Aww, she didn't want to play the game, oh well. Her lose really, Ebony was just hoping to make things a little more interesting. Though just because the other lady didn't care to know what secrets that vial held didn't mean the dealer didn't. He swiftly dealt the card making the black clad woman bust with twenty-four, then proceeded to turn his whole card over to reveal a number eight. Per the rules, he dealt another card and busted with twenty-six. "Winner to the brunette. Go again ladies?" Course he wanted to know more whether the vial holder would tell the other what it was all about despite not agreeing to the prior deal.

Ebony on the other hand had gradually gotten bored throughout the rest of the round. It wasn't fun if someone wasn't willing to play the game. She was starting to wish a certain dark haired man was there to spice things up. That of course put more of a sour taste to her actual lose now. "No, I think I'm done. Thanks for the game."

"He counted and cheated, so technically neither of us won or lost. If you really want to play with me, I'll take your bait."

Rong Wei didn't like winning by default, unless it was through her own manner or method, and it also left a sour taste in her mouth. Not to mention the pretty little beauty queen next to her had a stick up her rear that wasn't really deserved.

"How about this, we kick mister honesty out over here and deal to one another? First one to lose has to cough up something, be it money or a secret, and then we both walk out of here with a bit of something gained. Sound good? Good."

There wasn't really time for anyone to talk in that as Rong Wei reached over and snapped the cards from the dealer, taking care to not give herself a paper cut but let the boy know she didn't appreciate winning when he had his own agenda. Gambling was just that - gambling, and she didn't need an outside source to screw around with her luck and her method of play.

"Who first? Call if you want."

She paused in her leaving as the other spoke up taking the dealer's place. While he puffed up in anger and tried to get the deck back without much success, Ebony pondered this challenge. Was there anything to lose? Had it been any other time and another person, she most likely would have freely given this info out. But how could she trust the woman wouldn't cheat? Again she had to counter as it wasn't the vial itself she was after just the information and after all that grumbling about cheating it was hard to figure the woman to cheat herself.

A slow smile graced her lips, "I'll take that bet, but junior has to get lost." The man was outraged and stormed off, most probably to get security. Ebony just laughed. "Since you've got the cards you can play dealer. I trust you."

Rong Wei smiled, probably for the first time the whole night (or day, given who she was), and she shuffled the cards a bit to make sure that no counting could be done by either her or the woman. It's not that she didn't trust this lady who looked like she had no idea how to count cards anyway, Rong Wei assuming this because of how Ebony had reacted earlier to things, it was that she didn't trust the cards. These things were usually marked in some way, even if the dealers swore they weren't, so she had to make it fair.

She laid face down her card and dealt one out to Ebony, watching the number with slight amusement. It was a three. Threes were fairly good though, at least to her memory, as they were often just what someone needed to get far and stay above the crunch.

"Hit or stay. Your call."

A sly smirk surfaced at not only the card she'd been dealt, but at the straight-to-the-point attitude of this female. So different from Ebony's own round about, elusive ways. The hardness wasn't too much unlike her own, though she'd done well in keeping it at bay tonight.

"Hit me."

Rong Wei nodded and tossed out a card, being a queen. That brought Ebony's total now to thirteen, which could be dangerous if moved to a third card, and the Chinese woman pursed with a little bit of excitement on waiting to hear what this woman with a British accent spoke back. Hit or stay, it wouldn't matter until all cards are flipped anyway, she knew this, but it didn't make the wait any easier.

Dealing out in this way was much more nerve wracking then having that cheating boy dish things out, so therefore it was so much more fun.

"Hit or stay? You have thirteen."

She motioned her hand over the cards like a showman would towards a car, and she titled her head slightly and caused a few straw hairs to fall into her face.

"Hit or stay...?" she mumbled as if she was seriously thinking it over. Yeah right, like Ebony was going to let this end here like that. She was in it to win it. Thirteen was nothing to fret much over, besides it wasn't her who would lose anything important here should she bust.

Determination shining brightly in those silver eyes and no fear in her voice, "Hit me."

Rong Wei nodded and tossed a card out - the ten of spade. As it hit the table a thin smile crossed her pursed lips as a little feeling of victory crossed into her mind, naturally leading her to gloat. While it had come to this to get something out of the woman, Rong Wei had succeeded at beating her.

"Twenty-three, you've busted."

There was no need to check the hole card now that Ebony had busted her hand, and she reached over to gently gather the cards in her hand. She shuffled them back into the deck, rather clumsily but still decent enough, and waited to see what the other woman would do next.

"Since you've lost I believe you owe me something, as in a secret or money. I'm game either way."

That smile faded some with the realization that she'd just lost. A moment passed before she finally just shrugged since it wasn't a big deal to her in the first place. "Oh well. You win some, you lose some. Guess I'll tell you what this vial's all about then." She leaned in close so no one else would overhear her so easily, not that there was anyone around at that particular moment or that this was exactly top secret material, but Ebony enjoyed the game far too much to let it up so easily.

"This vial..." She held it up for closer examination, the smoke swirling about a bit more languidly than it normally would. Was it shy or something? Was that even possible? "...holds what's called a Fel Essence. In this case, it's a bit of smoke that doesn't disappear after time like it should. Apparently there are all kinds of these essences all over the world and some scientist right here in Gambino has been experimenting with them to create some really interesting creatures called Raevans."

"Hmm, interesting."

That was all Rong Wei said as she listened to the woman, her eyes set on the smoke before they drifted down towards the floor and then off towards the ceilings. Was the Chinese woman not listening?

Of course she wasn't listening, she really didn't care to know.

Still, it seemed like she had to listen since it was part of the bet and she'd won it, though Rong Wei would rather have taken money and then taken herself out of here. She wanted a cigarette badly before her mouth would take off without her, not to mention her head was hurting, but she also wanted to go hit another kind of table.

"So you're saying there's more of these things out there? These 'essences'?"

Still not very interested, Rong Wei was just more or less trying to keep conversation going so the woman wouldn't say it was her turn to deal. The Chinese woman knew she'd probably lose on that.

Ebony's brow rose in a quizzical manner. Sure didn't sound like the woman found it interesting at all. Then again maybe one couldn't quite grasp the fascination such a thing was until they witnessed the final product, i.e. the Raevans themselves. Yet she had to be at least a tiny bit intrigued otherwise she wouldn't have asked more questions.

Leaning back again, the Brit smirked as she tried to pull the other in more. "Tons more. And yet more to be discovered from my understanding of it all. Though they still are a rarity being that they are all one of a kind. No essence is ever exactly the same."

Meanwhile the dealer was making his way back to them with a couple of smartly dressed gentlemen. Casino security obviously.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 06, 2009 8:32 pm

"So they're something akin to snowflakes. I can understand that well enough."

The Chinese woman slowly got to her feet as she noticed the suits coming her way, and she chuckled under her breath at how quickly the little dog ran back to the pound to fetch the catchers. This casino wasn't really one of her regular spots anyway so being temp banned didn't even knock her heart a little, but the thought of being escorted out did cramp her a little.

Like hell she was going anywhere without lighting up first.

"I'd like to see one of those snowflakes someday, perhaps. It would give me something to do until the ban on here wears off."

That being said she reached into the pocket of her khaki pants and pulled out a lone cigarette, something she probably shoved in there on her first entrance, and she placed it to her lips. Taking a lighter out of the same pocket she flicked it on and let the flame hit the tip, smoke slowly curling upwards as the paper lit and blazed to life.

"Ahh. Much better."

She was ready now, to take whatever this overgrown boy and his team of men in black could bring to the table, though she knew it couldn't be that bad. Nothing was as bad as screwing around in a parlor in the districts.

"Yeah, something like that..." Course Ebony found it a bit insulting to compare the glory of the essences to something as simple as snowflakes, but whatever got her point across.

Hearing what the woman said next and watching her light up, that purple head whirled around to find just what she was talking about when she mentioned something about a ban. Exasperation dripped from every bit of air she pushed out as she sighed loudly. Looked like it was time to leave, and she hadn't even gotten to get a go at any of the other games. Guess she'd have to try next time, if there was a next time.

"Well I don't know about you mate, but I'm not about to let these suits have the satisfaction of showing me out." She smirked to the other as she stood to leave. "It's been fun. Name's Ebony Shade by the way in case you ever want to hear more about these essences or the Raevans. See you around sometime."

She gave the woman a lazy wave as she walked off, right past that group of men with a smug look and even blowing the dealer a kiss. They just looked to her in an odd way, not sure what to make of her at all before continuing on to the table. A table that still had Ebony's chips on it. Either the woman had forgotten them or she'd purposely left them for the other. The second was the better bet.
