Tristan pulled as hard has he could on it, trying to get it to go forward. To some degree it succeeded. The post rammed into the door as it slipped from the boy's grasp. It fell hard enough to not only open the door wide but completely splinter the wood as it crashed down the stairs and into the hallway, sending metal, glass, and wood everywhere. Tristan's eyes were wide as he peeked over the edge, swallowing hard. "O-Oops..."

Verrill shurgged as he ran though the now open hole. He knew they would get a new one. It's a plot device.
"Let's go, nobody needs to know." Verrill was going to march out with or without the other boy. He began to march out.
Back downstairs, Ethel was talking at a length which made the bible look like a pamphlet about her potion for removing hair from small animals.
