Bramblebur's eyes widened when Dewberry hopped out onto the lush field. What was she doing?! It would be better for all of them if they stuck close together not went out gallivanting in seach of some doting new buck. He knew that Ninebark's words were true. "Dewberry, for Frith's sake, get back here!" He was well aware that she was the sort who needed constant attention due to her cushy upbringing as the favored daughter of their warren's chief. The Captain had hoped that their journey would have toughened her up a bit or at least broke her of her need for so much constant praise.
The large buck darted out and leapt in front of her to block her path. "Now is not the time for senselessness, Dewberry! We will do this together. I am very aware of the fact that this journey has caused me to fall out of favor with you. All I'm asking is just a little more time. This has to be done carefully! Please try to understand this." His voice was an urgent whisper, not wanting his raised voice to draw the warren's attention just yet. "Go back to the others. Wouldn't your father be ashamed of how desperate you are behaving? I know he raised you better. Now, get back."
Bramblebur did his best to keep himself low in the field. Looking around, he turned his head when he heard a buck calling out Dewberry's presence. He winced slightly as their cover had been blown prematurely. They would just have to do their best to work with the situation that they were presented with from here on out. The Captain gave Dewberry a scolding look before glancing back to the remainder group.

Emerging curiously, having heard a faint thump in her little corner of the warren, Rosewood sniffed the air before coming out. All seemed well, so her and her charge came up for some much needed food, and for her to investigate. Birchwood was anxious to do the same, the little guy seemed destined for Owsla. He was filling out so quickly, even with the rain preventing them from eating much. Turning to her left she noticed a gathering of rabbits. Telling Birch to keep to where he was for now, she hopped over tentatively and listened to what the others had to say. She'd just gotten there when someone she didn't know called out of a strange rabbit being down the hill. Hopping closer, she got a whiff of what it was, and she quivered, sitting perfectly still. "What IS that! Why would they come here!" Before her question was answered however, Birchwood came up behind her, much to her disappointment. Would he never listen? She may not be his mother, but he needed to pay respects to her. He seemed to regret the decision as soon as he got the smell into his nostrils, only for a second, before the brave mask came up. "What do we do with them..." He asked quietly toward the authority present....

"How dare you talk to me in such a manner, Bramblebur!!" She shrieked rather shrilly, enough to piercing even the harshest winds. "Just because you were entrusted with my life does not mean to control my very being! I have been put through wind, rain, mud and even through thorn and brambles. We've seen every homba in the land and I'm covered in burrs from head to tail. And now we're safe you said so yourself. You did your duty so you will have nothing more to do with me!" She had exaggerated a little, they had only smelt a fox once, and had fled from it aptly, despite her complaining of an achy foot. There was only one or two burrs that she had already removed, and it wasn't as if no one else had traveled through the same as she.
But she was fed up of it, and now that the end was near, she could care less for any of the others and what happened to them. All she cared about now was that someone "decent" would approach her and treat her like she wanted, and put this hellish journey behind her.
"Protect your little band of Commoners if you want. But I want nothing more to do with you!"
Oh how she would soon learn the cold reality of it all. ~~~~+~~~~
Every rose has it's thorn, but some might just be poisonous.

Ninebark merely sat on his haunches and watched.
Oh, she would learn. The stuck up little doe would learn quite soon, although she may very well spoil the chance of the rest of them finding a safe haven. Though his features appeared quite passive and complacent, he was furious with the one called Dewberry. He could hear her words plain as day and every bit of what she said was an exaggeration, if he ever heard one. And he knew she hated him. She hated the black doe as well, but the others?
Even he could understand the stigmatism that he and Vreka carried, but the others had nothing wrong with them, nor had they done anything to deserve such harsh words.
"She's going to ruin it all. It ALL!" He hissed loudly as he lowered himself to the ground and debated on whether or not he wanted to go out and give her a scolding, himself. It would probably just make matters worse. Better to let Bramblebur handle the situation.
"Daintypaws, daintypaws, so full of herself. Will learn. Eventually."

Sparrow practically screamed as he saw the bright orange girl, leaping from his spot by the rock to dart around to the other side. "They're here, they're here! They come from a warren, and bring death on the wind! You can smell it, can't you?? Look at her.. she looks like a Pfeffa! Like the pfeffa from the farm! And Lendri! Look at the stripes... They've come for us.. the lapin Elil.. They bring it.. the death!" He whined, finding it hard to sit still at all as he clawed at his ears in panic.
"You didn't believe me, you thought I was mad. But Here they are, the ones to fear! Zorn and Death will fall upon us!" He ran circles around the group that started to gather by him.
It may have proved that his crazy predictions were true, the ones that Zorn-rah would give him. But he hadn't wanted death to visit the warren on any account.

Alarmed at Sparrow's yelling, Rosewood crouched closer to Birch in a protective stance. He had seen this coming? Why hadn't the warren been informed? Questions raced through the young doe's mind as she waited for responses from the others present. Staring down the hill, she waited for more to appear. Perhaps she wouldn't go running about like she used to anymore, the danger was too real this time.

"Quiet, you!" Cocklebur shouted at Sparrow as his raving only seemed to intensify. He raised a paw, claws brandished for a strike, yet he paused and turned his head as he too caught a wiff of the smell that came upon the wind. Wrinkling his nose in disgust, the Captain abandoned the little group and moved towards the doe who had smelled it first.
Bracken too got himself up as Sparrow and U'tuhlroo started making a scene and approached her along with his Captain. "By Frith, what in the world is going on?" the chief asked as he looked to the doe and then down the hill, his ear flopping with the movement of his head.
Cocklebur stood up on his haunches and gazed down the slope as well, also catching sight of the two rabbits that seemed to be exuding the smell of death. "Filthy, hlessi! So it is them! We should drive them out," he stated firmly.
Bracken sighed and furrowed his brow. He didn't much like the look and smell of things either, but he shook his head. "No, not yet. Go see what they want, Cocklebur, but don't get too close."
Cocklebur grunted in displeasure. He was tempted to tell Bracken to go himself, but naturally he had to obey. Without a word, he then descended down the hill to approach the stranger rabbits.

Rosemary popped her nose out of her hole. She was a mostly unnoticed rabbit, and kept to herself most often, but all the noise going on around her peaked her interest. "I wonder what all the yelling is about?" she thought.
A crowd was starting to gather around, and she went to look at what the clammer was. "Death?" She approached them, "Um, excuse me, but what is all this talk about death?" she asked the back of several rabbits.

He could hear the commotion gorwing as their presence was made known and the Captain would deal with them when they would come. Presently, Bramblebur was set to scolding the vain and needy doe. The buck sat up on his haunches and slapped a foot against the ground. "I have no intention of controlling everything you are. I am very well aware of everything we've been through. If you haven't noticed, you weren't alone. You apparently aren't capable of seeing past your whiskers to the needs of others. I'm terribly sorry that our hardships have done nothing to teach you kindness or humility. You still seem content to act as a spoiled kitten! You made it through it all in one piece, crying and complaining the whole way, but you are still alive. Can you not be thankful for that?"
Bramblebur huffed. "Like it or not, there are things that need to be done in a certain way. We all are far from the most appealing strangers to wander up to a new warren, yourself included, whether you like it or not. And for the record, those rabbits over there toughed it out with far better grace and strength than you ever bothered to show. I intend on protecting every single one of them with my life, if that is what it takes, prissy young does included. Now, I'm sorry but hold your tongue before their Owsla descend upon us with all of your shrieking." The striped buck had had his fill of her complaining and now was not the time to humor her carrying on. Not normally one to snap at a charge, this was the sort of situation that required him to show his station.
By the time he finished, Bramblebur turned to look up at the gathering on top of the hill and say that one of their number was heading for them. "Stay here, Dewberry. I mean it. It could mean your safety." He uttered to her in a whisper. The Captain turned toward the dark buck that was approaching and took a few steps away from the fussy doe. He sat up on his haunches and watched the descent of the large buck. Owsla he figured, if not their Captain.

__________________Mud--
Mud looked at cowslip with a disapproving shake.
'Sparrow said it was not of the thoasand this threat must be something else like white blindness how can no one else think that he thought to himself. He was mystified why this was so and why no one else could think of possibilities but yet htis bunny has.
He looked at the female who appeared and told of the smell of detah below, perhaps sparrow was right then. Maybe there is some danger. His head snapped to the announcement of the new female. She looked odd, pretty in her own way but no more then a filthy weak hlessi. His heart beat fast as cocklebur went to them.
"Cocklebur it's them! I know it the warning of death, like when there is times of white blindness sparrow is right
He yelled after his captain, he would hate to lose his captain early, he was just getting close to seeing what it was like to be in the owsla.
"Sparrow is right sir we should listen Bracken-Rah, you see if it's a threat from another warren then sparrow is right it is not of the thousand"
he said feeling no one was listening and surely his wise leader must. He shot a glance at cowslip showing that he was right in a way.
"Even if Cocklebur keeps his distance what if they attack? he would be caught..."
Mud said half speaking to his chief half speaking to himself. He knew there was nothing he could do but be prepaired now. He moved after Cocklebur and stopped halway inbetween his warren and the strangers. Ready to fight for his captain.

A female heard the commotion and followed the female named Rosemary. Her grey coat shone under the sun and made her black fur shine. She turned her blood red eyes to the group and then looked at Rosemary. The whole warren was worried and she looked at the kitten who attempted to protect his captain as they approached, she admired him. Her beauty radiated off her as she came, she was a sight that the warren admired greatly. She looked back at Rosemary. "Rosemary right? I am Duskshadow I think it's the strangers and they bring some threat"She said her voice oddly calm but with some tension. Duskshadow turned to Rosewood and Birch worried for the kitten. "Keep him close perhaps far so if you need to run you can, he is so cute and we must make sur eour warren is safe especially our kittens there our future."She said smiling at the cute fluffy Birch, she turned to Cocklebur just in his range of hearing. Her heart ached with pain. "Be safe Captain..."she said so it carried on the wind to him without anyone else hearing, she looked at him pleading that nothing would go wrong.

"Hello Duskshadow," Rosemary said to the gorgeous doe next to her, "those strangers are the threat? I hope that's not true, because I would feel awful not being able to extend some hospitality to them." She licked her front right paw and straightened the fur on her nose, suddenly self-conscience over her appearance.
"It's just rude to not give a stranger a warm welcome."

Duskshadow turned her attention from Cocklebur back to Rosemary. She smiled trying to not to freak out the warren by showing her own fur she gave her nose a quick itch at the wretched smell. "Yes Rosemary I believe they are if mud is right with what sparrow says they bring desease, I suppose we can show them hospitality and try to help by keeping our mdistance but we know not how to treat them"She said as she gave a quick head glance to cocklebur then back to Rosemary. "Indeed it is rude, but if they threaten our warrens lives then a warm welcome cannot be given and I doubt Cocklebur would give them a warm welcome"She said as her eyes kept going back to Cocklebur then Rosemary.

Rosemary took a deep, long sniff of the air, taking in the smell. Why didn't she notice that before? She coughed, and quickly pawed at her nose more, wishing that she hadn't been that ambitious about breathing.
"I suppose so" she said and looked down at the ground. It made her uncomfortable to not be formal in such situations, but really, how could she welcome future guests if she was dead with plague? Rosemary tried to not think about it too hard, and waited to follow the other rabbits' lead.

Rosewood nodded as she was told to keep Birchwood close. She could tell he wanted to be doing exactly what Mud was doing, but Rose was too protective of him to let him go on. He would have to help some other day, when the threat isn't an inhaled disease possibly. She would not give up her position as caretaker to Owsla, or what she ensured herself would be.
Mumbling, she turned to the doe's around her and sighed. "One rabbit we may welcome with open arms and warm hearts. A partial warren running from something and bringing this stench with them we greet with an arms length and claws prepared. Our life is too good here to sacrifice it on courtesy." She paused to think, then added, "I'm the first to welcome new people, but i don't like this, i don't like it one bit." Her body quivered and she crouched lower to the ground to keep still.

Cocklebur paused and turned to cast a glare back at Mud. "Shut your mouth! You're starting to sound just like that lunatic." He then looked at the gray, lop eared doe, but said nothing before continuing towards the buck that indeed looked like a lendri with those stripes.
Bracken turned his gaze to Mud as he spoke to him, before letting out a sigh. "Hm. Let's not jump to conclusions." He then smirked at the young one's concern for the Owsla Capain. "Cocklebur can take care of himself. Make no mistake of that." But as the youngster started to follow, Bracken put himself in Mud's path. "Now now... get back with the rest. We'll handle this. You may be eager, but you're not Owsla yet."
The chief then sat on his haunches as he looked over the group of concerned and curious rabbits. "Now everyone, keep calm."
Meanwhile, Cocklebur continued to approach the striped buck and eventually stopped a few feet away and down wind of him. Still, as he sat up, he couldn't help but drape a paw over his nose. Trying to block the terrible stench that came from them. "I am Cocklebur, Captain of Owsla. Who are you and what do you want?"
