Yes. I have quite a few reasons to believe in the paranormal, but I'm only going to list two of the major ones in my life. Note: pretty long-winded, lengthy stories ahead~

When I was a child living on a couple acres of land (we couldn't call it a farm, but we did have a few chickens, and a sheep and sometimes wild horses and our neighbour's cows) I'd always see this figure, and he'd either be standing in one of the bedroom doorways, or at the end of the hall. I never saw him anywhere else.

Out of the corner of my eye I always thought it was my father or another family member, but when I'd ask them if they were there, they always said they hadn't been, especially as they just got home, etc. I was always alone when I saw this figure. One day I could see him clearly suddenly, dressed in a Confederate uniform. He had no colour, and he was just a shadowy grey. Sometimes after that, I could completely see him and other times he was just a shadow. And one day, I just stopped seeing him.

This next one has real significance for me, because it was a dear friend who appeared to me and saved my life. We had been travelling to her memorial service, and I had been running on very little sleep, was still grieving heavily, and was just all-round irritable.
My mum wanted a swim in the hotel pool, so she got us all up at 7am so we could do this before breakfast (she's an early riser anyway).

If I don't get enough sleep, I am prone to these spells where I have a slight seizure and pass out. Well long story short is, I had one of these attacks whilst in the pool. One minute I was awake, the next I was not even aware of my predicament or that it was even me there. My friend put her hand on my shoulder and was whispering in my ear, "Wake up. You're drowning." and she kept increasing her volume until she was shouting. When she shouted and shook my shoulder (I could physically feel this), my eyes popped open underwater, I went to the surface and gasped and started flailing.

By this time my brother had already seen me and was trying to pull me out of the pool when I "woke up". He said that it was a good thing I woke up just then or he would've had to perform CPR. This freaked me out for the rest of my trip, but I'm glad my friend's spirit was still on the earthly plane to save me like that. (^_Q)

Wow, those re very awesome stories ^^

I have had a few such encounters. But never anyone I knew

i cant answer the poll, as it doesnt define what you mean by paranormal.

i dont beleve in ghosts, monsters, or anything like that

however, i do beleive in Telepathy, but not telekintics. i beleive in telepathy because i am a telepath myself. it is random, but sometimes i will just answer something that hasnt been said yet, to which the person who was going to ask the question looks at me quizzically. usually i hear what someone is going to say before they say it, so i answer, sometimes, when i dont answer, i hear a mimic of the question i just heard in my head... it is odd, to say the least, but then again, we only use like 12% of our brain at any time, so it isn't unexplainable.

As for not believing in monsters I must ask, what is your definition of a monster? A giant hairy beast with 3 legs and magic powers? If thats the case then I mist say I don't either. But to me a monster is just a strange and usually undiscovered creature. Anything that could be considered Cryptozoology

And the bit about being telepathic is cool. I myself have somewhat of a 6th sense but I will only go into detail about it when asked. I've grown tired of the "LOL UR CRAZY" remarks I get

urgh, i know how you feel, which is why i can openly talk about it here, the "Real" world considers us wierd anyway 'cause we are steampunks

Yea, people are so closed minded. Its annoying

I've only ever seen people that I've known like that twice. One person came to me in a dream, and the second one was the friend I described previously.

It's bittersweet to meet them like that, or even in a dream, but at least I know they are fine and have moved on, so I should do the same. It's a bit of a comfort as well. biggrin

I'm fairly skeptical. For everything I've experienced I always try very hard to find the logical background. Not everything I've experienced has a good explanation.

And whenever the subject of money comes up in regards to the paranormal I know it's a scam. Call me cheap, call me a skeptic, doesn't matter to me.

That's a healthy outlook with nearly everything in life, trust me. Well, except when you're shopping, naturally, but anything that isn't a product, service, or the like simply shouldn't cost money.

Edit: I forgot to mention why I believe.

I almost drowned when I was seven because my foot got stuck on the grating they used to keep part of the pool elevated for the visiting students (like my class). I was under water for a few minutes, and since then, my life went crazy.

I'm exceptionally good at finding people who have specific skills, like aerokinetics and pyrokinetics. I also have a prenatural knowledge, the ability to see some irrelevant bullshit from my own eyes (like doodling a picture) before it happens, I can sense and hear spirits but I can't understand them, and I also have the ability to absorb energies and use them as a food-like substance (psi-vampirism) (I can do exorsisms alone, but I've never run into anything powerful yet and I dread it). Also, my use of tarot is almost always right and I come from a line of us.

Basically, I got the smorgasbord because my mother's side has recessive ESP-traits and my father has dominant (both his father and his mother). My sister sometimes has premonitions, and my brother never talks about it, so he might have gotten nothing or is afraid to mention it. I won't talk about my father or his mother, since my dad blocked what he had and I never met my grandmother (though I know what she had).

I entertain notions of the paranormal. If nothing else, they are interesting and entertaining thought experiments. That being said, even professional paranormal hunters remark that having healthy skepticism is necessary in their field of work.
Also, there are certainly things in life which cannot be easily explained.

To think we can explain everything is foolish

i find that VERY hard to beleive, as it takes hours of concentration to mentally amass the energy needed to do such a thing (i have a wiccan freind who took me to meet a pyrokinetic, he's 60 something and he can only hold that energy in the form of fire for a split second, and he has been doing it from years apparently)

i know an aerokinetic! and i know a guy who seems to have a permenant supply of static electricity, possibly an electrokinetic, met them a few weeks back at college, they are part of a paranormal club... so the Aero, the Electro and the Telepath... we make an odd group, to say the least...

I'm a skeptic when it comes to people having superhuman abilities in general. Physically heightened abilities can be explained away by steriods or visible years of labor, but things like 'conjuring' an element or premonitions are more difficult to explain. Too often, it seems, the ability is attributed to wicca or voodoo/hoodoo practices; basically witchcraft.

I do, however, believe that there are spirits and angels and demons. I've seen things, heard things, felt things, that weren't there. There haven't been any demonic encounters before, but as a child I was helped by an angel and I've met a couple of spirits. Ironically, the most common one that I encounter is in my church.

I believe in God, angels, demons and the like. Some of my family members have this thing were they'll dream about things before it happened. My sister even dreamt I was borne 5 years before I was. I dreamed something before but it was stupid. The summer I was 9, I had a dream were I was sitting in 5th grade, and lo and behold, I had the teacher who was in my dream who I'd never seen before. Yheah, it's not all dramatic -_Q. My dad and sisters' dreams are a whole lot less tame.

Thankfully I've never had any encounters with spirits other than God.

I must salute your boldness for bringing god into this, I too believe. When I was seven years old I had a bunk bed, and I would sleep in the top bunk; on night I was fortunate enough to witness a blue werelight hovering five feet from the edge of my bunk. It stayed in the area for ten minuets or so just drifting around my room. Since then I have seen other lights but I found ways of dismissing them.
