"Ah, I see," Brioso replied softly with a nod, her tail swinging like the pendulum on a grandfather clock as she walked, following closely behind. She stayed alert, her eyes never leaving Grencia as she did not wish to miss out on a word that he was saying. As he changed direction, she increased her pace and walked beside the stallion, her head turned sideways to look at him.
"It must be nice, being part of a huge herd like that." She continued speaking, a small, envious smile handing on her lips. She had always been part of a small family herd, if it could even be called a herd; there was only her parents and her two siblings, and nobody else... Of course, everyone was close to each other due to its smallness, but it seems great to have many in a herd, just like a huge family.
At the sound of running water nearby, her ears twitched and she looked to where they were headed. She had been so absorbed with the conversation, she didn't notice that they were heading towards a river... And hearing the sound of running water does make her quite thirsty.

"I was there at the birth of the herd," he replied smoothly. He was one of the patriarch of the herd itself, mated to the Alpha of the herd and the guardian charged with watching the peaks. He was more than fond of his extended family and equally as proud of them. They had all achieved so much and made an impression on the lives of so many creatures. At times it was a busy place to live and on awkward occasions could be filled with complex politics but it was strong. Despite its size everyone knew each other, tragedy and blessing were all celebrated and mourned together. Exhausting as it may have been on occasions he wouldn't change it for the world and would have encouraged any of those who desired a family to seek them out.
"I am very proud of all of them. My comrades carry the name of our great family with honour and we live a life of peace and prosperity," he smiled at the filly. Coming to a halt by the river he lowered his head to sip at the ice cold water, savouring the taste of the sparkling liquid. After travelling for so long it had a wonderful taste and was so very refreshing to his lips. Lifting his head after a few moments he returned his gaze to the filly and rolled his shoulders in a loose shrug. "It is a safe place for our children to mature and a sable environment for them to be tutored within... " He chuckled and tilted his head to one side.
"We have never had a complaint from one of our members," he reassured her and released a soft sigh. "Alas, I am not sure how easy it is to find a gathering of warriors quite like Islagiatt's outside of my own herd. If I was aware of a gathering with tutors to rival our own I would have given you their name by now...alas, Islagiatt's knights are the only ones I know," he pointed out. Unfortunately he was being honest, it had been years since any of Islagiatt's most prominent figures had descended from the slopes and it was unlikely to change any time soon - the stallions and mares of Islagiatt were more than happy to stay where they were...especially the tutors.

She stopped by the river as well, bending down to take a sip of water after Grencia. Lifting her head, she let out a contented sigh before turning her attention back to the stallion, her eyes filled with curiosity yet again; this herd of his sounded so mysterious... The last of their kind, maybe? The thought made her wince a little; the world needs saving, yet one herd... Was all there is?
Even if all their warriors are like Grencia, refusing to hold a title, just wishing to aid those that need the help... To her, they are the heroes she had inspired to become, and she was sure that is what her home - these lands outside of the mountain - lacks currently. She looked down, staring at her reflection in the water; she looks so small now, and helpless. The things she can do are limited now, and it is unlikely to change unless she can change herself first.
"Mister," The filly spoke again, her voice soft but still louder than a whisper, "If I were to scale the mountains to the East to look for you, will you take me as a student? Are there requirements to fulfill?"

There were requirements to fulfill when it came to Islagiatt and it's warriors. The issues were usually too complex for a foal to be concerned with but if she was insistant on learning the art of war then he supposed to his kin could teach her to a point. They couldn't teach her everything, couldn't permit her to learn the secrets of their art as that was for those within the herd alone but the basics would be alright. Perhaps when she grew up a little more, reached adolescence and held a greater understanding of the world then she could decide whether or not she wanted to join Islagiatt officially and further her training then. Hmmm...suffice to say this was the best option for the child at this point as she was simply too young to make such important decisions. However, if he were to wait until she was older then she wouldn't be as receptive to the basic training either.
"Scaling the mountain alone, at your age would be foolish," he pointed out wisely and shook his head. He hadn't rejected her request outright but she did need to understand that at her age she didn't really have a say in where she went when it came to her own safety. While she may have had potential there was still the issue of her age and as a consequence, guardianship. He was fairly certain a child in her condition had parents and he would not be one to sweep her off her hooves and whisk her away without even requesting permission...potential or not. "You would require a guide, particularly with the seasons in transition," he cleared his throat and arched a brow thoughtfully.
"However I am on my way home," he mused softly and fixed his emerald gaze on the shuffling filly. "If you can gain the permission of your parents to train then I will permit you to accompany me. I will introduce you to the tutors and if they consider you to possess potential then we shall go from there," he assured her. Really, no tutor would object to training her now he had his eye upon her but even so... It gave them the opportunity to assess her and to inform her of how things worked. They could only teach her so much and then she would have to leave, those who were not part of Islagiatt couldn't be trained completely - they could only be given partial training that could be applied elsewhere in self defence for the most part.

Brioso looked up at Grencia, clearly surprised at his answer; she thought that he would have said 'no' right away, since she is still young, but that didn't seem to be the case... If all she needed was her parents' consent, she would be able to obtain it, no matter what. A small smile appeared on her lips as she looked down again, studying her reflection; after all, her parents, especially her father, will understand why she needs to leave.
She gave the stallion a sharp nod, "I understand, mister Grencia. My home is not far from here... If I can get my parent's permission to leave, I can probably go right away." Brioso paused, realizing that it made her sound impatient, but that was how she felt; it was something that she was unable to hide. Since young, her impatience had caused her to get lost and separated from her siblings when they were playing together, because she will always rush off by herself.
"My parents normally give me a lot of freedom," She continued, silently wondering if it was because she was a little wild and difficult to control, or simply because it was their choice to 'let her be' and develop. Pushing those thoughts aside, the filly became more serious, "And they know about... Well, about my dream. If I tell them that my dream is slightly different now, and that I really need to leave for some time, I'm sure that they'll allow me to."

Well, he knew that one tutor in particular would be amused by her. It seemed that every child that ever had any semblance of intelligence had at first been incredibly impatient. Brioso would quickly learn that impatience would get her nowhere in combat, that she would struggle to gain any respect if it persisted but for now it was a good thing. If she was impatient then she would be willing to learn, however she would have to balance that out with discipline and determination. It was all well and good to want to learn but it was far more beneficial to master a move before progressing further... It would certainly be an entertaining few weeks when she was initiated into her training. Well, it would be a culture shock to her for one thing - just as well it was spring as she would have ended up with hypothermia in winter!
"Very well," he replied smoothly and shook his forelock from his eyes. His eyebrows quivered slightly, the feathers about his head twitching but otherwise he remained steady. He was anxious enough to return home, if the filly wanted to come now then he wouldn't object to it. Admittedly he was surprised by how blase she claimed her parents were but if they were going to let her attend such rigorous training sessions at such an age then so be it. "You may ask your parents," he agreed in the same gentle tones.
"I will wait for you here," he reassured her and ruffled his wings, savouring the warmth that emanated from his own form...it was the only thing that was preventing his legs from seizing up completely after so little rest. "When you have confirmed things with your parents you can join me and I will show you the way," he added. Granted it would be much slower on foot but at least he would have a certain mate waiting for him when he got there. This in mind he lowered his head again and sought out the river, taking his fill of the ice cold water with a soft snort of approval.

"Thank you!" Brioso cheered happily as she turned around to face the way they came, getting ready to head home. Taking one last look at Grencia, she bowed her head before galloping off, taking extra care to remember the way back to the river as she ran, too excited to stop to catch her breath; instead, she switched between galloping and cantering, determined to be as fast as she could.
After all, it's not nice to keep her potential teacher and guide waiting for too long.
