"I plan to accomplish a few things. Learn some new stuff. Maybe get a car. What good is a license without one?" Bennie tossed her hair onto her back and smiled at Logan, "I'm actually going home this year. I meant to talk to you about it, but it just never came up." She kicked mindlessly at the air, watching the ground.

The son of poseidon laughed, "Oh yeah, you still haven't gotten a car." Logan had his mom's old one, it wasn't too bad, you just had to make sure to brake a little early because they were a little faulty. Logan raised an eyebrow. "Home? Do you mean home as is in Montana? Or home home, France?" Logan asked. Bennie was originally from France, so he had to make sure. [/size]

Bennie adverted her eyes, shuffling her feet. A sigh passed her thin lips and she glanced over her shoulder. The trees rustled around them with the sea breeze that rolled in, birds sang, the ocean rolled. It was beautiful. She let her eyes trail back to Logan's, holding his gaze before dropping it again. "I'm going home home." She paused for what seemed like a very long time, "I won't be back until mid-May."

Logan frowned at the thought of Bennie leaving. She'd be gone for nine and a half months. The thought of being away from her for so long made his head spin. Even when camp was out of session they still managed to meet up at least once every two months, usually more. Plus, so much could change in that time. She could return a completely different person. Logan looked at Bennie and pictured this tan, blond, blue-eyed fashion diva. She would come home from France with some snobby french accent, obsessed with clothes, and hanging over some french hunk, Gerard or whatever. Logan wanted to punch the dude in the face, and he wasn't even sure the dude existed. "Wow... that's a... long time." he murmured.

"I'd write you." Bennie didn't hesitate with that. She had been practicing this talk in her head for a very long time, almost five months. "I'll have my own place. Just outside of Paris. And maybe you could come see me over the winter holidays." She quickly stepped to him and took his hands in her's. "It wouldn't be that bad." She was desperate.

Logan smiled at this, "And crossing the Atlantic by sea isn't such a daunting task if you're dad's the sea god. I can't fly, remember?" he noted. "Maybe I can visit my dad on the way there, too..." he thought out loud. Then Logan got an idea, he pulled small vial of pearls from his pocket he kept for emergencies and such. "When you get there, find a fountain and throw this into it, then it'll be like an automatic Iris Message, you just ask for me and you'll see me, it's how my mom and I communicate," he explained. He popped off the top of the vial and placed a small pearl in her hand.

With a smile, Bennie held the pearl tightly in her palm, "Will do." She tossed her arms around his neck, hugging him close to her. "I'm going to miss you so much. You're my best friend, it's gonna be tough not getting to see you as often as before." She buried her face into his neck, keeping herself from crying by taking in the scent of salt water off Logan. He always smelled like salt water. Around them the wind pushed through the gazebo, tossing Bennie's hair around them and making it a tangled mess. Now the smell of caves and pine trees mixed with the smell of the ocean. All smells Bennie would miss.

Logan's stomach fluttered slightly as Bennie wrapped her arms around him, he didn't think she'd ever been so intimate with him. It was weird, although, that didn't mean he didn't like it. Logan smiled softly and hugged her back, "It'll be fine. Just have fun all the time, and the time will fly by. You'll be back her in no time." he promised. "Just... stay away from guys named Gerard okay?" he said with a rueful grin.

With a very confused laugh, Bennie stepped away from Logan. "Okay, I can do that." She gently dabbed at her eyes with her fingers to wipe away her tears without smearing her make-up. "So long as you promise not to get too wrapped up in being all adult-like to write me." She grinned brightly at him, careful not to let the gap between them grow, but even more cautious to let it get smaller again.

Logan smiled, blushing slightly. His feet shuffled akwardly, trying to get up the courage to say what he'd been wanting to for weeks. It was now or never. Logan took a deep breath and started, "Bennie... I um... you see I-'" he was cut off by a small jingle coming from Bennie's pocket. Logan let out a huge inward groan. 'SOMEONE PUT THAT ******** PHONE ON VIBRATE!' Logan tried not to let his anger show. "Well, you'd better answer it."

'Father, you suck.' Bennie pulled her phone from the pocket on the front of her dress and answered. "Hello? ... Ok. ... Alright. ... Ten minutes? ... Five minutes? ... Alright. ... Bye." She hung up and smiled apologetically at Logan, "Father, he's waiting." A sour sigh fell past her lips and her shoulders slump, "Please," She met his gaze, "Finish what you were saying."

Logan blushed, "Um, it's nothing, actually." he said quickly. You couldn't exactly confess your love in a matter of minutes, that could take an hour to get the moment through. "I was just going to tell you... have fun over there in France, okay?" he covered. "I'll miss you." he said, "You'd better get to your dad..."

A large smile broke Bennie's lips, "Don't worry, I will." She pulled Logan back into a hug, holding him tight, "I'll write your home address as soon as I land, ok?" And with that, and a slight brush of her lips to his cheek, Bennie skipped off, leaving Logan to contemplate what had exactly just happened.

.. Timeskip :: May 25th ..

The smell of ripe strawberries, salt water, and pine flowed out to the very different Bennie as she stepped out of the taxi. She smiled at the Grey Sisters as she paid the drachmas she owed and threw her backpack over her shoulders. A suitcase was removed from the trunk and she waved goodbye to them as she walked the rest of the way to her cabin. Over the hill and through the woods.

She dropped her things inside the door of her untouched cabin and turned right back around. Then without much thought, the now strawberry-blond turned on her heel and glanced across to Cabin 3, no sign of life, but definitely had a resident. Bennie almost ran to the beach, no, not almost, she did run. Her and Logan hadn't gotten to see each other over the holidays, he got wrapped up in something and couldn't make it. She was almost too excited to see him.

Skidding to a stop at the top of the cliffs, Bennie's odd eyes scanned the water, catching a glimmer of Logan's well-toned back stream-lining its way through the still-cold Lake Erie. She melted. Without much more hesitation, she danced down the trail, Bennie's knee-length olive green dress wrapping tightly around her with the breeze. Her flip flops slipped off her feet at the base of the trail and she slipped her feet in the sand.

Now she had a tan, Bennie's once pale skin had become gently sun-kissed and her hair was clearly sun-bleached. It barely touched her shoulders in smooth waves. She had lost weight too, put on some muscle. The once frail-looking girl had become a very prominent woman in nine and a half months.

Logan finished his last lap, completing five hundred in a row. He smiled softly, instead of getting tired, he simply got stronger as he spent more time in the water. It was a trait that would surely help in the Olympics next year, if he made it. Logan waded out of the water to his towel, which he used to mop up the water from his body. He turned to walk up to the path when he froze.

There, in front of him, after nine long months, was Bennie. She looked different... she looked great. She was tan now, with her old strawberry blond color back, she had really shaped up. Of course, Logan wasn't the same guy now either. He'd grown a bit more, bringing him to six foot four, he had a little more muscle tone, and his hair had gone from long and light brown, medium length and blond.

Logan ran to close the rest of the distance between him and Bennie and grabbed her in a hug, completely disregarding the fact that he was still soaked, "Bennie, it's so great to see you!" he cried, hugging her tightly and twirling her around once. He set her down and looked at her cautiously, "You stayed away from 'Gerard' right?" he said with a small grin.

Laughter erupted from Bennie's throat, sand flying up with her as Logan spun her body about. As her feet slipped back into the sand and she pulled Logan back into her arms, burying her face in his shoulder and grinning madly. "Of course I did." Her voice held a slight French twang to it, nothing a few weeks in the states wouldn't cure. She beamed up at him, admiring the changes that had occurred in her best friend. It's like she finally came to the full conclusion he was a guy, that he was available and hot. No, not just hot, he was damn sexy.

Bennie's mind danced back to the day she left, when she had only graced him with a discreet kiss to the cheek. Every day she had been gone she thought of that, how she didn't tell him how she felt before she left for France. Her smile faltered in present day and she met Logan's eyes, holding his steady gaze. He had grown into a fine young man and she was sick with herself for feeling the way she did about him. Now she could remember why she didn't tell him how she felt, he was too good for her.

She stepped back and growled down at her soaked dress, "You're lucky this is just a sundress, and that I'm wearing my bathing suit under it." A grin played Bennie's lips, "Wanna take a swim? You know, for old time's sake?"
