Addy kept silent, both in mind and word, and tried to block off her own mind, just in case.

"Of course, of course," the doctor nodded profusely. "Follow me." He led the three to his office, passing Selma's desk. She didn't even look up.

He prepared the tools he would need to check each child's vitals and instructed them to pick who went first and told them to sit on the little padded table in the center. There was a stool to the side so that they would actually be able to reach.

Lilly opted to go first, scrambling up onto the table. She had no reason to be nervous about the man, after all.

Wise choice Addy. Keep yourself protected. He placed his hand on her shoulder reassuringly.

Sekenre leaned against the wall and watched. His eyes never left the Doctor. He was responsible for the girls now and didn't want to give anyone an opportunity to harm them. Protective? Yes. Untrusting? Perhaps, not of the man but of the technique.

It was really just a normal pediatric checkup, nothing out of the ordinary. Ronchas shone his pen light in Lilly's eyes to check their dilation speed, checked her ears and throat for redness or swelling. He checked her heartbeat and the sound of her lungs with his stethoscope. Everything checked out and it was time for her booster shot.

Lilly squeezed her eyes tightly and braced herself for the shot. She didn't like needles, but she knew it had to be done.

Addy cringed as she watched the needle poke into her sister's arm. It's not so bad as getting one yourself, but she knew she was next anyway.

Still, it was nothing to how she had felt earlier, though her worry had subsided, she was still somehow uncomfortable around those she was incapable of reading.

"All done," Ronchas broke the silence after administering the shot. "Your turn," he turned to the other girl and smiled.

Addy reluctantly switched places with her sister.

"Its okay Addy, I'm here" Sekenre said reassuringly.

After seeing Lilly go through the motions with the doctor, he was less tense having this man practice on his pupil.

Relax It was a mental command to Addy that he knew the girl didn't have the willpower to resist yet. Hopefully with the command, the remainder of the visit would be quick and easy, unless Dr. Ronchas wanted to interview him.

Sekenre's interaction with Gaians had been limited at most. He was still unsure what he could say without them freaking and/or forming a mob.

As the girls switched places, he held out his arms to Lilly, "Not bad huh?" The question was posed as a tease to lighten the girl's mood in case she was distraught with the procedure.

"Yup," Lilly replied. She was glad it was over. She whipped around (spinning just like her mother did, on one heel) and told her sister not to worry. "I didn't even feel it," she assured her.

Addy did calm down, but it wasn't just the command word her mentor had used, it was the whole situation. (She probably would have calmed down anyway, but the command didn't hurt a bit.)

She sat patiently through her own checkup and shot, flinching only a little to close her own eyes tightly. Maybe the same tactic would work for her that worked for her sister. It did, and she was done.

"There you are," Ronchas hummed when he was finished. "Did you have any other questions for me?" His question was directed at Sekenre specifically. He was intrigued by his lack of knowledge of medicine and wondered if conversation might spark some kind of relevance as to his origin.

Sadly, all Sekenre would be able to read was the curiosity emanating from the man's aura, something that had not changed the entire time they were there.

Sekenre's curiosity was peaked by the doctor's aura.

"Well, what was in the shot? And how are the girls?"
Sekenre looked at the empty syringe on the table.

"The girls are perfectly healthy," Ronchas assured him. "As for the shot, it contains all the immunizations they will need for the next year in a patented combination developed by yours truely." He puffed up his chest. "You see, most of the time, children have to get several shots because the immunizations don't mix, but I have developed a way to include all the needed ones in a special time-released manner that allows for them to all be administered at once." He took much pride in his explanation and then turned to the girls. "That way, you only have to have one shot, isn't that much better?"
