Her words were somewhat less than reassuring. He wasn't concerned about her going anywhere, that didn't seem likely right now. He was worried that her constant shifting would put more strain on her. Without a second thought or even a whispered word he relocated himself to a more suitable spot where he would be more easily seen. Then he dropped to the ground and allowed his long tail to wrap around his legs giving him a more feline appearance than anything.

"Fight alone...lonely?" Dark pink eyes studied her face. There was no real sadness that he could see but he couldn't imagine living without the company of others would be pleasant. Even with as often as he wandered off alone he could still appreciate company. Provided of course that the company was not annoying.

"Relying on another...isn't bad..." His tail twitched as this comment was made. It sounded almost as though someone had let her down in the past. That was sad but it made her who she was today and the one he was looking at was quite wondrous.

She watched quietly as the colt lowered himself to the ground, curling his tail around his thin legs in a catlike manner. She raised a brow again at his actions, but said nothing as it did mean she wasn't craning her neck anymore to talk to him.

'Hmm..' she thought his words before answering.
'Not lonely, not that I can remember ever feeling that about being on my own. I suppose there are times I crave company, but fighting alone is a challenge. Fighting with another is obviously an advantage, especially if your partner, or partners are as well trained as your own self. But I've found it rare, and I've only yet met one other that I had a proper synchronisity with. But we were together only fleetingly..' Fox was lost in her memories for a time, and then returned again to the present moment.

'It isn't bad unless it becomes a dependancy, when you become unable to do even small things for yourself.'

As she spoke Lamb observed her. All the expressions that flitted through her eyes and across her face. The way her voice carried over each word. Fox was smart, he noted. Smart and strong. There was something else though. As her voice trailed off on the subject of a one time partner a small frown slid slowly over Lamb's features. The moment passed but he didn't forget it.

"Fight with Fox then." He said slowly and very seriously. He lowered his head to rest on his forelegs but kept his eyes locked on to the mare's face. What she said was she wasn't lonely, but she had also said she craved companionship at times. It was a bit contradicting if one asked him. Based on his experiance alone having another around was more often a good thing than a bad one. "Small favours...should be nice..."

It was likely she wouldn't understand his chain of thought. That was fine. There wasn't a single person that could completely follow him with the little information he provided. It didn't change the intention behind his words at all. Fox was wrong. Company was nice and having small things done for you was nice as well. He wanted to show her that.

Fox moved her front legs; it was getting the point where she would have to soon get up and walk about to stretch them. Not using your muscles was as bad as overusage, and she was getting an uncomfortable feeling.

'Fight with me?' she raised a brow, curious as to whether what the colt meant was what she interpreted his words as. It sounded as though he was offering to join her..but he was far too young. He could possibly be trained, in fact it was a good age to do so, but as for fighting. He would only get hurt. Her ears flicked at his next words, but she couldn't fathom what he meant with those. Child chatter..

She slowly got to her hooves, feeling them tingle as the blood circulated properly, and she took slow paces, feeling a slight twinge and tightness in her hind leg as she did so.

'Should be good by tomorrow,' she said with confidence. She looked around, then straight at the colt.
'I shall be moving on soon, making my way to shelter for when night time comes so that I don't have to rush myself. Will you head back to your family?'

Even if his family members did let him wander away, she wouldn't leave him out here alone. Even if it meant standing for longer, she would make sure he was left in safety.

He blew a little sigh out at her reaction. She didn't understand. That was alright. He hadn't gotten his hopes up that she would. "Fight alongside?" He said raising his eyebrows a little and giving his head a slight tilt to ask if she understood. He didn't hold that position for long as she began to get to her feet.

Like lightning he sprang up his tail whipping out around him to make sure his balance didn't fail him with the quick movement. He stared at Fox with a clear worried expression as his eyes flickered back to her injured leg. He only relaxed a fraction of a percentage when she said it would be fine by the next day. When she posed a question that most his age would have no difficulty answering he actually had to think about it.

His tail swayed slowly behind him in even movements like a metronome as he weighed the situation. His family would wait until sundown for him before they began to worry at which point his father would take off to track him down. He loved his family very much, could he make them wait in fear? On the other side there was Fox. He had just met her but there was something about her that he found himself drawn to, something he couldn't pin down. To top it off she was injured. She knew her body better then he did obviously but he didn't think she was completely fine.

Decisions. Silence had surrounded him completely before he finally made up his mind. He took a couple slow steps towards the mare and then looked directly up at her with his decision written clearly on his face. He would follow Fox. When his father came he would explain things.

Fox looked at Lamb, a long calculating look. Would he get in the way? She already knew that he would listen, nor would he give her any kind of back chat but she wasn't sure if she wanted the responsibility that came with allowing him to tag along, and having to train him so that he wasn't a liability. On the other hand this was a chance to pass on all that she learned, and if it meant he would grow up without the arrogance that most males had about fighting females then it was worth her time.

'Your family will miss you.' she gave another attempt at dissuading him from his decision, testing him really. She didn't want anyone tagging along that would complain when they moved, or whine if they weren't being treated in the same loving fashion that their mother or father did. She wouldn't be cruel..but she would be firm so that if he did choose and she did allow it he would come back in one piece.

"Family have wings." He responded without a second thought. What he meant by this was his family could fly to visit him if they felt the desire to see him or at least that was a logical expectation. He had already included their reactions in his decision. They would be alright. As long as he was not dead things were fine and Fox wasn't going to convince him differently.

His tail twitched behind him as he looked up at the mare expectantly. He was waiting for another attempt to persuade him to change his mind, whether it would come or not he was unsure. The more she tried, however, the more he respected her. It was difficult to explain why this was the case but it was. If she had just agreed he would have likely questioned her motives. The more she pushed him to stay the less he worried and the more he pushed back.

He wondered how long she could stay on her leg, though. It seemed like she should be resting it not trying to ditch a foal. As much as he respected her efforts to get him to stay he wished she would cave soon so she could get wherever she was heading and rest.

'If you say so..' Fox replied, leaning so that the bulk of her weight was off her injured leg, the hoof resting only lightly on the ground.

'You don't wish to let them know that you are leaving the area before we go?' she really didn't want a mother or father's wrath coming down on her head because they thought she might have led their little boy astray..but of course they would have to find her first.

'After my leg has properly healed we will be on the hoof alot, it's not going to be easy following me. One last chance.' the mare said, putting her hind hoof down and shaking out her mane. She would need to set off soon to get to the cave she sometimes sheltered in, it was a few miles down and away from the river.

To answer he gave an exaggerated sigh while rolling his eyes a little. Really he didn't mind as much as he made it look like he did. It was a good thing that she pushed to get him to stay. At the moment, however, it was time to get moving. "Let's go." He said taking a few steps to move past the mare. He had absolutely no idea where she was planning on going but that didn't really matter. He wasn't trying to lead the way he was trying to make his answer crystal clear and so he stopped after only those few steps.

Lamb was going to go with Fox and make sure she was alright. Of course that was only step one. From the sounds of it she figured he would be following her for quite a while. Her suspicions would be correct in that point. Making sure her leg healed up was only a small bit of what he wanted to accomplish. There were other things. Seeing what she had to show him and showing her the light of the things he knew being only some of them.

To do this meant leaving. That was fine. His father would explain things well enough to his mother. Lamb was terrible at explaining anything to his mother anyway. He turned his dark face to look at her then nodded his head to the side to say 'come on'.

'Fair enough,' Fox replied, trying not to laugh out loud. Really, she had never been so amused by a foal's antics; not even when they attempted to be 'cute' in their silliness.

'Stubborn,' she coughed, as though she were masking the word but it was easy to make out still. And then she walked off, following the path of the river upstream and further inland. A half hour or so after setting off she would lead him off their path and away from the waters edge, but for now the sound of running water was still in their ears.

"Determined," Lamb countered with a satisfied smile. Finally they were off. Where to he didn't know but he wasn't particularly concerned with that bit of information. Silent as the night he trailed after the mare keeping several paces back to keep an eye on her injured leg. Things seemed perfectly fine with her so he didn't worry. The sound of rushing water made him laugh noiselessly.

He had left in the morning to find why the water flowed. What he had found was something much more interesting and important. How fortunate for him. He saw a good deal of knowledge and experience coming his way soon enough. It was a wonderful thought and it was the one that stayed with him as he followed Fox further and further away from his home without a fear in the world.
