Bones blinked at her before reached out and patting her on the head, just a motion that he was used to when dealing with people smaller than him. It was automatic. “You’re not a bother.” He smiled a bit for a moment before letting his hand slide away. It almost seemed like another little moment was starting to spark between them both, when suddenly…
There came a bright flash and a loud bang through the windows of the library. Shattering glass and yelling could be heard in panic outside, not to mention the flustered bookworms as well. Sounds of Pokémon slipping from their poke ball prisons could be heard, as something akin to a riot started in the street.

Lisa, being one of the aforementioned bookworms, leaped up without warning, almost slamming her small form into Bones. "Oh! Sorry, Bones." She said quickly, before turning her attention back to what was going on outside. Through the smoke and debris, she couldn't see real well. "What's going on?!" Lisa yelled as her hand instinctively went to her Pokemon's pokeball.

As the young man joined Lisa at her side to view the chaos from the nearest window, familiar sounds and voices reached his ears. Stomach churning to a sick tune, one brow furrowed in a mock observation of the current situation. Really, he was pissed and concerned...for the others but mostly himself. He couldn't afford more of this trouble. Feeling Cooper rock eagerly in his pokeball, it shifted against his chest lightly until he wrapped his hand around it. Gritting his teeth, he hissed out through them.
"Rockets."
It was true. A Koffing self-destruct and a smokescreen later the area was in mass turmoil, the people clad in black racing about in a mad dash to grab what they could. He knew the team had been desperate for new pokemon blood, but this was out of hand. Mass chaos, and no sirens. Yet.

Lisa was caught off guard by the smoke screen, inhaling a large amount of it. She backed off, coughing into her hand. "We have to stop them! Who knows how many people or pokemon could get hurt in this mess!" Lisa gave a few more coughs before taking a deep breath and diving into the smoke cloud, her hand grasping her Pokeball.

Bones hesitated at her words, until she started to race off. Reaching out after her, he was unable to grasp her wrist before she disappeared, much to his dismay. Lip raising in a snarl at this sudden situation they'd been thrown into, he put his long legs into motion following after her. Almost getting run into by a panicked person, and a skitty that he reconized from the base, he felt Cooper rock in his pokeball again. His friend knew the dangers.
Not yet.
Why now? Always to him. He could never get a break it seemed. Coughing deeply from the smog, it was starting to disperse finally. Blinking his crystal eyes, Bones thought he spotted the young woman not too far off. "Lisa!" He called urgently, placing a hand on the side of his mouth. One of the rockets was headed towards her, with a rather large rhydon behind him. Not good. "Look out!"

Lisa whirled around just in time to dodge one of the Rhydon's rock-hard fists. Her glasses were cracked and clouded with soot, so they provide her no help in seeing her foe. Not to mention the fact that they were about ten feet away from her. Lisa backed slowly away from the Rhydon, then whistled.
Charging from behind bones, a black, blue, and rust colored blur raced toward the large ground and rock type, hitting with a mighty force. The Houndoom bounced off the Rhydon, and landed between it and Lisa, its piercing, ice blue eyes staring down the other Pokemon threateningly.

They were really going to fight a raid horde of Rockets?! Bones would have laughed were the situation not as serious as it was. Running all out on his long legs, he quickly closed the gap between him and the events occurring. Tapping the latch on the pokeball around his next, his arcanine flashed into existance and paced beside him, running in tandem.
"Cooper, pin the hound. Don't hurt it." He ordered with stern eyes. This was serious.
Grasping at Lisa's arm in a somewhat commanding manner, he tugged her back. Dear goodness, he really hoped she'd forgive him for this. Right on cue the large striped dog pinned the other pokemon to the ground, snarling something awful at her.
"Agent Winters, I have this under control." Bones had his game face on, complete with a dark twinkle in his eyes. The uniformed rocket seemed skeptic until Bones produced an ID which the man nodded at.
"Take care of this sector." And with that the rhydon and its rocket owner turned to leave, the chaos springing up again in a roar around them.

Lisa turned to Bones, then to Cooper pinning Midnight to the ground, then to the Commander, then to Bones again. What was going on? It took her mind a few seconds to realize that the man who she had just met, the man who she had thought was a nice guy, was a rocket. She stared down at the ground, not knowing what to do. And if there was anything Lisa didn't like, it was not knowing something. She mentally sorted through her options with a sudden, almost cold calculative precision. The situation was dire, but, she concluded, there was nothing she could do. Slowly, she turned her head towards Bones, a vicious glare crossing her face, softened only by the tears of betrayal.
"Let. My. Pokemon. Go." She punctuated every word as if hoping they were envenomed daggers piercing the Rocket who held her arm. That's all she saw now, a Rocket. Just like her father. A cruel, heartless monster.

In the midst of her words Bones eyes seemed to flicker with some emotion even he couldn't identify. Now was not the time for this...no. With a swift whistle, the arcanine jumped back almost as if he'd been playing with the opposing pokemon, but a serious twinge in his eye told Midnight that he was prepared for her to come at him. He was used to this, as his pet human had trained him. Letting his tongue hang out lazily, the reverse 'R' mark on it was visible now. "Watch her boy." He snapped his orders to the arcanine with a forced bite to his words.
Another smokescreen enveloped the two as Bones gripped her arm more, pulling her a bit closer than Lisa'd previously been to his body. Almost touching now. "No. They've started the second wave." As if to accent this a Graveler self destructed not too far off. "You wouldn't last." His voice was darkly controlled when speaking to her now. It was an eerie switch.

Lisa looked toward Midnight, away from Bones. "Midnight, come, but don't attack." She said dryly, wanting the pokemon safely next to her. Then she turned to Bones, her hair overshadowing her eyes. She didn't even seem to notice the lack of space between them. "Why do you care if I get hurt? Why not have your Arcanine tear me to pieces right now, then steal away my Houndoom? What is it to you, Rocket, if my life ends here and now?"
Lisa didn't want to look at Bones face, she didn't want the Rocket to have a face. But he did, and it confused Lisa as to why some one who was so nice was also so cruel. A thick silence descended upon her, interrupted only by another explosion, the soot on her face only broken by streams of tears.

Cooper's ears drooped as his new 'friend' trotted away to her masters side. He then eyed Bones, knowing what he was supposed to do. Mock growling at them, it would have been more scary if he remembered to bare his fangs. The dog always forgot.
Bones wrapped his arms around her shoulders and hugged her to his chest as another explosion went off as his head lowered over hers. It was closer this time. The explosions were getting worse, this raid was bad. Someone had something they wanted.
Snarling his head rose. "Because, Cooper wouldn't hurt a fly even if I told him to. And I'm not part of this..." A hand pointed accusingly at the mayhem and screaming around them. "...so just shut up. If it's up to me, you're keeping your mutt." Ears hearing her last words, something in his chest stung. His name was BONES, not ROCKET. Taking it out on her a little, knowing she wasn't going let him off easy, he started to move towards a parked car, dented and sliced by a swift attack. Tugging her along a bit roughly, his grip never wavered.
It was days like this he hated his life.

Lisa didn't say anything as she was limply dragged along. She didn't even make a peep as a piece of twisted metal burrowed into her right ankle. She was too confused, to conflicted to do much of anything. How could this person be a Rocket, yet let her keep her Pokemon? How could this person be so different from the others? Was this a trap? But why did it feel so sincere?
Midnight's hackles were raised. She started barking at the two humans, her master and the other one who had her. She could sense the metal structure of a light pole above the car weakening, the creaking almost blaring in her ears. She looked toward Cooper, then started trotting towards the oblivious humans. There was nothing for it. She ran and pushed at the two humans as the pole made a sickening snapping sound.

Bones heard the sickening screech of twisting metal all to late, and cursed under his breath. His grip tightened on Lisa's wrist and tugged her forwards, but it wasn't going to be enough. Just as it was going to hit, a blur from the dark smog bashed into them forcing all three of them out of harms way. Bones landed on his back, the girl losing her balance and falling on top of him against his chest. The Houndoom didn't seem happy he'd put her in more danger, catching a snarl on Midnight's face.
Cooper was glad the other pokemon dashed after them, for now he was holding a rather large arbok at bay. The leader of this raid's pokemon was HUGE, even by normal standards. Lashing out at it with a bite attack, his coiled away over hot embers. More explosions.
"Someone's not playing our little game." A harsh voice chuckled through the smog, obviously uninhibited by it. "You're a Rocket's Pokemon..." Cooper quickly reeled in his tongue and flashed a band new set verbal complaints into the air. "...so why are you attacking me?" Cooper glanced back to see his pet human still recovering from a fall. Fluffing up further and bristling at the attack team leader, he tried to block the view of the trio to let them get away.

Lisa yelped as Bones tugged her, and in the heat of the moment, she forgot that Bones was a Rocket. She blushed as she lay on Bones. "Oh! I-I-I'm so sorry I didn't mean to land on you," she stuttered politely. She tried to get up, but her leg finally realized that a sizable chunk of it was missing. Lisa muffled the scream of pain as best she could before collapsing back onto Bones.
Midnight looked back at the Arcanine, some understanding managing to strike her, before letting loose her own Smoke Screen attack and grabbing Lisa's arm and dragging her away from the battle between the two pokemon. She could only drag her trainer very slowly, her body build more for agility, not raw power. The putrid smell of blood wasn't helping, either.
