Rednal came to a halt in an area of the outskirts, so far out from Soul Society that there were no buildings to be found for many miles around, and more importantly, an area where Soul Society's sensors weren't set to look. As a member of 10th Division, Rednal had access to all sorts of information... including the systems they used, systems he'd made for them to use, and knew the master controls for. It was always good to leave yourself a back door; he'd made sure that this area was considered unimportant. A moment later, he put a hand to his face as pain swept through his body. How long had it been since he had felt pain? A thousand years? More? How odd to notice it again after all this time. As it surged up, however, Rednal whispered,
"Millennium Castle Brunestud." A moment later, he was in his soulspace. Few Shinigami could enter it at will, though it wasn't impossible. Few even wanted to. Rednal had long since learned how, though, and it was here he went to meet with his beloved Flandre. The spirit was there
waiting for him, a grin on her face.
"About time you made it." she said. Rednal simply frowned.
"This energy..." Flandre just laughed, then vanished and reappeared in front of him.
"You've wanted more power, right?" she asked. Rednal nodded.
"However, as far as Shinigami abilities are concerned, I can't get any better. Why now? The only way to get more power..." "Is to ask me for it. Most Shinigami have their spirit change for their sword and their better half. But we're a little different. Too old, too strong for that sort of thing. It's all me, you see. It's always been me, since we merged together before even the accident."Outside of Rednal's soulspace, his body was lying on the ground. Fire erupted out of the ground, and ice burst out of nowhere in huge chunks before vanishing just as quickly as his body began to adjust itself.
"So. My lovely wife is also my Hollow half?" Rednal noted, raising an eyebrow. Flandre simply smiled at him.
"That's interesting. Well, then. I have wanted to get stronger; it's a bit boring being at the same level for so long. Let's do it." Flandre's expression
changed. A moment later, she slammed into him, then pressed her forehead against his.
Rednal woke up outside of his soulspace a moment later, and found something on his face. He reached up and pulled off a Mask.
"Hmph. Well, a little more power won't hurt, I suppose." his Zanpakuto had gone to Shikai at some point in the process, and Rednal picked it up. Ice surrounded the blade.
"Oh, come on, Flan! You're supposed to be a fire type; what's up with this!?" there was a giggle in his mind, and she told him. Rednal twitched. So she'd converted his Hollow power into herself to make it so that his sword could manipulate ice as well as it did fire? That wasn't right; Rednal had always preferred to use fire. And the ice was actually stronger than his flames? Even worse. He should have known something like this would happen. Well, he probably wasn't going to need such powers anyway. His flames were plenty strong even with only his Shikai release, and he had never lost anything but a sparring match against one of the other two while using it.
"Well, at least I'm good enough at controlling my powers to not have this be as much of a problem..." he'd kept his power so low for so long that it was simple to reduce himself back to being normal. Still... it was unfortunate to lose the feeling of truly being alive.
"Let's go."((Exit))
