Xenia did the same. She wasn't sure what a lake was either. "Is it pretty?"

((Short post of doooooooooooom.))

Bhekizitha grinned. "Alright then, I'll show you two the lake. And I think it's pretty, but I don't know what you two will think." He smiled and stood, slowly heading across the grasslands toward Lake Victoria. "Now, the water in the lake can be pretty deep, so don't go in unless you can swim. I don't want something to happen to either of you."

Adonis's face instantly lit back up at the thought of an adventure, so he leapt to his paws and pranced ahead of the cheetah. Funny, he was willingly wandering away with a random pride member whom he didn't even know the name of. But alas, he was only a cub. He glanced back with an impatient smile, knowing that his sister would be just as excited - if not more - than he.

Xenia leapt up and dashed after her brother with an excited squeal. She needed to squeal extra loud for the both of them. “Wait up, Donny!” she laughed, knowing that her brother would rather race her. She would rather race, too, but running was more fun when she got to shout.

She paid no mind to where they were going, except on occasion when she looked back to make sure Bhek was still in sight. No doubt he would outrun them soon. She remembered how fast he could run. Faster than a bird! Faster than a dragon fly! Look out, here he comes! “This is going to be so cool!”

The cubs' excitement made Bhek laugh and he trotted a tad faster as they began to run, keeping only a short ways behind them. "Yeah, the lake is pretty cool. We can play in the water, find some shells, and maybe even catch a fish or two." He stated warmly, his bright green eyes trained carefully on the pair of younger felines before him.

Adonis smiled competitively, his churring, silent laughter rumbling in his chest. He raced ahead, able to hear his sister's crashing pawsteps through the grass gaining on him. The race was on! His paws pulled him forward even faster.

Then he smelled it: the crisp, fresh smell of water, the same smell that he found in a puddle in the forest. But this was different; it was richer and fuller. Suddenly, Adonis had the most peculiar sensation. He felt wet - no, absolutely drenched! - and the water was growing heavier in his fur as he neared their destination. Overcome with confused curiosity, he glanced down at himself as if to see what had splashed him. His fur was shimmering with what might have been mistaken for wetness, were it not for the fact that it was fluffily being tousled in the breeze. He was dry, but not.

Putting the strange moment aside, he looked back up to see where he was going - there it was! A vast, glossy lake stretched before his eyes as he crested a slight hill, its deep blue surface rippling in the wind. Lake Victoria.

(lykeomghisfirstvision!!! But it's a sekrit, so shhhhhhh ;D)

When the bright blue lake rose over the hill Xenia dug her back paws into the earth kicking up pebbles and dirt as she spun around and scampered back behind Adonis. She peered over her older brother’s shoulder at the lake. The water looked so big! It was almost like grassland, except instead of grass there was only miles and miles of shimmering blue water.

After a couple of seconds Xenia crept out from behind her brother. Her ears perked and her tail rose with interest. “Woooooooooooooooooooooooow! Look at that, Donny! Is that the lake?”

She stretched up on her little paws. If she squinted she could almost see the other side. Or was that just the horizon? To this little lepon, Lake Victoria might as well have been the ocean. She dearly wanted to get closer but fear kept her wisely beside her brother. Bhek said it would be bad to go in the water, since she couldn’t swim.

"Yes, that's the lake. It's pretty, isn't it?" He asked cheerfully as he lead the younger felines closer to the water's edge. "Now, be careful. The water is shallow at the edge, but it can get very deep quickly so don't go out too far." He ordered, moving so that the bottom half of paws was covered with water.

Mesmerized, Adonis crept up to the water's edge by his new friend. He saw that the water didn't carry him away, so Adonis himself slid a shaky paw into the cool liquid. It lapped at his fur; the cold went straight to his skin, to his very bones. It was a soothing feeling, like a nanny licking his pelt. The little black cub took another few steps closer, and the water had already passed his short legs and brushed against his belly. It was a shocking sensation, but he somehow liked it. He looked encouragingly at his sister, inviting her to join him in this new adventure.

More cautious than her brother, Xenia hung back until Adonis was almost waist deep in the water. She dipped one paw in the shallows and recoiled slightly at the cold waters, easing herself in gradually until she had to crane her neck above the water and only her shoulders touched the surface. Suddenly she felt her paws start to lift off the silty bottom. She let out a cry somewhere between fear and exhilaration. The sensation was alien to the young cub who had spent all her life with four paws on the ground or at most on solid tree branches. She kicked her feet, trying to get her paws back on the lake bed. Sand flew from the bottom as her little body drifted in the direction of her forelegs, almost like running on air. Xenia giggled at her discovery.

When she moved her paws above the surface she found she could make the water leap through the air – splashes! Xenia did not know what splash meant. She had never heard the word before, but she understood the reaction intuitively after a few experimental slaps of the surface and, if she had to come up with a word for it, she probably would have called it splashing.

He watched the two cubs carefully, following them out into the water. "Now make sure you don't go out too far, alright? Right there is good but it could get too deep farther out, alright?" He warned as the cheetah moved out so that he was even in the water with the two. "It's fun out here isn't it?" Bhek asked with a grin as he flicked a small splash at Xenia.

Adonis was encouraged by Bhek's words, agreeing that it could very well be "fun" out here. The small black cub waded out a little farther to where his sister was, splashing all the way. He slapped his tail against the surface of the water. The smack tingled in his tail, but it made a very big splash, so he daringly decided to sidle right up next to his sister, and he kicked as hard as he could in the water to jump up slightly, coming back down with a playful splash in her face. Grinning widely, he made his odd, muffled, churring laugh.

Xenia giggled and pounced on her brother, putting her arms around his neck but not trying to drag him under. The little leopon showed signs of developing an early love of water.

Bhekizitha's eyes never left the pair of young cubs, smiling at them happily. They were so cute. He loved watching little ones, just because they were so innocent. The cheetah let the pair play for a long while before he herded them back to land. The sun had sank lowerer in the sky, so Bhek knew they had been out for awhile. "Alright then, it's time for us all to head back. Don't want the nannies to start worrying. They'd have my head." He laughed, and with that drove the pair back to the dens.
