Peaceful Demigod

PostPosted: Tue Mar 17, 2009 11:07 am

Prompt #1
name: dawns_aura
seathi name: Anming (chinese meaning "Peaceful clarity")
word count: six hundred something

Response:

She often watched the large land dwelling soquili that played amongst the waves of her home. She watched, lonely and longing. In her mind, she came up with tales of life outside of the lagoon- life amongst the land dwellers- life without notions of blood supremacy and prejudice. She sighed with longing, if only she could live like that.

The day was bright, the waters warm, and the beach with the potential of meeting, finally meeting and, possibly befriending, a land dwelling soq called to the little mare like a siren song. Today would be the day!

As she swam further from the coral reef that was her home, far away from the safety of the lagoon which was her world, Anmi could hear elders and other adults calling out to her, warning her, trying to get her to stop this journey and exploration. Toning them out, Anmi swam onward.

Closer and closer to the shore she got. Soon she got caught in a wave and was shoved onto the beach, and no matter what she did, she couldn't return to the waters of her home. The waves were just too strong, and the water she was in too shallow. Growing fearful and agitated, the little white female did the only thing she could think of.

"HELP!!"

Amadahy left the forest to travel to the oceanside to collect a few plants that were beneficial. She grumbled, disliking the need to leave her peaceful home in the forest, but this was the only time she would be able to travel to collect the plants. Oh well. As a healer it was her duty, and it was a duty she took very seriously.

Amongst the dunes, she walked carefully, combing through the tall grasses, looking for the elusive weeds and flowers she needed. For hours she bent down lifting individual strands of grass and other plants out of her way. Standing up to stretch her protesting back muscles she heard a faint high pitched cry. It was so faint and lasted only a short moment, Amadahy could have convinced herself it was only a figment of her imagination, but she stood still waiting to see if she would hear it again. If she did, she would drop everything and go to see what she could do- after all, she was a healer and it was her nature to try and rescue any being in distress.

There it was again! Holding to her promise to herself, Ama dropped the few plants she had managed to gather and rushed over the dune to the beach where the noise was originating. Spotting a blindingly white creature, she rushed over. This was the source of the cry, the one who needed her help. Walking over briskly and staying in the creature’s line of sight, Ama went to work.
As far as she could see, the little one’s only problem was it was unable to return to the depths of it’s home. Looking closer at the being, she was surprised to note that it looked like the mer-soq of legend, only, it was too small. Delighted to see one of her favorite story character in the flesh so too speak, she was determined to help.
Carefully she stretched out her hand, palm up, to the creatures muzzle. Allowing it to become familiar with her scent so hopefully it wouldn’t hurt her when she tried to help. Seeing the white ring of fear recede from her eyes, Ama released the breath she had been holding.

“Easy, little one, I’m here to help.” Keeping her voice light and soothing, Ama suited words to action. Leaning lightly against the little one she slowly pushed her back out to the ocean.

``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
The feel of the ocean water back around her, cradling her in its comfort, was almost too much. Anmi looked back at the being who helped her. Finally she had proof that even though those without seathi blood were different it didn’t make them inferior. So with a brilliant smile on her face, Anming swam home.
Notes: sorry, this went over the word limit a bit.
Prompt #2
Name: Lita Rutherford
Seathi Name: Ciqala Cha'kwaina (1st = Dakota for Little One; 2nd = Hopi for One Who Cries; Roughly: Little One Who Cries)
Response:
“That isn’t good to drink Forest!” Lita pulled the mare’s head out of the way and shook her head before something quivering caught her eye. “Forest, I think that’s…well some kind of water Soq…talk to it.” She said, her voice growing soft.
Forest squinted and lowered her head so she could see the tiny foal. “You there, what’s your name?” She questioned.
The little colt jolted, his eyes wide as he stared up at the giants above him. “Don’t eat me!” He screamed before franticly trying to hide in the sand.
Forest laughed. “We aren’t going to eat you, little…thing. What do we look like, Kalona?” She rolled her eyes. “What are you?” She’d never seen something like him before. “And your name, kid, what is your name?”
“I..I..I’m a…a Seathi….” He stuttered out. He peered up at them again, sniffling in fear. “I..its...Ciqala Cha'kwaina"
“Relax Cigala, we don’t eat little Seathis. Why are you in this little puddle of water?”
“S…Storm…” He whimpered. “Daddy…” He started to cry, terrified.
“Oh…Forest what did you say?” Lita sighed and lifted the scared colt, holding him gently. “Shh, there there, little one. Its alright. Shh, its ok.”
The colt blinked. It sounded like how his parents would comfort him. Closing his eyes he nuzzled the hand gently, sniffling.
“Lets see if we can get you back home.” Lita stood and moved to the edge of the lagoon. Kneeling she placed the colt back in the water.
Startled, he opened his eyes and looked around. He was back in the water! Quickly he swam off in search of his home.
“Well looks like we’re done.” Lita turned. “Lets go Forest.” She smiled and the two started to walk away. Suddenly Forest stopped and in confusion Lita followed her gaze. Desperately trying to crawl out of the water, mouth open in tiny yells, the foal was making his way back after them.
Forest turned and walked to the little rascal. “What are you doing? Go home, kid.” She snorted, lowering her head.
“Can’t find home….” He whimpered. “And the Lagoon is so big…” he sniffled. “I’ll never find daddy again…” He cried.
Forest sighed and shook her mane until it hung down. “Climb in. And hold on tight.” She rolled her eyes. He was becoming a hassle.
Blinking the colt clung to the mane and wiggled his way through the thick, dense mane until he was sitting atop her head. His eyes, bright and wide with curiosity and wonder, looked around. “…this…is…so…COOL!” He exclaimed, fear suddenly gone.
Turning Forest headed back to Lita. When the two legger looked at her with confusion she merely shook her head gently and blinked at the “Woah!” her hair emitted.
“Oh well” Lita said. “I guess you can keep him. Sure hope he can live in fresh water, or else we’ll be making another trip back….” She shook her head and they headed home.
Prompt #1
Name: Kaimana
Response: [[ Fleurety, the little helper in this prompt. ]]
Someone was approaching. She scrabbled in the sand with her forelegs in an attempt to push herself back into the water – she was desperate by this point. ‘Please get back into the sea. Pleas –‘
“…What are you doing?” The sudden voice caused Kaimana to jump. She jerked her head back, only to be face to face with…someone who was rather small. Certainly smaller than some of the other land-dwellers she had observed. The petite thing rose a brow, cocking her head to the side as her gaze swept over the Seathi with interest. “My, haven’t seen anyone like you around here.” She commented, a frown spreading across her face as she noticed that Kaimana’s eyes were still glued to her in shock.
“You evidently haven’t seen much of my kind either. Not up close, at least? My name is Fleur –“
“You…you’re so small! Are you a foal? Where are your parents?”
Kaimana watched as the stranger pinned her ears back in irritation. “W-well,” The seathi piped up hastily, “I mean, I haven’t quite seen any land-dwellers as…uh, ‘small-boned’ at you…?”
The irritation remained on the stranger’s face for a moment longer, dissolving when she sighed. “As I was saying, my name is Fleurety. I’m not a foal – kindly don’t call me one again – but I am an Usdia. We’re a little smaller than othe –“
“There…there are big land-dwellers and small ones?” Kaimana asked, her interest piqued. She tilted her head to the side, green eyes large with curiosity. “Are they all grumpy like you? Or are they nice? Are some dangerous? How are they dangerous? What if – “ She cut herself off, suddenly aware that she had been out of water for a while, and was starting to feel a little lightheaded.
“Everyone is different,” Fleurety said simply, “Some are friendly, some aren’t. I’m sure it’s the same with your kind. The uh...”
“Seathi.” Kaimana supplied weakly.
“Right, the sea - …are you alright?” The indifference on Fleurety’s face faded into alarm as she lowered her head to look at Kaimana, her brows coming together in mild worry.
“Um…I’m okay.” Kaimana tried to assure the Usdia. However Fleurety stared at her skeptically, the problem finally dawning on her. “Water. Should you be out of the water?”
“It’s okay!” Kaimana said hastily, before lowering her voice slightly, “I want to learn more about you and the other land-dwellers.” Her ears had flattened as she looked down, the perfect picture of a sad, dejected Seathi. Emitting an exasperated sigh, Fleurety started nudging Kaimana toward the waves. “I’ll visit tomorrow, and tell you some more if you want.”
“Really?” The pair of green eyes lit up.
“Yes. Now…shoo. Back into the water.” With Fleurety’s nudging, and Kaimana pushing with her forelegs, the seathi soon found herself rising and falling with the waves.
“I’ll meet you here tomorrow!” Kaimana called, watching as Fleurety responded with a nod. Grinning, she dived down into the ocean.
Wait until the others heard about this!
Prompt #1
Owners Name: Skylar14
Seathi Name: Karine (Kari for Short)
Response:
The sun was beginning to get extremely hot and her scaly skin was beginning to dry out. She needed to get back into the water as soon as possible but the sound of steps kept getting closer and closer and she kept her eyes as tight as she possibly could. She did not want to see the creature that would surely kill her when it found her laying there helpless.
Settia walked casually along the beach. It was a beautiful day and she hadn’t a care in the world. As she walked she could see something strange lying on the beach. Upon further inspection she found it to resemble a mer-soquili only much smaller. Maybe it was a foal?
Hello there, small one.” She called to it in a gentle voice. She could see that it was scared as it lay there with its eyes squeezed shut and it was shivering slightly.
Karine just laid there and hoped that if she did not answer whatever it was that it would go away but that wasn’t the case. It spoke to her again and told her to not be afraid. Ha! That was easier said then done, especially since she was upset with herself for not listening to the other Seathi.
Settia laid down near the little mer-foal and watched it. She decided to just keep talking to it until it finally came to the conclusion that she wasn’t going to hurt it. “What are you doing here all by yourself? Your parents must be awfully worried about you.” She said to the mer-foal and waited patiently.
Parents? This made Karine open a single eye to see what it was that was talking to her. It’s gentle voice surely didn’t sound like something that was going to eat her and it had asked about her parents which was just plain strange. Besides, if it was going to eat her then it would have skipped the small talk and would have just gotten it done and over with by now.
Settia smiled as the mer-foal finally opened its eyes to look at her. “There now, I will not harm you.” She said again to reassure it. “My name is Settia and what is your name young mer-foal?” she asked.
Karine looked at the land soquili and just had to laugh. Here she was, stuck on a beach, thinking she was going to die only to be found by a land soquili that thought she was the foal of a mer-soquili. This was just too funny and she really couldn’t help herself. It was all rather ironic. “First of all, I am not a mer-soquili, I am a Seathi and a full grown one at that. Secondly, my name is Karine but you can call me Kari.” She said after getting her laughing under control. At least, she was still alive and not dead, though she did wish she had a friend back home that she could tell the tale to later.
Prompt #1
Name:
Capricorn Sunchai
[[ The soquili in the prompt is Ayelen, and if chosen I'll pick a name afterward. <3 ]]
Response:
She thrashed, wriggled, squirmed; nothing the poor thing could do would free her from and sand and bring her back into the water. Struggling fearfully, her mane stuck to her face and across her eyes; the shadow that she was trying so desperately to get away from now loomed overhead. Any moment it would come, searing pain that-
"Do you... need some help?"
The voice that spoke was not angry; nothing touched her and caused her harm. Opening a single green eye, she warily looked up. The eyes that stared back were a beautiful cerulean like the sea, set on a face that was creased with a worried smile. The larger land dweller had laid herself on the ground to get closer without causing panic to set in. The seathi stayed quiet, looking back at the other mare with an awestruck expression.
It was then she noticed the other's wings, folded tightly to her back and groomed neatly into place. Her eyes went wide, rolling onto her belly to look at them the right direction. Wings? She could dwell in two places?
"Would you like a push back?" the mare spoke softly again, lowering her head to look at the seathi, "I was just passing when I saw you wash up… I couldn't just leave you to dry out in the sun."
Her eyebrows rose, startled at her words. She just wanted to help? She wasn't going to eat her? "A-are... you sure?" she mumbled quietly in response, casting a longing gaze to the water, "You're... not g-going to eat me, are you...?"
The winged mare laughed softly, shaking her head. "Not in my dreams," she replied, "I wouldn't dare harm another thing that walked or swam on this earth." Shaking her mane from her eyes, she cautiously reached her nose towards the smaller one to show her she meant not harm. The seathi obliged and carefully sniffed at her, smelling things she had never even caught a whiff of before; grass, dirt... what else could it be?
Flopping clumsily (and still warily) towards her, she slipped her tail around the winged mare's front leg. "If you get m-me out there I'll be okay," she said quietly, still rather unsure of this situation. Taking her offer was better than baking in the sun, however. The soquili stood carefully and took several slow, graceful steps to the water, lifting her hooves high so the little seathi wouldn't be knocked away by the incoming waves. When it was deep enough the mare stopped, allowing the sea-dweller to let go and drift freely in the water.
"T-thank you," she murmured over the gentle rolling of the waves. The wind mare nodded, a smile in her eyes before she turned and waded back to the shore; tail trailing in long black tendrils along behind her. The seathi bobbed in the water for a moment before diving back down to the colorful depths where she belonged, realizing she hadn't even caught her savior's name.
Prompt #1
Name: Azael_Rose
Seathi Name: Tenger, hungarian for Sea
Response:
The small mare Seathi quickly regretted her choice to swim past the reef and safety of her home. The waves pushed her up on shore where she stayed struggling to get back in the water. In the corner of her brilliant emerald eyes, she saw a dark shape moving towards her. Her fins flapped helplessly against the beach as she wiggled to get away. The thing came closer and a wave crashed over Tenger.
A two-legged creature crouched down in the sand making sure to keep the simple dress she wore dry, even with the waves still rolling over the shore. Tenger stopped and stared up at the gentle oval face. Her skin was paler than the other two-leggeds she had seen. Even her hair was lighter, wispier with hints of copper and reds. This one was different like her.
The two-legged didn't say a word as she picked her up, but her lips curved into a gentle smile. The Seathi instinctively wrapped her tail around the human's finger. For a second she felt a peace, a peace that could only be found where she belonged. The woman, as Tenger realized she was female, slowly moved her right hand out to brush the tiny Seathi's head. Tenger stilled waiting for the touch, it was soft and gentle like the rest of this human. She gave a small whinny of content.
Finally the woman spoke, her voice was as calming as the rolling waves and loud enough to be heard over it, "What is your name?"
"Tenger," She squeaked.
The woman smiled again. "What were you doing so far away from your home, Tenger?"
The Seathi glanced back towards the lagoon. She had known it as home but now it seemed so far away. For the first time she had a chance to get away from the other stuffy Seathi who had looked down on her since she was a child. Maybe it was fate that the wave had caught her up in its course.
"I don't have a home..." She looked back at the human, still wrapped around her finger.
For just a brief second, a look passed over the young woman's face but quickly vanished. "Is that so? Well I believe we can change that." She started to cross the beach. "I'll take you home."
The sun began to set, casting its orange glow across the water where Tenger had once called home. Much further up the beach on the eastern end of the lagoon where the beach became rocks, was a small camp. That was to be her new home and the mare looked up at her new companion and smiled. She finally belonged.
Prompt #2
Name: Tamahi
Response:
The little Seathi curled up into a small ball when he noticed a shadow over him. He didn't dare to peek out of his meager state and dug deeper into the sand, fearing to be gobbled up the moment he did.
“Are you alright? I'm not going to hurt you.” A voice warbled through the water. Though the words made him relax a bit, he still refused to unfurl or look at the shadowy figure again.
“L-leave me alone!” The foal managed to sputter out. Some monsters lure out prey with kind words.
There was silence. Tamahi wondered if the thing left. He opened one eye enough to see that it did leave, but only for a second. When he began unraveling himself, a gush of water slammed into him and he curled up again.
Another period of stillness. Then more water poured in. And more. The foal suddenly realized what was happening after around the fourth time. The shadow was dumping in water! He wasn't going to die when the pool dried up! He'll be eaten by it instead!
“You better be worth the trouble.” It grumbled as more water was poured in. “This basket is really heavy...”
Tamahi could hear panting coming from it when he listened. Any predator wouldn't waste time and energy making him more comfortable in the pool, would it? Part of him still remained cautious and afraid. But it looked like it was doing this to help him, and he wouldn't let the effort go to waste by cowering here at the bottom.
“P-please... Help me get back to the ocean.”
“Yeah. I figured that you don't live in tide pools, whatever you are.”
“Seathi.” He was close enough to see that the shadow was a Soquili of the vegan kind. A black mare with a purple mane and tail.
“That's your name?”
“N-no. I'm a S-seathi. My name's T-tamahi.”
“Nice to meet you. I'm Zillzee.”
He couldn't believe that he was conversing with a land Soquili! And she was trying to save his life! Except... how was she going to do that exactly?
“It looks like you can fit in this basket. It's for foals after all. I'll pick you up with it and pour you into the sea. Is that alright?”
Tamahi found that he couldn't say anything from being too shocked. He could only nod weakly.
The next thing he knew, he was scooped up in the instant and could feel the bottom and sides of the basket. The slick feeling of the reeds scared him enough to thrash around and panic. Maybe this wasn't a good idea after all!
And as quick as he was fished out of the pool, he was placed into the ocean. His heart was still beating fast from the experience but he managed to look up and utter a small 'thank you'.
“Don't mention it.” was the last thing he heard before Tamahi dove into the blissfully deep water.
((This is Zillzee btw.))
Prompt #2
Name: cursedandwandering
Seathi name: Maleko a hawaiian name meaning "of the sea"
Response: (500 words exact) Irena had managed to get lost, again, in these lands. She had gone searching for water, somehow managing to end up at a rocky beach. She gazed out in awe at the large foaming waves that crashed against large boulders, the water puddling in on stones and seaweed being tossed ashore. Relieved that she had managed to find water, not knowing just how salty ocean water can be she made her way towards the shore. The rocks beneath her hooves were slippery and rough, her legs growing damp as the waves splashed up, her fur clumping in places that had gotten wet. Several times she had almost slipped, barely managing to keep her balance.
Not wanting to risk falling she decided to head to one of the pools that had gathered on top of the stones. Craning her neck she bent down to get a sip of the cool water, imagining the feeling of it running down her dry and rough throat, but just before she was about to take a sip her eyes jerked open. There was something in the water staring at her! She pulled back and quickly stumbled backwards, not knowing what the creature was she looked at the pool terrified, awaiting some monstrous beast to emerge. There was nothing, barely even a ripple on the surface of the pool in response.
In the tidal pools shallow depths a small seathi boy sat, curled so tightly into a ball that it was almost hard to make out what he was, his tiny form shook with fear and despair. Nameless at the time, his father had been planning on giving him a name once he had fully grown, though it was doubtful that he would even live that long. The boy cowered in fear of this large creature that had almost drunk the last of his water.
The doe frowned when nothing happened and edged back towards the pool, perhaps she had been seeing things? She hadn’t, and surely enough the boy was still there. It was obvious the small foal, or at least she thought it was some sort of foal, was frightened and she took a deep breath to calm herself. Helping this tiny creature was much more important than her fears. “H-hello…” she mumbled awkwardly staring down into the pool.
The young boys eyes widened and he curled tighter, ”don’t talk to other species,” he chanted within his mind, remembering what his father had told him. He didn’t want to be eaten because he didn’t respond! It was quite the dilemma, and he opened his mouth to say something but all that came out was a tiny bubble of air. He couldn’t do it. Couldn’t betray his father by being in contact with someone of another species. He thought of his father sadly, was he never to him again?
Irena frowned; she knew what it was like to be nervous. “Hey… it’s ok,” she smiled, “just grab on and I’ll lift you out of here.”
Prompt #1
Name: Pamoiya [from Pamuya: Hopi for "Water Moon"]
Response:
What’s this one?
Ehh… I don’t know?
What about that one?
Haven’t got a clue.
And this one over here? Round, silver grey eyes peered up, from the dirt smudged little face of a rogue Indian child, at the stallion at his side with wonder. The runt, aptly named Dirt Mouse by his guardian, crouched beside one of the numerous shells in the sand. He pointed at it as he had every other they’d come across and requested the name of each. Admittedly Gvnega Tsuna, his guide and the pride of the Kawani village, had grown a little agitated after what felt like the millionth shell they’d run into. He knew much of the lands around his tribe, but the mountains and the ocean were as mysterious to him as what lay in wait in the afterlife. Tsuna could only give vague answers to the boy’s fountain of questions, his curiosity unquenchable, A shell is a shell is a shell Dirt. Perhaps we should ask a…
Yet it seemed, as cream colored eyes grazed the spot Dirt pointed with half-hearted interest, that he had discovered something all together foreign. A writhing white and grey fleck just outside the grasp of the waves left an indentation in the wet sand where it had struggled futilely to return to the lagoon that was its home. Well.. that’s not a shell at all..
Pacing tentatively closer to get a better view of the creature the stallion’s ears piqued with a renewed interest. It looked like some diminutive cousin of the Mersoquili yet its tail was naked of a caudal fin.
Pamoiya curled into a tight ball, shivering with fright at the voices that loomed over her head. She needed help getting back to the water yet couldn’t find the bravery to face the giants, tucking her face into her forelegs in hope that they might pass her by. No luck. The sand shifted beneath her tiny body and soon warm hands were carefully cradling her body. Vibrant eyes squinting shut as panic gripped her heart, mourning the fact that she couldn’t find happiness in the moment she had always dreamed of. Unfamiliar voices causing her ears to twitch as they spoke. Spoke about her.
It’s shaking…
Best put it back where it came from, Dirt. Can’t imagine it’s too good for that thing to be out of the water long.
The little mare couldn’t see the child’s disappointed expression or his obedient nod as he shuffled closer to the water’s edge and dipped his cupped hands beneath the surface. Pamoiya felt the warm currents surge around her and without a second thought rushed from the platform that held her delicate figure. Kicking her tiny hooves as she scrambled for the nearest cove. However, as her fear subsided a giddy rush of excitement pooled in its place. Plucking up her courage the little sea pony wiggled her tail to poke up along the surface of the water, shouting eagerly and bobbing upon the waves.
I’m not an it or a thing! I’m Pamoiya! And I’m a Seathi!
It's a little over 500 words. I tried really hard to shorten it as much as possible. x3;;
Prompt #2
Name: kitsune_reflection
Seathi name: Ashkii
Response:
The water was getting saltier. Ashkii didn’t much like the taste of it, but what could he do? He was just a whee little thing, the runt of the litter… he couldn’t even hold on the rest of his siblings, and daddy had said to hold on tight and not to let go, but he couldn’t, he really couldn’t. “I tried,” he murmured, and closed his eyes. It had been getting warmer in the pool, how much longer until there was no more water left? He’d never get home, he’d –
Ashkii froze as something passed between him and the sun, painting the inside of his eyelids black.
“What are you doing there little one?” a strangely distorted voice asked.
“It’s the winged beast!” Ashkii screamed. He snapped open his eyes and paddled furiously to the other end of the pool.
“Hey. It’s all right,” said the voice, “I’m not a winged beast.”
Trembling, Ashkii turned and looked at the monster. Oh, it was horrible! A flat face and perched on two legs, covered in the skins of dead animals – “Don’t eat me!” he screamed.
“I won’t eat you,” said the monster.
“That’s what all the monsters say.”
“All of them? You must be very brave and strong, to have seen monsters and gotten away.”
“I am the st-strongest seathi. The biggest. And if you don’t go away, I’m going to, to, to eat you. Like this”
The monster took a step back. “Now that wouldn’t be very nice! Please have mercy, dear seathi. But tell me. What are you doing out here, in the tide pool? Are you lost?“
“No. And stay away from me!”
“All right, all right. But you can’t stay in there either. Do you think you can make it out on your own?”
“No,” the seathi sniffed. “I’m too little.”
“You don’t look that little to me. If you got in there, you can get out. The ocean really isn’t that far. Do you see that gap, right there? I don’t know if you can crawl on land…”
“It’s too far,” Ashkii said in a small voice. “The bird beasts will eat me.”
“No they won’t,” said the monster in a surprisingly kind voice. “I’ll scare them away. Now try, I’m sure you can do it.”
“All, all right,” Ashkii sniffed. Cautiously, he poked his head out of the water and looked at the gap the monster had mentioned. It was so far away! But he had to try. Gathering all of his strength, he hauled himself out of the water with his forelegs and started to climb. How it hurt to drag himself like that! But he didn’t ask for any help, certainly not from the monster. He was a big boy, he could do it.
“The sea!” he cried joyfully.
“I told you you could it,” said the monster.
Ashkii said nothing, merely smiled and slid down to the water, the blessed cool ocean.
Prompt #1
Name: Cordelia "Of the Sea"
Response:
Cordelia struggled with all of the might she could muster, but her fins were useless in the strange environment. She gazed around her in panic, her stronger front limbs attempting to gain some purchase in the wet sand around her. Her sides heaved, longing for the calm, soothing expanse of the water that was only a short distance away. Granted, she found that she could breathe in this strange environment, but it felt strange. She wanted to be back in the water. Gathering what breath she could, she did the only thing left that she could do. She screamed for help.
Far up the beach, a young stallion named Jasper was admiring the view of the sea, basking in the tranquil sounds of the gentle lapping water, the quiet calls of the seabirds, the pitiful cries for help... With a start, Jasper gazed around in concern and launched down the sand, attempting to locate the source of the sound. He spied a small figure in the sand and he hurried over. As soon as he got a closer look though, he stopped and stared for a second, unable to help himself. In all of his travels, which admittedly wasn't much, he'd never seen such a thing.
Cordelia heard sounds nearby and her eyes roving, she caught sight of the large brown stallion standing a short distance away. She didn't pause for a second to think that he could be a possible threat. She simply stared at him for a second before speaking.
"Help me." she demanded. The stallion's eyes widened, but he nodded and stepped forward, gently but quickly nudging her back into the water. As the gentle, familiar feel of it caressed her tail, then her sides, and finally her head, she took several deep breaths before resurfacing.
"Thank you very much!" she said, sincerely grateful. The stallion still stared at her, as if unsure of what to say. Finally he spoke.
"What . . . who are you?"
Cordelia smiled before answering, "I'm a Seathi of course! And my name is Cordelia." Playfully, she splashed a little bit of water in his direction before she hurried back to deeper water.
Jasper was left standing, gazing in wonder at the smooth expanse of the ocean. His rational half was telling him that he was simply imagining things and that lying down would probably be a good thing to do. However, his other half was telling him that yes, he had just seen what he thought he'd seen, and it was agreeing with the other half about lying down. Still blinking in wonder, Jasper slumped down into the sand and laughed.
Prompt #1
Name: Ac.Wings
Seathi’s Name: Su’Nerine
The sand, heavy with the sea’s being, held her small body like an octopus chokes it’s prey. The minerals weighed her down and constricted her once admired dark fins as the shallow water slopped around her knees. Not a muscle could be moved without entrapping another in the thick sand. Rocks scrapped at her flesh, causing shallow wounds to open, and the greedy salt to burn the torn skin. Green eyes once said to be as beautiful as the tastiest seaweed flashed with panic. They pleaded for help and for the pain to go away. It hurt…the land she loved the most hurt.
Trapped. That was the final word to cross Su’Nerine’s mind before she shut her eyes. It was better to lock herself away in the darkness than to see her own demise. If only the action transformed the world around her back to her coral reef home in the land below. Why couldn’t the sea rise in a great tidal wave and swallow this realm up? Eat it all up. For this land, she had come to dream of, to walk upon and join those on high legs; was not the land of mercy she had believed it to be.
As certain death neared all the young lass could dream of was the faces of those she left behind. Their jaws slack with shock and dismay as great fear painted their eyes. For a moment Su’Nerine truly believed they cared for her.
Slowly the young Seathi drew herself into the ground in an attempt to make herself as small as possible. Lying so close she could hear the hoof beats drawing near. All she wished for now was to be finished off quick. Let the Gods of the sea have mercy on her poor soul. Her desire for the land was too great, but perhaps they could spare just an ounce of her spirit so she could go into the next world.
Suddenly, Su’Nerine felt something soft, like what she believed a cloud would feel like, grace against her slick flesh. Had the winged Seathi spirits come to take her away? Did the Gods really pity her poor broken soul?
“A-Are you alright!? E-Excuse m-me! P-Please…open your eyes!”
As slowly as she closed them, the young lass opened her eyes to see a small miniature four-leg standing over her. Wings rested upon her back and shimmering coral sat on her forehead. Trundles of brown and cream hair fell all over the little one’s face as she stared down at her with panic. The same panic that lied upon the faces of the others back home. This little one, the child of a giant beast, cared for her? Her? The foolish one?
Before Su’Nerine could utter a word of thanks or even hello she was being pushed back into deeper waters. The little one was begging for her to swim, to live, to survive! In time the waves swallowed her up, Su'Nerine realized she was back in her realm of the living in seconds. Just like that, her greatest fear had come to save her. It was...beautiful, even more beautiful than the world above. Perhaps, she thought, she'd return to see that small child and thank her for what she had done. That little one, with her voice all a twitter, cared for her.
Prompt #2
Name: Finbar
Response:
It was Thea's first trip to the ocean, she was now a month old, her parents thinking it would be good for her and her siblings to see it. She had been told not to wander too far off, and she didn't think she was too far off, she could still hear them over the crash of the waves. She bounded along the sand until she came across the tide pools, finally someplace small enough for her to get her feet wet, without the fear of waves crashing into her. She dove into the first one with a splash, landing all four feet in at once, and bounced again and again. Until she heard a scream from one of them.
Finbar lay huddled in one of the pools, as he watched the four-legged creature bound closer, and closer to his tiny pool. When he saw that his pool would be next to be trampled into oblivion, all he could do was scream.
Thea had stopped mid-bound, skidding to a halt next to the pool. "Who screamed?" She asked looking all around, not expecting it to be from the water.
Finbar tried to make himself as small as he could, but he couldn't stop himself from shaking with fright. When the strange creature didn't go away, he shook even more and he knew he was a goner, this creature was sure to hear his shaking and splashing. "Please don't eat me." He gasped out finally.
Thea had almost given up when he spoke again, which spooked her. Only a few moments later did she realize it had come from the water, how strange. She stepped forward once more to see what was in the water.
"Oh please, oh please don't eat me." He pleaded, his head buried between his front legs, only one eye visible to see what might be about to eat him, and he shut it as soon as he saw it coming for him.
'What was this thing?' She thought to herself, it sort of had the head of a foal, but the back-end of something else entirely. But one thing was for certain, she wasn't going to eat it, but how could she make it think that. "My food doesn't talk." She said after a moment. "Are you going to eat me?" She asked after another pause.
Finbar continued pleading in silence, until it spoke, which was not what he was expecting, and was more surprised by her question. "No." He said lifting his head.
"Good. Let's be friends." She said, now that that was over with. "What are you doing in there?" She asked, stepping closer for a better look.
"I'm stuck." He said shrinking away a little bit when she got closer.
"Okay. How do I get you unstuck?"
"I need to go there." He motioned towards the ocean. "But I am too weak and tiny. I'll never make it."
"But how do I help you get there? I might be a foal, but I can still help." She said as she stepped part way into the pool.
Finbar shifted away when she stepped in to his already shrinking pool. "I could try and hang on to your leg." He said, trailing off, thinking he was too weak to do anything.
Thea stuck out her leg, not going to give up without a fight. "Let's try."
He wrapped his tail around her as tight as he could, not thinking it would work, but doing what he could on his own to get out. He stood up as best he could.
Thea half-walked, half-dragged herself to the ocean, with her new little friend still attached. After about five minutes of work, they finally reached it
Finbar wasn't very happy about being out in the open like this, but when they finally reached the ocean, he breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you." He said, as he quickly dove into the first wave, happy to be back home.
Thea watched as he swam off, and realized she didn't even get to know his name. From then on she vowed that they would meet again, before galloping down the beach back to her family.
Prompt #2
Name: Yuuka Kurokawa
Seathi name: Neris
Response:Adsali and Candy were out walking along the shoreline when a flapping sound caught their attention. Curious, mare and two-legger followed the noise to its source. There in the sand, just out of reach of the lapping waves was a little female Seathi. Cooing softly to the little one, Adsali reached down a hand and scooped her up. After several minutes of making comforting noises and when the Seathi mare was calm enough, Adsali lifted her to Candy's mane. The bigger mare stilled as the little Seathi curled her tail into her hair. Candy nickered reassuringly as she trotted to the water's edge. Once there, she lowered her head and allowed her passenger to escape. Before disappearing under the waves, the tiny mare called her thanks and told the two her name was Neris.
Prompt #2
Name: Carson
Response:
( I'm Holli in this response since I don't have any Soquili)
It was a beautiful bright and sunny day and Holli decided to go to the beach, she never got the chance to walk along the sand and with yet another storm coming in she decided that she'd take advantage of the day. Her shoes dangled at her side as she held them her arm swing softly back and forth as she walked on the beach the water splashing over her feet every once in a while. " OH look a small tide pool" She muttered to herself as she noticed the pool a few feet from her, " Lets go check it out" She said talking to herself once again, Slowly she took herself over to the pool, Sitting her shoes down on a rock she looked down into the pool noticing a small red and blue lump she reached down and picked it up, inspecting it she smiled poking the small fin on its back, " Why I've never seen this fish before" She mumbled still feeling the little creature still breathing in her hands she bit her lip and looked around quickly. she had to take the little thing home, she couldn't leave it here in the tide pool to die. With that thought she grabbed her shoes holding the little ball that was Carson against her as she took off towards her small apartment. Throwing open the door Holli dropped the ball into her fish tank crossing her fingers and biting her lip as he floated to the bottom and landed with a tiny thump making the sand at the bottom make a small cloud around him Holli paused watching intently.
This water was much cooler than the water he'd been in just a few minuets ago, it was much like the ocean water he was used to. Carson took a few minuets just to be sure and then uncurled from the tiny ball he'd been in looking around he saw what looked like ocean, he was free he then turned to see a huge 'monster' facing him and scuttled behind some rocks his breathing quick 'What is that?!" Carson asked himself peering around the rock back at Holli who's eyes were wide as she tried to look around to find him. " Its so scary, I wish my dad was here." The little seathi colt muttered hiding deep behind the rocks, he wasn't ever coming out.
It was a few days and Holli had gone out and found some real sea foliage and dropped it into the tank for the little guy, She was trying everything to get him to come out of his hiding spot. " Hey, I know you don't want me like even looking at you but I brought you some more food, This time its pretty fresh I had my friend who's a fisher man pull some up when he pulled in the fishing nets today...... I don't know if you eat fish..... I don't think you do..... Tomorrow I'll get a fresh fish from the fish monger and drop some in for you....if you don't eat it i can always scoop it out.." She was talking to Carson but most of the time she was just talking to herself. She let out a heavy sigh " I'm not going to hurt you I promise.... I Just want to make friends with you.... I have no friends and you look a lot more intelegant than any of the fish I've ever had...... Okay I'm gunna leave you alone now." She told the him plopping the seaweeds into the tank and flicking on the tank light, " Oh.... If you do eat fish please don't eat any of your tank mates...... they were pretty expensive and Tod is posinius so if you eat him you'll die" She said sprinkling some fish flakes on top of the water watching her tropical fish come eat smiling at the small puffer fish she'd also brought home from the beach.
Carson swam out of his hiding spot and munched on the seaweed and some of the sea grass the girl had also brought, he didn't eat fish, he was a fish that was wrong in his eyes. He let himself look around the small apartment the girls bed sat a little bit away from the tank. She was nice, not scary like he'd always been told, half of him wanted to beg her to take him back but in his gut he knew he needed to stay as far away from her as he possibly could. He hid again once the light started pouring in the windows of the apartment this meant that the girl was waking up, he peeked at her as she stood in front of the tank sprinkling the flakes on the surface of the water all the others swimming up towards her. A sad look crossed her face as she reached under the tank pulling out a net. Carson shook as he watched the green net dip into the tank and scoop up a fish that had been laying on the bottom of the tank the girl walked away slowly and came back her eyes red and puffy. He didn't understand but he knew something was wrong he could feel it.
" Sorry guys looks like Urie isn't gunna be around the tank anymore I had to flush him" She said shrugging and looking down at Carson's head peeked out from the rocks, " I see you like the sea grass more than you like the sea weed, I'll have Geo get me more of that and I'll toss it in here for you to eat..... I might even go snorkeling and get some and plant it in the tank for you..." She told him with a smile, " at least your eating" That was the last thing she said to him before she disapered.
It took months for Carson to start to trust the girl, and she'd done so many things to get him to come out of hiding, his favorite was when she dropped apple cubes into the tank. He'd dart out and scoop them up off the as soon as they'd hit the bottom of the tank. It would always make the girl giggle. She always smiled when he was around, Finally one day months from the day he'd been dropped into the tank Carson decided that He'd trust the girl just a little bit, Holli had been moving around some rocks ever so carefully as she p repaired to plant him some sea grass the other fish scooped out and put in bags. Carson swam up from his hiding spot in the corner and brushed against her hand. Making the hugest smile ever cross the girls face she stroked his small side softly before he swam away and his again, he did like the girl and here he didn't get teased about being the smallest but he still wasn't sure. Slowly but surely a beautiful friend ship started growing between them. Carson was happy for once in his life.
