Rivener was quite proud of how Vyn was smiling, obviously pleased greatly with the way they'd been treated so far. Like her, Riv turned his gaze to the club then, taking in the setup, watching the stage and furrowing his brow at the large alien-looking characters before Vyn translated them helpfully: music. Ah, made sense.

"Nice place! So, Vyn, did you want to go up front right away, before they let people in? I think it's almost time to start, so the others should be trickling in soon..."

As though reading his mind, the doors opened behind them and people began filing in happily, one by one showing their tickets to the bouncer. Of course the people would be heading to the front... "Come on!" Riv prompted with a grin, gently lacing his arm with Vyn's and leading her down to the front, right at the edge of the stage. Stagehands were already setting up the sound checks, milling about above them.

"This is gonna be so great. My first concert ever! Thanks for inviting me, Vyn!" Riv flapped his wings softly with excitement, also serving to keep people from crowding in too close to the vicious-looking Sigel. Riv made it his business to be Vyn's protective shield, hovering near enough to her that other people would keep away.

Taking their place at the front of the venue, a mere few feet from the stage and undoubtedly the best view in the entire place, Vyn floated comfortably by Rivener's side. She noticed him brandishing his formidable wings to keep some of the people filtering in at bay.. "Rivener.." she murmured, placing a delicate hand on one of his firm arms. "Be nice, you don't want to hurt anyone.. Humans aren't quite as tough as you." She reminded, although she was secretly quite glad that she wasn't going to be swamped by fellow concert goers - close bodily contact wasn't one of her favourite things. More and more people seemed to be pouring in and the sound of the checks near deafened Vyn.. Although she didn't mind, the harsh screech of the microphones just meant that things were being set up for when the bands came on and the sooner that happened, the sooner she and her other floating friend would be enjoying themselves.

The flood of bodies put Ethan on edge slightly, he nearly lost sight of the raevan pair during the influx of people. But luckily he spied the horned 'teenager' and his fluttering nerves were put to rest - it seemed that the human concert goers seemed to be giving them a wide berth. Whether it be due to admiration for their bizarre yet fitting appearance or because Rivener's wings didn't make him look like someone to get on the wrong side of, Ethan was not sure. But either way he was glad, Riv made a good protective barrier for Vyn and Ethan would make sure to thank the youth for it afterwards.

Rivener blinked down at his "little sister" when he felt her hand on his arm. Red eyes softened from the hard protective rubies they'd been, the Scorpion nodding and folding his wings against his back with a rustle of leather. "Alright, alright. I'll behave," he promised with a slight smirk.

People were indeed starting to mill about, the area below the stage filling quickly. It was getting rather full in here, and the more people piled into the small club, the more people at the front had to compress together to allow them to fit into the back. Soon the two Raevans were boxed in on all sides, but thankfully no one dared bustle directly into the pair. Rivener made sure he stood between Vyn and the crowd, corralling her in front of him and making his presence as impressive as possible to keep folks away from the rose's sides.

The mike checks were done, the instruments were being tested. Soon now! Just a few more minutes! Rivener grinned in anxious happiness, his rune glowing rather strongly.

Suddenly the lights all over the club dimmed, making the spotlights on the stage seem so much brighter. The crowd's volume rose to a dull roar as the band members stepped onto the stage. Rivener grinned down at Vyn before lifting both arms and cheering along with everyone else enthusiastically.

She felt a little nervous as they were enclosed by the other rockers and the atmosphere of excitement thickened to fever point, the air becoming thick with whoops and hot because of all the human bodies pressed tightly together. Rivener seemed to be positioning himself between her and the main bulk of the crowd and Vyn was sure that, with his new tough looking body, he could fend off any over zealous crowd members. As the instruments were being tested, electric twangs ringing in Vyn's ears, she flashed an eager smile at Rivener. "Any time now." She hissed in anticipation, her voice barely audible over the instrument tests and murmur of the crowd. But as she spoke the lights dimmed and the stage lights seemed to flare, as if mimicking the pair of brightly glowing runes lighting the crowd at the front of the stage.

Thick smoke rolled onto the stage, produced presumably by hidden smoke machines. The red spotlights tinted it red and Vyn could help but be in awe of how impressive and quite simply perfect the stage was. Like Rivener she mirrored the crowd as the band members came on, raising her arms and beaming. The band were garbed in Gothic clothes that were indeed similar to what the pair of raevans were wearing, who could've blamed the queuers form mistaking Vyn and Rivener for the band? The lead guitarist picked up his guitar and strolled confidently to the front of the stage, fingers plucking phantom strings a few centimetres away from the real stings, he seemed just as eager to begins as the crowd was. His face was clad in heavy make up and he grinned devilishly at the front row. Vyn's rune flared brighter than ever and she could've sworn that his eyes had lingered on her and Rivener.

"Are you guys ready?!" He whooped, inducing a chorus of screaming from the audience. A flurry of notes were torn out of the guitar by his nimble fingers, joined by the frantic beat of drums then...

The concert began.

Rivener's pride soared when he saw the lead singer/guitarist paused on him and Vyn as he surveyed the crowd. The two of them were by far the most attractive people in here, although Riv would never admit that out loud for fear of being considered too full of himself. He could still THINK it though!

Vyn was so happy, her rune was easily outshining Riv's. The Scorpion was rather pleased by this, happy that the rose Frei was having a good time. Rivener himself was having a GRAND time, answering a loud "YEEAAAH!" to the guitarist along with the rest of the crowd. The air felt charged, heavy, electric!

At the very first chord, that feeling diffused like the tension after a thunderclap. Everyone began dancing and jumping around, and Riv floated up and down tentatively, joining in as best he could, keeping his wings flat on his back. A wide grin was on his face, fangs catching in the light once in a while. The music was good! Even if Rivener didn't understand a single word coming out of their mouths, he really enjoyed the high-paced beats and guitar riffs and screaming-melody vocals!

"This is great!" he screamed at Vyn, unsure if he could possibly be heard in this loud racket.

A few songs in, the crowd became rowdier. Energy from the atmosphere was spurring everyone on and, let's face it, more than a few hits of something or other were making some folks rather stupid. The jumping and bobbing to the music was turning a little more violent...
PostPosted: Thu Apr 02, 2009 2:58 pm

The vocals were amazing. The guitarist was perfect. The drums, stunning. Everything was just right. A perfect, chaotic, harmony of sound that set Vyn's senses on fire. She didn't react to the music in quite the same way as most of the humans did, flailing uncontrollably, but instead bobbed to the beat - rune pulsing, head nodding. Occasionally she sung along with the band, picking up on some of the chorus lyrics, but for the most part her velvety voice as lost in the cacophony of whoops, cheers and screams. Rivener also seemed to be enjoying himself and was bobbing behind her, yelling something at her. Barely able to decipher what he said Vyn turned, a minute frown on her expression - was that great or hate? Surely Rivener didn't dislike it.. He was smiling and his fangs glinted in the flashing lights. Vyn shrugged it off, he must've said great, she mused turning her attention back to the band.

However, in her lapse of attention a male youth had slipped in front of her, and was flapping his arms around wildly as he swore profusely at the band, yet complimenting them at the same time. Vyn drifted backwards to avoid being clubbed by his spasms. Unfortunately, the crowd lurched forward just as the teen gave another writhing moshing convulse and one of his hands collided with the frei's chin with a thump. "Ahh!" Vyn yelped, putting a hand to where she'd been hit. Tears welled in her black eyes due to a mixture of shock and pain. Her rune faded slightly as she gave the boy a glowering stare. He'd punched her and hadn't even apologised; why had he even been dancing so crazily anyway? Plus, he'd no stolen her spot and she couldn't see the band through her half tear-filled eyes...

Then, almost unbelievably he did it again! He jumped around as the chorus of the song came around again and his arm clobbered her head again. This time tears really did brim up in their masses and trickled down her cheek, taking a trail of eye-liner with them. She didn't like the violent person, he was ruining the concert for her... If he hit her again she'd ask Rivener to move him for her or something.

Thump!!

This time the blow knocked the raevan off balanced and she collided with Rivener, falling into his newly formed body with a gasp of pain. That blow would probably leave a bruise in the morning.

Rivener was watching the band intently, grinning and bobbing along to the music. No one was insane enough to bump into the Scorpion, but unnoticed to him a man had slipped in front of Vyn, blocking her view. He'd not noticed the first hit, continuing on his grinning, bobbing musical trip.

The second hit, however, made Rivener paused in his jumping. He frowned. Had he really just seen what he THOUGHT he saw? And what the hell was that guy doing in FRONT of Vyn in the first place anyway? Why, he-

Thump!!

The hit actually made Vyn stumble back, and Rivener caught her gently with one arm. He GLARED at that uppity b*****d, snarling. "You insignificant worm! How DARE you!?" Furious, Rivener flared his wings, the strength of the fragile-seeming things actually shoving everyone away. With his free hand the Scorpion grabbed the mosher's back collar and violently threw him backwards into the crowd, using his full strength. At least six people fell to the ground from the impact. Turning around to face the crowd, Rivener growled, baring his fangs, wings spread wide.

The stupid guy Rivener threw, probably high on something, got back to his feet and rushed forward with a drunken frown, winding back for a punch. Before he could even REACH the two dark Raevans, one of Rivener's wings had darted out and stung the man on the arm. Instantly the poison took effect and the idiot fell to the ground, paralyzed. He was damned lucky Riv hadn't been angry enough to use a LETHAL poison.

It was about this time the music faltered to a stop. "Hey, hey! Security!" the singer called. He took a step back as Rivener turned to glare at him.

Oh no... Vyn's concert was ruined!
PostPosted: Fri Apr 03, 2009 12:05 am

Sure enough, when Vyn had been knocked backward into Rivener the sigel was furious. His wings snapped open, the venom laden points glimmering in the lights of the club. Vyn floated away from Rivener as he hoisted the guy out from in front of them, tossing him with ease into the crowd - flooring a whole gang of violent dancing moshers. Blinking through the tears Vyn watched helplessly as the youth staggered to his feet, wiping a trail of blood from underneath his nose. The scariest thing was that he seem undeterred by Rivener's display of strength; in fact he seemed even more determined to disrupt the raevan's experience and came hurtling at them, moshing and flailing all the while. Before he could hurl another punch in their direction there was a flash of blood red and the man's eyes rolled as he fell to the floor, unnervingly still.

"Rivener... Did you?" Vyn whispered, horrified that her brother-like friend might've ended the life of the youth. However, Vyn's dark eyes picked out the movement of the boy's chest - he was still breathing. Unfortunately the other moshers did not see this in their drunken state and there was uproar, nearly drowning out the calls for security. They surged forwards, frenzied by the 'death' of their fellow mosher and the alcohol and whatever else was pumping through their veins. Vyn winced as they struck, Rivener seemed to be the main target for their anger, but a few hurled abuse and the occasional jab at Vyn.

"You monsters!"
"You're screwed up!!"
"Get the hell out of here, freaks!"

Tearing up further Vyn tried to ward them off, pushing them away as best she could. But her arms lacked the insane strength of her sigel companion. One mosher took Vyn's arm and pulled her off Rivener, removing her main protection. Now this was frightening for the frei. Convulsing bodies bumping and grinding against her. Flailing limbs. People treading on her tattered ribbon. It was her worst nightmare.. Her rune flickered as she balled herself up as best she could. It felt like her chest was closing up, tightening like a vice.

"Go away," she hissed under her breath, black eyes pleading with the mass of writhing bodies around her. But obviously none obliged.

Then something stirred underfoot. Was that a shadow, coiling up from the floor? And there was another, that one was barbed with what appeared to be thorns. They were springing up around the rose frei, ethereal tangles of shadowy thorns, coiling around her like a protective wall. Whenever someone bumped into her the phenomenon shielded the blow and more often than not the offender was left torn by one of the barbs. This had happened once before, when she'd overreacted with Shuura.. But it hadn't been on this scale. But then again, she hadn't been terrified for her life back at the first occurrence.

Vyn shivered inside the protection of her basket of thorns.. Where was Rivener? Was he alright with all of those people trying to hurt him?

Rivener knew trying to explain that the guy was NOT dead would fall on deaf ears. What's worse, the trampling as people rushed forward to attack them MIGHT kill the guy, placing the blame solely on Rivener's shoulders! Glaring, Rivener floated forward to meet the incoming rush, hovering over the fallen mosher in an attempt to spare his life from all the incoming, drunken feet.

Busily shoving back people who were trying to attack him, the Scorpion didn't notice his little sister suddenly pulled from his side to face her own personal onslaught. What the Reavan DID see, however, was the small group of security detail trying to make their way around. Rivener didn't care if they arrested him or not, as long as they made these damned people stop attacking him and-

"Vyn?" Riv suddenly asked, fraught with worry, noticing the rose frei's absense. "VYN?!" Not paying attention to the angry mob for a moment was a big mistake, as half a dozen people suddenly jumped onto the Sigel, trying to wrestle him to the ground. Unconcerned, the red eyes simply scanned the crowd for the tell-tale head of rosy-red hair, the crown of thorns... Nowhere! But ah, there! A-... a cocoon of shadow? That HAD to be her!

Breathing in deeply, Rivener curled in on himself, gathering his strength. "BACK OFF!!!" He screamed with about as much vocal force as the singer had been, the yell carrying easily over the din of the crowd as Riv bodily threw everyone off himself, wings flaring wide and arms thrown open. Freed, he flew to the cocoon's side, batting away moshers one after the other until the poor shadowy egg was alone. "Vyn, get up. I'm here, it's okay now. Vyn!" Standing protectively over her, the Scorpion glared and kept his wings flared, fangs bared. His body language was very clear, even to the drunken, insult-flinging mob. Don't you DARE come any closer!

The Security detail approached then, pushing the mod aside and holding them back in a rough circle, keeping them from trampling the fallen man who'd started this whole mess and the two Raevans. "He's not dead!" one of the men declared after checking for a pulse, seeing the frantic rise and fall of that chest, the wide, panicked look in the VERY awake eyes. "He's just... paralyzed."
PostPosted: Sat Apr 04, 2009 7:52 am

Safe inside her casket of shadowy thorns Vyn shivered; it was bizarre being inside this protective shield. The vines that formed it shivered as if alive, like veins of shadows beating with a pulse.. Living shadows?

Vyn could catch glimpses of the chaos outside through the gaps in the tightly knit lattice. People seemed to be realising that the shadowed ball was causing damage to them when they hit it; they came away with tears in their extravagant j-rock clothing and the occasional gash in their skin. Rivener's voice boomed through the club and Vyn reached out to touch the inside of her protection, peering through a gap hoping to spy her friend's familiar face.. "Help me.." She whispered through the cracks. This protection that had formed around her was almost as frightening as being clobbered by the moshers.. Vyn felt like she couldn't breath in the shelter and the only light was the bright glow of her rune and the flickers of the stage lights through the gaps. Then through the slanted gap Vyn spied Rivener. The tight grip on her chest, the fear, seemed to release it's hold and tears welled up in her eyes. She pressed her hands against the tangle; Rivener would look after her. He already was, his glares at the crowd forming around them kept them at bay. She just wanted to fall into his brotherly arms until Ethan could get them away from here.

As if sensing that some other form of protection would take over, Vyn's shield of thorns relinquished it's hold on her, un-knotting and falling back to harmless shadows on the venue's floor. The sobbing frei lurched forward and gripped the sigel.. "Rivener, where's Ethan. Let's just go." She hiccuped and tried to survey who was around them for a glimpse of her adopted father, the first time that she wanted to she his withered yet intelligent face.

There he was, struggling through the crowd and into the circle surrounding them.. He took in his daughter's streaked face, the expensive eye makeup he'd baught for her especially for the occasion - ruined. Fuming Ethan turned cold grey eyes to the security guard and then to Rivener. "What happened?!"

Rivener was more than happy when the shadowy vines fell away to reveal his little sister. She was relatively unharmed, although she looked downright terrified at the moment! One strong arm lifted to curl protectively around the rose Frei, followed closely by a wicked-looking wing that hovered over her, trembling with restrained anger. The Scorpion glared hotly at everyone, watching for any sign of threat. Since the bouncers had arrived though, no one else was coming close, thank goodness.

No one but Ethan, that is. Somehow his very aura allowed him past the ring of guards, as though they knew he was supposed to walk wherever he pleased. The man's eyes turned to the security guards then to Rivener, demanding what happened. Well, Riv had nothing to hide, so he frowned down at the man he'd poisoned as he explained.

"That drunken idiot was punching Vyn in the face while he jumped around like a ********' idiot. So I threw him aside. He tried to attack us then so I stung him. He's only paralyzed, nothing lethal. Then all these other bastards tried to mob us, calling us freaks and hurting Vyn! So we defended ourselves! ...Can we go now? Vyn wants to leave." He hugged her closer protectively, glaring at the crowd and growling softly. If he had any less self-control...

"H-Hold on a minute here," one the security guards said. "We might have to take statements, this guy might press charges for assault."

"WHAT?! HE assaulted US!" Rivener protested loudly, his free hand clenching into a fist. "He HIT her!"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 06, 2009 9:52 am

The gleam of anger in Ethan's eyes flared into a cold flame as he heard Rivener repeat what had occurred. The elderly man, easily the oldest in the club, turned this killer gaze onto the security guard and the man, who must've been pretty young - perhaps in his mid-twenties - flinched back, astonished that the older man could summon such an commanding aura. "And equally I might press charges against him." He retorted, slipping a hand into his pocket and retrieving a familiar business card. With a casual yet somehow deadly flick he held out the card to the man who hesitantly took it. Judging by the look on his face it appeared as though he was debating arguing with Ethan perhaps demanding him to stay put until statements could be recorded. However, before he could pluck up the courage to confront Ethan, the grey headed man had moved over to the raevan pair and had placed a cooling hand on Vyn's shoulders. He also caught Rivener's arm with a firm grasp. The sigel's muscle was as firm as the nocturn rock he was created from but Ethan was not looking to confront the burly teen - he simply wanted to give a physical reminder that any more violence would simply lead to more trouble.

Vyn, who had been watching her adoptive father's display of authority, wiped her eyes, further smudging her make-up. This was yet another side to Ethan that she hadn't seen before; the cold businessman edge to him. She supposed that stony face was the one that he used when firing people and even she flinched when he pulled out the card. Vyn had seen him give out his business card before, a polite exchange with Alex, an act of friendship with Xiu's parent Hazeline. But this time he wielded it like a knife and the rose frei almost expected the security guard to get sliced by the neatly cut edges of the card. Of course, that didn't happen but she was quietly pleased when the bossy guard shied away at Ethan's sudden move towards her and Rivener. "We're going home now?" She inquired, a tone of desperation in her voice.

A curt nod indicated that they were leaving, despite the security guard's opinion. He lead the way, letting Rivener guide Vyn behind him. He wasn't the tallest of people but after his snappish responses to the guard and the glint in his eyes that said 'don't anger me further' the crowds parted with the same hurried shuffling that would be induced by a muscled brawler - it would almost be amusing if the situation wasn't so dire.. The doors to the club clacked open and the sound of the night-time entered the bizarrely quiet club, the band had stopped playing a while back and watched with a mixture of fear and confusion as the odd group of three exited.

Rivener was rather startled at the way Ethan was acting. Nothing like the friendly father-figure he usually played around Vyn; this was a straight-backed businessman, one who was used to being the center of attention, who was used to deserving that attention. This man had such presence and aura, more so than any person Rivener had ever met. And he was damned glad that man was on THEIR side.

The Scorpion's face was a mask of self-satisfied confidence as Ethan gave that business card like it contained the time and place for that man's death sentence, printed in solid black letters on white stock. Riv could even forgive the way Ethan took his arm like that, as though he had any kind of authority over the Sigel. It's not like he'd argue with the man, since Riv had no intention of being violent unless someone was violent towards him or Vyn first. Quietly the Scorpion followed, wings spread only enough to encompass Vyn as he guided her out, following Ethan's lead as he parted the sea of moshers.

Only once they were outside did Rivener breathe a sigh of relief, feeling his tensed muscles relax slightly. Softly he lifted up a hand to smooth a lock of hair from Vyn's face, smiling at her softly. "Are you okay?" he asked, concerned, guiding her still towards Ethan's car but at a slower pace. "I'm sorry your concert was ruined..." He'd thank Ethan after he'd made sure Vyn was fine; that was the most important.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 10, 2009 11:44 am

The raevan pair certainly seemed startled by Ethan's dead cold seriousness and he was quietly pleased that neither of them had made a fuss and had followed him obediently through the parted crowd. Now that they were outside he loosened up slightly, relaxing his rigid posture and general softening his body language - slipping back into the more friendly Ethan that Rivener and Vyn were accustomed to. However, the stern tone remained in his voice as he unlocked the car. "I think it's best that we don't hang around, I'll take you home and explain to your father Rivener." He didn't wait for an answer before opening his own door and slipping into the drivers seat. Something nagged in Ethan's gut telling him that the best course of action was to get the floating pair home to where they'd be safe. If some of the moshers decided to follow them out of the club to dish out justice upon Rivener for stinging their drunken friend Ethan didn't want to be a sitting duck in the car park.

Vyn blinked when Rivener apologized for ruining the concert. He had nothing to apologize for. He'd only been trying to stop the man from hurting her.. Perhaps it hadn't gone to plan, but he had all the right intentions. She supposed that if she had been in his position she would've done the same. "The concert was fine, I liked the music." She uttered, drifting to the door of the car as Ethan had ordered, before adding, "It was those ********' idiots that ruined it." She knew that it was bad to swear, but she'd heard her scorpion brethren use the profanity earlier and the malicious ring that she gave it was quite satisfying. She didn't care that at hearing the cuss Ethan stiffened, he wouldn't dare brand Rivener as a bad influence, not after his valiant defending.. And anyway, she was a shadow, it was almost in her nature to copy others.

Rivener got into the car as well, easily seeing the logic to this. Moshers high on crack or whatever might think it's a good idea to stalk them out and get revenge... Well, out here Riv would certainly not hold back, but if they could avoid another fight then it was all the better. The Scorpion held the door for Vyn, intending to go in after her and close it. He was left to watch her with stunned wide eyes as she swore so viciously, damning the idiots who'd ruined her concert.

Chuckling, Riv sat and closed the door behind them, buckling in. "I'm glad the music was good, then. And I'm glad you didn't get hurt too badly."

Only now did Riv groan, thinking about where they were now headed: home. Urgh, Aphismet... "Are we SUUURE Aphismet needs to know about all this? Ngh, he's going to be so angry and nothing really bad happened, so we should be okay to just forget this whole event, no?" The Sigel was smiling tentatively. He knew arguing with Ethan was probably pointless, but he had to give it a shot. Aphi would NOT be pleased...
