'That could work well,' Yahto agreed, nodding. 'I blend into the snow pretty well, as I said earlier, so I could find a good place to lie in wait and...' He trailed off, noticing that he was suddenly alone. Glancing back, he had trouble stifling a snort as he whirled about to trot back.
'You know, you don't blend in so bad afterall. Though it might be hard to pounce on something from there.' He snickered a bit before ducking his head into the snow drift. He carefully took ahold of the scruff of the pup's neck with his teeth before lifting him out and placing him on a more solid packed section of snow.
'Here's your first test,' he smirked. 'See if you can follow in my footsteps. We'll train your tracking abilities and I'll keep ya' from wandering into anymore snow drifts.'

Harvey barely heard anything that Yahto said due to the fact that he was stuck. "I don't care if I blend in like this! Just help me out!" He whined annoyed. How could he have gotten stuck like this? Now he had just made a fool of himself in front of someone else.
As he was being pulled out of the snow he naturally curled up into a small ball. He growled at himself before he was set down. He hated that reaction he had when he was picked up. "Why does that always happen? I hate it!" He muttered, "Stupid curling up instinct."
He lifted his head up and nodded. "Sure. I should be able to follow in your steps easily." He said grinning, "All I gotta do is make sure I stay in your scent trail."

Yahto snickered a bit at the pup's rantings, shaking his head slightly. 'Alright, here we go again!' He set off, staying true to the shallow and hard-packed areas of snow. The edge of the forest grew nearer and the adolescent kept glancing behind at the pup to make sure he was keeping up.
After a bit, he decided to test him for sure, taking a slightly wandering path to the side, then back again, curious if the pup would actually follow it, or if he'd simply keep going straight forwards. See if he was really using the scent trail, or his ears. Either way, Yahto was fascinated, to be honest, since he'd always relied on his eyes for so much.

Harvey frowned as he heard Yahto snickering. "Hey! Don't laugh. It's not funny." He said pouting. He began following behind Yahto with a huff. He made sure to stay directly in the older helixes scent trail.
So far the walk had been easy. The scent and even the sound of Yahto's footsteps were right in front of him. But after a bit the smell went off to the side. He paused and sniffed around while cocking his ears. Yahto was definitely off to the side and was moving back towards Harvey only further ahead. Shaking his head he followed Yahto's scent keeping on the trail Yahto was making. "Are you satisfied now?" He asked hitting the spot where the older male had started heading back towards the other direction.

Yahto smirked to himself, mildly impressed. 'Yeah, I'm satisfied. Good job, kid.' He continued leading the way to the forest, no more detours this time, simply avoiding the deep areas of soft snow.
He fell silent now, ears and eyes on alert for any signs of potential prey. He'd intended to find some small prey for Harvey to practice on, but a gnawing sensation in Yahto's stomach had him second-guessing. At this point, he wouldn't turn aside something larger they could share.
The older Helix paused, waiting for Harvey to catch up before whispering, 'Alright, now we hunt. We'll stick together for now. Soon as we sense something, we split up and surround it. You'll break cover first, chase it towards me, and we'll catch it between us. Got it?' Okay, so it wasn't the most sophisticated plan, or worded as such, but it would work. Right?

Harvey rolled his eye and shook his head. "So glad I could satisfy you and do a good job." He said following the older male.
He followed silently behind Yahto wondering if they were getting close. He could smell the musky scents of the trees so he guessed that he was. He caught up to Yahto, nearly running into him, and caught what he said. "Okay. So we stick together, find something, split up, and I'll chase it to you." He repeated nodding, "Sounds good to me."
