If you're almost in tune (only a few cents (sp) sharp or flat) adjust your mouth, either dropping your jaw or tightening your mouth.
If it's sharp adjust the mouth piece by pulling it out, and if it's flat push the mouth piece in.
Oh yeah, ligatures are kinda lame. Rubber bands work a little better (just make sure not to crack your reed).

Oh yeah, ligatures are kinda lame. Rubber bands work a little better (just make sure not to crack your reed). the only time you should ever adjust your embouchure is to find out if you need to move your mouthpiece. NEVER continually play with an adjusted embouchure, it will RUIN your embouchure. Also..rubberbands are NOT better than ligatures. ligatures are made for the sole purpose of holding your reed evenly on your mouthpiece. rubberbands might hold it evenly, but it will hold it weakly. this will do incredible damage to your sound and tone. if you don't like the sound a metal or plastic ligature gives you, they DO, in fact, make ligatures out of rope(which will give you a bit darker of a sound)
