For warm ups I just go threw easy songs that I know, maybe some walking lines. Then I just go to fiddling around on the bass, making up my own tunes, playing around. Stuff like that. Sometimes I learn other bands' songs' but I really don't like doing that often. I mean, I have my own style that is really hard to match. sweatdrop
And I practice when I have the time (about 4 times a week)

Kyrenx tamamo_no_mae I practice everyday, for at least 4 to 5 hours because how am I going to be a pro one day,if I don't practice enough? I want to be one of the best, and I'm thinking about making the band practice a few extra hours...they're kinda lazy stare Anywho,I find that I mostly prefer practicing with Slayer stuff...^^ heart I remember back in the day when I was all hyped up and practiced everyday as well. word of advice, at all cost, do your best and say away from contracts. they'll screw you in the end. speaking of slayer... i'm going to go see them on August 15th when they come to perform with judas priest and black label society xd . Oh man you're so lucky! Your'e freaking awsome dude! Anywho, yeah they have been known to try and screw me over but heck,I'm to much of a stubborn little punk to let the dorks get away with it,anywho my friends are as close as my brother,so generally they never back out if I request a practice...our drummer is my cousin!

Practices with some people is just down right hard to do... but with my other band... i felt like all we ever did was practice. (kinda annoyed all our other friends whom didnt get much of a chance to hang out with us because we were practicing so much... but yeah.. no more worries there... sadly our band broke up back near the end of the previous july. (i think it was for the best). Use to perform shows at small venues from gulf coast texas all the way to san diego/tijuana... (good old days.. nothing beats living off of junk food for 2 weeks straight and sleeping in a van xd )

I practice seven days a week because I want to pursue a career in music. To warm up, I do a lot of scales and etudes. I really like the Lawrence Hurst warmup. He's the upright teacher at Indiana. His idea is that you should warm up each of the two hands seperately. This is an upright arco excercise but you could adapt it slightly for electric bass. You put on a metronome and start with half notes in the left and right hand for a three octave scale. Then you increase the speed of the left hand going to quarter notes, quarter note triplets eighth notes, eighth note triplets, sixteenth notes, etc. until you're going as fast as you can still keeping the bow moving at half notes. You then go back to half notes in both hands and speed up the bow hand while keeping the left hand on half notes, and then you return back to the half notes and speed up both hands at the same time. You want to get the instrument sounding even the whole way through the instrument because the high and low ends of the instrument take slightly different techniques to get a similar quality of sound. You can do the same fingering all the way through to really solidify that fingering or you can change the fingering to experiment with the different sounds of the different extremes on the instrument.

No, I'm from Ohio, but one of the colleges I'm looking at is Indiana University because it has a good bass program.

Being self-taught, I don't really consider it practice... ..just noodling around 24/7. Y'know?
