I started playing Sims 2 again yesterday. I started furnishing our 'new house' that we're moving into irl this month, to see where we might place things, and the only real questions are the fish tanks (we have a 30 gallon, a 70 gallon, and a 125 gallon, and floor support might be an issue because there are 4 levels in the house) and the computers. I have to take into account Jason's computer, my computer, and Jade's computer, and how we'll network them, plus what else will be in the room because if I'm on the computer all the time (duh), Jade will want to be near me, so she'll either have to be on a neighboring computer, near her toys, or have a tv and dvd player. She won't be comfortable 3 floors away by herself yet.
Anyway, I created a second family of us to move into our new home, aptly named fawN and Jmustang (and I was going to call Jade jadesealpup but I forgot so now there are two Jades in the neighborhood), and I started playing them in a small house to up their skills (and teach Jade to walk, talk, and potty train) before moving us into our new house officially. smile

Yeah those sims lose weight pretty quickly! They can go from fat to fit in one workout session. sweatdrop

fawn your new house sounds great! 4 levels, wow, i have a thing about houses with lots of floors, i think because i'm a bit touched but who knows?? i can't explain it myself.i'd just want to go from the top to the bottom all the time, which would be great for me so who's complaining? just out of interest how big is your 125 gallon tank? mine is 21.1 gallons and it's 3ft by 12" by 18" so i imagine your big tank would be about the size of my downstairs loo! i don't want to think about the fun times you must have had moving those, or did you get rid of your fish? if i ever find anywhere else to live i shall be coming to you for piscean moving tips wink

I'm unsure of the dimensions of the 125 gallon tank, although it fits nicely behind our couch (about the same length.) I haven't thought about this exactly, because there's so much to stress over and it's all happening so fast (they moved up the closing dates on BOTH our houses, and they're both happening next week!) but I believe we'll just bring the fish and live rock up in small containers and then empty the tanks and load them in the van, and mix the salt water again when we're up here, and the live rock will cycle the water for us. I think.. I'm not quite the marine aquarium specialist that Jason is though. wink

marine tanks look great, but i'd never be brave enough to go for one, i'll stick with the tropical as they're not too much bother.until certain characters in the tank get too big for their fins, i threaten my rather bloshy shark with being hung out the window if he doesn't behave , but as fish don't appear to have ears is suppose he's got a good enough reason for not listening... sad

LOL @ your shark.
Jason and I agree we want to set up the 125 gallon as a 'monster' tank this time, with leopard sharks and trigger fish and lion fish and the likes. wink

I think that large fish-eating fish (lol) would be ok together, especially if they're all big. We did have a lion fish before who we fed goldfish, and when we bought a bright yellow goby, we thought it was different enough and bigger enough not for him to confuse it, but he ate it anyway. Everybody else in that tank was too big for him to eat, even when he was the only carniverous one. smile

You can always do a shift+ctrl+C and then type 'aging off' and they won't age at all no matter how long you play. Do it again and type 'aging on' if you want them to age. I think it works per family.

I think it works per family. now after reading this i went back to the cheats i found and tried a few. i deleted my me sim and started over with her and bought the same house again.then i tried the "motherlode" cheat and that works! $50,000 to play with woohoo! but i couldn't get the anti aging one to work, i typed it in with brackets "aging[off]" was that wrong? that's how it was shown on the cheat site so assumed it was what i was meant to type, but i see above that it isn't how you typed it and i've had enough of playing on there today. Charmed is on now anyway so it's TV time biggrin

Okay, I have a question for all you Simmers out there. My partner has a PS2, and I'm expecting a laptop any day now. Which would be the better investment--Sims for PS2 or PC? I know with the PC version I can download a bunch of stuff, but I'm thinking about waiting till I can afford a desktop with a lot more "stuff" in it and setttling with the PS2 version for now.
What do you all think?

i've only played it on PC so i can't judge, i've tried downloading stuff from the net for it but it didn't work sad but you do get occasional patches from the sims2 website which gives you a few new items
