So she had to hunt by herself to make the journey easier? With a frown, she nodded an huffed. "But it's not the same. I mean, I'm sure I can get small game, but.. I don't have anyone to talk to on my journey. Never mind. You're used to being alone, aren't you?" Of course the other girl wouldn't understand her wanting to be by someone at all times. Ears flicking gently back and forth, she let her claws sink into the earth, then looked to the sky and then moved to climb a tree that was near by.

Now she was above the other, liking it better up high. "...Could you teach me to hunt? ....No. You're going on your way soon, aren't you?" she asked with a frown. So she'd lose someone interesting to talk to. "Think we'll meet up when I leave?" she asked, looking down at her a little worried. Licking her paws again, she let them dangle off the branch, attempting to play with the adult that way.

Koka shook her head. Up until recently she had been inseparable from her family. She didn’t find it odd that she happened to do well when she was on her own, but she did hope to find new lions to call her family soon. As Feana climbed into the tree Koka rolled onto her stomach and stood with a stretch, taking another moment to stare across the lake. The sight of so much water still amazed her.

“I don’t know,” she replied honestly. “I’ll be in the north and you’ll be headed toward the south east, if you do decide to search for your mother. It would be unlikely, but the world works in mysterious ways.” She turned to Feana and smiled.

"Yeah, well.... Maybe we'll meet up again. By that time, I could have cubs!" She said proudly. Feana thought she'd be a good mother. She knew she wouldn't leave her babies even if she was traveling to a different pride to be with other family. No, she'd keep her babies and mate close by at all times. She needed the company, the people. It made her feel better if she had that, family and such.

Her chest swelled at the thought and then sighed a little, looking down with a grin. "You know... I half wish I had a sister like you. Or.. you know, spent more time talking to them and not tricking them or something," she murmured, scratching at her cheek with a front paw. It itched so bad! Maybe she got ants from this tree or something. Whatever, she'd deal with it later.

"...Do you have anywhere to sleep tonight? My den's big enough, and no one sleeps in it but me. Usually, so... how 'bout it? It's not far from here."

Most of Koka’s brothers and sisters died in the desert before they were a few months old. She felt apprehensive about giving birth to cubs in such a harsh land, yet there was a part of her that would give anything to be a mother even to one cub. When Feana said that she would have liked to have Koka as a sister, she couldn’t help but feel honored. During her life she met few other lions. Most of them had been unkind, some dangerous, and a few very, very kind. She felt glad to know that she could be accepted by others of her own kind outside of her immediate family.

“That would be nice, if your pride would allow it,” she said a little hesitantly. She had never been inside a large pride before. Even though she always dreamed of living in a big pride, she never gave any thought to what it would actually be like being around so many other lions all at once.

She added quickly, “Of course, if they would allow me further into their lands, I have to make it clear that I can’t stay for long.”

"If you're with me, a Pridelander, they won't have a problem with it. I'm just taking you to shelter for the night. It could rain or something." Doubtful, but it was a possible excuse. She jumped down from her perch and gave her a playful grin, waggling her brows a little before tossing her head in a follow me motion before she headed off towards her den.

No, her den wasn't to far away from this watering hole at all, just over a gentle hill and nestled in a cozy looking cave in a rock wall that helped protect more of her pride. This is where her family never came because they didn't feel comfortable. They liked being closer to their pride. "I suppose I could just move closer with them, stay at a relatives den or something...." But she liked her den. She wanted to give birth here. It was where she was born. Not like the other would know that, or needed to know that.

“It’s nice to have a place of your own,” Koka agreed as they trotted toward Feana’s den. She let Feana go in front of her and followed in behind, letting her eyes adjust to the dark. The space was small and cozy. There was a warmness about the den, as if a family once lived there together. Koka lay down on the cool floor and sighed contentedly. “Thank you for letting me stay. This will be much more comfortable than sleeping under a tree.”

The female dragged over some of the pieces of pelts she'd saved over the hears to make the floor a bit more comfortable for the stranger. "You can sleep on this. It's alright. ...It was my bed when I was little, but it should be ok for you." She said, looking her over and then nodding before shifting to go lay down on her own bed, yawning widely. Her bed was bigger, yes, but that's the way things went.

"...I was born here and raised here. So.. I like this spot," she said with a mumble, her eyelids getting even heavier now that she settled down. It wasn't to long before she actually fell asleep with a little snore, content and happy with how her day went, despite almost drowning.

“You’re too kind.” Far too kind, another reminder of why she needed to return to the desert. Feana was a kind friend, yet Koka knew she would become soft if she allowed herself to be dotted on. She felt guilty for taking Feana’s bed, but it would have been rude to decline. Perhaps she should attempt to look at this as due payment for helping her out of the lake and offering advice on Feana’s mother.

Yes, she could be content with that. She was merely being repaid for her good deeds. Feeling at ease with herself at last, Koka settled down to sleep.
