As soon as the naiad arrived at their destination, he ducked underwater and began to search for the prettiest shells and stones under the water. He loved shells and stones that were found under the water. Not only were they part of the environment he loved most, but they also tended to be the cleanest, smoothest, and most fun to look at in the light.
Texas chuckled after Tiki Jim called out to those in the water to stay where they could touch, and decided to clarify before the naiad took him seriously. "You need to stay where the little girl can touch, Zuri!"
Zuri actually was just beginning to go a little deeper to look for better things when he heard Texas' voice. The little boy pouted, swimming back over to Waikiki Kiki. "Okay Texy..." Foiled!

"If she were a Naiad I'd let her go as far as him, but since she's not. Best to stay close. Thanks, Texas." Tiki Jim told the demon sitting with him.
Waikiki KiKi waved to her dad and nodded. She already knew that. "What did you find?" She asked the Naiad as she peer over at what he had found.

The demonic grinned at Tiki Jim. "I figured it would be best to keep Zuri from going much further out. Your daughter wouldn't feel at all inclined to follow, then." This way, they could keep both of them in sight and know that they were both all right.
When Waikiki Kiki asked him about what he found, Zuri lost interest in the deeper areas of the water, the flighty child he was, and instead scooped up a seashell which he called, "Look! I found a swirly shell that sounds like the sea! Listen!" He offered her the shell, grinning. He always loved those shells especially, because it was fun to have a portable version of the water sounds near his ear.

"Thanks, that's a good idea. Kids, if you don't watch them every second you never know what they could do." Tiki Jim laughed at himself. Was it really that long since he was a child? He met Waikiki KiKi's mother on the beach learning to surf and build sand castles.
"Ooooh, that's pretty." Waikiki KiKi then put her ear to it so she too could hear. "I hear it." It was sort of odd to hear, but the child liked it.

"Unfortunately." Texas laughed in turn. His reactions were yet another reminder that he really was a sort of father figure and he was definitely getting older, but it didn't particularly matter. In a lot of ways, Texas enjoyed his position.
Zuri grinned when Waikiki Kiki said she could hear it. "Isn't that so cool? It's like having the sounds of the lake with you all the time!" exclaimed the eager, water-loving naiad. He giggled, and then went back under the water to uncover a smooth, reddish-brown stone from the ground underneath them. He then returned to the surface holding it, and showed it to Waikiki Kiki. "There's lots of pretty stones down there, too."

Tiki Jim nodded. "Would you like something to drink or eat? My Grandpa's bar is just over there. If you watched the kids I could get something for all of us." He knew he could trust him because well, he didn't get the feeling he was one of the more scary Pae'il on the Isle.
"It is neat." Waikiki Kiki giggled. She then looked at his rock. It was pretty. "I want one too." So with that she dove under the water. She found something shiny and pulled it out. It wasn't a rock but some bit of silver.

Thankfully, Tiki Jim had a good gut instinct about Texas. He laughed cheerfully. "Hula Bob's your grandpa? That Tiki Bar is such a nice place to go." That did confirm that Tiki Jim was related to Hula Bob. That was a pretty big family... "Sure, I'll watch these two while you go get some things for us from there."
Once he saw what Waikiki Kiki had fished out, Zuri's smooth, shiny rock simply did not seem as interesting. What had she pulled out? His eyes widened in fascination with the pretty stone she had obtained from the ground below them. "Ooh, that looks like the type of shiny thing my brother likes to snatch from people," bluntly commented Zuri, as he tilted his head to look at it from another angle. "It's certainly really pretty, Kiki!"

"Yep, he sure is! Okay, I'll be right back." He told Texas before standing up. "KiKi I'll be at Great Hula Granddaddy for a bit. Be nice to Texas for me." With that he waved and was on his way.
Waikiki KiKi looked up and waved to her daddy. "Okay, I will." She then looked back at the coin. "Really? It is pretty. Do you want it." She held it out to the Naiad with a smile.

When Tiki Jim headed off, Texas laid stomach-first on the sand and sighed contentedly. He loved the beach. The demonic kept his eyes on the duo of children to make sure they did not wander off too far, but other than that, he seemed oblivious to the world in his relaxation.
She was offering the silver coin to him? The little naiad looked a little surprised. "For me? Thank you so much!" He hugged the angelic Pae'il before taking the silver coin and observing it in the sunlight. It was really pretty with the way it sparkled in the light. He could even see some of the sparkles in the water if he put the silver coin close enough. "Here, you can have this!" He offered Kiki the smooth, shiny rock he had found. It hardly compared, but he wanted to give her something too.

Waikiki Kiki took the rock with a smile. "Thanks. It's pretty. We should take the things to shore so they won't get lost." She made a small wave with her fingers then shaped it into a basket-ish thing. "This will take it... I think." She didn't control where it went but almost all waves ended up at the beach.
Tiki Jim came back with a basket. "Hula Granddaddy gave me burgers, fries and milkshakes for us all." He sat it down next to where Texas was.

Texas glanced up to Tiki Jim from his relaxed position. All of that for all of them? That was awfully nice of Hula Bob. "Awesome." The demonic adult grinned. "Well, I suppose we should call them in so the food doesn't get chill."
Zuri watched her create a basket out of water and his eyes widened in amazement. That was possible? The little naiad could hardly believe it! Then, though, he put two and two together. "Ooh. Did you make the water doggie from earlier, too?" That would explain why it had gone away. If it was only a fake wave dog, that was why he disappeared into the water again instead of sticking around.

"Yeah, that's a good idea." Tiki Jim said. He laid out the food before he called to the water. "Lunch is here. Get it while's it's hot!" He waved to the two in the water.
Waikiki KiKi nodded. "Yeah, I did it." She smiled and then heard her dad. The basket became water again. "Oh, food! Let's go and then put the stuff out there ourselves." She wasn't too sure of her basket anyway.

Well, that didn't make losing the water dog so sad. He had thought the water dog had actually been alive, and Zuri was sad to see it destroyed that easily for that reason. "Okay!" Food sounded good. The little naiad clutched his silver piece close as he followed Kiki. Before he left the water, however, he paused briefly, shifted uncomfortably, and then came on land with two feet just like everyone else there. The little boy still preferred his tail, but he had to use two feet to be on land.
"Now," Texas said to Zuri, patting his head, "Mr. Hula Bob was nice enough to give this to us. When you see him, you should thank him."
"Mr. Hula Bob?" asked Zuri, before thoughts of the man came back to him. "Oh! The Halloween party he had a few months ago was really fun! I got a whole buncha' food, and I got to meet my sister's girlfriend." He nodded cheerfully, before looking at Tiki Jim who he knew had the food.

Waikiki KiKi walked onto the beach and found her way to her dad and the other male. She sat down and set the rock next to her. "He's my Great Hula Granddady." She told Zuri with a smile.
Tiki Jim put out everything on plates so that each could have their own. "He does love to throw parties." He chuckled as he handed his daughter a milkshake.

Zuri grabbed his plate hungrily and began to eat it quickly, nearly engulfing his food rather than actually eating it. It was only when Texas poked him and told him to eat slower that Zuri giggled and started to eat his food at a slower pace. "Hula Bob's your Great Hula Granddaddy?" asked Zuri to Kiki, a little surprised. "Wow, he must be really old!" Kids.
Texas chuckled. "Zuri, come on now." He took a bite out of his hamburger. It was nice to be able to have grilled food without it being completely out of season again.
