Lithium couldn't breathe. She was running, running as fast as she could. Her little tail was pinned underneath her and she felt like her mother for once; scared. No. Terrified. What had they done? Oh what was going to happen?
You knew better, whelp, something inside of her hissed. It was laughing at her. Her ears pinned and she skidded to a stop. You knew the aliens were dangerous and now your brother's dead...
Dead? She squeaked and bit back a sorrowful howl as she pushed herself into a trot once more. He wasn't dead. He couldn't be dead... She hiccuped as she sobbed and her chest ached from running.
As she made her way over the hill, a black and white figure caught her eye. Adolfo?! "A-Adolfo!" she cried out, hurrying to him. "M-My brother's hurt. We were exploring near the a-aliens' village and a metal monster bit him!" Her voice turned into a howl. "I don't want him to diiiiiiiiiiieeee!"

The shadows hissed loudly and the master flattened his ears to his skull, "Stop it," he growled lowly to the darkness, and then that was when he was given the sound of small paws covering the ground in a major haste. Emerald eyes landed upon a frantic dark purple, but the hot pink on her fur was what had the shadows being uncaring.
She raced down before him, his ears focused and locked upon her every word as she scrambled out what she and her brother had been doing.
The bright one within the metal jaws. The shadows chimed.
"Yes?" He responded to his name being cried out.
The ebony and ivory male listened to Lithium and when she gave a break. "I know," Adolfo stated calmly, it was for the family to panic, not for him, his job was to stay calm and access the damage quickly and save what he could, hopefully the pup's life.
"Lead the way, Lithium." He encouraged, keeping his words short so hopefully to make it to the one in the danger of death.

Lithium stared up at him. Possum had been right; his father was cool as a cucumber in the face of danger. She managed a little smile and nodded sharply, spinning around and taking off in the other direction. Back to Rend and poor LSD!
She ran as fast as she could, not worried about if the other wolf could keep up; his legs were majorly longer than hers! He could probably lope and keep up with the still-growing female.
Rend kept his body plastered to LSD's, giving the male pup his warmth and trying to stop the flow of blood. His body shivered and shook as worry overtook his mind. If LSD died, Bipolar would never forgive him... He was the one who was supposed to watch them! He would be banned from Agua Azul before he ever joined.
And on that note... What if Adolfo knew he wasn't from the pack. He surely smelled of it, and surely Adolfo could put one plus one together! Rend wasn't sure about joining quite yet; Voila! was still a puppy, just a little older than Lithi and LSD. It was wrong of him to be so damned...attracted to the young female. Even if she wanted him as a mate, he'd have to get past Shezaam, and even worse, Twist!
His thoughts were spared, however, as Lithium galloped towards them with Adolfo in tow! He leapt to his feet and wavered there, keeping an eye on the ebony and ivory wolf.

With her eyes upon him, and after a half a second heart beat, he saw a small smile come to her face and then her head gave a single sharp nod. Obviously someone had told her something that was possibly unbelievable. The calm exterior of a mentally prepared healer?
Adolfo moved with his long legs keeping up to a jog at the side of Lithium. On their trek through the forest, he made a small assessment of the young wolfess running for her brother's life, a trait that was not commonly found in Agua Azul, destroyer of families, a pack of many but all individuals.
They broke into the clearing and the sand that covered more traps, bear traps, the shadows quickly raced out before him and gathered tightly, as if dark plates, above the dangerous jaws. Emerald eyes swept across the minefield and a growl built in his throat.
The pale humans with no respect for the nature around them, and the ones that Debora and Isadora had ran from.
The flash in the emerald eyes faded as he quickly recalled why he was here and that was when he spotted another grown male, the 'babysitter', as the shadows called out faintly from their scattered locations, but the words had not been necessary, the blood and concern on the others frame spelled it out.
Adolfo weaved around the bear traps, from where Lithium had broke out of the trees. She had a clear path, but Adolfo would come back and toss sticks on the traps closest to the forest later. The shadows brought the scent of all kinds of woodland creatures' blood to him.
"Has he started to go into shock?" Adolfo called out, his voice showing nothing of his inner thoughts just the eerie calm of a healer. He didn't caring if Rend was from Agua Azul or not, after all Adolfo was planning on leaving the estranged pack in a few moons, as soon as everything was settled, it was important to know how long LSD had been down.

The tiny bright pink pup shuddered against Rend trying to soak up some of the babysitters warmth and comfort. His eyes rolled about madly in his head, the pain was intense but just as bad were the bright green flashes before his eyes. It was as if the whole world was draining of color and soon he would be trapped in a glowing ball of green fire.
No words escaped the little pup anymore just whimpers of agony, his throat was hoarse from his screams and cries. Slowly his body cooled as precious lifeblood seeped from his ravaged leg, though it could no longer be called as such, now it was more of a bloody stump.

Rend looked up at Adolfo, his body still trembling, and he refused to leave his charge's side. Shock? What did he know about injuries and shock? "I-I don't know," he admitted shakily. "I couldn't...I couldn't get the trap off... I panicked and..." His voice turned into a whine.
Lithium curled her body against Rend's, her own little form jolting with shivers. Oh god, oh god. Please let this nightmare be over! It will never be over! Your brother is DYING the words said and she gave a muffled howl and buried her face in Rend's chest fur.

Adolfo moved straight to the failing pup, his eyes flashed to Rend for a moment.
"No time to open the trap. Get Lithium out of here, I'll do what I can as quickly as I can. But I don't want her to see what is necessary." The leg was un-salvageable, completely unlike Hurricane's which had just become a gimp leg. He was going to have to chew the remaining tissue off, and pull the pup from the trap, the bone was severed and only did the limb hang on from the tattered tissue.
"Take her now." Adolfo growled, as he moved around the snapped trap and proceeded to block out Rend and Lithium, his teeth taking to the tissue quickly, working and the shadows sweeping in to bring in some warmth for the shock induced pup. The life was frail and hanging on by the same small threads that the leg was.
LSD, concentrate on the words you hear from me, the shadows pulled the calm thoughts from their master's head and played them in the pink pup's ear. Adolfo would have to do another blood transfer, it would be necessary and needed as soon as he could stop the bleeding. The shaman was on the last pieces of tissue of the leg...limb, and Adolfo gently rolled LSD onto the pup's side, but safe from the other traps laying unsnapped.
Seeing as the humans did this and they were near the humans, he need their fire. Adolfo didn't look back over his shoulder, for he now applied a fore-paw to the stub to stop any last of important blood from slipping out and showing his bloodied face to Lithium, but his voice was directed towards the other adult. "Do you fear humans? If not, no need to answer, get me a stick with fire burning the end. Act quickly for LSD's life depends on it."

Rend's ears lowered at the barked orders, feeling quite useless and rather foolish, but he plucked at Lithium's neck with his jaws, leading her out of the way. "C'mon, Lith. C'mon," he crooned, leading the pup away.
Lithium took one last look at her fallen brother, seeing the pain in his eyes, seeing the agony his body was in, then stiffly followed the babysitter. Her legs were moving strangely, stiffly. Her body wasn't reactive otherwise. She clung to Rend, her tail tucked and her nose low. Her little body shivered as she lay down several yards away, her back to her brother and the shaman. "S-Save him," she whimpered.
Rend licked her ear, his heart going out to her. "He'll do his best," he whispered, then jerked towards Adolfo's new words. Fear the humans? What didn't he fear? He gazed between LSD and Adolfo, then took off very carefully towards the village, careful not to trigger any traps.
In the middle was a bonfire burning brightly. He picked up a stick from the ground, then slowly slunk towards the fire. His body was bristled and shaking and he caught sight and sound of the humans as they froze, but he held the end of the stick in the fire for as long as he possibly could.
Then he darted back to Adolfo. "H-Here," he said with the stick clamped between his teeth.

LSD jerked and twitched as sparks of pain shocked him, the pain was the only thing keeping him from passing out. The pain and the blinding green light that covered his vision, why didn't the light go out. He pawed weakly in front of his eyes his body trembling.
The soft whimpers of pain stopped, his eyes rolled back into his head, still he saw the green flashing light. So cold, why was it so cold? No matter...the pain was fading now...that was all that mattered.

Adolfo knew he seemed harsh towards the other, he didn't mean to, but Rend's feelings were trivial to that of LSD's life. Adolfo talked softly to the dying pup, telling him things would be ok, even if they weren't. His leg was gone, but the pup could survive this...couldn't he.
When Rend returned Adolfo quickly, but carefully took the stick from the other in his jaws. The blood had slipped through where his pressure was the weakest, the shaman's emerald eyes showed his thanks for just a second through the intense concentration and training. The training that had just covered broken limbs, not severed, maybe this had been too great a feat for the shadow master, but he wasn't going to stop here. Not with the sister sitting back with her hopes resting on him.
The stick was no longer on fire, but it was still hot, hot enough to burn the veins close. Bending his head back down to the stub, he rolled the hot end against the bloody remains of the leg. The smell of burning flesh filled the area distastefully.
Adolfo set the stick to the side as soon as the stub was no long bleeding, the burnt flesh looking ghastly to his night adapted eyes, and he was sure to the eyes of LSD's sister and Rend. Looking back towards the young femme and Rend he had a moment of sorrow in his eyes.
"Come and talk to him. Get he to murmur at least, I'll be right back I have to find something to help transfer blood." He was going to find a thick vine/stem for the tube, using a sharpened stick he would pierce into a vein and give his life's blood to LSD. The pup would be weak, he had suffered massive trauma, but hopefully he would wake up in the late afternoon.
The shaman took graceful steps towards Lithium, he knew his muzzle was covered in her brother's blood, but he knew he needed to let at less one sibling be there to talk their brother into the other world or keep him here.
"Lithium can you do that for a couple of minutes?" He waited for her to either nod or just go straight to her brother's side before heading into the forest, lead by the shadows he would find the right vine or stem just in time, along with the broken stick.

Rend saw the look of thanks the ebony and ivory male shot him and he smiled, hurrying back to Lithium's side. She hadn't moved since he'd left her; she just lay there, shaking her head back and forth. Rend grew worried. She was the happy pup... He whined and nuzzled her, but got no response, so he sprawled out beside her, turned towards the healer and the pup to watch.
Lithium couldn't move. She couldn't breathe. She couldn't speak. Life felt really, really dark and she'd never seen the shadows before. Not in her five months of life. Not ever.
Her eyes lifted to meet Adolfo's green gaze, her ears flicking forwards at his words. Talk to him? Did...that mean he wasn't dead? Her tail gave a weak wag and she hauled herself to her feet. "I think," she nodded, then slowly made her way to LSD's side. The stench of burnt flesh and blood bit her nostrils and she put a paw on his shoulder.
"LSD... Brother. Please, wake up, brother. LSD, you can't leave us. Not yet. Just look at me, okay?"

LSD managed to wrentch one more agonized cry from his throat before passing out with the scent of his own burned flesh assaulting his nostrils. He faded in a sea of black and green and finally a voice pierced the calm. He struggled away from the fluttering green light his ears trying to turn to listen.
It was Lithi, was she in this place or beyond it? He slowly pried his eyes open and stared at his sister his mouth moving without sound. His tail gave a weak thud glad to see she was unharmed.

The cry of agony that LSD let rip tore at Lithium's heart. She wanted so badly to reassure him that the worst was over. She slowly slid down, laying beside him, licking at his maw like they did mother or father.
"It's me, brother. You're okay. The aliens didn't get us," she whispered hurriedly, green eyes wide. A smile tugged at her lips when his tail wagged. Hers wagged too. "You'll be okay. Adolfo saved you!"

Well they hadn't gotten to her at least, he wasn't so sure that whatever got him was an alien, whatever it was he never ever wanted to see it again. He moaned weakly and tried to reassure his sister with a lick, but his tongue was dry.
He struggled to move his head and his eyes widened a bit in horror as he took in his leg, no not leg...it was a stump. A burning, charred, dark pink and bloodied stump, and the sight made his vision blur and flash in green.
The small male turned his head and wretched violently a small portion of meat and then nothing but painful dry heaves. What had happened? Would he ever walk again? Would this pain ever cease?

Lithium lay there, relieved when he tried to lick her. When he couldn't, she licked him again instead, tail wagging lightly now. However, her smile turned into a grimace as he looked down his body at the mangled stump that was his leg.
"D-Don't look at it, brother," she whimpered. "It'll heal. It's best if you just forget about it for now, okay?"
She followed his gaze down to the wounded appendage, her stomach turning at the sight of the rest of his leg still clamped in the trap... His little paw twitched and she turned away with a shiver. LSD began to heave and Lith stood up, her head hanging low.
