OK, now that I've got the front page all reserved, feel free to post here. You don't have to be in character in this thread (unless you want to - S-a-y-y-a always will be) but please keep chatter to a minimum.
If you have any races you feel I need to add, please let me know. If it's reasonable I'll add it right away. Otherwise, I'll need a tektek for the species you're suggesting, a bit of info about the race (especially if you made it up yourself), any special items they frequently wear, and reason for declaring it as a separate species (for example, if you want to create a special type of catfolk, like tiger people, list the reasons why). You can also list your preferred name, but I may change it to help it fit in better with the rest of the names and actual mythologies.
I'm currently looking for ideas for new alien species and mechanical creatures. Those two classes in particular are lacking in member species. Any ideas? surprised

By the way, I hope I haven't insulted anyone with my system of categorizing races. There are just so many different creatures here on Gaia!
If you feel your race belongs under a different category, let me know. I'm not going to make any more than 14 categories, but perhaps some of the smaller ones can be combined, and new ones added that fit better.
Of course, no classification system can be perfect. There will always be complaints one way or the other. But I will try to keep things as accurate as possible.

and if you wanted under humans
there are adventurers, royals, pirates, and warriors xd

Sorry it's been so long since I worked on this thread. I've been working on this idea on my own guild for a while, and just let this thread sit. But now I've copied all that information here, and will do my best to keep this updated as I add new things. Thyna it is a cool idea xd could use merfolk (including Sea elves, fish/squid/octomen etc...) and if you wanted under humans there are adventurers, royals, pirates, and warriors xd I do have merfolk, I just only had one version, shark-folk, displayed before. You'll see four examples there now. And sea elves I have always had, they're listed along with the other elves. Adventurers, royals, and warriors I'm not sure of, but pirates are a good idea. The first group isn't really just for humans, it's for "races" that aren't really races, more like classes. Although those first three are valid classes in many games, they just don't seem particularly memorable. But pirates do often identify themselves as such, sometimes even before their race. So yes, I do believe I will add them. Nox Noctis Umbra -sniffles since there is not a single reference to teakettles-
They are all very good... =( I'm sorry about that. Where do you think they would best fit in? One of the Enchanted? A demon of some sort? An alien? What would a tektek of one look like? I personally would see them as being one of the Enchanted, but Gaia doesn't have a skin or an "I am" pose that I know of....

Hmm yes I would think as much. You see personally my experience is most of us are blessed with the ability to shapeshift if you will. That is to say it would be rather impractical for use to remain as a tea kettle if we are not in our own domain where it is rather easy to move around, we have to be able to change to something more practical and nine times out of ten it goes fine but with a little bit of a difference. For example my current hair problem. I think demons perhaps would be a good place? For a general look here are some ideas

Those could work; however, when making my tekteks, I have been trying to keep them as close to real Gaia avatars as possible. I don't really know of any way to show just those items - all the "I am" poses that might work make the teakettle disappear as well. But maybe I could make it work, if I find a way to blend the avatar in with the background. As for how to classify them, I could agree with demons. Alternatively, what about Tsukumogami? Here's what I imagine a tsukumogami teakettle might look like:

Hello kids ^_^ I'm a kind of carnivorous monkey that resembles a baboon. For personal reasons I'm going to use a pseudonym for the original species name, so the official gaia species is known as a "Maebbin". I like to eat birds... of the non-anthro kind, mind you. Particular bird eggs are a delicacy, although any eggs are quite good. I like cold weather, as I am suited for it and it energizes me. Yay for the approaching winter. I can put a tektek up if you want, but the brown lizard man snout and the changling baby girl and the main items. I like to be naked XD and all Maebbin like to indulge and have philosophical discussions in conjunction with the social drinking. We are prone to wrestling matches when there is a disagreement. We love to rough and tumble but aren't apt to hold grudges. If you want to know more, just ask.

Exactly. Those Animated coatls are from statues created by a different race (possibly the Tiny Terrors? Or maybe the Twins' people.) They are based on my species, an ancient race that died out long ago. I (or at least my character) am actually the reincarnation of an ancient coatl, born in the body of a feline therian, and have since discovered my true form. My time of studying with the elementals allowed me to learn to shapeshift, so now I take a form similar to that which I once wore those thousands of years ago. [/my version of Coatl history]Anyway. "Coatl" is actually just the Aztec word for "snake", but as it also appears in the name of the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl, I've decided to use it for my fictional race of winged-serpent-people. I haven't decided where they would have lived yet; Otami sounds good, but I have to give it more thought. And of course, if anyone else wants to join that race, I'll listen to their thoughts about it too. (As long as it's reasonable.) I can add more tekteks of elementals if you like...I assume you mean the Unstable Elementals? Because I already have many forms of the others.... And Nights, thanks! I'm glad you like it. I think it's cute too. xd As for the Maebbins, I'd be happy to add them...but under which category? Therians, perhaps? I'll try to make a tektek later tonight or tomorrow, so when I do, please let me know if you like it.
