Raccoon felt like she should have been more satisfied with Red One's assurance than she actually was. She'd just gotten a serious, verbal promise that he wouldn't bring any harm to Mistress; considering the anxiety his initial detection had caused due almost entirely to that one worry, she should be elated.
However, Raccoon felt far from content with the answer she got, and she didn't really know why. He seemed sincere enough, but...but...well, she honestly felt like something was missing. Throughout their entire conversation, he had been playing games with her; whether malicious or simply mischievous, games weren't something Raccoon was really willing to tolerate when it came to Mistress. And that sneakery made her highly suspicious.
Suspicion could be set aside for the moment, though, especially when disgust was present. As she sneezed off some of the dust, Raccoon gave Feng a truly exasperated look. He might accept his answers as valid, but she herself? No, no, just more excuses. MORE excuses!
Well, if he wasn't going to bathe, fine; she herself, though, had duties to attend to, starting with a bath for herself. That in mind, she bounced to her feet and burst into rapid-fire chittering at him again, gesturing wildly and animatedly about how he'd better keep his promise, behave himself, and one of these days take a bath.
That said, she straightened up and gave him a bow of farewell. He didn't want her around, fine; she would take herself away. And he could stay and stink, but she'd be watching him.
TWO could play at that game, ayup

Secretly I'm in love with your mistress and would slaugher any creature that came near her; were words that really didn't have a sane ring to them. For all he knew Raccoon's take on romance could be the same as his older brother and that was more than just a little anti-spontaneity right there. That in mind the red stallion had done the only thing he could do (properly) and that was to feign ignorance to this. He wasn't going to confess to something quite so personal when all he seemed to be to aforementioned mare was a complete misery and an overall pain in her backside. For the sake of his own pride and ego he didn't need to be butchered through rejection; it was easier just to keep an eye on her.
...Anyone who called him a coward could go screw themselves; he'd challenge anyone to try and say that to his Princess and come out alive! Then again it would be just his luck if they were her 'ideal stallion' and he was forced to guard an amorous couple from predators as opposed to just his mare. Meh; he could see the logic in his brother's argument to a degree but that didn't mean his heart agreed and frankly, he was ruled and influenced heavily by his emotions in comparison to logic... he really was his mother's son both in looks and certain aspects of his personality.
Nevertheless her chittering was not lost on him and he smiled amiably as she made reference to his behaviour, his smell and his overall presence in the forest. So she wasn't thrilled with his existence at this moment in time (probably because he hadn't been 100% honest) but at the very least she had let him stay. Provided she didn't alert her mistress to his presence then all was right with the world. Actually he knew just how to avoid her; he just had to make sure he never washed again! If he absolutely stank then it was unlikely that Raccoon would even dream of alerting Anelisse to his presence.
Perfect.
"I keep my promises, Raccoon. I was brought up better than that..." he chuckled softly and shook his head. "Enjoy your bath!" he called after her hoarsely and then returned to his breakfast.

Scampering back through the trees towards the river, Raccoon was the picture of silent contemplation. Inside her furry head, though, her brain was whirring like clockwork as she tried to determine the best course of action in this circumstance. She was at least reasonably certain that the Red One didn't mean Mistress any harm, but he was still acting far too suspicious for her liking. And he was behaving so very contrary to what she was used to...
Well, she would give him the benefit of the doubt for now, but do her best to keep a watchful eye on him. She had her loyalty to Mistress...
And Mistress! Thinking about her brought Raccoon to a skidding halt as she came up against another dilemma: should she tell Mistress about Red One being around? Lord knew that Mistress really wanted to talk to him, it might be really good for her to know that he was around. But on the other hand, Red One seemed hardly fit for communication with Mistress; and considering he had previously gone to such pains to avoid detection...
After a few minutes of intense thought, she squared her shoulders and continued on her way. It would likely upset Mistress more than help her to know that Red One was lurking around; for now, at least, she would keep her own counsel.
For now.
