Lit watched the teacher jump up, his jaw dropping a little. Ok, so maybe he'd bitten off a little more than he could chew...but that wasn't going to stop him from trying. He extended his wings like the teacher had, moving them in a flapping motion, amazed at how natural it felt despite the strain it put on his muscles.
It wouldn't work at first, he didn't know how to give himself lift from a straight stand...but then he got the bright idea to try jumping up. For a brief second, he hung in the air - thinking he'd done it! He was flying!
And gravity set in, and Lit was very lucky he was only a short hop off the ground. He dropped, landed wrong on his foot, and let out a yelp of a growl in pain as it shot up his ankle. He stumbled, but managed to keep himself from taking a total fall to the ground.
"Dammit!" he shouted, seething a bit...more angry at himself for failing than anything else.

Rachel waited for Lit to finish being pissed about getting hurt before speaking. "You need a break? I can't tell how bad of a condition your ankle's in. If it's actually seriously hurt, you should probably not do any more landings on it, at which point we should probably just break or call it a day for now. It's to be expected to fall and possibly get hurt the first few times, so don't beat yourself up about it." the man said calmly, trying to not challenge the boy into anything stupid if he didn't have to, and landing so he didn't seem to be hovering in a mocking sense.
"You're doing pretty good though, fall aside."

Lowering himself to the ground, Lit took the moment to inspect his ankle. It burned, but he could still feel his toes and shift it around a little; though whenever he did, pain seared up his leg and made him wince. It wasn't broken, but he'd be limping for the rest of the day, at least.
Now, there was a part of him that said to quit now while he was ahead, before he really did some damage to himself. The other part said to not be a wuss and keep going. With Rachel looking down at him, guess which one Litural decided to listen to?
"No," he stated firmly. "I'm fine, I can do this."
When he went to stand, he planted his bum foot...and crumbled to the ground again, hissing in pain. It was humbling, but as he sat there holding his ankle, he wasn't about to admit that.
