And there would be much adversity against him. The world constantly made sure of that and as of now its spearhead was Shimagakure. Like a glider or kite made of the finest woods and fabrics, but faced the opposing whirlwinds of Mother Nature. Trying to blow Shisei off course send him plummeting down to the land where the serpent youth would be broken. The main aggressors of adversity being his peers. Shisei had forgotten most of them by now. His mind had purposely begun to sort the unnecessary thrash although and encounter with any of them would probably jog the memory. The reason Shisei needed to become forgetful was to release any of the minuscule binds that could have possibly formed. The boy had to admit; at the beginning he thought his mind and mouth could educate them to be better. Perhaps bring them near his level. That was futile. Like throwing pearls to swine and Shisei had enough of spending his fortune on pigs. This is also why he did not see the need to hold any grudges. Yes the imp and that farmer, whatever their names were, did mar his pride. Still there was no need for any immediate retaliation or perhaps none at all. After all how far can trash get in this world? “Bishop takes pawn. Rook takes pawn.” For the snake child, none of them had anything worthwhile. Not talent, not skill, nor heart or most importantly, resolution. Like moths to a light or ants to a colony they only knew of one whimsical thing that needed to be accomplished in life. Making friends, searching for family, finding love. None able to see outside of their cage to the true nature and ideals of the world. This did not surprise Shisei though. They were ants after all. Shisei picked up a black pawn thinking of where to move it next. He had made himself into a bind with the last move on both sides. It would not be easy to get out of and probably would cost some pieces on both sides. Yet it never was meant to be easy. The Orochi child slightly gazed over towards the small hourglass. Something he had picked up with the other hourglass lay within his things. This one was much smaller and could fit in the palm of his hands. Judging by the grains the dark snake still had fifty seconds. Before making a move his mind began to contemplate other options.

Ten seconds later the snake shinobi finally came to a decision. His fingers relented on moving the pawn and decided to relent with a bishop. Freeing up an open space for both sides. One side always had to be careful with the amount of pieces left over. The less you had the, less moves you could do. The boy’s eyes remained in their closed form allowing no light to reflect against his pupils. The tactile mind returning to his thoughts from before. Even though they were all trash. All just minuscule ants. When enough ants pile together they can be a force. Weaklings needing a shoulder to rest upon. Over the years Shisei had read a large amount of books. One of them on some of the creatures of the world. He knew of their ability to form impressive colonies that could decimate forests. Yet it can only be accomplished by coordination and cooperation. It was one of the things that the snake child would work on. The time away had given him a bit of ideas for jutsu. One would have to deal with that infraction of people being coordinated and working together. After all no ant is named king of the jungle. As individuals they are weak and easily crushed. Same with the trash that Shisei had to call his peers. So the obvious thing to take away would be their bonds. After all bonds were exactly like chains. They held the weak, but dragged back the strong. They also took an incredible amount of time to form, but were so easy to break. That would be one of the aces Shisei would keep to himself. Another would be something that the little snake was starting to get familiar with. Something he needed to practice a bit, but was needed. Manipulation. Disorganized ants are nothing more than a cluster of pandemonium. Manipulated ants can at least aspire to be pawns. Then that would give the trash some type of use. “White pawn moves forward.”

In the end, they were not the major concern. There were others to be worried about. The real sharks, and tigers of the world. A long time ago someone on this island had called him monster. He couldn’t remember who anymore. Yet it was a name that had stuck with him. Rather than hate it, the serpent youth found the name to intriguing. Monsters were above man. They had no limits. The only thing that Shisei needed to be wary of were other monsters, like a mono eyed aggressor from his past. The other monster that almost shattered all his limbs and almost took his eyes. The cold snake never disclosed to anyone of whom or how that murder attempt occurred. That would stay to his mind. Yet it was eye opening. That other monster wasn’t like the pawns here. He was similar to… “Knight takes pawn.”. The snake continued to look at the battlefield among the board. Even though his mind knew each move being played, the black pieces were winning. At the moment the black knight held the white king in check, but Shisei would not let that continue for long. One gold eye slightly drifted towards the hourglass modified for minute intervals. Only ten more seconds, but Shisei had decided on a move. For now he’d have to defend and sacrifice. “Bishop in front of king.”. Returning to the thought of the boy with metal snakes, Shisei realized from that fight he needed to get stronger. To surpass all of them here. The dread hair’s assailant was not the only one. There were others out there. Stronger and more fierce. The rose chain would pay next time, but the serpent youth needed to prepare for that day or else the same result would happen again. “Knight moves. King still in check.”

The sands of the hourglass continued to pour. Shisei continued to make his moves for both sides. It soon returned to both sides being about even. The number of casualties on each side had grown. Surprisingly both sides had retained their queen. In past Shisei abused the queen like an unwanted step child to the point where he would lose most of his arsenal if the queen was lost. He honed everything around maximizing the movement of the queen. Now the boy started trying different strategies. There was none he generally preferred at the moment although for this solitude game he was trying to debilitate on both sides. Pawns were good cannon fodder, but the snake needed to make better use of the older shinobi of the village. The jounin were supposed to be teachers yet even if the snake tried he could not remember many of them. The only ones he could remember if he tried was Yuki-sensei. No correction. That Yuki woman who easily succumbed to her emotions and disappeared. At the time, little snake perceived the woman to be similar to his mother, but that was a falsehood. The snake student had heard that she had come back, but as to a meeting Shisei had yet to see the woman. There was also the other person. The kage. If the snake remembered correctly he was probably the only one that was reliable in this village. The child never met the previous kage, but that didn’t matter. He died so he was a loser. Nothing more, nothing less. Like a king that is checkmated in chess is the loser.“White bishop moves, black king in check.”The wind blows softly in the graveyard, but the serpent child is not affected. He also contemplated about their being only two jounin in the village. It bode badly for learning, but Shisei had already considered that he’d need to learn everything on his own. Yet with only two of them to contend with that meant he could move around easier on his own without being in their sight. “Knight behind rook.”

Shisei looked down at what could be his next move. The white pieces were winning at the moment, but the black pieces were still on the offensive. The hourglass just reset, Shisei still forty eight seconds before making is next move. Looking at the pieces left, the child mind was divided on which move both sides could make to earn a victory. At the same time he still pondered about the other missing shinobi. The genin. Then it hit the serpent. The Chuunin Exams were today. This is why there were a lack of other shinobi around although the serpent youth was not quite sure who was missing. Which meant those that were not trash would survive the endeavor and return as chuunin. What exactly that meant in the future is unknown. It probably would not concern the shinobi student. As Shisei had to accept the fact that he was now a misnomer in this island. There was no place for him at the academy and without the upgraded title he could not continue on. As disturbing to his brain that was it did allow for him to move and train easier. None except that Hyuuga concubine knew of his existence on island, although by now his presence should be causing a stir. After all he was basically the last Orochi. It’s not like there was a large population of Orochi to begin with on Shimagakure that would allow him to blend away from the masses. “Being a misnomer… pawn moves forward…” the boy thought picking up another pawn. Would that be the best move?

Shisei placed the pawn down before the sand trickled down in the hour glass. With the placement of the pawn the boy quickly made a move on the other side of the field. The knight and bishop were moving in. A thought also just came to the serpent youth. Those that returned who were chuunin would need to take on genin. Shisei believed one of the nurses had told him about that on the island. It was something the Hyuuga or any other clan did not do. One of the few things that made Shimagakure stand out among everything else. These cells continued to foster the idea of the trash coming together to try and succeed. The snake needed to think of staying as a complete recluse. If he did graduate that means the boy would be under the command of trash. Something the Orochi born would not be fond of. “Pawn takes bishop.”. Not only that but then he’d also be paired with one of the losers on the island. Also another putrid outcome. The boy would need to devise a way of perhaps gaining one of the jounin as his own select tutor. Once again scratch that. The only person possibly reliable would be the kage. The Tenmoki woman was probably too emotional over her dying family to be of any use.
“Black Queen takes White Queen. White Knight takes Black Queen.” Shisei began moving between both sides quickly. The once tactile game of trading off finally came down to where much causality would be on both sides. All the while his mind was considering the situation of a team. If anything it would be better for him to stay in solitude. He could excel better than having to be anchored by two losers. The dread hair remembered back to the time when his frame was linked to two others. Who were they again? It didn’t matter anymore, but the time was certainly unpleasant. The only right thing the new kage did was freeing them from their bond. Shisei picked up the king, planning to make his next play. Then again… having two controllable pawns could be useful. After all sometimes you needed to sacrifice in order to continue and no one would miss trash if it disappeared. By common sense it is only natural to use the least costly thing and maximize its use. Half of the students had nothing, but naïve dreams anyway. Like ants they could be easily controlled given the right situation. Still Shisei needed strength. He needed to grow stronger. Like that person with crimson eyes. Like the bloody chain. How was it that the trash on this island managed to succeed him? How was it that the single eye nemesis got so much stronger than him? The thought made Shisei grip the king piece so hard it almost snapped in half. Realizing he almost broke the piece and those would have destroyed completely good chess set paid for by Hyuuga finances. The boy opened his pupils placing the king in the best move.
In the end the solitary match came to a deadlock. All left on both sides were the king and a pawn. All that would be done now is a three stage repetition. Once again Shisei came to a standstill.

“Not surprising at all. He’s like a bee to a hive.” the Hyuuga princess thought as she came into the graveyard. It was a place the girl never went inside of. She only watched it from afar. Only because her little baggage seemed to have made a home inside of here that she entered. Her steps came lightly, but not with a covert movement to sneak upon the boy. Her brain wasn’t on sneaking up on the child. As such after four steps Shisei’s body barely twitched to the sound. It may have been a movement that many would not notice, but her ivory eyes had been trained to see such things. The magnolia pupils were trained to pick up and notice many details at a time. Even when walking by, her eyes viewed some of the chiseled names in the tombstones, some graves having stone head figures on them too. “Ibazi Ero… Tategami Shuga…” the read some of the many names in the grave in her mind. Many people had died over the years and the amount must have quadrupled over the two year war. It was sad, but temptress was happy that none of her friends from the paper were caught in the mix. They had all managed to survive, but the girl hadn’t had much time in meeting up with them. Once all her precious things were settled in she’d have to amend that. A few paces away from the serpent youth Kanami put three fingers to her forehead and nodded her head in a disapproving manner. The kid was always like this? Wasn’t he? Walking around his frame that sat upon the stone head of another Orochi, Kanami leaned back against the head. Not to be disrespectful but so her back was against the back of the pale child. He moved slightly, but held his ground and made no voice. The boy’s hand held the kings from each side of the chessboard. “You know. You keep hanging out here and people are going to start calling you creepy. People only come to graveyards to mourn the dead for an hour or two. Not make it a hangout. Only three types of people hang out here all day: Gravediggers with too much time on their hands, those goth type kids who come during midnight to sacrifice goats, drink blood and smoke, and necrophiliacs. So which one are you Shisei? And please don’t say choice number three. That’s way out of my league of taking care of someone.” the girl stated with a puff of air from the cheeks. This blew her long bang from out the side of her face. Kanami was slighty interested to hear the solitary student’s response.

“Creepy…” the boy said aloud allowing the words to emanate out of the fabric of his jacket. The comment didn’t really affect him. Shisei had begun to call himself worse things in his mind. Instead of giving any flavor to the words that the girl stated. Instead the boy’s form slid off of the stone formation. This caused Kanami’s form to slide upon the rock formed head of Seshiro. She gave a small grunt and frowned at Shisei. Yet the serpent child paid no heed. He continued forward at the chess set. "I don't need you to look after me." the serpent stated putting the chess pieces away. He always put the kings in last. The game had gone well today. As usual it came to draw, which meant there was no flaw in his tactics and strategies. At least in his mind. Still to the serpent youth, it wasn’t enough. He could have been faster. He should have strategize quicker. A minute was too long. Shisei contemplated fidgeting with the hourglass so that it only had thirty seconds instead of a minute. Every second wasted in life was a second closer to death. The boy’s eyes stared off into nowhere particular remembering the enemies he needed to eliminate and that person he needed to meet on day. In his mind he saw those crimson eyes staring back.

Kanami’s glare did not subside from the little bleached worm as he continued to do as he pleased. Her fingers gripped her chest because when Shisei moved her abruptly it hit sharply into the stone design. Her usually fashioned tuned brain was considering pounding the snake boy into one of the stone configurations and then hitting him a ‘Kanami Special Technique: 1000 Years of Death’ but decided not to stoop to such vulgar assaults, regardless how amusing it might be. Instead the diva decided it would be fun to play with him a bit. After all, the boy could use some daily exercise. “Knowing him he just brooded out here all morning.”. She slowly walked behind him with both hands behind her back. “Well Shisei I just cam… to…. say…..” the girl walked slowly behind the boy who did not feel any suspicions from the girl. She was in perfect position. Her head neared his ear and her lips opened seductively for a second. This right before they curved into and her entire mouth opened with a shout that scared away all the birds in the area. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!” her voice yelled enough into the child’s ear that he dropped his chest board and jumped three paces to the left to avoid the vibrations in his head. Shisei covered both of his ears with his palms and shook his head trying to dissipate the noise.
“Argg! You stupid slut!”
“Relax. Relax before you bite your own tongue off. Jeez when did you start learning such profanity?” Kanami stated putting her hands up in defense yet with an exasperated look on her face. “You know you’re the only kid that wouldn’t be happy that someone wished them happy birthday. Half the other students don’t get that luxury or have forgotten about their birthday. You flipping marked it into the desk at the mansion and yet you never take heed of it. If you don’t want people to know then why do it?”. Once the sentence was finished the girl had to dodge a small stone flung at her. Even to Kanami this was a bit of question. He was a lot calmer usually. It seemed this day just was not brining out his best side. Or maybe it was her? Either the naughty seductress was going to have her fun. “So you want to play a little rough. Well I’ll let you try this on for size.”.
Peach fingers came together making two seals. As soon as this was done all the water within a small range began to pool together. It floated off the rocks, off the grass, off the graves and dirt intermingling together in a small vortex. The tiny drops became a small pool that grew larger and larger until it reached over five feet. Then it began to create a physical structure. Kanami decided to take a little longer with this jutsu just to annoy the boy more. Since it would be on that he would like to learn. Eventually the water gained shape and color and was an exact replicate of Kanami. “Kanami number two!” the clone stated as the real version went to the stone where the chessboard once was and took a seat. “I’m not going to pound you into the ground. I think I’ll let my clone do it. Although I should tell you right now. This is no match. She’s not going to give you any chance to fight back.” With that the Hyuuga prince watched as her replica sped at Shisei.

Shisei glared at the vile succubus. She was always like this. Something that the serpent did not enjoy especially since the kunoichi was the heiress to her clan. As the youth took his palms away from his ears, he could hear Kanami speaking something about his birthday. Not that the child wasn’t listening, but the dread hair was in the middle of something and did not want to be disturbed. Not only that, but because of her obnoxious behavior the girl. Dead white fingers picked up a small rock and chucked it at his senior. His mind wished the diva would be like a bird a flap away out fear to leave him be. No such luck. After easily evading the stone, Kanami joined her hands to make two quick seals and like magic out of fairytales the drops and puddles of the water in the area began to converge in one position. Shisei, having seen this technique a few time and just an overall lack of expression stood silently as he knew what was coming next. The water bonds and molecules came together, melding and changing due to chakra to reflect light and such. First it was just a watery silhouette of the Hyuuga teen, but soon its form and mouth became known. As Kanami stated her clone’s intentions the serpent child just shrugged his shoulders. “Feh. You think I’d be afraid of some idiotic concubine to begin with? Much less to an imitation of that same idiot.”
The moment Shisei said this he took his eyes off the clone onto the real figure. As his pupils crossed his face back to the opponent, an open palm thrust of the hand was five inches away from his face. Perhaps any other child would have been hit, but Orochi Shisei was quick in all aspects. Out of surprise his small frame pivoted sideways and leaned back into the stone head of the dead Seshiro. If the youth had a few more seconds, his black sandals would have pushed away instead of to the side. Still Shisei had a move or two left he could do. The boy quickly allowed his body to turn around, following the statue all the while getting into a smaller crouch. The weapon of two years ago was still his and was brought with him to the grave. His giant tessen was lying on the floor in between Seshiro’s gravesite and the stable platform that Kanami now took residence of watching the match. Pale fingers only inches away from the golden weapon to be easily thwarted by the clone. As the solitary boy made his way around the statue, Kanami’s clone had gracefully jumped over the head and stepped on the boy’s stolen weapon, not allowing it to go anywhere. “What do you think you’re going to do with that? Did you even learn to use this as yet?” the royal imitation stated using her right leg to slide through the gravel and grass far away. This movement made the right leg go high in the air and positioned her upper body to be bent over. The duplicate spread both arms out to keep balance but this was only for a second. The leg raised in the sky came back down in a pendulum motion as if the kunoichi clone was going to give the ultimate kick to a soccer ball.
It was a fluid motion and quick. Her leg never touched the land it went perfectly at its target. The frame in the sepia coat spun through the air with a slight roll. The cloned Kanami placed the right leg firm down into the ground while positioning her body into the taijutsu form she knew too well. “Heh… looks like I missed him.” the clone said to its original.
“Yea. He’s as speedy as his mouth is with insults.” the true diva replied back to her clone. Indeed Shisei’s form landed with a small roll, but the boy was unharmed and unscathed. At the last second he used all his limbs to push his body backwards and into the air. The force from the clone’s kick only gave a bit more elevation. Being unable to land on his feet, Shisei settled for a roll. The gold eyes wouldn’t linger away this time.

“Why don’t you stop talking to yourself and actually do something for once.” the serpent child stated in which the clone then sped off to face him. Kanami just rolled her eyes and stepped off from her stone seat. “So confrontational, although I think he’s enjoying the exercise more than I am.” the girl muttered to herself, lightly scratching the side of her head. In the mean time, she could at least clean up everything while the boy went and played with her doppelganger. Her fingers began to pick up the chess pieces, not really worried if they had a specific way to be put away. That would be Shisei’ obsession task to do if he so pleased at the end of the day. Picking up each piece the vixen began to contemplate a musical song. While concentration was needed to keep control of the clone, Kanami had done this before with Shisei and the other Hyuuga children. She was used to the energy and focus, although because the girl was doing it to torment and make the Orochi sweat made it easier. Multi-tasking was also good practice for her too. When that god-forsaken day came when Kanami had to marry a male so he could take over the clan, she’d need a lot of practice to keep up with the clan dealings. The thought of that made her blood crawl. So much that the girl couldn’t initially remember most of the lyrics to her song. “Now let’s see… how’d it start again?”

It had been over an hour now since the serpent boy started this spar and it was beginning to take its toll. His mind had wandered on the setting sun. Wasn’t there something special going on today? As his brain focused on that, gold eyes only detected at the last instant a palm threatening to push his nose a few centimeters into his face. Shisei managed to duck in time as the hand hit the back of tomb. The snake youth remembered that he was backed into a corner by the doppelganger. His form bent and began to sprint underneath the arm of the clone Kanami. Sadly the twelve year old was not quick enough. The clone grabbed the back of his collar and wrenched his small frame right back into the grave. Into the corner like a trapped worm. The diva clone then proceeded to do an open palm left hand slap to the face that sent the boy flying in the same direction as the motion of the slap. Shisei’s body went a few feet into the gravel and dirt rolling a bit slightly. He looked up glaring at water made adversary, spitting the taste of embarrassment from his mouth.
“Hey Shisei! If things like that keep happening I’ll have to become a pimp and call you my biatch!!” the real Kanami stated from her sitting position. The boy’s brow curved a little lower. His mouth completely hidden by the jacket yet his tone was annoyance, and words not as nice. “You big breasted cu-“ his sentence is never finished as the Hyuuga princess pointed the left. One gold eye only saw a bit of the movement as another open palm thrusts the small skeleton upwards and the other brought him right back down to the earth before he could really get airborne.

“Well you should have kept your eye on the clone instead of trying to insult me.” the girl stated to herself her chain laid between her palms which rested on her knees. To think he was going to use that word?! Kanami decided to be an optimist and believe the word Shisei was going for was ‘cunning’. After all big chested and cunning were fabulous compliments. The Hyuuga teen giggled a little as she continued to watch the battle between boy and clone with the setting sun. Kanami was hoping that he would have gotten tired by now, but it seemed his resolve, or obsession, to win would continue to push him. Which wasn’t good. The girl still had a few things to accomplish around the village, but she didn’t want to just call of her clone. Shisei would definitely hold that over her head! Still it meant that if things were not done then Himoto would be on her butt like a hemorrhoid. The princess tried to remember the lyrics she created for her song. It had been a while since she sang it and thus couldn’t remember at that moment. The girl wanted to remember the lyrics but a picture of an angry Branch member woman kept popping up in her head.

“Keep moving. Don’t stop.” the serpent youth ordered himself to do. The boy ran through swerving through different graves to try and gain some distance. His skull turned slightly to check on the progress of his chaser. He saw nothing behind him, but as his head was turning around he could see a red sandal swinging for his face. As if shaken by the incoming hit the boy’s body lurched back enough that his feet slid through the dirt and his skeleton went horizontal. As the duplicate’s foot crossed over his head, the boy did a baseball slide pass the girl clone and into a gravestone. The ghost colored child had no time to rest. Shisei quickly returned to a vertical position only to meet another assault. The Hyuuga replica was swooping down overhead like an eagle to a mouse. Another one of those open palm attacks of her clan’s famed style. The snake student scattered like a scared cat. Almost on all fours trying to return to two legs. The palm came down hitting the dirt while fake Kanami’s other hand extended quickly and gained the boy’s ankle. This caused all his movement to halt for a second, but Shisei managed to kick free and began running back to point where the true Kanami was. His face was about to look back to check the progress of the cat in this game only to find the blue haired clone cart wheeling next to him. “Always toying with me…” the grim child thought. Then again she was slightly like this with everyone. Perhaps that was one of the reasons why Shisei put up with her antics. Even though the girl would never say it. It was evident of her skills in the clan. Even the perfect role model of the Hyuuga teens, Fuyubi, slightly paled in comparison. Despite her wanton ways to Shisei, Kanami was some type of genius. The boy’s eyes followed the clone as it leaped in front of him. “Get ready for a trip and high palm.” the clone stated, surprisingly giving the boy a warning. As the circular trip from her leg came, the young Orochi made a small hop. He also saw the right hand getting ready to lay a smack in his chest. That is why before the boy made his jump he twisted sideways and when the youth made his hop he allowed his body to fall backwards. Even though Shisei came down with a small thud on the ground it allowed him to evade the simultaneous assault. His skeleton quickly rolled out of the way before another attack could be done.
Kanami’s Sparring Session- Evasion Portion Kanami loves to play with her favorite snake, but it seems there is only one way to get him into the game. Don’t let her hit you. 1d20 + 12 Dodge + Agility[5]= 32 DC: 27 Train: 2/8

Kanami didn’t watch the last few actions between the fake and the snake. It was interesting to see how the boy ran back and forth, but the seducer wasn’t interested until Shisei was backed closer into a corner. That’s when his movements impressed her. Until that time though the girl began to try and remember all the words to the song. She also remembered that a few of the words needed to be changed, but that would not help until her brain could remember all the words. To not remember the song that you made… Kanami felt that her hair color probably should have been blonde instead of blue at this point in time. Fortunately she was an optimist that wouldn’t give up too easily. Even if she couldn’t remember because of the face off going on. Her curvy form laid back onto the cold stone while one finger tapped against the side of the small structure. Her eyes stared into the orange sky as the fashioned instinct brain tried to pull the words back out of her head and into her vocal cords. “Let’s see…. Blazing on by… there’s nothing more I can do. I’m sorry that… that… urgh.. I can’t believe I forgot the beginning of this song!” she yelled inwardly to herself. The greatly framed body began to ponder if her favorite performer had this much trouble with remembering lyrics and other things for a performance. Kanza Kiyotsugu wasn’t a slacker in any means when the curtain was open to the crowd, but once the curtains were closed and the fans left for home did he have a lot of trouble? Nahh probably not. He was Kanza Kiyotsugu after all. That would be like Kanami not looking beautiful. That was blasphemy. In the beauty driven brain the Hyuuga prima donna was always looking good even on her off days. It was like a rule equivalent to the laws of gravity that she remained beautiful. Unfortunately her singing and songwriting seemed to need a lot of work. That thought made the horny teen grumble in frustration. “Being forgetful sucks.”
Performance Practice- God Knows If Kanami put her full attention on Shisei then he’d have no chance of evading. Might as well get some practice in something else done too. The Hyuuga will see if she can practice her future song while sparring with Shisei. 1d20 +10 Sing + Charisma[15]= 34 DC: 35 Train: 0/8
