Well, they can't all be somehow gifted to unrealistically have much better stats than all the other enemy units, like most other FE game characters.

This playthrough, Wolf got off'd, so I'm using Sedgar for the very first time. My first 2 playthroughs (normal mode respectively), Sedgar got skewered both times, so I used Wolf.
I'm keeping...
Marth (er, I mean, I'm giving him levels because he's an arsekicker)
Shiida (whomever just killed her is... well, they're not smart! She MUST be kept for her broken speed growth, and plus I like her relationship with Mar- *shot* Actually, I'm glad she's not annoying and whiny, but strong.)
Oguma/Ogma because of his rediculous ability to wipe out enemies, especially in Hard Mode, where his stats are the only decent ones now.
Barst
Gordin (Norne's RNG hated me... terribly. He ended up rocking my first playthrough as a sniper though.)
Both Cain and Abel
Since I'm in hard mode, Hardin replaces Frey as my 3rd Musketeer
MERRIC, I love you. <3
Beck is the better Ballistician. I freaking love sniping enemies from a distance, and the fact hammerne works on his weapons.
Lena.
Julian.
Athena when I get Gaiden.
Navarre when I don't (this playthrough.)
Bantu, so I can get the destructive Tiki later.
I don't think I missed anyone, but I will add to the list if I did.

I would like to keep all my soliders alive if at all possible. I has a solider myself, I take honor in keeping all that follow me alive to see us gain what we have been fighting for. Everybody deserves to see it for it puts merit in the pain we suffered. Oh sorry for my ramble, it is just a game after all.

I just beat normal mode two days ago. My final team consisted of: Marth, Caeda (who maxed speed at around level 6 classed up, although her stats went DOWN when she became a Dracoknight), Lena (as a Sage for the higher magic), Maria (also as a Sage), Linde (again, as a Sage), Minerva (after I used the Aum Staff on her), Elice (classed up to a Bishop in Endgame), Cain and Abel (both as Paladins), Tiki, Bantu (not used in Endgame, and Tiki took both the dragonstones he could use, too), Castor (as a horseman), Jake, Beck, and the old Sage guy that joins you in the last chapter if you don't get Nagi, which I didn't.
Everyone else died, and I sacrificed Jeigan/Jagen/however they spelled it.
I wanted to use Merric, but he died the chapter I got him in. Ogma got surrounded and off'ed mostly due to a large tactical error on my part. sweatdrop
I was going to kill off the Ballisticians, but then they proved to be useful (and Beck was the only one to hit level 30. Marth probably would've, except Tiki crit'ed the final boss. >[).
And the first time I had random units show up, I laughed before changing their classes, stealing their weapons, and using them as temporary distractions. >]

Hardin doesn't do Frey justice... Frey, come back to me in Hard Mode! D:
I so far don't give up units in H1, but next time, I'm going for a H1 Gaiden run. I neeed Atheeeena. Also, I have yet to enter 20x from my normal Gaiden run through.

Ugh, killing your characters to get chapters? No wonder I haven't made it too far in that game. To make characters disposable goes against what makes Fire Emblem great: characters that you love and will restart a chapter 100 times to keep.

To make characters disposable goes against what makes Fire Emblem great: characters that you love and will restart a chapter 100 times to keep. The thing is... there's not much to love about the vast majority of them. They get maybe 2 lines a piece if they're not part of the plot. The fact that there are generic characters available alone emphasizes the lack of characterization the majority of the cast was given.

First off, I could nevr kill Wolf. EVER! He was the freaking shizznizz in all my save spots!! Then Marth, Sedgar, for healers I actually really like Lena, Minerva, Abel, Ogma, Caeda.
Wanted to kill so much but mad it a moral rule to never let anyone die(except Fiona in FE10):
Stupid old healer
Castor
Almost every knight/general/pirate person
Really, I hated primary axe wielders a lot.

I have issues with letting people die in my game so nobody dies.But then again I would probably kill off Castor. I hate him. A lot.

Hardin, who's very clearly a traitorous b*****d (Yeah, the SSB Marth Trophies both state: HARDIN BETRAYS EVERYONE. (And this is a case of "You should know this already")) was my only true (As Jegan, who was decoy'd, and Tiki* don't really count) casualty. I just put him through the Arena, and ground till he died...as a level 20 unit. Made about 250000 gold on that map (One where you get Jake) before his demise-- the RNG liked him for some stupid reason. (And Merric/Lena were both L20 Sages at that point. Yay for Mend Staves)
*Killed her off while she held nothing but a Falchion. Promptly used the Aum Staff on her on the next chapter. Ended up with 2 Falchions, and BOTH Tiki and Nagi.
