Sighing in relief Remi was glad that Celyn had a sense of humor. Without one they might have gotten into a fight. And Remi didn't want that at all! Giggling Remi's eyes widened as she got frosting on her nose. She hadn't expected that! "Hey! Now I smell like gingerbread and strawberries!" Smiling she wiped the frosting from her nose and licked it off. Taking the strawberry cupcake after handing off her own Remi knew that she was supposed to take a small bite. Chomping down on a small piece Remi got frosting on her face. Swallowing the bite Remi grinned offering the cupcake back. "Yummy! You're the best girl friend a girl can have!"

Celyn giggled, taking the piece he had taken off of her cupcake and eating it. Ooh, her cupcake was really good too. His eyes danced in delight and his mouth curved into a bright, wide smile. Afterwards, he offered the cupcake back to Remi. "Your cupcake is really good!" exclaimed the churro boy, grinning. He then took back his own cupcake and took another bite out of it. These cupcakes were really good.
At being called the best friend a girl could have, Celyn blushed brightly and shuffled his feet in an amusing, child-like embarrassment. "Aww, thank you! You're really super awesome too." He grinned, taking another bite out of his strawberry and chocolate cupcake. "I haven't met many people who like sweets as much as I do and loves eating them! And you're fun, too! I like you."

Blushing herself Remi bit her lip, a habit she had picked up from her mother, and giggled. "I like you too. Your nice and sweet and really smart." Smiling Remi took another big bite out of her cupcake and fell into the flavor. This cupcake was so delicious! And it was colorful! When the smell of fresh baked cookies and churros hit her nose again Remi stopped eating the cupcake and scrunched up her nose. "Why do I smell churros? It smells really good but I don't smell it baking........" Frowning Remi hoped she wasn't the only one smelling it and that Celyn didn't think she was weird.

Celyn noticed her nose scrunch and tilted his head to the side as if that would tell him why she looked so baffled. What had happened? What did she smell? He didn't smell bad, did he? As the worried young boy brought his arm to his nose to make sure that he didn't smell like anything but churros, Remi spoke up and asked where the smell of really good churros was coming from. Celyn dropped his arm and giggled.
"Oh! I smell like churros like you smell like gingerbread cookies!" He grinned proudly. "Dad thinks it's part of the reason why I'm such a good cook! Here, see?" He offered his arm to Remi for her to take a sniff of so he could prove that he was the one who smelled like the delicious churros. Once she had done so, he would pull his arm away. "Dad says I was born from a scent oil. Most people would think that sounds kinda' silly, but I know it's true and I'm sure you know what I mean!"

Gasping Remi's eyes widened. He was like her?! "You're like me? I didn't know there were people like me out there. Mama said that I was special cause I came from an oil and she said that she didn't think there was anyone out there like me." Taking a deep sniff of his arm Remi sighed happily. He did smell like churros! It smelled really good. "So your scent is churros?"
Wondering if he tasted like he smelled Remi licked his arm while it was still lifted to her nose. No he didn't taste like churros......"You don't taste like churros but you do taste funny." Licking him again Remi knitted her brows in thought. "I don't know what you taste like though. Its different but not bad." Smiling Remi leaned away from his arm giggling.

It seemed that the two sweet sweet kids were having a general like fest. The two talked of how much they adored each other and their reasons, and then they started to chatter happily about the fact that they were both scent children. This was awesome! Celyn had met someone who was super awesome who was also another scent child like he was! Could this get any better?
"Mmhm. Dad said he bought it because it reminded him of an old churro vendor he used to pass by on the way to work sometimes. He said they tasted really good and smelling the oil brought good memories so he bought the oil and here I am!" Celyn began to giggle after she decided that licking his arm was a good idea. Of course it tasted silly! He wasn't a churro, although his dad insisted that he would eventually turn into those sweets he was so fond of... "I'm glad I don't taste bad! I bet you don't taste like gingerbread either, but probably not bad too!"
Somehow, their remarks were getting stranger and stranger.

Grinning Remi laughed. "My aunt Neena bought my oil as a home warming present! My mama loves those kinda things. Our house is full of candles and incense always burning." Smiling Remi thought about their family room, the room that she had first seen. It was full of candles on shelves and on the fireplace. Her mom even had a bookcase only where there should have been books there were candles!
"I wonder why other people don't smell good like we do! I wouldn't like to not smell like gingerbread. People always smell me and are reminded of good things and I wouldn't want them to smell me and think of bad things." Frowning Remi shook her head and bit into her cupcake again. That was better. Smiling again Remi's spirit was lifted by the sweet in her hands and by the small whiff of churros she had picked up. She had always liked the yummy treat. Now it was only going to taste better!

Celyn grinned. "Well, Dad says other babies are born in other ways," remarked the churro boy, proud of his knowledge. "He says that other babies are brought to parents who want them by storks, which is funny because they're just birds. But they have to put in a request and eat like pigs for nine months before the baby will come!" The young boy made a firm nod before taking another bite out of his juicy strawberry. Since it was a rather large strawberry, he hadn't eaten the whole thing yet.
After finishing the juicy strawberry, leaving more strawberry juice around his lips, the churro boy returned to his cupcake. "Well," he swallowed the bite he had taken, "I still want to come from oil! Coming from a stork is just silly. Plus, I smell really nice and so do you! It's nice to smell like us all the time!" Babies just smelled like babies, and baby smell wasn't all that interesting. Churro and Gingerbread smells were delicious!

"Weird. Mama doesn't talk about babies and aunt Neena says babies are devils in disguise. Which I know isn't the truth babies aren't devils." Giggling Remi shook her head. "I agree. I'd rather come from oil then a stork anyday. I went to the zoo once and they had a stork there but it didn't look to friendly. Must be a special kinda stork to carry babies around." It was so weird thinking of a stork carrying a baby to its parents. Being born from an oil was much more appealing and less dirty she thought. "We smell delicious! Like our own little bakery!" Nodding her head Remi thought that smelling like a bakery was a wonderful thing
Finishing up her cupcake Remi was upset it was gone so fast. But was thankful for the wonderful taste left in her mouth. It was a bittersweet moment and she savored it. Remi had a thing for the ending of sweet things. It became a memory to be looked back on fondly and relived again. Even if Remi only thought of it as wonderful sugary goodness in her tummy.

Celyn already smelled like a bakery! Therefore, it would make it a little bit easier to fulfill his dream of owning a little bakery when he grew up. After all, he already smelled the part and he certainly could cook the part! "Yeah! We're like walking bakeries, 'specially when we have food with us or when we cook food. I love cooking! Dad lets me do it all the time now 'cause he's really bad at it and he's noticed I really like it. All he does is watch me so I don't burn myself or something silly like that." The child nodded firmly before resuming his snacking on his cupcake.
Though he was a bit of a slower eater than Remi, his cupcake was soon gone too. That was sad, because Celyn didn't have any money to buy anything, but at least the cookie and the cupcake he had tasted really good! Plus, Dad said he was buying some ingredients for Celyn to make some really good cupcakes of his own. "I love what the baker makes! I wish I could live in a bakery." The churro boy grinned at the gingerbread girl. "'course, having a music guy for a dad is pretty cool too!"

Giggling Remi covered her mouth with her hand, something she had started to do often when she laughed lightly. "My mom is the opposite. She doesn't want me near the food cause I like changing the recipes. I think they sound better but she says I'll do something bad to the food one day so that we all get sick. She says that some smells just don't go with gingerbread so when I'm around certain smells it makes her get this really weird face." Imitating the scrunched up 'I've just smelled something that I wish I hadn't' face.
Giggling again Remi looked curious. "I'd love to live in a bakery. All the sweets you could have whenever you want!" Eyes sparkling a bit Remi noticed her friend had also finished his cupcake. "Magic guy? What do that mean?" Smiling she looked wistful. "I don't have a daddy. My mommy's the only one I have but shes great by herself. I have Aunty Neena too but sometimes I think she'd rather be anywhere but with me." Frowning Remi was saddened at the thought but quickly shook it off.

When Remi referred to his father as a 'magic guy,' Celyn giggled. "No, not magic guy." The churro boy shook his head with a grin on his face. "Music guy! He's a musician or something like that. He really likes playing jazz music and he plays at all the local cafes and stuff!" The child thought that his father's career was really cool. Sure, it wasn't baking, but Celyn had always favored listening to music as well. Perhaps it was because even his scent while it was burning existed surrounded by the sounds of music. After all, when he was actually calm, his dad was almost always humming to himself.
He tilted his head. "You don't have a dad?" asked the churro boy, before shrugging his shoulders. "Well, I don't have a mommy, either. My Dad is all that I need!" Celyn nodded his head firmly. "And your mommy's all you need! Don't worry about not having a father." The churro boy patted the gingerbread girl's shoulder before glancing over at the bakery's sweets wistfully. At that moment, he rather wished he did have enough money to buy more sweets.

Blushing slightly at the mishap she had made Remi didn't worry about it. It wasn't surprising she misheard him, sometimes Remi was a bit of a daydreamer. "Oh I love music! His job sounds amazing. I'd love to hear him sometime! But mom doesn't like taking me to cafes cause I tend to get really hyper when I drink coffee." Giggling Remi remembered the last time her mom had taken her to a cafe. When she heard about the whole daddy thing she nodded her head. Her own eyes had been watching the sweets.
"Whats your favorite type of music?" As she waited for the answer she moved to the counter and got the bakers attention. "I want......." Looking at all the sweets she nodded her head. "I want 5 of your biggest cookies! And a couple of those strawberry cupcakes." As the baker went to get the items Remi turned back to Celyn. "That's a cookie for each of us, your daddy, my mommy, and my aunt neena!" Smiling she didn't tell him what the cupcakes were for.

It didn't take long for Celyn to think of an answer to that question. "I like jazz!" chirped the churro boy in response. Such a response seemed fitting. After all, his father was a jazz musician and therefore the child was raised listening to such music all the time. "Sure! I'll tell Dad and maybe he can get you into a show! That'd be really fun! We could sit together and listen to him." Speaking of his father, where had the man went? It was surprising his panicky self hadn't come closer yet.
The baker nodded, going to get those items for her. In the meantime, Celyn began to blush. "Aww, thank you!" He exclaimed, surprised that she was getting him cookies. Since he couldn't afford to get cookies for himself, he was most grateful that Remi was getting him cookies. As the baker handed the cookies and cupcakes off and rattled off the price, Celyn kept bouncing on his heels excitedly. He couldn't wait to try one of those fantastic cookies!

As Remi handed him the bills and got her change she placed it back into her pocket. Handing over the two cookies Remi smiled at the boy. The box of cupcakes were grabbed next and these Remi made sure she took her time and were careful with. Peeking inside she licked her lips and grinned. "They look delicious! I'm glad too cause if they looked icky I wouldn't be able to give them to you like I planned." Smiling shyly Remi lowered her head and held out the box to her friend. When the idea hit her it seemed perfect but now she hoped she hadn't been wrong with her guess that he wanted some more sweets.
