Ganon smiled. "You'll learn as you go, for the most part, but I'll teach you about caring for the egg right now, to ensure a healthy baby." He wagged his tail and stood, raising one hand to stroke Lorne's muzzle as the great Kyn leaned down.
Lorne murmured, "It is an honor, Miss Rowan." Ganon smirked.
"See, he's a big softy. You don't need to feel intimidated, he's very careful. Now, mind you, Rowan... taking care of him is a tough job. It's very hard to keep his scales clean, especially behind the haunches, and if he gets sick... well, the other kyn hunt for him, for the most part." He smiled. "But you're sure you're up to this?"

Oh you little coward, he's harmless Rowan told herself as she forced herself to relax. Although it was hard in the presence of a 30-foot high fire breathing dragon right in front of ya. Rowan nodded at Ganon's question, grinning like a boy with his first dagger.
"Yep. I wouldn't have come if I wasn't." Alright, it was sort of like a boy with his first dagger. Except Rowan's a girl, and she got a Kyn not a dagger.
She was already dreaming of when Rosemary would hatch. Rowan had been up to the mountain range near their family's farm for months now. It had taken her a while to find a nice big cave, and even longer to clear out.

Ganon invited her into the cave complex and sat down with her in the living cave. "All right. Your room is down the hall, and this is the living room here. Now, I suppose I should start preparing you. You should make sure your egg is warm at all times, don't let it get too cold. And for gods' sakes, keep it close. You have to be there when it hatches or it won't bond properly." He smiled.
"When it hatches, it will be small enough to hold in your arms and feed. Feed it first, then let it explore some. At first, it's a bit like taking care of a human baby, but it'll grow too big to hold pretty quickly."

Rowan nodded, listening carefully. Keep it warm? Got it. Keep it close? Rowan hasn't gone more then two feet away from the little red egg since she recieved it. Well that was good, at least Rowan knows that she hasn't been screwing up already.
When it hatches, it will be small enough to hold in your arms and feed.
Oh what a day that would be! When little Rosemary finally comes out of her shell, a small curious creature that would one day grow to be a big strong Kyn. She was so lucky to be able to be a part of this.
"So what do they eat when they first hatch? Milk, or would they be able to handle small rodents?"

Ganon smiled. "Generally best to start off with milk, or a kyn's milk formula. If you want the kyn to grow very quickly, you can use real dragon's milk. After a couple of days, try giving her rodents. And as soon as she's big enough to go with you and take down game on her own, take her hunting with you. She needs to start learning to hunt early; tame kyns don't usually learn it easily on their own." He grabbed a few apples and started juggling them, then tossed her one and bit into another.

It wasn't more than a few days later, when Ganon was caring for a snuggly, egg-heavy Falke and Rowan was coming in from cleaning Lorne's wings that a soft sound emanated from Ganon's egg, which was sitting among some warm rocks. Ganon jumped up and swiftly moved to it, lifting it out and setting it on the floor. "Wonderful... he's hatching!" The egg was moving back and forth, twitching and jumping, and then a crack appeared.
A moment later, a little nose pushed through that crack and out pushed a sticky, goo-covered Eastern with little bits of egg clinging to his white, red-veined body. "Aw..." The little dragon immediately nuzzled Ganon's claw, and then Ganon began to clean him off. The bonding had begun.
Soon enough, Ganon was holding the creature he had dubbed Lust in his arms, feeding him from a bottle. "See, Rowan? Your should hatch soon. Don't know why, but all kyn eggs have about the same average hatching time."

Rowan had been working very hard for the past few days. She concentrated as much as she could on taking good care of Lorne, knowing one day she'll need to know how to do all this. By now she's gotten over her fear of the great Kyn, and has started to feel safe around him. Well, if anything nasty does show up, Lorne's size'll just chase them away.
Today, Rowan had just finished cleaning Lorne's wing. She was exhausted. REALLY exhausted. How could you not be after cleaning such huge wings? It took Rowan a better part of the whole morning. So walking back towards her room, she paused as Ganon showed her the newly born Lust while feeding it.
Rowan smiled and nodded.
"Oh, I really can't wait."
Rowan's been awaiting the day Rosemary hatched with anticipation and boy did she ever get a surprise when she got back to her room. She rarely ever left the red egg, but keeping it with her while taking care of the Kyns had a risk that the egg might get damaged or lost, or maybe too cold. So she had made a little pile of warm sand beside the fireplace so it wouldn't freeze to death. Rowan would run into the room every chance she has to see if Rosy was hatching.
Collapsing onto her bedroll, Rowan had closed her eyes and was about to take a nap when she heard it.
Crack.
Rowan ignored it. Probably just the fire.
Squeak squeak.
Rowan bolted upright. The fire did not make that sound. Rowan's eyes darted around the small room before landing on the small red egg, half-buried in the sand. Scrambling onto her feet, Rowan crawled over to Rose's egg.
Crack.
Now Rowan knew exactly what was happening. Hands shaking from excitement, Rowan brushed the sand away and sat beside the egg patiently as cracks continued to spread from one point. Before long, one piece of the shell seemed to teeter and totter on something unseen before falling to the ground, revealing a hole in the egg. A small red head stuck out of the hole and squeaked pitifully. The egg rocked forward, and Rowan caught it before the little Kyn's head collided with the ground. Slowly, piece by piece, Rowan cracked off bits of the shell from the hole the Rosemary had originally made. Soon, it was big enough for the small dragon to wriggle out.
The small thing squealed as it tried to stand up, but its legs are still too weak. Rowan ripped off a piece of her shirt, and wiped the liquids left from the egg off of the little creature. Rosemary snapped at her, baring her fangs. Rowan was not to be discouraged though, and carefully cleaned the Kyn off while avoiding it's teeth. She got a few bites on her fingers, but she was altogether undamaged. Rose warmed up to her after this, and soon let Rowan stroke it.
Rowan loved its white bird-like wings. It felt so soft. Rosemary soon began to hum contently as Rowan continued to stroke it. Then it called out loudly, in a high-pitched squeak. It was Hungry.
Rowan scrambled to look for the milk she didn't finish that morning.
Rosemary's hatched! was her happy thought as she settled down and helped the young Kyn drink the milk.
