Eustace bowed and apologized again, this time for jumping to the wrong conclusion. "Sorry!" She calmed down a bit after this. It didn't seem likely that Daiyu would bite her head off, though she wasn't completely sure. It was one of the reasons meeting new people was always such a trial. Most of the time she avoided making contact at all. It hurt more than helped as most of her meetings were embarassing situations like this one. At Daiyu's statement, she looked down toward the wolves. Hoping to improve the situation, Eustace put a hand to urge LunarFlare back a little. An apology for her wolf's behavior formed at the tip of her tongue and died off when it seemed that Zephyr hadn't been too offended. She smiled easily now. "He's naturally affectionate with everyone." Eustace explained. "I hate to see it go, but he'll know better after a few situations like these." She clasped her hands behind her back and shook her head. It really was a shame that he couldn't stay that way.
Realizing his folly a bit too late, Lunar stepped back a bit and bowed his head in submission. It was true that pets would take some of the personality traits of their owners. It seemed to be the same in wolves. Sorry! He whined. He'd heard Eustace say it so often that the range of different apologies could be an entirely different language. The one he'd just used was in the middle between off-hand and desperate for approval.
"Pleased to make your acquaintance," Eustace replied, in a great deal more comfort than when she'd introduced herself. Curious at how her wolf was faring, she looked back to LunarFlare and Zephyr, for the first time taking a good look at the older wolf. "And Zephyr too." Eustace said, noting how Lunar had apologized. It was awful he had to spend so much of his time with a pushover. He was taking on her habits. Turning back to Daiyu, she remarked "He really is quite beautiful."

[OoC: If Rayan's boldness towards Daiyu is bothering you, let me know and I'll give Zephyr room to run him down. >3 But seriously, if you don't want him to be touching her RP-wise, I'll edit it. =)]
Rayan huffed indignantly at Daiyu before throwing his arm around her shoulders, feigning a glare at Eustace's direction. "And what if you are interrupting something, Apprentice?" But then an afterthought before he reverted back to his usual behavior, even if the apprentice was a little too young for him. Besides, she was going to learn about this side of him sooner or later - might as well be now. A charming but somewhat suggestive grin touched Rayan's features as he released Daiyu and took a bold step forward towards Eustace. "Unless you wanted to join us?"
The growl that came from Zephyr had Rayan stepping away from the wolf instinctually as past experiences taught him that most growls emitted in his general vicinity were almost always directed at him. And given his behavior with Daiyu, he had no doubts the wolf was simply looking for an excuse to bite him. But glancing over, Rayan noted with amusement that the wolf was simply unsure of the pup. If that had been Darkheart, the puppy would probably be crawling away whimpering and with a nice set of teeth marks in its muzzle. "Yes, no need to be rude, Zephy," he teased the wolf, before stepping behind Daiyu so the canine couldn't get him as easily.
"The Rayan Delamere," he introduced himself to Eustace with a charming smile, "but you can call me sexy." Then he offered the young girl a wink. "And I'll never lose my affectionate nature." Inappropriate? Definitely. But Rayan figured the likelihood that Eustace would understand his implications were slim - and Rose wasn't around, so no harm, no foul.

(OoC: Not at all. XD I think it's funny! Butyeah...Zeph no like. >:3 I bolded speaking to make it easier for you guys.)
"The pleasure is mine," Daiyu replied, giving her best smile to the girl. Eustace reminded Daiyu slightly of herself; shy and nervously polite. "Zephyr is lovely," she agreed, reaching out and patting her wolf with gentle affection. She glanced over at LunarFlare. "I have never seen such remarkable markings on a wolf before. LunarFlare is an interesting individual. Such beautiful eyes."
Zephyr's ears perked up at the teasing Rayan had submitted to both himself and his rider. He growled softly, turning his head towards the hiding man. Alright, Daiyu? Zephyr asked, his piercing eyes hazing through his rider and focusing on the man. There was just something he didn't trust about Rayan. He was...almost like a wolf constantly in heat. Was that even possible?
Daiyu's ears began to redden ever-so-slightly. She had heard Rayan's remark about 'interrupting', but decided that if she kept talking with Eustace, it would be overlooked. However, the young woman made a sound almost like a squeaking mouse when Rayan began teasing Eustace. At her call, Zephyr jumped into action. Away, boy! he growled, his fur rising at the nape of his neck. Fangs bared, eyes turning a grey color, just as Daiyu's did, Zephyr slowly made his way to the male rider.

"I-it's most likely from WoodWhisp, his father." Eustace replied. Having only seen a couple of wolves as of yet other than LunarFlare's family, she hadn't thought it was so unusual. She looked to LunarFlare. He and Zephyr were quite different, so it was natural that Daiyu would think that. Of course, she was sure to have seen many different wolves. Eustace was just another inexperienced Private Apprentice. "His rider, Calla Bianchi, was my Patron. Did you know her?" Using Calla's name in past tense was unsettling. After Calla's move to White Shadow, she still hadn't met her new Patron, Angel.
Rayan's reaction was nothing short of baffling. Just after Daiyu had assured her nothing was going on, he became so hostile. And then in less than a minute, he said something like that! She wasn't sure exactly what he meant. That is, Eustace was already standing there. Wouldn't it be plain to see that she had already 'joined' them? Or maybe it was that he wanted her to join what she'd interrupted? She blushed. More appropriately, her skin turned only a shade lighter than her uniform. As he stepped toward her, Eustace instinctively took an awkward step back. "S-s-s-si-sir!?"
Even after he'd hidden behind Daiyu-to escape Zephyr, Eustace assumed, the torment wouldn't end. He couldn't be serious! To call her superior such a thing! As for the affectionate nature, Rayan must have warped the meaning in his mind so much that it meant the exact opposite of its definition. All of what he'd been saying seemed like some cruel joke. And then, like some miracle, Zephyr came to her rescue. Either that, or Rayan's apparent promiscuity had hurt Daiyu's pride in some way and Zephyr was going to 'repair the damage'. Whatever the reason, Eustace was thankful.
LunarFlare took this opprotunity to move behind Eustace. He wasn't sure who Zephyr had been talking to, but he decided it was best not to take any chances. After all, he had offended him earlier. Lunar looked from behind Eustace at the ensuing action. Aside from the small amount of hunting practice he'd done with his father, this was the only actual battle he had ever seen. It would be good now to make as many notes about this as possible.

Rayan listened with mild interest to the girls' conversation about wolves and markings, which he found to be useless small talk. Though personally, he had a preference for the natural looking wolves rather than how people seemed to dye ridiculous patterns on them - not that Darkheart would have let him come close with any dyes. But Rayan had always thought WoodWhisp's markings were dyed on.
"Calla, she was quite the spitfire," he commented with a feigned wistful expression. To be honest, her transfer had little effect on Rayan if any at all, though he would miss her attempts to kill him. But there were enough murderous women in this fort to make up for that, one less definitely wouldn't hurt him.
Glancing at Eustace, he noticed with interest that she seemed to be confused at first. But then the blush that touched her cheeks informed him that his words had finally sunk in, and Rayan couldn't help but grin with amusement. And her stuttering was even more amusing, and he chuckled a little. "No need to be so shy. Besides, a week with me and the other wolfriders will know better than to mess with you," he winked at Eustace.
A growl from Zephyr caught Rayan's attention and for a short moment, he only stared at the blue wolf blankly. It took a few seconds for him to realize that the fur bristling was directed at him and he took a step back, hands up in surrender as he rolled his eyes playfully. "Calm down, Zephy - talk is talk. Do I look like I would actually do anything to these beautiful ladies?" For emphasis, he offered an innocent look towards Zephyr.

(Lammmme. Sorry ;o; )
Taking a few steps forward, Daiyu wrapped her arms around Zephyr's neck, nuzzling into his soft fur. She murmured words of praise and gratitude, telling him he was a brave and loyal friend, but the actions were not needed. Slowly the wolf's eyes faded back to blue, and his fur settled down around his body. Growls still echoed from his throat, but they, too, were fading.
"Rayan, I am terribly sorry," Daiyu began, stroking Zephyr's muzzle, "but he seems not to like you very much." The words tumbled out of her mouth like cotton; she absolutely hated to tell someone that they were not very well liked, but she thought she should warn the male rider of Zephyr's...annoyance.
That is an understatement, my Rider, Zephyr growled, flicking his tail at Rayan. He looked pointedly at Lunar. You should keep a close eye on your rider while by this male one. He thinks only of mating.
Giggling softly at Zephyr's frank warning, Daiyu stood up and smiled in a Rayan-is-just-like-that way to Eustace.

|| I believe we're having the same troubles, Kira. Most of this post is just Eustace being paranoid. ><' || "W-was she?" Eustace had only spent the one day with her, being shown around and talking to each other. From what she'd seen of her, Calla had been very accomodating. Her short time was hardly enough to judge, she supposed. It took much longer to know a person. She looked to LunarFlare. He had certainly taken the move hard. After all,WoodWhisp was his father. Eustace wondered doubtfully if she would be able to schedule a few visits so that Lunar could see his parents and those of his siblings that had gone to White Shadow.
Eustace's blush stayed ever there as Rayan spoke. This was absurd! The winking and the... the flirting! Not to mention, he'd just laughed at her. It was definately mockery, all of it. She'd only been there a few minutes and he was mocking her! It was a right, though, wasn't it? He was a higher rank. Eustace would just have to grin and bear it until she became an equal. Then, if she ever felt audacious enough, she would express her discomfort. Of course, the chances that he would still bother teasing her by that time seemed slim. At first, he'd ignored her anyway.
Then something clicked. He'd seemed nice at first, but hadn't shown much interest. Then he was mad at her. At that point, he must have been deciding whether or not he should say such cruel things. It wasn't a game. It wasn't a joke. It was flat out ill intent. The blush was gone now, replaced by a straight, if not somewhat disappointed expression. Daiyu's look was no comfort. The both were definately in on it. Eustace had interrupted them (embarassing Daiyu and angering Rayan in the process) and now they were just trying to confuse her. Even Zephyr had been in on it, taking it out on poor LunarFlare.
To avoid confrontation by expressing unease, Eustace pretended to be unaware of these facts. She would play along with them. It was for the best. There was no need to cause more trouble for herself. She wanted to please the both of them with some reaction, but didn't want to be laughed at anymore. Acting embarassed got that reaction. So, Eustace decided, she should act the opposite. 'What should I say? Accepting would be too embarassing and it would just give him a chance to laugh at me again.' She corrected her stance, standing at attention once more. 'Indifferent. That's what I'll be.' Pay no attention to the words. Just look them in the eyes and respond without emotion. "I shall try not to be, sir." Eustace didn't reply to the other sentence. He was probably only expecting a blush and a bunch of stuttering anyway.
LunarFlare looked at the other wolf inquisitively. 'May-ting?' He asked, turning his head to the side. The first half, he'd gotten. The ladder meant nothing to him without the meaning of the last word. He tried to look at it logically. His parents were 'mated'. The only thing that meant to him was that they had raised himself and his siblings in the cave for several months. So, by extension, that must mean that this other rider was thinking of raising wolf pups in a cave somewhere with Eustace's help. Was that cause for concern?

[OoC: Please excuse Rayan's boldness... do feel free to slap or punch him. ^^]
Rayan stuck his tongue out a Zephyr as Daiyu approached the wolf to appease him. The former Sergeant offered the blue wolf a triumphant look as the growls faded slowly, quite pleased that Daiyu had jumped to his rescue, intentional or not. He would've thrown his arm around the woman again and probably given her an affectionate hug, but that might not bode very well with Zephyr. Rayan wasn't stupid, he knew better than to push a wolf to his limits, and Rayan knew he was very close to the line.
"Don't worry so much, honey. All the wolves secretly love me," Rayan assured Daiyu with a teasing smile, crossing his arms casually as he threw a mocking wink towards Zephyr. Having a wolf want to bite his head off wasn't anything new, especially when he was bonded to a wolf like Darkheart - that thing was almost if not as evil as Feral. And now Rose? No wonder those two had been drawn to each other. Rayan had never realized how frightening Rose could be. Females were so possessive, regardless of species.
Looking over at Eustace, Rayan had almost forgotten the girl was there since she had quieted down. Observing her carefully, he noticed that her demeanor had changed, from the shy bumbling apprentice to a more reserved young woman now. Rayan had been taught well by Adrian to be perceptive, but he really didn't care why Eustace had changed her attitude suddenly, because his goal was to loosen her up.
"Oh, lighten up," Rayan commented with a grin as he strode over to Eustace and threw his arm over her shoulders. He was much more bold with apprentices since the adolescent wolves were much less of a threat, plus most of them didn't really understand the intent of his actions - not that he intended to do anything Eustace. Yet. "We don't bite, promise."
But then Rayan threw a playfully suspicious look at the blue wolf. "Well, I don't know about Zephy there. He looks like he wants to chop me into pieces."

And indeed 'Zephy' did want to chop him into pieces. He swished his tail, his fangs set tight in his jaws. Moving even closer to Daiyu, the blue wolf watched as Rayan got close to Eustace. He turned his annoyed eyes on Lunar to escape having to look at that...man any longer. Eyes softening, Zephyr explained to the younger wolf. Mating. The act of breeding with another. Humans like Rayan do it for entertainment, instead of to produce young. That said, Zephyr turned back around and buried his head in his rider's small chest.
Daiyu glanced questionably at Zephyr. Her gaze changed to LunarFlare. Zephyr's explanation must mean that the young wolf didn't understand what mating meant. She wasn't sure telling the confused pup was a good idea, but as Zephyr already had, there wasn't much she could do. She just hoped it didn't cause any trouble.
Pushing her wolf away gently, Daiyu wrapped her coat around her a bit tighter. Zephyr blinked, tilting his head. Cold, my Rider? he questioned, nuzzling into her shoulder. "Only a bit cold, Dear One," Daiyu smiled, patting Zephyr. "I will be fine. Thank you." She glanced a bit apprehensively at Eustace and Rayan. Was she in their way, now?

|| I can change it if Eustace is too friendly with a superior. Or she can just suffer the concequences. ||
Lunar looked toward the human male, then toward Eustace and again his gaze fell upon the male. Breeding without young as an objective. Breeding for fun, for entertainment. It didn't make sense. Having never bred, never even thought of breeding, it was an elusive concept. The older wolf had reacted so angrily to it. What did it mean? Was LunarFlare supposed to be angry too?
Eustace seemed to have mixed feelings on the subject. It was difficult to tell what she wanted to happen. She was convinced it was some kind of deception, but wasn't taking any action to prevent it. It was her fear of confrontation again. She didn't want to anger a superior and risk further punishment. That made sense enough, but to allow something like that to happen when the others' reactions had been so hostile.
Eustace didn't like it, but wasn't stopping it. She didn't like it. That was enough to make him growl. It was soft. He was a bit unsure of himself. There had to be a reason Eustace was afraid of getting in trouble with this person. It was the same as with Alphas and Betas in the wolf pack. One just had to grin and bear whatever treatment they got. Lunar stayed put. Hurting the rider -or trying to- would only get Eustace in trouble.
Eustace's shoulders stiffened. It might have been embarassing if his weren't so obviously fake. Just a minute ago, he'd been showing the same 'affection' to Daiyu. There was no way he could feel the same for Eustace, and after just meeting, no less. But Daiyu wasn't saying anything. This could mean one of two things: 1. They weren't together. 2. She was in on it too. Logic and an incredible paranoia told her it was the second option. It wasn't fair. All this for interrupting them! How was Eustace supposed to know!
Her face twisted into an uneasy smile that hurt her face to make. He wanted her to lighten up. He wanted the stuttering and the blushing. Fine. Eustace gave up. It was pointless to think about these things, to make herself more uneasy. She reminded herself that she was given to overthink things. Her father had made it a point to tell her often when she was back at the farm. It was the same in DSSG back at the Academy. A boy waved at her and she'd run out of the room in embarassment.
Maybe she had just interpreted his words wrong. Maybe he was just given to fancy about friendship. 'Yes.' She decided. 'That has to be it.' A week of being friends with The Rayan Delamere was certain to prevent any confrontations with all of the wolfriders at the fort. It was a romantic, fanciful idea. She turned her head for the first time to the superior who was now in such close proximity, an unbelievably sincere smile on her face. Her eyes were big and watery.
Eustace stepped in front of him and took one of his hands into both of her own. He'd just had an arm around her shoulders, so this much had to be okay, right? Friends could do that, right? "D-d-d-d-do you mean it?" She could have been a puppy in a past life, her eyes resembling said animal begging for dog biscuits and the like. "A-all that s-stuff you said?"
LunarFlare's growling immediately stopped. "Huuuh?" The change in demeanor had happened so abruptly, even he was surprised. It was surprising enough that his confusion about the situation was audible. He looked toward Zephyr for help, but since that wolf didn't know what Eustace was thinking, it was doubtful that he would know any better. Lunar eyed Eustace and then the male rider. He repeated the confused sound to Zephyr. "Huuuh?"

Now, Rayan prided himself as THE most successful womanizer in the Fort because statistical facts proved the assumption to be very true; but if he had been in White Shadow, the numbers might have been altered due to the presence of more womanizers and consequently a breed of especially guarded women, though Rayan had no doubt he would still have easily been the reigning champion. Yet for all his charms, the reason for such success was his observant nature in which he carefully studied each and every reaction of the women, and then reacted accordingly in a fashion that had the highest percentage of success. Despite what he outwardly showed, Rayan had an extremely perceptive and calculating mind, because he certainly didn't defeat the previous Sergeant by sleeping with the woman - that happened after.
However, Rayan had to admit that the two women before him baffled him - not completely, but enough for him to retrace his thoughts and actions. First Daiyu had been opposed to his advances, yet now she showed signs of possible jealousy with that glance she threw their way... or maybe she was simply looking for a chance to slip away unnoticed. No, it couldn't possible be the latter, because who would willingly want to leave Rayan's company? Wait, what had she said to her wolf? Something about being a cold... a gear clicked in his head.
Allowing Eustace to slip out of from under his arm and ignoring the hesitant growls from the young wolf, Rayan unbuttoned and shrugged off his jacket, stepping slowly up to Daiyu as he held the coat out as a sign of peace to Zephyr. "To keep you warm. No funny business," he added as he kept an eye on the wolf, smiling and bowing slightly before stepping around to toss the coat lightly over Daiyu's shoulders. Then he stepped back quickly to avoid any potential snapping jaws that would come his way, and then gave the woman a wink once he was a safe distance away where he could easily jump under the bench if necessary.
Next came Eustace and her sudden change in demeanor again, and Rayan blinked in the smallest sign of confusion as the girl picked up one of his hands. The large watery eyes vaguely reminded him of a begging puppy and he glanced over to the apprentice's wolf, noting that LunarFlare's growling had stopped abruptly. The young wolf glanced over to Zephyr almost as if asking for direction, and Rayan decided that the current Eustace was acting truly. But that's what scared him because he could understand and easily handle fake facades. Bipolar personalities, on the other hand, were not exactly his area of expertise - and the possibility of adding yet another mental case to the Patrol didn't really appeal to him. Angel was more than enough.
"...yes, I do?" Rayan responded hesitantly, eyebrows furrowed in uncertainty as he tried to look away from the soulful eyes. One reason he hated children was because they looked like ugly pigs when they pouted like this, but Eustace managed to look sincere. Rayan found himself slipping out of his usual womanizing attitude and falling into the strangest mindset - he had the urge to embrace the apprentice in a reassuring hug! The horror of it all, he was being corrupted by a little girl!
"Come join us in a threesome," the former Sergeant blurted out in an attempt to save his reputation, before realizing he may have very well further corrupted this girl's innocence. But a second consideration and he decided that she would be corrupted sooner or later, probably sooner since she was now a New Eve apprentice, so it really didn't matter. Rayan raised an amused eyebrow at Zephyr, "Or foursome, if the wolf insists on joining us." And then a quick apologetic glance to LunarFlare, "Sorry but you're still too young. Maybe next year."

(New colors! And, careful, Rayan! *Careful everyone else. Lame post again*)
Zephyr didn’t understand the situation; Daiyu herself didn’t either. She blinked confusedly. One moment Rayan was being a gentlemen, and offering her his coat (which she accepted rather embarrassedly), then he was making a move on both of the girls at once! What exactly was this man up to? Could he actually be serious?
“I...t-that is...well...,” the stuttering was back, mixing up Daiyu’s words as they tumbled from her mouth. She had no idea what to say! Helpless eyes glued to Zephyr, she sent a wave of desperate pleas to him.
Zephyr was about to ask Lunar what was wrong with his rider when he felt Daiyu’s turmoil. He instantly knew it was that man that caused it. Turning sharply towards Rayan, his white fangs bared in an awful snarl, Zephyr leapt forward, catching the man’s arm loosely in his jaws, waiting for a command from Daiyu to crunch down. His blue eyes were now a steel grey as they burned hatred towards the male rider who was upsetting his friend.

Eustace smiled, eyes still big and teart. "Then let's be best friends, Si-" Wait. Wasn't there a nickname he'd wanted her to call him earlier? After recalling, she thought it was a strange name to want to be called, but whatever made her new best friend happy. "Oh! I mean, Se...." Had been Eustace's short and ill thought out continuation before all of whatever friendly admiration she'd had was thrown out of the figurative window. So, too, was that smile, which was replaced with wide eyes and a twitching lip. If his other statements hadn't been enough to be clear on his intentions, the threesome comment definately was. "Wha..?"
Click. 'He was just being a pervert!' Yes, Eustace had misinterpreted many times, but she was positive this time. It hadn't been any deception so long as you didn't count the part where he looked like a gentleman. Rayan definately hadn't wanted to be friends. Without any delusion to convince herself that it was something other than perversion, the blush returned. Even though it was a bit of a- She looked at the wolf and winced a bit- disgusting notion, it was the first time anyone had ever spoken to her that way.
The backs of her hands were cold, but her palms were surprisingly warm. At first, Eustace thought it was because of embarassment or some natural bodily function, then she looked down. She was still holding his hand! Eustace quickly ended the contact and stepped back several feet. Maybe she thought that being a few feet away would prevent any further 'propositions', but whatever the case, it certainly wasn't for the reason for which after doing so she was extremely thankful that she did.
Zephyr lunged at Rayan and had she not moved at that precise moment, she might have been caught somewhere in the confusion. Eustace wasn't a particularly violent person, but while half of her wanted for things to calm down, the other half insisted that the man deserved it. The feeling confused her. She never wished for any given person to get hurt. It could have been for confusing her, but after thinking about it, she'd seen that his advances were fairly straightforward. It might also have been for the perversion, but after careful consideration, she decided that she was more flattered than offended. What was it?
LunarFlare didn't know what exactly the word meant, but as soon as Eustace had thought it, he repeated it. 'Pervert! Pervert!' Even not knowing what it meant, the tone with which she thought it was enough to say that it was something detestable. 'Pervert!' The growling started again, this time louder and more confident.
As soon as the older wolf attacked, however, his growling had stopped. He now looked on with interest at the technique Zephyr was using, how he positioned himself when he'd jumped, all of that. Lunar had been hoping to see a real battle earlier when the male rider had become dangerously close to being attacked. He memorized the motions. This was it, the first violence he'd seen. It was a bit scary at first, and then was the most fascinating thing in the world.

Rayan found himself extremely amused by Eustace's innocence, which quickly disappeared at his last comment. If she hadn't understood him before, she did now, which was a good thing because he wasn't sure he could continue talking to someone who thought he only wanted to be friends. Actually, he did want to be frineds... with benefits.
Dropping his arms to his side, Rayan raised an eyebrow at Eustace, but never losing his charming smile. He loved when a woman blushed, which was why he was always so full of perverted comments. He wasn't serious when he said them most of the time, only because he knew most everyone wouldn't be open to the suggestions. But if someone was willing to explore, who was he to say no?
No need to scare the girl away though. Not yet, anyways. Rayan raised an arm and waved his hand in a dismissive manner. "Don't worry, I'm just messing around with you." A wink followed his statement, which was short-lived when a blur of blue lunged at him.
"Hey!" he shouted with instinctual anger, noting that his arm was now caught loosely in the wolf's jaw. But he wasn't so scared, only extremely annoyed that Zephyr had lunged at him without warning. Rayan wasn't new to being attacked by wolves - in fact, he still had several scars thanks to Darkheart and the wolf's daily beatings.
Rayan managed to glare down at Zephyr. "Now-now, Wolf. I won't be able to participate in the battles if I'm missing an arm. And you know that we need all the able riders to be able when spring comes around." A pointed look at Daiyu in hopes she would understand and call off the wolf. But on second thought, he wasn't exactly sure how much control the woman had over the wolf - he certainly wasn't able to tell Darkheart what to do. An apology was in order. "And don't worry, I promise not to upset your rider anymore." At least not without Damien around to act as shield.

"Zephyr, release."
Daiyu stood firm, her body shaking, but her face set. She shook her head at the blue wolf. "You are not that kind of creature, Zephyr. Do not resort to violence because of a few impolite words." She wasn't sure if he'd listen, she could only hope. "I am able to take the jokings of a fellow private."
Zephyr's jaws slackened as he listened. However, he wasn't satisfied. He sent images of herself crying to her, flooding her mind with sadness and shame. He wouldn't let that happen; no one would make her cry.
"Zephyr! Enough, please!" Wobbling, Daiyu held her head, the images too much for her. He had never sent her such things before -she couldn't even sort half of them. But she understood how much he cared for her, and how much he wanted to protect her. That much was obvious. Zephyr saw Rayan as a threat to Daiyu's happiness.
The pictures stopped as Zephyr released Rayan's arm completely and rushed to his rider. She reached out and wrapped her arms around him, burying her head in his warm fur. The shaken girl stroked his back. "Thank you, Dear One, but I will never need to cry as long as you are with me," she whispered into his ear.
Looking up, Daiyu attempted a smile. "Are you hurt, Rayan? Please, forgive Zephyr. He was only acting on my own discomfort. If anyone is to be punished, please let it be me."
