Puffing her little chest out with disdain at the words he'd said, she gave him a hard glare in an attempt to be intimidating. She watched him as he circled her, following his every move and then jumped onto the high rocks. Mollie had never been that high before, but she bet she could follow him just as high.
Despite her the size difference in them, what she lacked in size, Mollie made up in observation. She'd seen the way his claws scraped the rocks to stay on, studied his muscle patterns in order to leap that high. She started with the lowest rocks, grunting in an attempt to continue on higher. I'll prove myself to him. I can be a warrior! ... ....Or a scout. I'm good at observing... Maybe she'd talk to him later on about that.
She got about four rocks up when she couldn't jump the whole way to the fifth rock and fell back down to the third rock, grunting. Her spine had hit the rock and left her breathless and highly uncomfortable. Attempting to flip over, she managed to fall the rest of the way to the floor, not knowing her barrings that great, and ended up on her stomach, surrounded by a cloud of dust. "Uuuhn...." A whine and a whimper left her throat, not even trying to move now.

Vu giggled at Mollie as she fell. He put his paws over the edge of the stone and sat down to look at her with a big grin. “Are you okay? That’s not what I meant.”
He hopped off the stone and landed solidly beside her. Seeing that she was alright, he arched a brow smugly. His dad probably wouldn’t waste his time on a goofy girl like her. In spite of that, Vu thought he should give her a chance. Mrost would give anyone a chance if they really wanted to be strong. That was why he appeared to Vu’s grandfather, right?

She snorted at him and slowly got up and shifted on her paws gently. She didn't feel so good anymore. Mollie was sore; something she really didn't like. With a sigh, she frowned and looked to the pale pelted cub and drooped her head, shoulder blades poking out with her movements. If that's not what he meant, then what did he mean?
Looking at the sky, she frowned when she noticed it was getting closer to the hottest part of the day. Wanting to find shade, she looked around and walked over to a tree and settled under it, panting, letting the cooler air run over her pallet and cool her blood. She was hot for a few different reasons, mainly because she'd just made a fool of herself in front of him.

“To be a warrior, you have to prove your strength,” Vu continued. “You also have to prove that you’re brave. And that you can do hard work. And… and that you’re tough. You do this with a special task. A quest.”
Feeling the sun roasting on his tan pelt, Vu eagerly followed her into the shade. He sat down in front of her, his hind legs sprawled out in what grown-ups would call an undignified manner. To Vu it made no difference. Sitting was sitting and his body thanked him for it. Finally he lay his belly down on the cool earth and sighed. “So, how come you don’t talk much?”

She rolled her shoulders at his question, though she listened to what he said. It half sounded like he was making it up, but she wouldn't say so. Mollie's green eyes watched him carefully before giving him a nudge with her tail. "I watch.... Observe.." She'd rather do that than speaking. It made things better, in her opinion. Shifting, she flopped over onto her side and panted, breathing in the dust and making a face.
Dirt didn't taste very good. "I like making observations... I see things others don't..."

“Oh. That doesn’t sound very brave,” Vu said thoughtlessly and laid his head on his paws.

She shrugged and sighed a bit. It didn't matter what he thought was brave; but what she thought was brave, right? Right. Nodding a bit, she licked at her paws, rolling to her belly with a little bit of a wince. "Observing takes bravery... To go where you're not supposed to to watch something you're not supposed to. Scouting out enemies and reporting back... Even playing a decoy; going to the enemy and pretending to be one of them, and sneak away to report back.."
Bravery was very different.

Vu’s ears perked a little. Sometimes her voice got too quiet for him to hear clearly, but he made out enough of her words to understand. His mother had been harsh on him for disobeying her. He could see how you had to be brave to sneak away from where you're supposed to be and spy on other animals.
“I guess so,” he muttered, shrugging. “But when you’re a warrior, you have to be brave enough to look into the eyes of a bigger lion coming right at you, stand your ground and fight. It’s different.”

Ugh, her throat hurt something bad. She swallowed and rubbed it with a paw with a little whimper. Talking wasn't her forte, but it was the only thing the cub seemed to understand, so why not? Huffing a little bit, she rolled her eyes and pawed at his nose and mouth before rolling over onto her back to close her eyes. She was getting sleepy. All cubs her size tended to sleep more than anything.
With a wide, loud yawn, she made it known and shook her head. "Hn.... Scout... I could be one..." Would she work with Vu still, if she was a scout? She didn't know, but it was definitely something to think about. She could talk to her dad about it.

Vu nodded sympathetically. He too wanted to be a scout one day, since it seemed like the best position to defend the pride from outsiders like hyenas and evil lions. Vu had never heard of evil lions before, but he assumed they must be out there somewhere. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be any reason to have warriors in the Pridelands. With Mollie falling asleep, he decided not to mention it right now.
This seemed like as good a place as any to nap until the sun cooled off. He stretched out, feeling the cool earth all along his body, closed his eyes and waited for sleep.
