what "flaws" make steamboy not steampunk
I mean SP is an aesthetics movement so if something has the aesthetic then it's pretty much all good.

Desmond Belmonte I found one that's very Steampunk. It's called SteamBoy, and it was made by the same guy who made Akira. The English cast includes the following actors: Ann Paquin Alfred Molina Patrick Stewart Kate Walhgren I found Steamboy to be thoroughly disappointing. But then again I didn't really get Akira either... neutral I think Full Metal Alchemist belongs on the list. It might not be die-hard steampunk, but it's similar enough to be worth a watch, don't you think?

Quinn Darkheart Nausica is Steampunkish (Flying ships in a Archaic world) Castle in the Sky, Howls Moving Castle. A bit more Magic in these, but still. I am a Manga nut, so, I keep looking for good stuff. On a Similar note, Battle Angel Alita is Cyberpunk. Cyborgs and robots in a post-apoctliptic world. Yes win!!! Nausica is so beautiful, really the best manga art I've ever seen.

Last Exile, is amazing
however, my fav anime's are not steampunk at all!
Appleseed, -futuristic, robots, etc
Ghost In The Shell, -futuristic, matrix-y, etc
Black Lagoon, -modern day, pirates, overthetop violence and amazing character design
Negima, -modern day, magic, school-based
Rosario+Vampire, -modern day, magic/monster, school based (although thats only the setting, most of the action takes place elsewhere), romance
Soul Eater, -modern day, magic, similar to "Nightmare Before Christmas" in aethsetics and setting, but far more violent.
i could go on, but i suggets anyone looking for something new to watch look up those i have listed, you may get a plesent suprise!
