Savith gave Dancer a nod as she provided the information he was going to need, as he waited for Creek Runner.

She groaned a little and sighed. Babysitting. Just what she wanted to do. This large group of mismatched hunters going out into the woods like this, she doubted anything would be caught with all the ruckus.

Her hunting parties consisted of two or three, not... this many! Rolling her eyes she set out off to one side away from the others and sent to Dewpaw. **Stay close** she said with an obvious gruffness.

With Autumns send Dancer squeezed the big cat with her legs lightly and off they went. Not at a full blown run but more like a light trot. She could tell Autumn was used to riding just by the way she sat with her. Dancer had a few not so skilled riders on Fire Brights back and felt it in every movement. Still she was glad for company as they moved along. She tried hard to keep her mind on the task at hand but it was hard. She liked talking and sending and being bubbly. It wasn't in her to be so serious even for a hunt. Even as the great cat under her was indeed in hunting mode as he slowed his pace and walked with purpose. *Autumn I never did get to thank you for the spear head you made for me. It is amazing what you do.* Her send was honest with feeling and gratitude to the rock shaper.

The tiger under her was an odd feeling and Autumn would rather make her was through the trees but the Chief said to stay with the healer. It was important that she be kept safe. *You're welcome healer. Please ask if you need anything. My powers are a gift to share with my pack.* The send sort of trailed off there. The word pack sort of triggering the self conflict but she put it aside and remained focused on the hunt.

Creek Runner

Creek nodded to Savith and took the Glider's hand, readying himself for what he assumed would be an interesting ride. "I'll do what I can, Chief. I think I've seen these animals you speak of, but I'd have to see them to be sure. But if I'm right, they aren't the easiest prey to take down," Creek offered the little knowledge he had, glad to be of use to teh tribe he was now staying with.

Savith's hand tightened slightly as Creek Runner puts his hand in his own. Mind reaching out, the glider lifted the two up, pulling them from the ground and the rest of the hunters. As he moved them, a portion of his mind reached down toward Starsong's, seeking the familiar perchance the two had begun to develop during the winter's hunts in her homeland and more as they spent more and more time in close proximity after the Sundering. Through it, quick bits of information could be shared without needing to relocate the other first. If, that is, distance would allow the connection without too much effort.

"I'll be glad for your insight," Savith replied aloud to Creek Runner as he began to fly them in the direction he spotted the herd much earlier that morning. "If you're familiar with them or anything like them. I will admit to less skill hunting with elves than with my own bond, but such is the way of things now."

Huntress Starsong
Vice Captain

Starsong didn't wait for the cub, she assumed that the cub heard her, and obeyed her command as she took off. Following a V pattern that she was sure Savith had known of her hunting tactics by now, she headed off to surround whatever it was that they were after, whatever it was that Savith had seen.

As she zigzagged through the tree's her head started to feel like cotton again, a low humming had returned. She shook her head and rubbed her temples absently as she steered Shine instinctively off the V pattern.

**I..I see some** she sent hastily to Savith, sending her the image of ravvits bounding away and diving under an old dead log as the huntress made her way towards them. There must be at least 4 of them, this would surely make a good meal.

Mid-flight, Creek Runner in tow, the glider frowned. He tilted his head back and down, in Starsong's direction, though she could no longer be seen from his height.

A flickered thought shot from his mind to hers through that mental link they had formed over time, **Ravvits? Starsong, no. We're after larger game. Enough to feed us well and leave some to smoke for winter. What are you doing chasing ravvits? Stay focused.** The annoyance rippled clearly, mind aggitated by the fogged cotton-mind sensation of Starsong's images.

Dewpaw climbed onto Morningtail and followed the other wolfrider without a word. She hadn't talked to Starsong much, and the elfess didn't seem like she was in the mood to talk. Dew decided early on that she would have rather gone with Dancer or Savith. Still, she followed behind Starsond, recognizing a hunting pattern, but becoming confused when Starsong left the path they should've been following. She too saw teh ravvits and smelled them, but Savith had described something larger, a lot larger. *Starsong, where are you going? I thought we were heading out to the cleared lands. To hunt the large things Savith saw. Not ravvits. They aren't big enough to be what Savith described.* Dew sent, her confusion evident, but she didn't force Starsong to change course. After all, starsong was the elder, and in their pair, the alpha.

Growing tired of riding the large cat rather quickly Autumn let her mind drift just a little. How fast thing have changed for her. How fast her own life seemed to be moving at times. Letting her eyes slip closed she left her ears and nose take in what it could. The sounds of crisp leaves, birds fluttering and small animals bolting for cover. Her nose told of the change in the seasons more then the sights. Even the ground smelled different in the fall. The thing that stuck out most to her nose was the healers hair. It blew back and in her face. A rather annoying sensation but nothing could be done. It smelled of salt and flowers. Autumn wondered how the boundlessly happy healer could remain so happy all the time. It had to have something to do with the Wavedancer of course and maybe the healing power itself. Maybe it healed her when she felt blue, lonely or upset. Autumn had little idea how healing worked other then it fixed a wounded body.

Shattered Human 1

PostPosted: Fri Feb 27, 2009 7:52 am

A few hundred yards ahead of the large shaggy creatures is a series of wrinkles in the landscape - hills. The hills funnel the plains through many narrower rivulets of paths, breaking the smooth grassland into a series of rough and hilly bumps.

Most of the human hunting group is positioned just past the first few hills, preparing for their hunt, while a few other members have broken off from the main group to flank the buffalo.

Of course, none of the elves can see this, except perhaps Savith and Creekrunner once they reach a high enough altitude, but the human hunters are fairly skilled and keeping themselves hidden, so their detection would be quite difficult even then.

((Please roll a 10-sided dice to determine if you detect the humans - get a 7 or higher to see movement from this group, 6 or lower you don't notice them.))

Savith flew with Creek Runner, turning his attention back toward the ground and the herd that he had spotted once his mental communication with Star was done for the moment, but so focused on keeping the two aloft and sending with Star and trying to spot the herd, the normally astute Chosen failed to see the human hunting party.

"There they are," he said to the plainsrunner, pointing with a free hand. "Do they look like anything with which you are familiar?"

Creek Runner

PostPosted: Sat Feb 28, 2009 9:40 am

Creek tried focusing on scanning the earth for the herd, but being high in the air with nothing solid below him was a lot different than riding a no-hump. Therefor, his eyes tended to stay focused on Savith, in hopes that his mind would forget the earth was far below, so he too missed the human hunters. When Savith spoke, he followed where the elf pointed. He could make out a number of large animals, just like Savith had described.

He nodded, "Yes, I've seen them. We called them thunder-hooves. the elders said they were also called mane-horns, by another tribe of my people. And the humans call them... buffalo." Creek stammered on the last word, trying to fit his mouth around the odd man-tongue. "They are stubborn, like you. Arrows can take them down, but they fight as long as there is blood in them. some hunters in my tribe have been injured by them. When they get close, they are dangerous. They have the power of a mountain when they charge. They are quick and agile, for their size, but they aren't as agile as wolves I've seen. Nor as fast as no-humps. They have horns, sharp sometimes. The males do the most fighting. But mothers are more dangerous, like any animal protecting their colts."

She was already off her bond, dagger in hand trying to reach the little bundles of fur. Ravvits! They were everywhere. This is what she must have been smelling (sensing).

Hand flailing around under the old log as Savith sent to her. Her face scrunched up in a scowl as she looked at all the ravvits under the log. Bigger? She didn't smell (sense) anything bigger, the Ravvits were right here, and there was a lot of them. They may not make it all the way through winter, but it would be a good start.

Next came Dewpaw's send, and a shock of pure anger coursed down her spine. Who was this whelp, who was she to tell her what to do. She turned and glared at Dewpaw, baring her teeth. She was the elder, and the hunter, this pip had neither the experience or the years to back up all her talk. So who was she, to tell her what to do.

Turning away from Dewpaw she would have continued to mess around with the Ravvits, but she received a direct order from her Chief, one that she could not just ignore. Growling lowly she got back on Shine and headed off to catch up with the others. The humming in her head growing louder, urging her to turn back where the game was. How could she ignore such a strong primal instinct. It was incredibly difficult, as it pulled almost physically at her heart.

Savith hmm'd softly as he held the pair aloft, eyes on the herd animals. "What would you suggest as the best way to take one down safely," he asked, mind trying to sort it out. "Could we separate one from the rest?"
