Hurry, he said. While it didn't sound to her like he was actually speaking to her it was obnoxious all the same. What exactly did he think they were doing? She was moving about as quickly as she could at the moment. Her legs were stiff and cold, her mane and tail were starting to freeze at the ends, she felt unreasonably tired and to top it all off her head was starting to feel fuzzy and he was saying 'hurry'.

She snorted angrily with crystal eyes narrowing. Her mouth opened for barley a second to shoot some snarky remark in his direction before it shut quickly. Right now she didn't even want to bother with insulting him. Childish as it may be he was going to get the silent treatment. With a little huff and a flick of her tail she focused her full attention on the scenery before her and despite all her inner griping she managed to pick up her pace a bit.

The silence helped her concentrate on what she was supposed to be doing and before long she saw an orange glow before them. Two-legger's fire. Her heart soared. They had found it and not a moment too soon. The fuzziness of her mind was begging to spread to the corners of her vision and it felt like a fire had been lit in her chest.. The sooner that she got to lay down the better.

"You...you...can get...lost now..." She muttered breaking her silence just for a moment. She would be fine now. Those with two legs always seemed willing to help out her kind for some reason. She just needed to make it to them. The trouble was, it didn't feel like she was getting any closer. She was just steps away from the outermost teepee but she couldn't seem to reach it. She was so close, but why wasn't she moving any more? She blinked a few times as the image in front of her began to sway. Amoena didn't even realize that she was the one moving back and forth unsteadily.

It felt like she had lost a lot of blood even though she knew she hadn't. It felt like she was going to pass out.

He wasn't the best conversationalist, especially when the recipient didn't want to be spoken to. But he tried to make things better, he tried to make it a lot less tense between the two of them. Maybe hurry wasn't the best thing to mutter, but heck...he'd never really know what she was thinking would he?

But no other words came from the mare, which was both good and bad. Bad because perhaps she was too hurt to speak? Too weak? What if her voice had frozen? Very unlikely situation, Emmett realized, but he also knew to never say never. Good because he didn't have to keep talking himself just to keep her in balance. If walk in silence is what she wished then he would oblige. Every word that they spoke made them weaker, every breath wasted with an insult or a comeback made the trip all that more harder.

The orange that grew as they approached it with every step burned in his smokey eyes. Normally fire didn't appeal to him that much, normally he'd stray from it but this particular fire said only two things. Safety. Warmth. For both of them. When Amoena spoke, the stallion grumbled a bit, his heart almost crushed by her words. The two of them made it this far and she wanted him gone already? Well, what about warming himself up as well? She wasn't the only frozen one, she was just in a much, much worse condition. "No, you haven't proved to me that you'll be fine. I want to see you warm, moving....healthy. The two of us will stay here together until the two-leggers stop helping us."

Emmett had never seen a two-legger up close before, his grandfather said they were wonderful creatures, but his grandfather also thought that about everyone. But this mare seemed not to mind them, so they couldn't be too bad right? It took a few seconds for him to realize what was happening to the mare before him. What...she...what? It looked as though she was about to loose her balance, if she actually did....if she crashed...right here, right now....he wouldn't be able to help her to the fire all by himself. He wasn't that strong! The stallion dove underneath her body to try and keep her from falling, his head resting just below her belly.

If she was going to fall though, there was a huge chance he'd fall with her. Which wasn't the smartest decision, but at least he was able to keep his balance and continued to walk, if ever so slowly.

"HELP?" He called out, mostly to the two-leggers. He knew they couldn't understand him, but maybe the cry would get their attention enough to notice the two of them?

Something steadied her suddenly and allowed her head a moment to clear enough to keep her from falling over. Even in her clouded mind she knew not what but who it was. At the moment she was unable to feel irritation towards him due largely to the fact that he was probably the only reason she hadn't toppled over. Of course she wasn't feeling gratitude towards him either. He was still a pain in her a** even if he was helping.

As he called for help she muttered about he much of an idiot he was. The two-legged kind couldn't understand their speech, which was better for them since they likely never wanted to hear what Amoena really thought of them. The rustling sound of fabric drew her attention and she watched in amazement as two humes appeared wrapped in the skin of some beast.

The two of them spoke to each other in a tongue that she could understand no better then they could understand her. One of them shrugged the skin he was wearing off his shoulders and slowly approached making odd clicking noises with his tongue. The first time she had experienced this she had bitten the one approaching her, luckily for this man she knew now that the idiotic sounds were supposed to be soothing. She allowed him to get close to her and drape the skin over her before he stepped away.

There was a look of worry and urgency on his face before he turned to look back at his companion. She was a little alarmed to find that suddenly there were four of them, then two, then four...why couldn't the decide how many they wanted to be? The furthest of the two was moving towards Emmett in the same way she had been approached. She just hoped that he had some sort of experience with two-leggers prior to this. They were going to help them, she just hoped he realised that because she felt the hands of the human thread loosely into her mane as he worked to lead her away slowly. She help herself together the best as she could despite seeing doubles and feeling unbelievably dizzy. She was only a few steps away from a good place to rest. She could make it, she had to.

He could feel everything about to go wrong literally seconds before the noise came. Looking up he saw two creatures walking on their hind legs come toward Amoena and himself. They had something with them, as to which Emmett only processed and safety and warmth. Frankly at this point he could care less if they were carrying a dead carcass toward them (ewww) he just wanted the mare to be safe.

His mind was so focused on seeing Amoena safe that he hardly heard the little noises that the two-leggers were making at them. A quick twist of the eye told him that one of them was wrapping the...animal around his newly found 'friend', yay warmth! He didn't care that it looked hideous and quite freaky, if he provided her with warmth it was good enough for him.

And then it was his turn. The friend of the two legger that helped Ame was now moving his way over to Emmett. After watching the first act, he was somewhat comfortable with whatever the second guy was going to do to him. Just as long as no one was going to get hurt, himself included. The second two-legger did the same as the first, and slowly tried to lead the stallion toward the warmth.

Warmth.

That was the only thing keeping Emmett from dashing out of there. Hell if he could, but IF he could....warmth was the only reason he was still conscious. He helped the two-legger walk him, as he was probably too big to put all his weight on the soft pulling but he really didn't want to. He wanted to be done NOW. He wanted to sleep.

Eh, he was not good at this whole hero-thing. Maybe next time he'd just stick to keeping to himself.

"Hey....Miss?" He called to Amoena, hoping she could hear his faint voice. "You doing okay?"

Every step took far more effort then it ever should from her. Her legs wobbled and she was unable to keep the world focused for longer then a few seconds which caused her to sway now and then. Every time she moved one way or another the human through practically his whole weight against her to get her steady.

He was lucky that she was almost made out of stubborn and was unwilling to let even her body tell her what to do at this point. With each step she drew closer to the fire that would keep her alive through the night. She was very close to being in a good spot when she heard the voice of the pest behind her.

She snorted slightly and didn't even bother to look over the shoulder. "I don't care...what you want to do...you better be gone when I wake up." Each fragment of speech was punctuated by a step towards the fire and away from the stallion. He had done one thing right, he had motivated her to move a lot faster then she had been. By the time she had finished her sentence she was at the fire.

The two-legger released her mane and tried to ease her to the ground. She didn't wait for his assistance and dropped to the earth like a lead weight. The hume was startled but didn't back away, he just readjusted the pelt on her so that it covered her more completely. Amoena paid him no attention even as he pressed a hand to her head. The dizzy feeling in her head hadn't vanished once she was down like she had expected it to but a good nights rest would surely cure that. Her lids slowly closed over her eyes as she welcomed her body's invitations to rest finally. Before long she was out cold.
