Jesus shed his innocent blood on a cross he did not deserve and bridged the gap between man and the Father so that we may be cleansed through his baptism and renewed in faith through his body and blood. A lamb pure and blameless offered on the altar. God's wrath he took for all time so that his righteousness may be mine.

I think a better question is what doesnt he do? Everything good in your life is from Christ. We do nothing to earn it or to deserve it. No matter how many good things we try to do, they are still filthy and horrible in comparison to Christ. Everything good in my life, including my life I owe to Christ Jesus. He has given me everything.

I don't claim any time as the time when I "chose Christ", because it wasn't at all like that - Jesus has always been in my life (I'm a preacher's kid, grew up in a Christian home), so I would say that instead I had to grow in Christ as I became more and more aware of Him, and as I've gotten older I've understood more and more what's He does for me.
