Seth tilted his head towards Shen, expressing genuine intrest. "I love trees." He replied, "They're lipr-liet... protection. Whenever you feel threatened... you just run into the woods anthcon-... they conceal you." Seth grimaced each time he stuttered, looking to Shen in embarrassment. "And sometimes they drop fruit..." He looked up in appreciation towards the canopy, slowing his step.

It was curious to see seth actually listening, honestly he hadnt thought the buck would be so interested, it seemed that he was though. It was nice for a change to have someone listening. Returning a soft smile to seths looks, the male did stutter quite a bit, had a problem with words, for some reason though it didn't bother shen at all. The stuttering was almost cute, and seth had a soft sweet enough voice that it was rather pleasant to hear him speak slowly.
"Fruit?" the male questioned, pausing slightly in his step as he looked up along with seth, staring at the trees curiously. "I've never seen a tree with fruit on it..do these really drop fruit?" a bit of excitement in his voice as he spoke, it felt silly almost, realizing all the the things he'd never tried, ah but in the area he'd come from they didnt have such things as daisys and trees with fruit. Maybe if one was lucky there were a few nuts lying about, but never fruit.

"Yeah. It's so jweet and shushi... Errhh... Juicy and sweet." Seth chuckled nervously at himself, slowly coming to a stop. His smile dropped and his nose twitched. A haunting thought invaded his mind. Trees can also conceal predators. "Shen... what is that?" Seth whispered. Maybe he was just being paranoid, but something didn't feel right. There was a peculiar smell in the air. He shifted his hooves nervously, as he readied to dart.

Shen snickered softly, he didnt mean to really, but that slip up turned out to be rather funny, probably his favorite word mistake yet made by the other male. Distracted for a moment by his own thoughts, not noticing seths sudden change in demeanor until the other buck finally spoke. "Whats what.." shen whispered back, wondering what was so worrisome that it needed to be whispered about.
Finally paying attention, noticing seths nervous shifting, shen suddenly felt on edge, ears raised and back as he took to sniffing at the air, tail swishing a bit more quickly behind him. The purple buck took a few steps closer to seth, whatever it was it wouldn't be talon..couldn't, could it? He didn't know much about the species...Maybe some larger predator in the area, a wild cat type, a hungry bear.."Seth..." he was trained on the other deers reaction, that little pack mentality taking in, ready to bolt the moment seth did. The sound of a cracking twig in the tree above, not to far off from them was enough to make the herla jump.

The snapping twig set him off. With the twitch of his thigh, he dashed away. He could only hope he wasn't running in the direction of the predator as he leaped over obstacles. Low hanging branches whipped him in the face, even as he turned to see if Shen was behind him. The earth beneath him seemed to crumble and Seth found himself tumbling down the wall of a deep, moist, ditch.

Shen darted off after seth, the moment he felt the buck move from his side, eyes moving from the ground to the trees above as he felt the earth fly beneath his feet, occasionally glancing to the green patch of blur that was seth. The dark shadow that seemed to break through the branches above, sending a rain of both leaves and twigs down upon his back.
The male panicked something fierce as when he looked ahead again seth was gone from his sight. He had been there just a split second ago just before he'd looked up and now, now where was he! Skidding to a halt in his flight nearly tripping over himself in the process, breath coming quick as he glanced frantically about for that blur of green and antlers. The caw of a crow sounded hollowly through the trees, calming him a bit at least enough to call out to seth..Had their stalker only been a bird? Maybe, but for some reason he could still feel the presence of something lurking, like there were eyes on his back.

Seth laid at the bottom of the ditch covered in muck. Dazed and sore, he groaned in pain. Lifting his head, he gazed around in an attempt to locate his position. All he could see were walls of dirt, and stray metal scraps. Carefully, Seth got to his hooves and checked for any injuries. Besides a few scratches and bruises, he was unharmed. The mud fell from his coat in chunks as he wandered towards the wall he fell from.
After a few failed attempts at leaping at the wall, and then sliding down, he came to a gloomy conclusion. It was way too steep to climb. Seth sighed, trying to rid himself of anxiety as he looked at the sky. I hope Shen's alright, he thought.
"Shen!" Seth tried to call out, but his voice is always quiet. "Shen!!" Seth paused, hoping for some sort of response.

"Seth!" shen stood quietly for a moment, almost holding his breath as he listened again intently, he could have sworn that he'd heard a quiet voice calling out his name, he just couldnt figure out where it had come from. His ears perking up tilting his head slightly as he heard it again. It was seth this time! He was alright, but..but where was he?
"Seth! Seth its okay" it was all he could really think to say at the moment, following the sound of the soft spoken voice, the buck yelping as he caught himself nearly slipping into a large ditch had he not been paying attention to where he was walking. The edges around it were thick with mud..an old hole made by the creatures who had lived long before them maybe. "Seth" he couldnt believe the buck was down there, but maybe..

"Shen!!" Seth shouted as he flicked mud off his ear. He stared intently at the edge of the wall, placing his hooves on it to get a better view. He leaned in, hearing Shen's faint voice. A sigh of relief swept over him as he saw Shen's silhouette at the top of the wall. "I'm down here!"
Seth was relieved, but the inevitable doom haunted the back of his mind. I'm going to starve down here. I can't get out of this ditch!
"Shen! Help!"

"Seth! Oh thank goodness.." shen sighed deeply skirting his way around the hole, leaning close enough to peer down into it. Sure enough there was seth..now a green and brown mess, obviously covered in thick mud. "I gotta say, I was worried I'd lost you" now there was a rather big dilemma though, how exactly was he supposed to get to seth, or better yet get seth out without getting himself stuck.
"Help? Yeah help! I'll think of something alright!" shen stuttered slightly glancing about nervously, help..maybe mabye a ramp or..or a branch? "Seth is there anything you can use to climb up on in there?"

He flicked mud off his ear as he pranced after Shen's silhouette around the top of the hole. "Of course..." Seth's hooves sunk in the deep mud, making him nervous as he scanned the hole for a possible ramp. Again, all he could see was dirt walls and metal scraps. "No, nothing..." He huffed in frustration, and looked back up to Shen helplessly. "Wait..." With a whisper from his Guardian, Seth took a second look at the wall behind him. He was told there was something hidden there... Struggling through the thick mud, Seth went to investigate. A hoof against the wall resulted in a loud clang. There was a car protruding from the wall, hidden with the gooey muck. Seth stepped back, preparing a running jump atop the car... and hopefully out of the pit. He sprang into action, gracefully gliding across the mud and leaping onto the car. His hooves tore through the ancient metal exterior, yet Seth still managed to bounce up and reach the top of the ditch. However, only his muddy torso made it safely to the surface. He scrambled to get his hind legs up, but to no avail. He was slowly sliding back into the trap.

"Seth!" he did it, the buck had actually found something he could use, shen couldn't help but stand there and grin at him for a moment, proud of the green herlas cleverness in finding a way up..at least a temporary way. Gasping as he watched seth begin to slowly slip back down into the mud, the male unable to find a solid purchase on the ground as he was, not quite able to leap the full distance out.
Shen dashed over to seths side, sliding do his knees as he stretched himself forwards, "I'm gonna try and pull you up okay?" biting onto the nape of seths neck and pulling back, digging in with his hind legs as he tried to help his new friend get free of his muddy trap.

Flailing and thrashing, Seth struggled to keep his body above ground. Seth grunted in pain as Shen bit into him, but was thankful for the assistance as the extra force pulled him up completely. Seth sighed in relief, and he stumbled away from the hole to avoid another accident. Exhausted, the dirtied green buck collapsed in the shade of the nearest tree. "Thanks Shen..." "So much for Daisies, huh?" A wave a fear reappeared as he looked towards the darkening forest. "Is that thon-in..go... Thing gone?"

Shen stood there panting glaring at the hole as if he could blame it for having trapped seth. Ears perking slightly as he moved to stand guard over the flopped over buck. "Your welcome, heh I mean you'd do the same for me right?" he smiled softly looking over the messy buck. "Your covered in mud, its almost funny!" he giggled in response nodding to the others comment about daisys.
He had to give a wary look to the woods around them, unsure of what to say. "I..there was a crow, but I get the feeling that whatever spooked you is still around, lurking somewhere" shen said with a slight growl in his voice, leaning down to flick a piece of mud off of seths head. "We'll be okay though"

Lowering his head, Seth finally seemed to relax. "A crow, huh?" Just a harmless crow. But, Shen was right. That horrific creature may be lurking somewhere. "We should get moving just in case." Seth shook some mud from hims coat as he struggled to his hooves. Getting out of that ditch had worn him out more than he thought.
Maybe it was the dirt clouding his nose, or the darkening sky, but something was making him uneasy. "Let's just kmu'vki... Keep moving." He looked over his shoulder wearily before slowly trotting around the ditch, and into the forest.
