a horn... is by definition, in funk & wagnals standatd desk dictionary, is as follows :
definition 15A: Any of the various brass instruments, formerly made from animal horns, in the shape of a long coiled tube widening out into a bell at one endor 16.Informalany musical wind instrument...
i use the latter

Flaming_Ninja_Dragon a horn is any instrament you blow into. (i.e. snare drums are NOT horns) I do agree with my new friend here, A horn is any instrument you blow into. PERCUSSION IS NOT! and niether is a colorgaurd flag that my friend uses to kill me with

Inthenameofweird ... a horn is any wind instrument. Like, a bassoon can be a horn just as well as a trumpet or piccollo.

my old band teacher referred a horn to any instrument(cept for drums) but i say it's just any instrument you can blow into

Everything as far as I'm conserned. In marching band they say detal horns up! and everyone's instrument/flag goes up.

I'll say brasswinds, all instruments blown into are called winds, but brass have horns.

There is no right or wrong way to say it, but we use horns to refer to brass instruments in our band...if our BD says, Horns up, he usually means brass, and Winds up, meaning woodwinds. But then we may be odd, lol whee

well...in the band sense, I would consider horns to be any brass or woodwind instrument. But in the orchestral sense, it's more french horn.

Yeah. Horns are anything you play, but percussion and strings.

Actually the official name for french horn is horn..so sorry about that. Horn as in slang terms is any instrument that involves air neing put through it to produce a sound..an Aerophone i think is the proper term.

Words Of Wisdom From Bagel... A horn is any wind instrument. Sax, flute, clarinet, French horn, trumpet, tub, etc. Anything besides percussion. Now Go Forth And Share Them...

Number_09 Just for the sake of this comment/joke I'm gonna say it's a brasswind. The english horn is niether english NOR a horn... I think it's german. xd No, the english horn is french, the french horn is german
