Terrie looked at the boys. "Yes Toka, fighting is bad. But as long as you two just pretend fight, it's okay. No stabbing please, and don't hit too hard." She looked back at her mate. "Me? In ribbon? I don't know how to do my own hair though... I was lucky to do Mersi's." She muttered shyly.
Mersi yipped happily. "Pretty!" She swatted Honey with a squeak at Emris' poking hand. "Mommy a present too!" She said in agreement, tipping the ribbon box over to dump the contents out. "Pink!" She said as she grabbed a purple ribbon and held it out to Emris.

Blinking Emris looked over at the boys and nodded, "Yes, but please don't hurt each other." He added sternly with a long gaze. Looking back at Mersi, Emris smiled. "Umm...Mersi that's pur...." He trailed off and shook his head amused as he took the ribbon, "Okay."
Chuckling softly Emris gently took Terrie's hair into his hands and pulled it back, "No worries." He whispered feeling a bit sheepish as he braided Terrie's hair neatly and carefully tied the end with the ribbon as a bow. "There..." He smiled at Mersi while secretly looking at his two sons from the corner of his eye ready to intervene should something happen, "Anything else Mersi wants to ribbon up?"
Giggling softly Leif nodded at his mother and prepared to 'slash' at Tokala. "Toka, ready?" He asked mischievously before going in to poke at his brother's left side.

Terrie blushed as Emris tied her hair. She felt like she was getting gussied up to see a queen from a fairy tale. "Thank you." She said as she felt the braid with her hands. She openly watched her sons play, feelings mixing of worry and pride. She hoped they wouldn't grow to like actual fights, but Willow had said play fighting was a healthy sign of growth in boys.
Mersi nodded in approval. "Mommy pretty too." She cocked her head and stuck out her tongue as she thought. What else could they put the ribbons in? A smile beamed onto her face and she grabbed up two random colors. "Daddy!" She yipped happily, quickly scooting over and pouncing on Emris' fluffy tail and attempting to tie his fur.

“You’re welcome.” Emris replied sheepishly glad that Terrie hadn’t asked him how he had learned to braid. But before he could do much else Mersi took him by surprise, “Daddy?” He repeated in shock as his tail was pounced. “I don’t….I don’t think Daddy needs to be pretty.” He whispered to his daughter while looking to Terrie imploringly for help.
Yet somehow the feeling of doom overtook his as he looked at his innocent daughter’s face full of happiness. With a sigh he shook his head as he decided to humor her, “Have Mommy help then….” He chuckled adding a soft, “If you must.” before looking at Terrie with a shrug.
But his gaze flickered back over to the boys, as Emris was still secretly watching them with care.

Terrie couldn't see Emris' imploring look because she was too busy laughing. She nodded through the shakes and patted Emris' shoulder. "Her Mersi. Let me help before you get Daddy's fur in tangles." She took the ribbon and helped her tie little pony tails throughout the tail.
Mersi giggled when her father conceded to the ties. It was too late for one bow, having gotten itself into a small snag of fur, but she was happy to help her mom with the others. "Daddy a pretty present to!" Then she stuck out her tongue and tugged on the tangled ribbon and fur. "Whah happen? It be stuck."
((When I was little I'd put my bow clips into my dad's hair while he watched tv >_< His hair is about an inch long, if that!))

Tokala's ears perked as he listened and then glanced at Leif. He giggled lightly as he stuck out his tongue focusing as he readied himself, a bit exaggerated. The foxtaur giggled as he was poked as his sides were ticklish, and stepped back before moving to poke Leif back.

Giggling Leif fell on his face because his brother's 'attack' had made him lose balance. "Umph!" He cried before falling into a fit of laughter as he wobbled back onto his paws and prepared to strike again.
Silently hoping for some sort of redemption, Emris didn't dare even think about what was happening to his fur as the two females worked with the ribbons. Then Mersi tugged and Emris yelped, "Ouch!" He muttered looking back to his daughter, "Mersi don't pull okay?" He winced as he looked at their handiwork. 'Oh boy...'

Terrie winced a little seeing the fur yanked and picked Mersi up. "Yep. Daddy's a pretty present too now." She grinned and patted Emris' haunches. "I'll brush it out later for you." She whispered. "Well Mersi. Now that we're all prettied up, what will we do with ourselves?"
Mersi flicked her ears back. "Sowy Daddy." She started petting his tail in apology before squeaking as she was picked up. She put her finger up to her mouth as she thought, but hearing the boy's laughter made her turn. "Mersi play!" She yipped, wriggling to get down from Terrie's arms.

Toka giggled and swung his sword around a bit clumsily, but not hitting anything or anyone though his little fingers suddenly let go and it skittered to the side. His ears perked and scurried after it with a "Ooopsies ~" He giggled tail waving as he focused on not toppling over as he reached to pick it up.
The toddlers ears perked at his sisters voice and turned, sword dragging a bit.

"Aye, Aye." Replied Emris with a small smile at Terrie. Tiredly, the foxtaur took the small break from his daughter to lean back to watch everyone and to gain some rest at the same time. A soft chuckle came from his lips as he watched his family.
Leif giggled at his brother's clumsiness though he was being pretty unstable with his own 'weapon'. Waving his tail like a banner the young foxtaur charged forward towards his brother only to bang his sword against the floor instead. "Toka!" He laughed before his ears twitched at hearing Mersi's voice. "Mersi... play?" He repeated turning to look at his sister, "Eh?" Leif looked at her puzzled and held onto his sword trying to seem more like a warrior to his sister as he pondered over what she was thinking of doing, "How?"

Terrie groaned as Mersi started wiggling around. "All right, all right. Take it easy." She carefully dropped the squirming child and leaned back to lean against her mate and kiss his cheek.
Mersi, free from her mother's clutches, ran over to her brothers with her tail wagging. But when posed with the question "How," she paused and put her finger to her mouth. "I be audance!" She yipped happily, plopping down to the floor to watch her brothers with wide eyes, ready to cheer them on.

"Audance?" Repeated Leif with some confusion. What was the fun in that? But the child didn't question his sister and looked over to Tokala. "Whadda ya think?" He asked his brother while flicking his tail.
Lazily Emris moved his arm and wrapped it around Terrie's waist. Nuzzling his mate's neck, the foxtaur looked to the children before looking back to Terrie, "I hope that things were okay while I was gone." He murmured softly in her ear.

Tokala's ears flicked lightly as he stared at his sister, acting like a parrot, "Audance...?" He frowned lightly, confused why anyone would do that. He glanced Leif and gave a silly shrug and brought up his sword again grinning, "Ready ready?"

Laughing Leif nodded and charged at his brother. He brought his shaking sword up high and dramatically swung the wooden blade towards the tip of his brother's tail. "Yaaa!" He cried before missing his target by a bit. Frowning he swerved around and prepared to face his brother again.

Terrie nodded with a tired sigh and kissed Emris' cheek. "They're an energetic bunch, but they listen pretty well. The biggest thing was Mersi figuring out how to work the fire place while I was chasing after the boys while they were fighting outside over something. I still haven't found out what." She shook her head. "But anyway, how was the market? Find what you needed?"
Mersi giggled at her brother's collective confusion. Watching could be fun too! She had to learn how to make it fun, since she wasn't supposed to be wrestling. Well, at least according to the other girls her age. She watched, tail flicking, oohing and ahhing in the appropriate places.
