Yuri nodded, a grateful smile crossing his face. "Thank you," He said, bowing a little, before stepping into the vehicle. He waited for a moment, before turning to Nyrk, "Hey...sorry to be a bother again...But would you be able to pick up a quick snack?" he smiled, not really wanting to bother Nyrk.

Nyrk had pulled up into the gas station when Yuri had turnedto him, and asked for a snack. The conveniece store was just across from them, so it struck him as a little weird. "Yeah," Nyrk replied. "They'll have something there. This town doesn't look too dead yet."

Nyrk turned off the sedan, pocketing the keys, and put the fuel nozzle up to the tank before disappearing off into the convenience store. It was really dusty, but a cashier still stood behind the counter. Nyrk browsed the isles. Hopefully they had—they did! The cashier looked at Nyrk quizzically, then over the mound of cinnamon rolls Nyrk set upon the counter for purchace. "Is that all?" the cashier joked.

"No," Nyrk said, "I think I'll need some milk with that."

He left the store, a cinnamon roll already popped in his mouth. He pulled off the gas nozzle from the sedan, got inside, started it up, and offered Yuri a cinammon roll.

Yuri accepted the Cinnamon bun gratefully, carefully pulling it apart, popping small pieces into his mouth, and smiled as the flavor flooded his mouth. He looked out the window, still not used to the vehicles that the humans used. After about ten minutes of driving, he turned to his savior, and asked softly, "Where, exactly are we heading?"
PostPosted: Tue Feb 10, 2009 9:00 pm

Nyrk's eyes were fixed upon the road, almost unaware of all else, until Yuri's voice broke the monotony. "Hmm? Oh. I'm headed to New York. I hear it's really dangerous territory up there, though. S'f you want, I can drop you off anywhere between there 'nd here.

"'Less, of course, y're actually headed t'New York yourself." Pulled momentarily out of his daze, Nyrk took notice of his half-eaten cinnamon roll on the dashboard. He glued his eyes on the road, as if it were about to disappear, then quickly diverted his gaze to the cinnamon roll, reaching forth his right hand and devouring it almost instantaneously. He refocused on the road.

The last sign passed read 'You Are Now Leaving Virginia.' A few moments later, a welcoming sign to Maryland materialized over the horizon, then swept past. A few people could be seen with a rather insane expression, not all actually infected. Some of them, upon seeing Nyrk's sedan, sprinted for it. Nyrk lazily swapped lanes to avoid some, and lazily swapped lanes to hit others. Before given a chance to be questioned, he idly said, "You can see it in the way they run."

"They?" his voice held a question, before he realized, "Ah yes...I do feel a tad bit sorry for them..." he muttered sadly, watching as another one flew over the sedan. "So...I assume that would make you a hunter, am I correct?" He popped another bite of the bun into his mouth, chewing on it slowly. He was curious, as his turning had been more, smooth and instant. He had never seen what the hunter called "infected" vampires
PostPosted: Tue Feb 10, 2009 9:50 pm

"Hunter? ...Yes, that would be an accurate description, but to be perfectly accurate, I am what they call a 'Field Exorcist.'

"Most of the one's I'm hitting--like that one," Nyrk said, pointing at the rear-view mirror, "are going to get back up anyway. Vampires are more persistent than even some of them know. You can't just kill a vampire. Well, you can kill a vampire, but you can't just kill it. Y'either have to utterly oblitherate it, or give it a proper exorcism. Not much can take out a vampire like exorcism. A lot of people think the wooden stake and garlic is all y'need. It might be, but there've always been rumors that say, 'oh, that's wrong, it goes like this...' So I just... use the one constant power in the universe. God.

"Infected vampires? Well, you do make a point, some vampires are that way by 'nature,' but some are infected, born as humans then bitten. Both, however, have the power to infect, though the pureblood has proven more infectious. So I'm headed up t'ground zero. Clear up the purebloods. Should slow the infection rate down." Nyrk glanced at Yuri for an instant. Nyrk pointed just to the right of his nose, then to Yuri, to indicate a smear. Then he handed Yuri a paper towel.

"By the way, what are you coming out to the urban for, yourself?"

Yuri smiled, as Nyrk mentioned purebloods. "Well...I don't think all the purebloods are just in one area...That would make it too easy, wouldn't it?" Yuri looked at Nyrk, smiling a little. "And, I'm heading to the city, yes...I have some business to attend there myself."
PostPosted: Tue Feb 10, 2009 10:38 pm

Nyrk's eyes remained on the road. Barely an hour was left until they would arrive in the metropolitan. "Of course they're not all in one area, purebloods aren't stupid. That'd be lucky as hell 'f they were. Even still, most of the high-profile activity takes place in the metropolitan area. If there's any place I could go to make the biggest impact against the epidemic, ...y'get the idea. I can understand why y'don't want to say what you're doing. The metropolitan can be unkind to those it knows too much about. I'll ask no further."

From that point on, Nyrk spoke very little. He intentionally hid his lack of fangs, on the off chance he wa being watched. He was no longer running over anyone, and as they drew closer to New York, there were fewer insane vampires and more insane humans. Nyrk avoided both now. If he was going to make his mark on New York, he'd have to keep a low profile, considering he's going to be in it alone. He did consider, if only for a moment, asking Yuri's assistance. Yuri sounded interested to him, even well-versed in the pros and cons of hunting. But Yuri had confidential business, and from the sound of it, there didn't seem to be any room for compromise, so Nyrk dropped the notion entirely.

Coherency appeared, the familiar coherency of landscape that appears as one approaches the suburbs. The suburbs were hacked into barricades and broken buildings. Ahead of them, the once proud skyscrapers leaned amongst themselves like dying grass.

New York drew nearer.

Yuri grew silent as they approached the place he had recently called home. That was before the outbreak however, back when Yuri knew the vampires knew what they were doing. As of late, he wasn't so sure, and with this outbreak, he started wondering what had happened to the original way of turning. He shook his head, his thoughts leading him to his own turning, and he didn't enjoy that much.

(I hope you don't mind lol...I'm going to toss a few things in this story lol)

(You should know more about it than I do anyhow. No problem)

In a low voice, Nyrk said, "Well, this is where I'll get off. You can go ahead and take the sedan. It's not mine." With that, Nyrk stopped the car, opened the door, and left, leaving the car running for Yuri. He opened the trunk, taking out his bag, ammunition, and religious paraphernalia, then left on his way, promptly disappearing within the metropolitan.

And thus Nyrk set out on his new project.

Yuri sat there stunned for a moment, before moving over cautiously to the driver's seat. He was grateful he had been watching Nyrk a little bit, otherwise, he would have looked incredibly foolish. He positioned himself, and gently pressing on the gas. It began to move forward slowly, with Yuri beginning to get the hang of it. He didn't get far however, before a few vampires began to crowd around the Sedan.

Zoey spent the rest of the day looking for humans. She was Thirsty. Seeing a homeless human huddled in a street corner she made it her target. Launching herself at the human it was an easy target. She bit his neck and let the blood flow through her Filling her up.

Yuri sighed, looking around. "Well...this wasn't part of the plan..." He shook his head, looking at the vampires. They all looked to be sane, so he wondered if they would listen to reason, "Ok, before we start something that you would rather we didn't, I would just like to talk. I'm one of you, and I have pledged allegiance with the council...So let's not do anything rash..."

(Hey Zoey should be near Yuri lol...So we can get some interaction going)

Nicky walked down the street quietly looking around. Things were active around her as vampires were on the hunt or just chatting with their own kind. Her senses were up and awake. She placed her hands behind her and clasped them together. She hummed lightly as none of the happenings bothered her.

A few days had passed.

Nyrk, Field Exorcist, sat quietly by a desk, lit only by a light. It was the sort of light that existed in a place where none were to be trusted; it hid behind a cage to deter vandals. The light lit the plans on the desk, a map of New York. It lit Nyrk's plotting face and his finger, which made unspoken calculations and strategies as it soundlessly fluttered about the map, occasionally stopping to pick up a pencil by the desk and make a mark. Also lit, though only faintly as the light struggled to reach so much as Nyrk's nose, was the old, previously abandoned room Nyrk sat within. It was in level B2 of an old structure known as 'DetroTech.' DetroTech, however, hadn't been in business since the Pandemic, and now served only as Nyrk's bunker.

There he sat, paradoxically safe in the dark, so long as he was holed up here and the demons he plotted against were warring up there. The weak light flickered a little bit, then gathered enough energy to light a wall previously unlit. Upon that wall were maps, plans, the address of a local bakery, and guns. Lots of them. Enough to make a survivalist jealous.

Nyrk broke the monotony at last by yanking a thumbtack out of the table and pressing it upon an important spot on the map. He stood up, grabbed his weapons, and headed outside for his first job. Without pay? Yes and no. Nyrk may not have been given pay to do so, but that didn't matter. He was not doing this for pay. He was doing this for payback.
