Angsty Shem
I should note something else I find rather irksome, regardless of how insensitive it may come across. Honestly, concerning Jewish kids today:

If you did not personally experience the holocaust and Nazi persecution, you have no reason to be "cringing" at the yellow patch. You're not even close to having lived through that. Nor were most of your parents, likely. It was half a century ago, and if something from that long ago can honestly have that strong a psychological effect on you, you should seek counseling for it. Hypersensitivity like that comes across as nothing more than hollow, political playing of the persecution card.

In no way am I suggesting that people should forget about the holocaust, so don't bother twisting my words. I have no doubt that your reactions are sincere, don't take me wrong. I simply can't find them to be in any way rational or productive for the Jewish people as a whole.
Point taken .
And your example hit the spot, my parents aren't holocaust survivers , though my grandparnts are, and couple a very history consciences family with the reguler high school holocaust trip, and you start getting a bit choppy at the badge. xp
And while said 'cringing' might not be rational , doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Don't get me wrong, I'm don't want to take the star down , I'm just pointing out why it would, at least on the surfece, appear a bit tasteless to use it , even amongst Jews.

And you shouldn't worry about being blunt , that's part of your sexiness. whee

You shouldn't say that. I'm fourteen, and my dad is a holocaust survivor. He doesn't like to talk about it, though.

My grandfather's stories about Auchwitz, (sorry if I can't spell) from which he escaped have moved me. But I whole-heartedly agree with keeping the star, because it takes the power of hate away from the symbol and gives it to us.

Since I haven't put in my shpiel yet and naturally I must say something...
When I first joined this guild (which wasn't that long ago I guess...) I was a little off put by that yellow star patch on our front page. Was that really how I wanted to be identified, I thought?
Not one of my immeadiate relatives was in the Holocaust; I am a part of the third generation to be born in America on all sides of the family. However, it still got a reaction out of me. All of my life, that star has been a symbol of the Holocaust. The fear of it is almost engrained in us.
But I'm starting to see the other side of things. We need to have the strength to say, "Yes, this happened to us. But look at us now! We've survived it and look where we are now!" And the best way to show this strength is to display the very things that used to so terrify us. Therefore, I think Jyu made a good move using that Magen David as our image on the front page. Sure, you could easily find or make a less shocking Magen David, but would it have the same message?
