"Surfing?" Kaimi picked the cherry off the top of her ice cream and popped it into her mouth. "Thats really cool. I wish I knew how to surf, but I'm not a very good swimmer." She admitted. "By the time I was old enough to spend time at the beach this year it was too cold to get really good at swimming. But I'm learning how to fire-dance!" She added, perking up. "I'd like to visit your beach sometime."

"What's a fire dance?" It sounded dangerous, and dangerous was cool. That part of the appeal of surfing, as it were. That, and no one else could do it, so it made Leviathan pretty special. The teal-haired boy also had some strange affinity for the water, but he wasn't really sure he wanted to admit that. Not to people who hadn't seen his arms. (Maybe long sleeves and gloves were a good thing, after all.)
"You should come when I'm surfing. I taught other kids how, before. But you should probably get good at swimming first." Leviathan didn't want anyone drowning...well, not unless he actually drowned them himself.

"It's where you dance with a stick thats on fire on both ends." Kaimi said excitedly. "Or more than one stick. Or you can buy these long chains that have little ball-like things on the end and the balls light on fire so you can twirl them around." She grinned. "It's really pretty, but I'm not great at it yet. I'm just practicing with a regular staff right now, not one thats lit on fire." She was warming up to Levi, definitely. "I can come and practice swimming while you surf, and then maybe when I'm good enough you can teach me how to surf?" She suggested.

Oh god, that was cool! Leviathan bounced on his stool, long since forgetting about the pool of ice cream forming in the bottom of his dish. "Let's make a deal. I'll teach you how to surf, and swim, I guess, and you teach me how to dance, and then with the fireballs. Because that is mad awesome." And, it had something to do with the beach, and that was a total bonus, as far as Leviathan was concerned.
Kaimi was definitely going into the books as a friend. She was totally rad, even for a girl. (She boarded being as cool as Ophelia, and Ophelia already surfed!)

The floral smell surrounding Kaimi grew noticeably stronger and she nodded. "Definitely. It's a deal!" She held out her hand to shake. This was good. This was getting her mind off things. This was exactly why she'd escaped the house in the first place. "Once I'm good enough with the sticks, that is." She added. "Don't want to burn anything down. You have to have good balance to dance. I bet since you surf you'll be great at it."

Leviathan grabbed her hand and shook firmly, more than excited by the new prospect. It didn't really bother him it might be considered as girly, there was fire involved and fire was dangerous. "Well, I should just learn to dance before I try anything with fire. My dad would be really angry if I set anything on fire."
Leviathan nodded and grinned wider. "So, when should we meet?"

Glancing out the window at the still kind of snowy weather, Kaimi sighed a little. "Well, it wont be any good for swimming for a while yet. But we can dance any time." Grabbing a pen from the nearby cash register, she wrote her name and phone number on a napkin that was only minimally smudged with chocolate. "Call me? We'll find a good time."

"Alright!" Lev agreed, taking the napkin and folding it carefully before stuffing it in his pocket. "It was really nice to meet you, Kaimi." He hopped down off his stool and brushed off his clothing. It was probably time for him to head home, anyways. "I'll call you sometime soon, okay?"
Leviathan just couldn't wait to learn to fire dance!

"It was great meeting you too, Levi!" Kaimi responded, waving to him as he headed for the door. At least she seemed to still have a knack for making friends.
