Why me?!
Greloren sighed as he fished the key to his apartment out of his pocket. As he pulled the key out, his pocket went to vibrating, reminding him once again of the events that morning. "Gah!" He fumbled with the door, kicking it before it finally let him turn the key to unlock it.
He reached for the light switch with one hand while the other went to fishing the ring out of his pocket. The lights came on, which was a small miracle, and he quickly found the little switch on the toy, shutting it off. "Ugh." He made a face as he was forced to hold this toy... a sex toy from a secondhand shop!
The half-elf made as much as a beeline as was possible in his cluttered apartment for the kitchen, slamming open and shut doors to the cabinets. Finally, he found what he was looking for: a container of bleach. Some more fumbling with the sink and he got it stopped up and some bleach poured in.
With a sigh, he stuck the toy and his hands in to soak for a bit. "Crazy thing. Why do I feel like I have to keep it?" He asked Quill, who'd been watching this whole interesting ordeal from atop Greloren's head.
The little dragon chirped. Greloren frowned. "No, I'm not going to USE it. That'd be... ugh." He scrubbed his hands a couple of times, leaving the toy in the bleach for a while longer. "I'll just... let it soak..."
The man wound his way through the apartment to the couch and flopped upon the sagging piece of furniture. "That woman probably thinks I'm some weird freak..."
A chirp from Quill. "NO I don't like her! STOP IT QUILL!"
A rather apologetic cheep and then a questioning one. "No, the thing's not going to drown. Some bleach will be good. Kill any germs."
The little dragon glanced around the apartment. "Okay, okay, I get the point. But... someone USED that." Another chirp. "Well, okay, no I don't know for sure, but... they COULD HAVE used it!"
Quill fluttered off, leaving Greloren to sigh and turn red once again as he recalled that morning. "Ugh."
A faint splashing noise drew the man's attention and he wandered into the kitchen to find Quill with the ring now around its neck like some sort of weird necklace. "Quill." The man scolded, running some water to rinse off toy and dragon.
Chirping ensued as the little dragon got a quick bath, something it loved. Greloren chuckled. "Well, I suppose you wearing this wouldn't really hurt it any... But I'm not answering any questions about it!"
The little dragon gave a happy chirp and clutched the sex toy in its fore claws and flew off. Greloren spotted half of a slice of pizza lying near the top of one of the many trash/clothing piles. "Lunch~"

WHAT THE HELL?!
Greloren was sound asleep on the couch, having fallen asleep there instead of getting up and going to his room. His nice quiet home was interrupted by a sudden squawking noise from the spare bedroom, which Quill claimed as his own, usually. The loud squawking was followed by a louder shrieking sound that make Greloren jump. That was NOT Quill!
The half-elf stumbled through the apartment, tripping over the piles of stuff as he made his way to where the screaming and squawking was still going on. "Quill?" The man appeared in the doorway and a grey blur flew into his hair, hiding from something. Greloren reached a hand up to soothe the little dragon, but his eyes caught something.
"What the-?" Greloren was staring at a small, naked boy. The kid was black and covered in... bumps? What the, indeed! At least the boy had stopped screaming when Greloren had showed up. Now he was frantically looking for a place to hide.
The man glanced towards the floor, where the sex toy had fallen. It seemed duller in color. Ignoring the kid for the moment, he picked it up and pressed the button. Nothing. Greloren glanced back over at the boy, who'd scooted backwards when the half-elf had bent over to pick up the ring.
The kid had found a blanket in one of the piles near him, mostly clean except for one corner that had something sticky on it. But the blanket was soft and the kid rubbed it for a moment before throwing it over his head to hide from these scary things.
"Okay.... this is NOT normal!" Grabbing the kid's hand (and earning a startled yelp from the kid), Greloren headed for the door, Quill still hiding in his hair. "Let's see what is up with this!" He was going to find that blue-haired woman and... Wait...
The man stopped at the door, apparently having a internal debate. He didn't want to go back... she'd seen him pick up a sex toy after all! But... No, he was going to take this kid back and THEN never go back again! "Okay, kid, let's go."
Another yelp as he was tugged forward and the boy stumbled along behind Greloren. The pair headed back towards the shop. It was only luck that it was getting late and not many people were out and about, for the poor boy had no clothes on and Greloren didn't seem to notice.

F is for "******** this"
Greloren sighed and looked over his paper to where Ryan was standing, staring at him again. The boy had been doing that a lot lately and he was getting tired of it. First he'd been stuck with this brat and then he'd had to go buy clothes and a bed for the kid... plus a chest of drawers. Then he'd had to convince Quill to let the kid have the other bedroom, plus move the junk around enough to make room for the furniture and kid.
Then Ryan had had nightmares for some time and had shrieked each time a rat ran through the room he was in. Finally, things had started to calm down and now the kid was just staring at him.
"What?!" Greloren finally snapped, causing Ryan to jump and the kid's lower lip quivered. Oh great. He'd made the kid cry again. The half-elf groaned and put the paper down. "Sorry, Ryan. But staring at people like that isn't nice."
"It's not?" The kid was always filled with questions. It got old after a bit...
"No, it's not. Why were you staring at me?"
"Wasn't. Was looking at the paper with the funny things on it. You always look at it."
"I don't 'look' at it, Ryan. I'm reading it."
The boy pondered that for a moment. "Oh." A few more moments of silence and then, "What's reading?"
Greloren groaned and facepalmed. Great. The kid didn't know how to read. He supposed that meant that he was supposed to teach him. How?! This wasn't going to be easy...
---
An hour later, the two males were sitting together on the couch, the newspaper discarded for a box of crayons and some sheets of plain paper. All stuff Greloren had bought for Ryan at the boy's insistence at wanting to color. Now it was handy.
"Okay, so there are letters. The first one is A."
"Why is it first?" The boy asked, watching his guardian write the letter down.
"Because... because it's first in the song."
"What song?"
Greloren groaned. "Kid... I gotta get you watching Sesame Street..." Ryan just stared blankly back at the man. "Okay, listen. I'll teach you the song..."
Ryan grinned. "I like singing!"
The half-elf sighed. He didn't really want to sing it... but he'd better so that Ryan knew the tune as well. So he suffered through it once.
"Again!"
Greloren groaned. Joy... now the kid would want him singing all of the time. What had he just started. Sighing, he sang it again. And again, and again, and again... Finally, he made the kid sing it himself, correcting and helping Ryan out.
Ryan grinned as he finally made it through the song. "So now I can read?"
The half-elf shook his head. "No... you just know the letters now. So now we need to know what the letters look like. 'A' can look like this," and he drew the capital form of the letter. "Or this," he drew the lowercase form next to the capital.
"Both are A?"
Greloren nodded. "Each letter has a capital form and a lowercase form."
Ryan sighed. This was getting confusing and fast...

Dear Diary: Update
Ugh, I finally got some time to sit down and write. Things have been... crazy around here. I think Ryan is finally warming up to Nadia. He at least doesn't run in terror. That's progress, right? I'm still upset with Quill, especially since most of the raising of this new kid has ended up being my responsibility. That pesky, fat little dragon just plays with her mostly.
Ryan's mad about that. Quill used to be his little buddy and now, the little dragon will hardly look at Ryan. Poor kid. I've been trying to be there for him more, instead.
We finally got the room set up for the kids now. Mainly, we shoved the junk on the other side of the room into the middle, making a pretty good-sized wall to separate it into two little rooms. Ryan has his own side and Nadia has hers. They... probably should have their own rooms eventually. Ugh, that means moving.
Have I mentioned that I'm not happy with Quill over all this? At least the little dragon could find a way to get some money to help provide for this new mouth to feed...

Meta 1 Prompt Response
Your Curio is playing one day, minding his or her own business, when suddenly - something happens! It seems that your little one has developed a magical talent! What kind of power do they discover that they have, and how to they react to it?
Things were finally settling down after the addition of Nadia to the family. Ryan was in the living room, playing with a moldy pizza crust and some old newspapers. Greloren frowned as he noticed and made a mental note to get that kid a real toy. Heck, he'd do that now. Nadia had gotten new stuff, mainly a bed since she'd needed one, but Ryan hadn't gotten anything. The kid probably felt left out because of it.
"Hey Ryan. Let's go to the toy store."
The boy perked up. "Really? Can... can I get a toy?"
The half-elf facepalmed. Ryan really needed to get more attention. "Of course! I'll let you pick out one toy."
"YAY!" The boy jumped up, running to hug Greloren.
Greloren blinked as a rather odd sensation came over him. Not one that he was unfamiliar with... but one that was completely inappropriate for this moment! He was hugging a young boy for crying out loud!!! Greloren coughed. "Go get your coat on. I have to... uh, potty first."
As the little bumpy boy ran off to grab his coat and shoes, the half-elf muttered several swear words under his breath. He. Was. NOT. Gay! Nor a ***** man chalked it up to one of those random things that happens on occasions, managing to get it under control and back to normal before Ryan reappeared, ready to go toy shopping.
The trip to the toy store was rather uneventful, thankfully for Greloren. As soon as they walked into the toy store, though, things went downhill. Ryan looked like a kid in a candy store and was running happily from one section of the store to the next. Meanwhile, Greloren noticed that several of the men that the boy passed suddenly got a bit uncomfortable. While the half-elf didn't really want to, he found himself noticing that others were getting... "excited".
It took about twenty minutes and a large number of suddenly uncomfortable men before Greloren made the connection. "Ah hell..." he muttered. It seemed Ryan had picked up on one of his... item's more... interesting abilities. He was going to kill that blue haired crazy woman!
One good thing about it all was that Ryan was completely oblivious to the whole thing. At least for now. The poor kid would have to have this explained to him eventually... And Greloren was going to look into a different selection of underwear in the meantime!
Finally, Ryan had his toy all picked out and they were checking out (with a female cashier! Greloren had noticed they seemed unaffected) and heading back home, the half-elf trying to hide his growing excitement from Ryan and others. He was definitely getting new underwear...

Growth Prompt
Greloren and Ryan have been through quite a bit since coming to life! Ryan is still learning about the world, and Greloren is still learning about being a parent. There has been quite a bit of progress on both sides! Now that their little family has expanded by one, Ryan is put into a difficult position; should he, or rather could he, be the brave Big Brother to Nadia, like the Big Brothers he sees on TV? Would he try to teach her something that he already knows? Better yet, would he willingly go to Nadia with this, or would she have to approach him? If she had to approach him, would he help her out, if he could? Write about an instance where Ryan had the option of playing the Big Brother, and what he does in response.

Ryan's Growth Prompt Response
It was a quiet day. Greloren was half asleep on the couch, idly flipping through a week old newspaper while Quill slept curled up on the half-elf's stomach. Meanwhile, the two children of the household were playing very nicely in their shared room. Nadia was digging about in the piles of junk heaped up as a sort of wall to split the room into halves for the two kids while Ryan played with his new teddy bear on his bed.
Unbeknownst to the bumpy boy, Ryan was humming a rather familiar tune as he played. The catchy tune caught his sister's attention and the dragon girl straightened up for a moment to listen to it. With a smile, she started to dance about, an empty cardboard box perched upon her head like an odd hat. When the music stopped, Nadia's face fell and she rushed over to Ryan's side of the room. "Nonono! More music! Make more! MORE!"
The poor bumpy boy jumped, startled by his sister's sudden appearance and her demands for more of... something. "H-huh?" He clutched the teddy bear close to his chest, wanting to hide under his blankie from his crazy sister. She had a box on her head, after all!
Nadia ground to a halt, frowning. "I sorry Ryan..." She didn't like scaring her big brother and hadn't meant to. "But... music stopped. I likes."
"Music?"
The dragon girl nodded. "Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm~" She hummed part of the song, as much as she could remember of it.
"Oh." Ryan realized he must've been humming and it was one of his favorite songs. (Mainly because his daddy had taught him it!) "It helps you learn to read," he helpfully supplied to Nadia, which of course confused the girl.
"Teach me? Please? Plllllease?"
"Uh... okay?" Ryan wasn't overly thrilled, but Nadia bounced happily as he agreed to teach her the nice dancing song.
"Aaaa.. b-bee... cee... d-dee... e-eee..." Ryan's start was a bit shaky, but as Nadia started dancing, he got caught up in singing the song and it went much better. When he reached the end, he started over, wiggling about a bit on his bed as he watched Nadia dance about. She looked like she was having fun.
"You sing too!" The boy told his sister as he reached the end of the song for the third time. Starting it up again, he listened as Nadia slowly sang with him, her letters coming just after Ryan's.
When Greloren found the two later, both were dancing about, singing their ABCs. Which... made the man wonder what was in whatever he had fed them for lunch. Whatever it was.... he was a bit scared.

Bigger now!
It was morning and one little bumpy boy was stumbling his way across his room. He'd been woken up by an urgent need to use the bathroom. Rubbing at his eyes, the boy nearly tripped over multiple piles in the floor, slowly feeling his way along the path that led out of his room, down the hallway, and to the bathroom. The bathroom door was closed, but no light shone from under the door. Yawning, Ryan reached up instinctively, reaching for the doorknob with both hands.
The boy blinked, puzzled, as his hands did not encounter a doorknob. In fact, they found nothing but the door itself. Forcing his eyes to focus, Ryan stared straight ahead and nearly jumped out of his skin as a blurry brass-colored ball was just in front of his eyes. "Ahhh!"
He fell over onto his butt before he realized that the thing right in front of his eyes had been the doorknob. Wait. The doorknob?! The doorknob wasn't ever in his face. When did it get lower??
Ryan's startled shout had woken Greloren and the half-elf appeared in the hallway to see what was going on. "Wha-" The man paused as he spotted a larger form than he was used to seeing in his house. The light was rather poor, so he fumbled about to find the light switch on the wall. Finally he found it and flicked it to the on position.... only to have nothing happen. Cursing under his breath, the half-elf realized he'd once again forgotten to pay the electric bill.
Quill chirped, flying past Greloren to land on Ryan's head. He gave a bit of a startled squawk, causing Greloren to go hunt down a flashlight.
Ryan reached up to pet Quill while his guardian hunted around for a light source. Finally, a flicker of light appeared and Greloren returned to the hallway, the beam of light falling upon Ryan. The boy glanced down, noticing now that his pants legs were a bit short...
"Ryan... you grew!" Greloren was a bit startled. This was his first encounter of a rapid growth rate that seemed rather prevalent upon Gaia. He knelt beside the now larger boy, still in a bit of awe.
The bumpy boy looked down at his now larger body, curious. Huh... well, that was odd. He didn't feel bigger... Greloren scooped him up into a hug, which Ryan was happy to return. The pair remained like that for a moment before Ryan spoke up.
"Daddy...?"
"Yes?"
"... I have to go potty."
"... Oh." Greloren released the boy, handing over the flashlight.

Dear Diary: Update
Just as things finally started to settle down... they had to go all crazy again! First thing, some crazy smoke creature appears at our house and makes me and Ryan go to the shop where I got Ryan's item. So we go and I have to go take some item and give it a home. I ended up at some library. The librarian was a total b***h and so I ended up giving it to some other lady who worked there. She seemed a little nicer, at least...
Then, just after that, Ryan grew! I woke up one morning to find him in the hallway, trying to adjust to his bigger body. (I'd also forgotten to pay the electric bill again... had to run in and do that so the power'd come back on.) Kids on Gaia and their odd growing patterns.
Then.... just today... Delucca stopped by. She pops in from time to time to cook and help me take care of Ryan and Nadia (and Quill, too). And... what does she tell me? That she WILLINGLY went to the shop Ryan's item came from and got something that would turn into a kid too. And do you know what it was? LUBRICANT!! Now that crazy woman at the shop will really think I'm odd! I mean, I have a sex toy kid and my girlfriend will have a lube kid.
... I don't know when things will ever be normal again.
