If she thought Kawani humans were wierd, she should have seen the humans that had surrounded Azzinoth! Wierd quirks were one thing that he could certainly relate to. That being said he had always held a great deal of fondness for them and their serene nature. They were not violent creatures and lived out their own days in quiet reverie. Whether they were meditating by his side or playing their bizarre instruments, they were a joy to have around and he appeared to bring them equal entertainment. One of the elders in particular had often favoured him and seemed to find tending to his mane to be therapeutic.
"I would not ask, if I did not," he reassured her quietly. Low and behold he didn't regret it either. Whatever phantasm he had managed to conjure up in his dream this evening was truly radiant. An angel quite unlike any creature he had depicted before. She claimed she could not sing and yet it was evident she could, the soft lilt as entrancing as the peaceful expression that lined her youthful features. They had always said that if one placed their heart into their work then it could be felt by others and it was true.
...It resonated.
Azzinoth was content to remain quiet as she gave him what he desired most and permitted his own eyes to close somewhat. A short reverie of his own, a time to savour this moment. He would recall it in due course and perhaps some day he would be happy to echo such a performance in a hum of his own. Needless to say he was content and delighted with the delicate display... The birds would surely be proud of the mare who had chosen to grace the lands with her song until they awoke. He certainly approved.
Still it was impossible for the male to be put to sleep twice and he soon opened his eyes again, regarding the mare quietly for a while before lifting his gaze back towards the sky. It wasn't the most clear of nights, and the view of the stars was limited but he had no complaints.

She was aware of this one two-legger that had this teepee some of her father's friends stayed in. She seemed... nice enough but Amorette had never spoken to her. Regardless, Amorette didn't realize her potential with her singing and all she knew was that she loved it.
Opening her eyes, Amorette smiled happily after she had finished. "Sorry, I got a little carried away." She couldn't help it; sometimes when she was sure she was alone, she would pick up a tune and twirl and dance around a clearing. It was her sanctuary and kept her sane.
She had noticed him looking up at the sky and she turned her gaze up there too. The stars were barely noticeable but they were there. They mostly were the reason why she liked going out at night so much because her mother had pass down starlike markings to Amorette.
Part of the mare's mane fell into her eyes and Amorette blew at the strands to get them out of the way. She liked to do things the difficult way but that doesn't mean she didn't have fun with it. Amorette really didn't meet too many people at this time of night and Azzinoth really had to top that list of interesting soquili. Because it's not every day that she would let some stranger listen to her song.

Azzinoth had always preferred to patrol at night as he had been 'made' to do so. The glow in his eyes, the shimmer of the kanji upon his rump and the ethereal tendrils that caressed at his forelegs lit the way ahead. He was a true phantasm - wandering across the vast expanse towards the 'unknown'. Those who saw the darkened pelt often avoided the guardian but this was not something he was adverse to, when awake he rather enjoyed this life of solitude and embraced any opportunity to be permitted towards his own musings.
Still he was terribly fond of his humans at home and frankly, she had pointed out one of the very reasons he deeply appreciated them. While her hair tumbled across her eyes he had never been subject to this problem. His hair had been attended to with such care and precision that it would take a hurricane to unsettle the tight binds that held it in place. Regardless of how delicate and elaborate his style might have appeared, it had been formed in much the same fashion as a Geishas - frankly it wasn't coming out anytime soon and would take about fifty washes to get it flexible enough to play with again!
Nevertheless, her snorting at her own hair did cause him to chuckle softly. She almost seemed to go cross eyed as she attempted to remove it from her side. Sniff after sniff, the majority of the strands would not be moving any time soon and she was certainly making things more difficult for herself. A simple toss of the head would have flicked them a greater distance but perhaps that would have been unbecoming as one so dainty as herself.
"Now who is apologising when it is unnecessary?" he enquired calmly, leaning in to flick the rest of the strands away from her eyes with his horn before she became dizzy. It was a quick movement and no sooner had he leant in than he had withdrawn again with a soft snort. "You sing very beautifully, why you choose to hide such talent from the world is beyond my understanding..."
"Hanikamiya... You are shy, no?"

Amorette stood out in the darkness but the moon always enveloped her in a beautiful aura of light. And even on the dark days, she always stood out against the darkness. She liked to think that she didn't fear anything but that was far from true... Shaking the thought of her mind, Amorette didn't like thinking of what she was afraid of but sometimes, she couldn't help it.
She had noticed Azzinoth's impressive mane. She had come from a line of great, enormous, physics defying hair so it didn't really shock her. It was pretty though, she had to admit.
The mare continued to attempt to blow the hair away from her face to no avail until Azzinoth intervened. She was focusing so much on her mane, Amorette didn't even notice the stallion's horn until it was right in front of her. Giggling, Amorette liked to play around, take her time. Her hair would have eventually moved if she kept at it.... or so she thought. She looked towards the ground as she answered his question. "I don't choose to hide it. But I'm not going to flaunt it either. My singing is something for other soquili to enjoy but it's nice to do something for yourself..."
She looked up and tilted her head slightly in curiosity. "What do you mean?"

His appearance hadn't really been 'designed' to be pretty or impressive, on the contrary as a guardian 'beast' of the shrines of the east - the humans had made certain he looked as imposing as possible. For all intents and purposes his hair had been clasped so firmly to avoid it getting into his eyes. He was a tidy creature and one who sought only to remain comfortable, whisps of hair would probably have sent him into a rather disgruntled mood given that he was exceptionally ticklish around his nose as it was. Still he wasn't adverse to compliments and would accept them with the grace that was expected of him from any individual. It seemed that when it came to etiquette there were certain things that were universal - compliments and accepting them with modest gratitude was one of them.
Nevertheless as a tidy creature there were certain things he couldn't help but do. Call them reflexes or otherwise, the soquili couldn't resist the urge to help another if something was out of place. He had let her snort and blow at her hair for a considerable length of time and then, his body had simply moved by itself... Evidently it had irked him after a suitable amount of time. He wouldn't have denied that her performance was adorable and worthy of a smile but he couldn't have watched it all day. Well...perhaps in his dreams he could have but even as his true self dozed there were certain quirks his subconcious couldn't surpress.
OCD-ish neat freak being one of those.
"How can another soquili enjoy it if they do not realise you possess the talent in the first place?" he enquired softly. Arching his neck, he waited for the silent 'clunk' of his joints and then relaxed once more. "There is a difference between flaunting your talents and gracing the world with them," he continued before furrowing his brow at her question. It took him a few moments to back track through the conversation to what he may have confused her with. Needless to say, as his native tongue flashed into his head it became apparent - that's where she'd gotten lost.
"You seem shy, unprepared to grace the world with your talents because you desire not to be judged," he explained. It sounded oddly familiar, de-ja-vu like in fact, ironically it was exactly like he was but his subconcious would be loathe to admit that. "You rely on the fates - should they decide that another shall hear your humming or soft song, then they must pursue you to hear more."
"It...seems like a bit of a waste to me."

Amorette was really carefree about everything and tried not to let things bother her. That was definitely a little Zalifur in her because he didn't care... about anything. Heh. She couldn't do exactly that but she tried not to worry about too may things. She has learned how that really didn't benefit her and only stressed her out even more.
"Well..." Amorette contemplated a reply to his questions but she couldn't really answer them. "I just don't know how to go about and do that. But I don't think that makes me shy." She giggled and pouted jokingly as she continued to think about why she didn't really like sharing her singing talent with everybody. "It's not a big deal... There's no reason to bring up something like that." Shrugging, Amorette didn't think it was something very important when conversing even though she did mention she liked singing. Nobody ever asked to hear a sample.
"Judged?" Looking at him skeptically, the mare wasn't sure how to respond to that. "I don't know about that but you can think of it that if you wish." Honestly, Amorette didn't know what to say about any of this. It's not like she thought about this subject frequently. "Uh. Perhaps." A waste? not to share her song with the world? Amorette was at a loss for words and she looked down to the ground instinctively unsure of herself.

Azzinoth was both a Doctor and a Guardian, while his occupations remained a mystery throughout the periods he sleptwalk his training and instincts were not blurred. He could sense certain things within an individual and could read others like a book. Particular soquili regarded such abilities with hostility but others were generally bemused by it. Her shyness had not gone unnoticed to an extent and while it was not severe to the point that she hid from the world there were aspects of her that remained unseen. For example, she may have claimed she liked to sing but she made no measure to be caught in the act - most times, anyway.
Still he could recognise the logic in her rebuttal in the sense that there were those in the world who would not request to hear her. The majority of the time an individual would only intrude upon another's talents if they had heard a tidbit of it prior to making themselves known company. It had gone in much the same way with Azzinoth, what had started as a hum had been developed into a song though many might argue he was rather forward in his behaviour.
"Someone who is shy, does not stare at the ground," he pointed out gently and used his tail to push her nose up again so that her eyes were level with his own. "Perhaps you are not as forward as I am," he chuckled and coiled his tail around his leg once more. He had a terrible habit of doing such a thing when he was stationary, coiling and uncoiling his tail against his leg. "But with a voice like that I would be more than happy to say -" he cleared his throat and hesitated briefly as though pondering over what he would say.
"Hello, my name is Azzinoth and I simply love to sing!" he paused again for impact and then leant in to nudge her nose lightly, it was with a wink that he continued. "Care to hear a little piece I've been working on?" With the devilish smile on his lips he withdrew and prmptly tapped his own nose with his tail.
"See what I mean?"

Amorette was at a loss for words and nobody had questioned her about this before. She had been brought up to be quiet and not to be a nuisance. It was clear that it was all her father that had raised her but she didn't dislike Zalifur for his lack of... concern for his offspring. The mare understood what Azzinoth was talking about but she really didn't think she was that shy. She might have been soft spoken but not really shy; it's not like she tried to hide from the world. Though, this conversation was amusing her.
She felt his tail move her head up and felt her eyes lock with his. Amorette felt the urge to look away but she couldn't bring herself to. Watching him intently, she listened to what he would have said if he could sing. Then she started laughing as he greeted her in this new persona. Nodding, Amorette smiled widely at him and couldn't help but giggle a little more. "Yeah, understandable. But... not quite me." She nodded once more knowing that she could never truly be like that but at least he was making sense.
"It's all very entertaining but could you actually imagine me like that?" She questioned him curiously because she definitely couldn't imagine herself like that. But somehow, Amorette continued to smile at him; she couldn't help but be happy for some reason.

"I barely know you," Azzinoth pointed out wisely, his nod a sage one as he returned his tail to it's original position. It coiled loosely around his hind leg and very gently pressed around the fluffy of his hoof. Needless to say, such a routine often stopped him from fidgeting (even while awake) and as a consequence the motion had long since become a habit even if others found it worthy of a giggle or a raised brow. Nevertheless he was comfortable as he was and with a soft sigh he tilted his head to one side and pursed his lips in thought for a few moments.
"Therefore it is not hard for me to see you as something else," he continued after a few moments. A smile appeared on his lips and he straightened his head again, turning it to look away. Perhaps it was his attempt to give her a slight 'break' - she seemed somewhat uncomfortable with eye contact and to force it upon her wasn't very gentlemanly. That being said his decision to look away could have been taken as no more than a moment when any individual diverted their gaze to 'consider' something. It was rare that creatures maintained eye contact when they were thinking or attempting to remember certain facts.
"It is not unhealthy or wrong to pretend to be something else once in a while, it sometimes opens up more doors," he chuckled softly. He had no idea of the irony behind his own words but often, if a shy creature had just a little courage for one outburst then it was enough. She may not have thought herself as the type to leap in and offer up her abilities for entertainment purposes but it wouldn't have hurt to give it a shot, nyah?
"One little ounce of enthuasiasm is infectious and it is far easier to connect with others when you provide such an invitation, you know?"

"Again, very true." Amorette observed his body language and she found it amusing how he could barely keep still. Smiling softly, she returned her attention to what he was saying. That would be interesting.... to try and be a different person. She contemplated the thought silently wondering what it would be like if she were outgoing and talkative.
Thinking about that, the mare couldn't help but giggle out loud. "Whoops. Heh. It's funny to think if I had a different personality. But not completely implausible." She looked up at him with a childish grin.
Nodding rapidly, Amorette knew that things would probably be much easier if she was more outgoing. "Though, sometimes I don't know if I would enjoy that though. I like my privacy a lot of the times but I would like to meet more soquili. I guess it's a matter of balancing it out, when I feel like being social and not." She found it rather strange to be talking about a semi-serious subject like this with a complete strange. But it didn't seem like this stallion was too dangerous at the moment so Amorette felt somewhat comfortable for once.

"Mmmm," he mused. The mare was somewhat contradictory on occasions and it caused issues. The Kawani was a foreign tongue for him and even in sleep, even when he was sociable, he didn't necessarily understand it. His expression clouded briefly as he mused over her words and it wasn't long before he came to the conclusion that she was in fact a little insecure. This was normal of course, the shy types always were a little insecure at the prospect of a few seconds in the limelight but it was healthy to demand at least a little attention. Suffice to say her final remarks regarding balance were perhaps the most accurate thing she had said to date - it was all about balance and eventually she would have to find that. That being said she was significantly younger than him and logic stated to him that as a youth it was her place in the world to be a little uncertain about most things.
...It would be rude to push her into something she didn't want.
"Being sociable does not mean you lose your privacy," he murmured slowly. His words were guarded, not entirely certain of how to phrase what he wanted to say without being completely misunderstood. His culture was much different from hers and consequently, there were certain things he could and couldn't say. "It merely infers that you converse with others as opposed to waiting for them to bump in to you. You wish to meet more soquili and I think..." he paused and shook his head. His tail tightened around his leg and he dredged up the last of what he wanted to say, he was never going to be very eloquent in this language - he'd known that since the day he learnt he couldn't pronounce his 'v' and 'l' very well.
"I think that your singing could bridge the gap, a talking point and a way to introduce yourself without relying on uh...general chit chat like the weather and the grass," he finished. He had been totally deadpan in this observation, but he had touched on the fundamentals of most introductory meetings. For some reason, everyone in these lands seemed to talk about food and the weather...it baffled him.

Amorette was like that. She was young and naive but she couldn't help that. There were a lot of things that she knew about her personality but she didn't mind it so much. Her knowledge of the world was lacking and her comprehension of certain aspects of soquili personality. What he was saying made sense but she couldn't completely comprehend it.
She nodded as he spoke and she was beginning to understand it better. "Yeah, I guess. I think I'll try it sometimes and see if it works." Pausing, she looked up at him and nodded in agreement again. "It would make it easier on me to meet people right? Then I wouldn't have to worry about being shy." Her smile turned into a grin as her mind wandered slightly to a different subject. She refocused after a few seconds and returned her attention to Azzinoth. That happened frequently to her but that didn't mean she was bored.
Amorette had enjoyed their conversation and he did open up her eyes to certain things. If only all of her interactions turned out like this.

Another pause, another few moments to come to terms with her meaning. He simply didn't spend enough time in these regions to grasp the meaning behind their words sometimes. Blunt language and a lack of tact worked better for him as a foreigner, he missed their meaning when they were subtle. That being said it seemed he had gotten through to the mare to an extent andd he gave a somewhat stiff nod. He didn't reveal his uncertainty towards what she had said as this would cause mixed messages but he did come to the conclusion that he would have been asking far too much of one so young if he had pushed her further. Alas he could be satisfied that he had given her something to think about at the very least and perhaps in time he wouldn't be the only one to be graced by her voice.
"Having a more unique subject to talk about," he began, breaking the silence that he had slotted snuggly into. "Will make you far more engaging to another than conversing about the weather or what you had for breakfast. When it comes to meeting new people..." he tilted his head to the side and released a soft sigh. "It is fine to speak about the mundane if you seek nothing more than a brief encounter. However if you desired to be their friend a more unique and impressive subject will keep their interest piqued." He thought he'd expressed himself properly with that and pursed his lips, allowing time for the words to sink in.
"There is nothing wrong with being demure of course," he added after he had finally remembered the word he was looking for. It rolled smoothly off his tongue and brought a smile to his lips, one that soon became impish as he continued along his train of thought. Oh, it wasn't that he was a pervert or anything close to such a thing but when he was in a dream he could afford to be more reckless and flirtacious - in a dream he couldn't get hurt. "In fact the majority of stallions find it incredibly attractive, an appealing and enigmatic quality in a female that encourages them to get to know her better... To chase her for as long as necessary."
"It is all about balance, as you can see."

Amorette was clearly young and unknowing of the world. There were things she had to do and she knew that she couldn't do it cooped up in the same area. She liked to think about exploring new regions but for some reason, she always stopped herself before taking any action. She had never met someone quite like Azzinoth... He was wise. Maybe she could learn a thing or two from him.
"Very true. I haven't met too many soquili but the ones I have met did bring up the weather or something with no substance. But that could be my fault." Shrugging, Amorette better understood what Azzinoth was saying. "Yeah, I understand now. I could try and be more engaging and I would probably have stimulated more interesting conversation."
Pausing, Amorette nodded as she thought about what she had just said. Tilting her head, she looked at him curiously. "That's interesting but I'm not really familiar with stallions and their behavior." Giggling, she didn't even realize Azzinoth was being a little flirtatious and she just assumed he was making a statement.

"Mmmm," Azzinoth's smile deepened a little at her giggle and he shook his head. While certain stallions would have been mildly put out by her response and apparent immunity to their charms it rolled like water off a duck's back for him. Demure mares, naive mares and exceptionally innocent mares were not a foreign concept to him. The culture in which he lived was renowned for it and the sheltered lives of females was seen as a blessing rather than a curse. Their innocence and willingness to take what the more worldly men said generally made them ideal brides. It was all politics, it was all business and as a consequence Azzinoth didn't so much take her 'rejection' as an afront as something that was totally normal. All that it meant was that she was pure!
"Well then, consider it both an introduction and a warning," he offered after a few moments of consideration. His smile still remained on his lips but his tone was a little more grim. There would be some in the world that would harm her, bad males that didn't understand the meaning of the word 'No' and there would be others that respected her. Admittedly even in his dreams grim events could occur but he took measures to ensure they didn't - suffice to say if she found herself in trouble he was guaranteed to save the day anyway...because that's how dreams went. It was when of those rare moments when he could be heroic without batting an eye or developing a stutter. "We can be particularly insistant," he continued and shook his head. "It can be both a compliment and a little exasperating - if you feel uncomfortable you would be wise to give them a quick kick to the chest, yes?"
Casting this topic aside he moved back to more pleasant waters though.
"I will not deny that your somewhat dry conversations would partially be your fault but at the same time, they are unavoidable..." He chuckled softly at this and canted his head to the side, his mane brushing lightly against the contours of his neck. "After all, it is impossible to hold an invigorating conversation with only limited experience of the world - to hold a truly wonderful meeting one must have a great many tales to tell!" He nodded curtly at this, his expression relaxing as he dwelled on his own words. Really, he had travelled far more in the last few years than he had done in his younger life. He'd never envisioned that he would be helping others so far away from home.
"The more you see, the more intriguing you are to others. You have great beauty and a wonderful voice, but think of how much more you have to see. No other debutante would be capable of competing with you if you found it within yourself to see the world."
