Dew sat down, glad to not be standing, although she wouldn't tell anyone that. She wasn't quite sure what Fathom had meant by 'fix that mat of short hair', but she was willing to take the risk, after all, she was bored a good amount of the time. Turning into her typical chatterbox self, Dew began to recount everything she could remember happening, which oddly, wasn't much. "But I want to get you something. Friends get friends things. Its nice. Besides, it's fun finding something that other elves haven't seen. Like I showed Savith these pretty blue and purple flowers that he had never seen before because they only bloom at night, and he's not a nght person. And this cave is new to me. I like sleeping in trees better. I can't wait to go outside to sleep tonight or tomorrow. I'm not sure if I can sleep outside tonight. Because last time tehr ains topped it started up again. And I missed it. I slept through it, well most of it. I've been sleeping a lot. And there wasn't much to do. I found this tunnel when I was looking around the cave and I talked with Autumn a lot. She's a wolfrider too who can shape rock. Its amazing. She shaped these stairs so we could come down here without hurting ourselves, like I did the first time. And I watched Blaze and Autumn have a play-fight. They both act so much like little wolf cubs, its funny. And Autumn and i spent some time in the woods a bit ago. the worst part about the cave thing is my sleeping is all wrong. i'm supposed to sleep during teh day and be awake at night, but now I do the opposite and its annoying. I don't like being awake all day, btu I can't help it. I'm never tired. Because everyone else is awake. Anyhow, what did you do?" Yes, the chatterbox. And she managed to breath at some point in there.

Airana ran her fingers though Dews hair slowly and hummed softly while the minnow chattered on like a young happy dolphin. It made her smile. "This one Autumn seems to have taken a liking to you as much as I have. You spend so much time with her." Airana chuckled softly. She then clipped something in Dews' hair. "There we are." She smiled brightly then frowned a little. "If only you had longer hair. I would string all sorts of things in your hair then." Her glance moved then to the stairs and the light murmur of voices that floated down from them. Only for a breath was her smile pushed into a frown but it swiftly returned as she waited for Dew to ramble on about this and that.

Dew reached up to feel what was in her hair, unable to see it. "Ooo! What is it? Is it a shell? I found one on the beach that looks like a big snail was in it, but there was no snail. I don't like my hair long. i had it long once, but it kept getting caught on things. So I keep it short. Its no fun to play a game in the forest and have your hair get stuck. It hurts too! Yeah, i guess I did spend a lot of time with Autumn. But Dancer was asleep a lot, cause she can heal. Or she was out. Starsong too. She was sick, I think. And Llune has a cub in her belly, so she slept. And savith was with Dacner or Star. And Creek spent a lot of time with Dancer. he talks to her a lot, but only her. And Blaze was usually doing something. Autumn wasn't busy, so i talked to her. Plus, she's a wolfrider, so we have stuff in common. Kinda. sorta." Dew turned aroudn, taking a breath, and smiling at Airana. she missed Airana's frown, "What about you? Did you have fun out in the vast deep? Why don't you come up to the cave and meet everyone?! That would be fun!" She didn't quite pick up on everything around her.

What was in Dews' hair was a small string of three pearls. They were white and stood out in the sandy colored hair of the young wolfrider. A webbed hand patted Dews cheek lightly. "I cannot go up the stairs little minnow." and as if to draw Dews gaze she slapped her tail lightly in the water. "My tail does not shift and it would take a powerful shaper to do so." She slid back into the water feeling to dry for her liking but after a dunking she proped herself up on her elbows at the pools edge. "I wish you could come into the vast darkness of the waters with me. You would be amazed. It is something even many wavedancers can't do." Her pride in herself beaming in her voice and her amber eyes.

Dew looked up the tunnel back at the where the others were in the cave. Her grin faltered, but only for a second. "That sucks. But I guess its right. Fish can't come out on land. And wolves can't stay under water. And neither can take to the sky. Everything in its place." She slipped into the water next to Airana. "I can't go in the vast darkness with you, but I can still swim." She dunked under water to get her hair wet. When she resurfaced she made sure the pearls were still in place, not wanting to lose her gift.

Fathom placed a light touch to Dews cheek. "You can go meet the others if you like. I won't be upset or lonely." She knew that Dew knew Crosscurrent but remembered Dew introducing herself to Tidalwave. "You could greet the new Wavedancer in our tribe." Fathom thought for a moment. "You could go share with me any interesting news you hear up there as well." She chuckled softly with a wink. "Or we can see how strong your lungs are and how long you can hold your breath." She didn't intend to hold Dew under or anything. Just a fun little thing to pass the time.

Dew shrugged the best she could while floating, "Its the same. Savith and Fishy are going to glare. They don't like each other. Dancer is going to be resting from healing and Fishie will go to her. Peyote will be cleaning or making things look nice. Creek will sit and watch along with Blaze and Star, none of them do much. And Llune, well, she would probably talk to the new wavedancer. Besides, I can find out the news up there any time. They hardly ever lock-send, and they never notice when I'm "hanging" aroung." she gave a light giggle. She had spied on some of them a few times, hidden in the trees or something like that. it was fun, even if she didn't really care what was going on or she didn't pay attention. "I want to stay here. But I don't think I should hold my breath underwater just now. I haven't been feeling too good. But next time definately, that is, if you can get rid of this salt smell." She giggled again as her nose twitched.

Dew's ramblings made Fathom chuckle. "You call Crosscurrent Fishy?" Oh was she going to tease him over that. "And he doesn't mind?" In her mind Airana took note on each elf Dew mentioned then switched thoughts just as swiftly as Dew had. "Did you eat some bad meat or something? Are they feeding you well little minnow?" Fathom swam over to the youngling and rested a hand on her head lightly then moved it to her cheek as she tried to feel if any heat was there.

Dew tilted her head, the best she could while still in the water, and blinked a few times as she thought. "Crosscurrent doesn't like it, but I still call him Fishie. That might be why he doesn't like me." she shrugged, the thought easily slipping away from her mind as quick as it had come. Her eyes suddenly shifted to teh ripples she was making in the pool. She didn't think it would be smart to tell Airana about the events of the day. "No bad meat. I just... over did it. Autumn warned me not to overplay, but I don't listen very well." she shrugged again, this one in the hopes of shifting the covnersation. She was glad they were talking instead of sending, because she knew she wouldn't have been able ot say anything otherwise. "Why do you keep calling me 'Minnow'? Whats a minnow anyway?"

The light laughter echoed in the cave as Fathom said quietly, "A minnow is a small fish. Very cute though." She rubbed her nose on Dew's nose giggling. The youths joy and boundless energy infectious to the happy Wavedancer. She wished the youngling could join her in the seas but was happy for their time together now.

Dew floated where she was, still thinking about the name. She really didn't understand metaphors very well, and it was really starting to bug her. Everyone kept calling her different things: minnow, hatchling, kitling. She was starting to get confused as to what she was. "But why call me a fish? I'm a wolf and an elf. And I don't wanna be a little fish. If I were a fish, I'd want to be a big one! One that can swim really fast!" She set her lips in a pout and crossed her arms, briefly, as she needed them to stay floating in place. "And I'd swim really fast and really far and jump out of the water and chase other fish. And play with the five-fingers' fishing lines and nets!" Her pout disappeared as she talked, becoming more and more into the image of her fish self in her mind.

Airana smiled with a soft chuckle. "Oh minnow even the largest fish in the waters started out as a little one. It takes time to be grown big enough to romp about the waters or the land as one wishes." Then her tone became serious. "BUT even the monster slap tails know better then to go anywhere near the humans. They are dangerous and kill without care. No matter your location." A hand rested lightly on Dews cheek and a sad look touched Fathoms face as she said softly. "Or your age." Pulling the webbed hand from the girls cheek Fathom smiled softly. "When I come to see you again I will bring you something else from the waters to enjoy." Fathom looked to the stairs moment. She wanted to meet the others as well. To actually see the one Crosscurrent spoke so fondly of and to give the glider an evil glare. She felt like she was left out of something and that was making her slowly more and more agitated. Her mind reaching out to locksend with Crosscurrents.

Dewpaw sjhook her head, clearing her mind of the images that had been playing infront of her eyes. "The five-fingers can only hurt you if you get caught! I'd swim through the waters like I swing through trees, unseen, uncatchable!" She spun away quickly when Airana lowered her hand and swam backwards in the small space, as if demonstrating her abilities to avoid capture. But Airana's words once again cleared her head. "You're leaving? but you just came! And you haven't met the others!" Dew moved back infront of Airana and tugged her arm, "You can't leave yet!" The cub wanted Airana to stay, whether because she wanted a playmate or she sensed something wrong in Airana's words, she could even tell. Airana seemed saddened, but Dew didn't know if it was the talk about the humans or something else.

As Tidalwave made his way down the stairs he heard Dew's comments about the humans and gruffed a bit. "The humans do not need to see you in the water to snare you in a net and drag you to the surface little one." His voice firm and holding that stern sound Fathers get when trying to stress a point. Comming to stand next to the pool he looked at Fathom and Dewpaw in the water. "You both seem to be enjoying yourself well enough down here." Those purple eyes focus on Dewpaw as his tall form stands next to the pool but then look to Fathom. "Someone would like very much to meet you and has brought you a drink as well." Looking then to Llune if she followed.

Picking her way carefully down the steps, Llune held the steaming cup of tea in one hand and kept the fingertips of the other against the wall. She had better night vision than many Gliders, it was true, as she had spent so many sleepless nights wandering the hallways of the mountain, but nothing so comfortable as Dewpaw and, apparently, the Wavedancers.
Llune was a few steps behind Zayn, so missed both Dewpaw's comments, and Zayn's response. She was in earshot at about the same time that Tidalwave announced her, so Llune greeted the near-pitch-blackness. "Hello! It is good to meet you my dear... Do you like tea?" Llune holds up the drink because she's not really sure where she needs to hand it yet.
Slowly the cave room is beginning to focus. Yes, that darkish patch over there is the water, and that *other* dark patch is the wall, right? Maybe...
