"Fun is not the word!" He laughed and shook his head. Shall we race to the clearing?" It was quite some distance from where they were to but he wanted to test his knee.

Alanis giggled and nodded. "Ready when you are," she said getting in a ready position. Her bum was in the air as she stretched her legs and body. She gave him a teasing wink as well as a smile that reached her eyes.

Zarius felt weak to the knees.Giddy he fell flat on his face from the wink. He picked himself up in time to see her dash off. "You cheated!" He shouted then scrambled to catch up with her. He thought of phasing to catch up but the chase was exhilarating. "I'll get you!!" he yelled as he sucked air into his lungs. He was happy. Well this day is turning out better than it was. He beamed as he jumped over a rotten oak tree.

Alanis looked over her shoulder and giggled again, "I bet you won't!" she teased some more as she began zig zagging around the trees. He wasn't that far away and was steadily catching up, as she put on a burst of speed. Alanis tried to keep her breathing even. If he really wanted to catch her, he'd have to work for it.

"STOP!" he yelled. His eyes grew wide as he halted abruptly; dirt mounding up in under his feet. There was something up ahead. Something very large and smelled of danger. Was that a demon hunter? He stalked low to the ground. Did it hear him when he yelled? His heart pounded. Where was Alantis?
((figured I would spice it up xD give it a twist. Demons roaming the earth..there must be demon hunters? lol!))

Alanis halted dead in her tracks and took a couple of steps back. An eerie feeling filled her stomach as she turned to head back toward Zarius. Something off in the distance boomed loud and clear as a bell, as she heard a whistle fly past her; just mere inches from her head. "Zarius! Whats going on?" Alanis zig zagged her way back to him and hid behind him.

His tail twitched violently. He repositioned himself when Alantis scooted behind him. "Are you okay?" He peered back for a second then concentrated ahead; listening intently.

"I . . t-think so," she didn't like how shaky she was. There was something wrong with this picture. A human hadn't attacked before, but then again this one didn't feel right. An air of malicious intent surounded the form and seemed to cause ripples among the air. "Why would they do something like this Zarius?" she asked in a whisper peering around him. Oddly she felt safe with Zarius, and knew he wouldn't let anything bad happen.

Zarius moved back slowly and put his paw on hers. "I didn't think there were any around this area..." he sorta said to himself in a whisper. His eyes dazed and confused. "Demon hunters...some humans are out there just to cause us harm."His expression went dark. "We need to get out of here; they know at least one of us are here." He knew if they tried to run they would be painting targets; the grass was long. "Lets try to phase." He concentrated and the air wavered but nothing happened.

Alanise merely nodded as she got a sinking feeling. "Demon hunters," she repeated the words slowly as if she didn't understand, although she did. Really it was the thought of humans there just to hurt them that she couldn't understand. Her human had never mentioned any demon hunters. Ever. "Why isn't it working?" Alanis asked sharply, as she concentrated and tried as well. She'd never phased before, but she wasn't afraid to try it, if it meant keeping them alive.

Sheer panic hit him. "They must be using some type of incantation to restrict our phasing." he shook his head. "I really didn't think they were around here." Emotions took over. "I should have sensed it! If it wasn't for me you wouldn't be in danger!" he growled deep. "I came here way to often,he must have seen my tracks." It was waiting all along. He didn't know what to do. His heart rate raced. "I'll distract him while you run for the woods." He ordered.

She shook her head."No, I'm not leaving you behind. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if you -" Alanis couldn't finish, or even say the word. She didn't want to believe dieing would be an option. Shaking her head again, Alanis peered around Zarius to get a better look at the black figure. "The grass is long enough for us to crouch down and crawl away. I know there's a chance it might come closer, but running and leaving you behind isn't an option for me, unless you can promise me you'll be okay and I'll see you again."

He sighed and peeked up over the grass cautiously. "We could chance crawling but I'm afraid if it rustles either bit..IT would see us." Zarius wasn't actually sure what the gender was. "I want you to be safe...you're the best thing that has happened to me in a long time." He looked her in the eyes. "I'll distract it while you go to the woods...I'll do a large 'B' line back towards the forest. If we can get out of this field we should be able to phase." He gulped. "I hope."

Alanis nodded, "I know." She knew there wasn't any more time left to think things out or argue that her leaving, would make her go near insane with worry for him. "Fine. I want you to be safe to, you're the sweetest demon I've met. I'll run back to the forest and I'll wait for you in the thickest part, in the muck," she scrunched her face up. But the mud and thick trees would give her great cover, just in case there was more than one demon hunter and they decided to follow. She nuzzled him quickly, then pulled away to face toward the edge of the forest.
Without another second thought, Alanis took a fast zig zag through the grass. She could hear the wind whistling again, but every shot missed her. Taking a long lunge toward the treeline, her claws touched the ground and she disappeared into the forest.

His heart beat faster. Now was the time. He sprang up and darted in the opposite direction Alanis ran. "Over here!" he yelled. He made high quick leaps this way and that. Trying not to stay in one place for too long. He heard the whistling sounds and knew he was being chased. I can out run anything. He had to. He ran strong down wind from the forest the further down the better he thought if i can make it to the river he will lose my tracks. He paced himself then something hit him. It stung.
Zarius rolled and fell into the river he was running to. I can make it. He pushed himself on.The water was chilled. He climbed up onto the opposite shore line. His breath was hard.he didn't want to look back he had to push himself.
He ran a small distance then looped back towards the river. Hoping the trail would throw the tracker off.
The water was icy cool. He took a reed and snapped it quickly to use as a breathing apparatus. He submerged himself fully and swam up the river towards the forests edge. In hopes it would be safe there.
