That was a smart zubat. Frey almost didn't know what hit him until he felt it's fangs sink into his feathers. He winched at the pain, Zyk had landed a solid hit. The pidgeotto was thankful they didn't try to poison him at least. 'They'll probably do it sooner or later, though' he though and tried to shake the zubat off his side.
Sienna grimaced as the attack hit. Ouch. Frey's health was starting to go down. They needed to land a hit soon! "Twister!" The trainer commanded.
Frey twister sharply in the air, hopefully knocking the zubat off of him by now. He continued to spin at a high speed in the air, stirring up a Twister that danced dizzily towards his opponent.

Zyk was wrenched away from his opponent in the turbulent winds of the Twister. He tried to get away, but the wind tore at him at high speeds. At last he found a hole in the storm and escaped, panting hard.
"Hang in there, Zyk!" Zinnia said fearfully. "Um... Air Cutter!"
Zyk pumped his leathery wings, forming neat slices of air. The "blades" cut straight through the fading Twister and headed towards Frey.

"Use Mirror Move and stop that Air Cutter with your own!" Sienna shouted as soon as she heard Zinnina command her zubat. They still had one move left and then their four moves would be filled, but she wasn't going to use it on an Air Cutter.
The pidgeotto wasted no time in mirroring the Zyk's move, sending his own sharp gusts of air at the zubat's. The sharp air successfully hit and neutralized any waves aimed at him, and any that didn't collide sailed towards his opponent.

"Air Cutter!" Zinnia shouted, thinking wildly.
Zyk would have preferred trying to dodge, but he had his orders. He sent more Air Cutters towards Frey's Air Cutters. Some of them collided and disappeared, but not all. Because Zyk could not use echolocation properly with air, he did not see the two blades coming and was hit.
However, not all of his Air Cutters were destroyed, either. Some continued on their path to the bird pokemon.

"Heat Wave!" Sienna commanded. Maybe they would have better luck if they didn't use the same move twice, the trainer considered superstitiously.
Frey ignored the two stray Air Cutters the zubat hit him with and concentrated on sending toasty waves of heat from his wings, all aimed at Zyk now that the Air Cutters were out of the way.

"Poison Fang!" Zinnia said again. Poor Zyk was getting weaker!
Zyk flew on the updraft caused by the heatwaves to get above Frey. He then folded his wings slightly to descend faster, squeaking to take aim. Once he was sure of Frey's position, he tried to bite the bird and inject it with poison.

The zubat's fanged found their way into Frey's flesh once more. The pidgeotto felt the poison seeping into him and shook the little bat off once more.
"Heat Wave!"
Frey beat his wings, sending power gusts of hot air from them. The waves of wiggling heat soared towards the zubat.

Zyk knew that he was in trouble. He couldn't let go of Frey without getting burned, so what could he do? Improvising wildly, Zyk used another Poison Fang in order to hang on to Frey's back. It was a dangerous move, but the heat generated from the wings could not go backward, and he was safe.
Zinnia stared open-mouthed. Zyk was really smart and brave! It looked like he knew what to do in battle better than she did. Which made sense, seeing how she was just a beginner.
((It's okay. :3 It looks like you just accidentally healed 100 HP five attacks ago.))

Frey made a comical face of pain as the zubat latched onto his back. He still had a bruise there from when some teddiurse jumped on his back! He stopped his heat wave attack immediately and started thrashing about in the air.
Sienna couldn't help but laugh at her poor pidgeotto, and covered her mouth her her hand so he would see. "Hang in there Frey! Use Twister and shake him off!"
The pidgeotto quickly spun in circles, stirring up another Twister to shake off the biting zubat.

For a moment, Zyk held on with nothing more than his front teeth, which must have been extremely painful for both pokemon. In the next instant he was blown away.
"Air Cutter!" Zinnia shouted.
Zyk flapped as hard as he could, though he was getting really tired. But he had to win for Zinnia!

"Mirror Move!"
Frey and his trainer knew he wouldn't be able to dodge in time and let the Air Cutters slice away at his feathers. He was getting numb now and ignore the pain caused by the sharp slices of air, and sent a volley of his own sickle-like gusts towards the small zubat.

"What's it called? Um... Oh yeah! Steel Wing!" Zinnia shouted, fidgeting.
While Zinnia stumbled over the attack name, Zyk was battered all over. Struggling weakly to fly, his wings grew oddly silver and reflective. He flew at Frey with determination, slashing this way and that with his hardened wings.

'He's a persistent little guy.' Frey remarked mentally as he was slashed at with a Steel Wing attack. In an attempt to get away quickly, the pidgeotto dove into a stoop, falling straight towards the floor only to snap his weary wings back open and circle low on the metal field, sparks nipping at his belly feathers.
"Use Heat Wave!" Sienna called. If they were lucky and got another critical hit they might actually have a chance of winning! If not...
Frey kept circling, heat gradually building up in his wings until he created a large thermal upon which he raised himself with quickly. He continued to circle, letting the hot air out in waves that hopefully created a turbulence of heat around the zubat.

Only extreme luck would allow them to win now... Zinnia wondered what attack to use. It seemed plausible that, in Zyk's weakened state, they should use a ranged attack. Therefore... "Air Cutter!"
Zyk flapped hard, sending the blades dancing through the air. He continued chirping weakly, but his wings felt so heavy...

"Almost there Frey! Mirror Move!"
Frey's wings grew heavy, yet he continued to hover. His reaction to his trainer's command was slightly slower than usually, with his health so low it was hard to think straight. The pidgeotto beat with weakening wings and sent an Air Cutter attack right back at the zubat, not even noticing he was hit no matter how much it hurt.
