Walking along at a slow steady pace, her ears swiveled on top of her head. The sun was fading into the horizon and most creatures were heading to their homes...their safety. Her mind wandered as they walked, she wondered where Maion had gone...had he finally gone home? She thought of her lake, she wondered when she would get to go home again...and if it would really be home without him.
In the distance, she could hear the babbling of water. Finally. She couldn't wait to get a drink. Her mouth was dry and her throat sore. She startled at the sudden flapping of wings. She didn't let out a sound, but her head jerked up and her ears searched for the sound before Sof began to speak.
"Find it? It's a bird..." she thought to herself. Her eyes began to scan the canopy over head. By the sounds of the wings it was a large bird. What was she supposed to do, just point it out or hunt it down? She didn't want to look like a fool in front of her mentor. Intently her eyes continued to search for the source.

Sofiel noticed her uncertainty so walked towards her and closed his eyes, after a moment he spoke again, his voice a mere whisper "Visualise the water." He could hear the sound of rocks clashing together as the currents carried them. It had always fascinated him even the mightiest of rocks could be carved into a pointless pebble by the time it reached the lake. That was the true power, a power he was still trying to accomplish. Within his herd he was one of the most powerful warriors, reaching the highest level of ability yet with that recognition only can the challenge to better himself, perhaps while training this delicate looking mare he would achieve something of his own quest.

The sound was faint, she couldn't focus on it as well as Sof could. She could hear the babble, but it was faint and somewhat drowned out by the other noises that caught her attention.
She closed her eyes, trying to visualize the stream..the rocks...the fish...everything. She heard the flapping of the large bird again and broke her concetration. She opened her eyes looking up at the canopy.
Taking a deep breath, she again closed her eyes, focusing in. Trying to focus only on the water. Slowly she took a few steps forward. Waiting. Taking a few more veering off to the right. She took only steps at a time so that if she ran into a tree, it wouldn't hurt her body, only her pride. Step by step the sounds of the water began to grow stonger.

Sofiel waited patiently, observing her methodology, she seemed to be having trouble identifying the source, and then found it distracting when louder sounds appeared. She would learn quickly though, he was sure of that as she soon found the trail and set a course.
Silently he followed his new student. Noting the elegances with each of her steps, that had to be something about her that had caused Maion to become as captivated as he had, how long had they known each other? When did it happen? A small fragment of his soul felt a twang of jealous towards him; he was so young in comparison yet had already discovered someone to love, what was his secret? Although Sofiel found himself dedicated to his herd and their protection, learning new techniques and styles to give him the advantage, some small part felt empty, wishing for something more than the honour of his abilities. Ashamed at such a longing he suppressed the thought once more. He did not deserve such niceties within his world.
As they walked through the forest he heard the volume of the stream increase, they were nearly there now.

Slowly she moved through the trees, the sound of the water getting louder and louder. Her body brushed against several trees as she walked by, but she avoided any head on collisions.
Her focus stayed on the water, even though a few small creatures scurried through the underbrush, she stayed steady. With each step, it was easier to block the other noises out.
It wasn't long before the breeze carried the scent of water, they had made it. She opened her eyes and looked around, the stream was only yards away. She smiled, looking back to her mentor to see if he approved.

The smell of fresh running water was a delicious scent that took over his senses quickly due to the burning thirst that was building up in his throat. Soon the stream was visible, the colours of the river flowing and blending as the waved and moved with the flowing currents, the natural beauty around was such a marvel to the power of nature. As she looked towards him with expecting eyes he simply nodded his response before walking past her to take a sip of the thirst quenching liquid. He was not a great fan of sentiments.
Lowering his head towards the water he sipped it quickly, licking his lips as he was done. The day was nearly done now, the night sky was winning the fight against the sun, banishing it once again in it hole beneath the Earths surface. Out of sight; out of mind.
His eyes scanned the surrounding area for movement, he could see several foxes playing as a happy family on the other side of the river; hear the birds as they settled for the night, bar the owl that fly around in its hunting frenzy. Mice scurried from tree to tree in an effort to hide. The fireflies started to shine, the crickets started to play and the moths started to dance around them. It was the ’night song’. He looked towards Sengdroma; she definitely seemed slightly bedraggled by their long day so he walked away from the river to examine the spot they had found, it seemed that there was enough room for two soquili to sleep, or at least for her to sleep, he doubted he would get much rest this night, a tingled shivered down his spine.
"Rest" he spoke, his voice attempting to be sympathetic yet his usual harsh tone was laced within the word. He would wake her early, test her strength before they did he had her train more to become even more acquainted with the sounds around her. It seemed she needed to have lots of focus, he feared that the exit Maion had picked would not help that matter, yet he would not pretend to understand his actions. Knowing he would have done it for a reason.
Maion’s eyes were dry now. The tears silent and clear now, as he forced himself into a state of control. He would keep his secret promise to her, check she was ok, and watch her silently in the hope that one day she could forgive him. Though his mind was now convinced that it would never happen, not after the pain from her eyes, after all would he ever forgive himself?
Spreading his wings out he took to the sky once more, he eyes darted over the trees in an effort to find them. Looking for the bright ocean blue pelt of his love. He would start were they had left them, hoping to pick up the trail. He had to find them; he had to know she was well and safe. Although it had only been a single day since they had last been together he heart longed to for them to be together again, but at the same time his mind knew there would be months perhaps even years before he could be beside her again. Yet there was no hope he could see. Hopefully they could figure something out. He would lavish her with gifts until she forgave him, he would do something that only he could do to help her. Love could not be lost so easily. And he did love her, with every fibre of his being.

She waited until Sof had his fill of the water before she moved to the edge of the stream. She was exhausted, more so than normal. Slowly she lowered her head letting the cool water flow over her lips before she started to drink. The water was refreshing, she could feel it's cool touch moving down her throat chasing away the thirst.
Once she was done, she turned her body scanning for a place to lie down. She wanted to rest, close her eyes...and forget. It had only been a day, but she missed him. She wondered where he was. The more she thought of Maion, the more saddened she became. She just sighed deeply and looked to Sof as he spoke.
Rest. She laughed inside her head. That word couldn't sound any sweeter. She walked in a small circle searching for just the right place, then allowed her legs to buckle beneath her. She sighed again and tried readjusting. Her muscles were aching. Before long, she had slipped into a state of dreams.

Although Sofiel knew very little about the lily patterned mare before him he could see from the way she moved and the look of sheer sadness within her eyes that she was hurting, he settled on the ground himself, resting his head calming upon his front legs, his eyes slipped shut to give the illusion of rest yet his ears flinched softly at the sound of wind being forced from somewhere above. He could only guess that it was wings, and from the whooshing sound they were obviously very large wings. Maion perhaps?
He glimpsed at Sengdroma as she settled herself down to sleep, it seemed that she was close to resting yet into a troubled nights rest. Slowly and near silently he stood up and began to walk slightly into the forest, turning every now and then to see if she was still resting. He found himself wondering why he cared so much, she was just another student, just a simple mare, and she would leave his world as quickly as she entered it.
It was then that he heard the swooshing sound increase in intensity before stopping, there was a soft thud and the chirping of birds as they were disturbed from their resting places, each sound of the forest simply confirmed what he believed to be true. There was indeed a giant approaching.
Maion’s form appeared from the forest, a starry pelted stallion that seemed to dwarf the very trees themselves, there was a sadness in his eyes that echoed that of Sengdroma’s. Composing himself Sofiel waited for the approach of Maion, his wings shifted softly in the light evening breeze, they seemed more fragile than the Angeni’s thick feathered wings, sulking towards him with his head an inch lower than normal. Sofiel spoke in a low voice making sure that Sengdroma would not be able to overhear them, "Why?" Although he had no interest in his reason he felt he needed to understand for her sake, perhaps he would need to show a little more compassion for her considering the situation she seemed unfortunate enough to find herself in. He would never pretend to understand mares.
Maion sulked closer, his mane dripping with the moisture of the lake still as he approached, the energy that she seemed to provide for him was zapped away with her now leaving him in a sorry state. He heard Sofiel’s question but felt no desire to actual answer; instead he lowered his head and looked to the ground for a moment. Silence lay upon them as the realisation of Sofiels’ unlimited patience drifted upon him, he was happy to wait until his answer was asked, unmoving, unwavering from his task. Always the straight minded arrow. He slowly raised his head, the tears welling up in the corners of his eyes once more although he tried desperately to suppress them; he allowed his eyes to follow the path of footprints Sofiel had left in his wake until finally he saw the figure of a dainty of his female companion. Her blue and green colours danced towards his eyes lighting up his night. She was the complete opposite to him in nearly every way, she was dainty and delicate in his eyes, whereas he was a giant and strong, she was silent and consider, whereas he was more selfish. His actions even at this very moment showed that. She lay upon the ground in what he could only hope was a better state accepting the destiny that had been thrust upon her, while he tried desperately to cling to the hope of a future that he had once had. He realised just how pathetic a creature he really was.
Biting his lips he forced his gaze from her and to Sofiel. His face was stern, still unwavering, uncomfortable to look at he tried to form an answer within his head. "She..." he began, trying to force himself to remember why he was willing to put himself through this agony. He continued, his voice had lost its unusual strength, "...wanted to learn to be as strong as her father, I knew I would not be able to teach her in fear of holding back or hurting her. So that was why I needed you old friend." Even as the words left his lips they felt like a lie although he knew it to be the truth, it felt more like he was forcing a wedge between them, destroying them both, yet he longed so much to be the glue that stuck them back together and picked up even the smallest of pieces. Sighing he looked to the ground once more and spoke, "I just want her to be safe. I will watch her grow and do all I can to help but I will not show inform her of my presence. That I feel would be the best thing for her. She does not need me for this. Perhaps the hatred I saw in her when I left can become a catalyst for her training? I only hope..." He stopped, knowing all too well that Sofiel cared not for his emotions, yet he was curious why his old friend had willingly started such a conversation. Although he did not continue his sentence out load he played the familiar words over in his mind once more, I hope that she will forgive me and take me back. I can not imagine my world without my Moon to guide him.
Sofiel turned, seeing the pain and the emotions beginning to well, he never coped well with such things. He simply spoke the words "I see" before heading back towards Sengdroma. He now understood some of her feelings, and the expression upon her face, he was sure that she would overcome it. Train her he would. As promised.

Fast asleep, Sengdroma had no clue of the meeting going on just yards from where she lay. Her coat flinched randomly as she dreamed. Her mind was filled with different images, she had foals and carried a smile on her face. They were patterened like her only with stars...one...one was darker though....Maion. She was dreaming of their children. The children that she had hoped they would one day have. At least here, in her dream, she was safe. She didn't have to worry about Maion walking away from her again. She could see him standing in the distance, a broad smile on his face as he watched their foals. He looked proud, satisfied. Sengdroma smiled as she dreamed.

Maion slowly moved away, turning his head every now and then to steal a last glimpse of the delicate creature that had captured his heart from their very first dance. Before long he found himself flying once more back to her lake, the very lake that he longed would one day become theirs. He had to hold to such obscure notions; they were all he had left.
Attempting to rest he lowered himself to the ground as the soft waves of the lake splashed playfully around his hooves, as he watched the waves aimlessly his mind began to wander, he couldn’t simply hang around here for weeks, months, or even years, he had to take action of his own. Standing determined once more he heaved himself up to his feet; spread his wings out wide, the breeze felt calming as it rustled through his feathers. He would fly to her father; he would ask permission to take her for his own, then set a plan into motion to sweep her off her hooves. He would earn her back, even if it took the rest of his life to do so.
Sofiel entered the clearing once more and swiftly settled close to the mare, he closed his eyes yet he found his mind wandering to the thoughts of the conversation that had just taken place, he felt slightly differently towards the mare beside him. It was obvious that she meant a great deal to Maion, and that the sadness in her eyes echoed her own feelings for him. It seemed sad to him yet he forgot these thoughts quickly as he slipped into an uneven sleep of his own.
The images from his last mission floated through his mind, blood, blades and words flew all around him in the gloomy darkness, the sky itself seemed stained in angry red. He heard the screams of the female he was sent to capture before being stopped by several of her guards. They hung him up, tortured him for three days - the bit marks still stung in furry around his neck and waist line. Three days was the longest anyone had ever managed to keep him captive, he had resisted the temptation to escape in the hope that his prey would come to him, and deep in the night of the third day she appeared, delicate, beautiful with a tint of purple. She appeared far too clean to be called a true warrior in his eyes.
Then he woke up. Before remembering her kiss and her turning away, before escaping, before his latest adventure began.
Morning was always his favourite time of the day, the night’s darkness started to lift as the mellow morning light began to take over. He stood up, stretching and yawning gently as his eyes and ears scanned the surroundings, the forest was also waking up. Once he was satisfied that they were safe and alone he looked towards his newest companion, and lowered his head towards her softly and nudged her. "Wake up Sengdroma." Her first task would be to find food, he was sure she would have little trouble with this take, but perhaps being forced to sit in the sun looking at the food while trying to concentrate would be a completely different story. His objective was control and concentration, and that was what he would get.

Her ears and coat flickered as she slept. It has been a restful night full of sweet dreams. In her semiconcious state she thought she heard her name. Slowly, her eyes began to open. For a moment, she didn't realize she wasn't at her lake. Once her eyes completely opened, and she took a look around, she had remembered what was going on.
She yawned and stretched her legs before trying to stand, her eyes falling on Sof as she stretched. She nodded her head to him, her silent "Good Morning."
She rolled slightly more to her side than usual, trying to get her legs under her belly so that she could stand. Pawing at the ground she got her front hooves underneath her, then her hind. She wasn't feeling so good. Perhaps, perhaps it was all the excitement of yesterday.
Once she stood and stretched one last time, she looked to Sof for instructions. She was starving. She hoped, that whatever his first lesson was today...included food. She flipped her mane to the other side, trying to remove the stray strands from her face as she waited. Today, today was her first full day of training. She was ready....she thought.

Sofiel grunted as Sengdroma awoke, she seemed to trusting for his liking yet he expected this was from being spoilt in her life so far. Perhaps she had never experienced true danger, why fear what do you do not understand or know of after all. Yet at the same time he knew that they were both safe in their current position, the mellow morning light revealed the world to be silent and calm, the creatures still caught up in their slumber. Standing to his full height once more her allowed his eyes to wander towards the forest once more, he knew that it housed many delicacies as well as many poisons. Berries of green and yellow should never be touched by the lips of soquili even if birds could handle them. He had seen many a great warrior neglect their training and awareness under the rumbling of an empty stomach.
His line of sight lowered and he moved his head back towards Sengdroma, she seemed sluggish, stiff, and there was a laboured pain that lingered in her movements. Making a note of it he pushed such thoughts to the back of his mind and spoke once more. "Task one. Find food. Ensure it is enough for two for an entire day." He paused once more, running his own instructions through his mind; the challenge would be to see how she handled herself. Happy with his instructions he raised his head and nodded once before saying one word. "Go!"
Sofiel planned to watch Sengdroma and follow her at a reasonable distance so as not to interfere. He would not keep his presence a secret nor would he assist her unless absolutely necessary.

Enough for two, she could handle that. It would be like gathering breakfast for her and Ma....She snorted. She looked to the forest and nodded, letting Sof know that she had heard his instructions. Before entering the forest, she looked for any plants that had large leaves that she could store her findings in. Not far from where they had spent the night, large beautiful lillies blossomed. Their leaves would be perfect for folding the berries and other delicacies that she would find.
She made her way slowly to the flowers, gently taking only the leaves that she would need. She didn't want to harm the blossoms or the plants, carefully she nipped at the leaves and removed them, carrying them between her soft lips as she turned to head towards the forest.
Entering the forest, she would trust her eyes and nose to lead her to their food for the day. They would be rationed out, and berries would hold better than most flowers or greenery. Her nose didn't immediately pick up the scent of anything sweet, so she continued to walk. Her eyes scanning for familiar plants that could be hiding tasty treasures.

Sofiel watched carefully as his young student took control of the situation. Her care and consideration for the forest intreguied him, it was an elegance that he remembered seeing only once before, it was all but a distant memory now, a wish, a dream, it felt like a life way away now. If things in the world had been different then it could have been possible for the two halfs to meet, yet here they were, stuck in limbo, stuck in a place were his happiness was taboo. In the way of the world it was clear that she was a princess and he a lowly drop of dew on a leaf.
Forcing himself into the world of reality once more he continued to watch, it seemed she was now on the hunt for food, it was tempting to imitate her, to find the scent of food himself but he resisted. He wanted to observe. He moved closer, following effortlessly. Suddenly he smelt a strange sweet scent, he figured it much have come from the mare before him. It was strange to him, completely unfamilar, and in a way forbidden. After all its was the scent of Maion's lady.
He continued to fly over the familar landscape, yet he heart was only half in it. He knew he needed to give Sengdroma her space, just like he knew that she was very traditional. He wanted to to right by her even if it didn't quite seem like it at the time. He sighed, the weight of the world seemed to be heavy upon his shoulders, he could only hope that Scythe would know what to do, and if he dared asked, that Scythe would approve of him asking Sengdroma, his Moon and world, to be his mate. That was the only thought that kept him going now.
