"I DO say so. And I'm the head of this group!" Jashua said, still huffy but rather less defensive. She had never really seen Loche and Justin like that, they had always been more of brothers to her, she was one of the guys. She pretty much always had been. Jashua nodded mentally to herself as the only male in the room relaxed a tad, glad he had decided to join in the joking and fun.
"Well. Apparently we were all late even though I know I arrived exactly when he told us to so we had to run laps. After which he decided it would be a good idea to make us throw our shoes at a New Eve Sergeant. Of course I didn't, she ranks higher and she was shooting at us." Jashua explained matter-of-fact. Though that wasn't her only reason, any chance to disobey Adrian she leapt at, especially when he wasn't really paying attention to her. Not to mention that the other Sergeant would probably end up having more control of her later on, though she did rather hope to go to White Shadow.
It was then she heard the light rapping on the wall.
"C'mon in!" She shouted before turning back to the others, "So does anyone here have a fort preference if they bond?" Ever since Loche had been forced to leave she'd always made sure to add that IF in whenever she spoke of bonding.

The details of the morning made him wince at first but it quickly turned to slight, restrained laughter. Shot at, yes, but it wasn't like any of them would get hit. "Wow. Didn't think anyone would actually throw things at a Sergeant. Not even under Adrian's orders." Then again, he wasn't exactly... fearful of the Drill Sergeant. Follow orders (that made sense, mind), show up on time, don't make a fuss, and it seemed like things usually went pretty well.

He raised a hand in greeting to the recruit standing at the door. "H'lo. Welcome to join us." He repeated after Jashua said the same thing in fewer words. The question their leader asked caught him off guard. Russ caught the words 'Where E's going' before they left his lips, wrestling it down within. "I guess I don't really have a preference. I'd just like to bond and do something." Learning was fine, but he was impatient for the chance to prove himself in the 'real' world. "What about you? Where do you want to go when you get out of here." The if wasn't changed on accident. He had once been told that the key to anything was believing that one could do it, and, on some level, Russ believed it.

Carefully Yaz entered the room, here eyes scanning the other students in the room. "New Eve." Yaz had really given the fort some thought and had done some side research into each fort, really liking the structure of the more under controll fort. She smiled as she reached out and took a seat, looking at the other recruits around the room. She really didn't have much to say as she herself really liked her sergeants class and found it very life positive.

"New Eve eh?" She said with a smile to the newcome. "Well, if I bond I personally want to go to White Shadow." Jashua said with a smile, pulling up a chair beside her and propping her feet up, popping her knees in the process. If she bonded. This winter was her last season, soon she'd be too old to bond. Of all the other seasons she had failed her chances for this one didn't seem very high, would she end up Bondless and alone for the rest of her life? Jashua shook the thoughts from her head, she definitely wouldn't Bond if she kept being so pessimistic! She had to be positive if she was going to do anything! "Though if I don't I guess I'll stay with Loche until I figure out what I'm going to do with myself, either that or go back to my parents at the Farm." She said with a shrug. She was very nonchalant about it but in all actuality she had been planning what she would do if she didn't Bond. She didn't want to go back home and have to face her parents, and she knew Loche would understand how she felt, seeing as he hadn't Bonded either. But she didn't want to remind him that he too had failed with her own sob story. She just didn't know what she was going to do with herself after her Academy days.

The newcomer entered, comfortable it seemed with the area. Russell listened to their preferences and thought for a moment: White Shadow was likely to be more his style, laid-back, friendlier, but New Eve might help him suppress the anger with being stricter. Bah, he'd make a last minute call if when he bonded.

The question of what to do if he didn't bond was an easy one to answer: he had to find her. He didn't care if it took him most of his life, he had to see her again. It called his very blood, demanded that he ride out as soon as possible. As it was, he could see himself doing the same each winter, going in search of her with his partner. If he could.

"Do you think killing centipedes will be relatively hard or easy?"

Eustace slipped as silently as she could into the room, holding a flyer and sat somewhere in the back where she could possibly go unnoticed. She listened to a few of the conversations, taking special interest in the Forts. She turned her head to a black-haired female recruit whose name she recalled to be 'Jash'. For the first time since she arrived, Eustace spoke up.

"Y-You're a farm girl too?" She asked, thankful that there was somebody else here who'd gone through something similar. She smiled sweetly, trying to make the best first impression that she could. Eustace worried far too much about others' thoughts. Whatever these recruits thought of her was irrelovent. Even so, she didn't want to start off on the wrong foot with any of them. "Do you know a man named Cornelius?"

If the girl knew her father, then it was even less likely that they would become friends. After all, Cornelius didn't have the best reputation.

Oh I don’t think it’ll be so easy, I mean it takes an entire patrol to get the job done. But that’s what Adrian is preparing us for anyway, a hard task.” Jashua said with a smile. She’d thought about the centipedes a lot actually. And while she doubted it would be impossible, that had been proven, it would certainly be difficult if her breathing kept up as it was. But she would have her Bonded with her so it couldn’t be too hard in the end could it? And she’d have Loche with her so…
No. No she wouldn’t have Loche. She’d be out there alone, unless she could find Justin, but she didn’t know what fort he went to so that would be almost impossible. She would be on her own out there, against those giant insects. Yeah, she’d have her patrol and WolfRider’s always stick out for each other but personally, emotionally, she’d be on her own. That wouldn’t be a new experience for her, that’s how it had been through most of her childhood, but she’d gotten so used to having people who cared around her it would be hard to change back.
OH! Hello! You snuck in on me very sorry.” Jashua jumped as the new girl spoke up, somehow Jashua hadn’t noticed her come in and a wave of guilt washed over her. “Jashua Aldon not your service. And yep, I was a farm girl myself, always a bit nervous growing up as we lived closer to The Wall than to The City.” Jashua explained with a smile, feeling truly sorry for not having noticed the girl’s entrance. She would have to be better about that or a spy of Adrian’s might just end up sneaking in on her. "Cornelius? I don't recognize the name personally no, I didn't leave the farm much except to go with my mom to the City and I never really met any of my Dad's friends...I'm assuming he's a relative of yours?" Jashua said helpfully, hoping she wasn't expected to know this Cornelius and though him recognize the newcomer.

Eustace smiled sweetly and replied. "It's all right. It was my fault to begin with." After hearing that she hadn't known Eustace's father, a wave of relief washed over her. She could start anew here. "Yes," She said, nodding. "He's my father. It really is better that you don't know him. He's not the most popular person back home." As soon as Eustace let it slip, she cursed herself for it. She loved her father. It was incredibly rude to speak so ill of him! Then, realizing another folly of hers, she continued. "My father is Cornelius Vinarin. My name is Eustace. It's a pleasure to meat you, Miss Aldon."

Eustace bowed slightly, feeling a bit awkward doing so. It was also difficult getting used to calling her superiors 'Sir' and "Ma'am". Her father had never required her to do things like that. It had been very easy-going back at the farm. That is, when she wasn't making mistakes. "This club... Or group, I mean. Sorry. It's for expressing complaints about the Drill Sergeant?" She shifted in her seat when her position became uncomfortable and folded and unfolded the flyer as she spoke. It was another of the qualities that she was trying to break herself of. She was a terrible fidgeter.

Yaz nodded her head listening to the others, her mind drifting off into various opposite directions about what the new fort would be like. "Personally I think the centipedes will be a real pain to kill, I mean they teach us in class that if we get bit we die from their poison am I right?" She swam in and out of listening to her fellow peer's conversations noting the term farmer come up. She wasn't a farmer didn't like working much for that mater lazy as she was, always procrastinating till the very last possible moment and then even so didn't really do much. It was pretty obvious most of the students didn't regard her with very high respect, deserving she thought, considering her very cold outward nature.

The surprisingly quiet entrance of another girl (boy, did he feel alone) made Russ twitch slightly when she spoke, feeling the protest in his leg at the movement. She and Jashua began talking, and he looked over at the two others until his question was answered. "Yeah, I guess so. I think a challenge will be nice."

To Yaz, he nodded again. "Just can't let them in close, I guess. Good thing we have rifles on our side." He smiled slightly, raising a hand to wave in greeting to Eustace. "Yes," Russ answered her. Shortly after the comment, his smile turned slightly shy, his head drooping the tiniest bit to indicate a mistake. "That's what I believe Jashua said, anyway."

||I'm not sure if I should still post here or not. I'll just keep Eustace here until there's a good stopping point where she can step out. Or better yet, I'll just have her leave in this post.||
Eustace looked at Russ. He was waving at her. A boy waved at her. The only boy in the room waved at her. Then he smiled and answered her question. Russ, a boy, smiled and waved at her. She blushed a very noticeable dark red color. "T-th-thank y-y-yooou-u-u." She attempted pathetically. The very small rational part of her mind said 'He waved at you! That doesn't suddenly mean you're getting married! That wasn't recruit code for "let's go out", you moron!' Realizing her folly and somehow unable to stop blushing anyway, she stood from her seat. Why, oh why, did she have to call attention to herself? "I-I th-think I have to g-go to th-the-" Eustace left without finishing her sentence, trying desperately to cover her face. That was one embarassment she was never going to live down.

Just as a girl was exiting, Lysander entered the room. He looked toward the hall with an eyebrow raised. 'Okay, so she's a few ingredients short of a whole pie.' When he walked in, one detail hadn't failed to catch his attention. How many girls were in this room? Lysander did a head count. 'Good, so the odds are in my favor.' The only problem was that boy. What was his name, Roy? Randy? Lysander walked across the room in front of everyone and sat down, propping his feet up on the empty chair in front of him.
"The name's Lysander Kinsley. Nice to meetcha." He waved a hand toward everyone in the room. If he avoided the boy, all the lovely ladies in the room might catch on. "Please, please, don't be intimidated. I promise, I don't bite... Unless you're into that." Lysander grinned, showing perfectly straight white teeth. 'And if you are, I'll be the biting king, baby.' Without waiting for the girls to answer, he turned to Russ. "They dig me."
