Unaware of this special talent Iolanthe posessed the stallion began to become concerned as she still hadn't surfaced for air. Had his little playful act send the mare to the depths of the lake? A grimance took over his features as he prepared to take a dive, she broke the surface and gasped for a mighty breath of air. Silently he let his own sigh of relief go, feeling a lot better that he hadn't just drowned his companion. God...what if he had. No...best not even go there. Kicking steadily as he kept his wings against his side as floaters thanks to the trapped air, a strange electrical tingle shot down his spine when her steely eyes met with his own. Quite taken back by it, it became more odd once she quickly adverted her own gaze before a grin flashed.
What on earth had she been thinking in those breif seconds with a look like that on her face?
Either way the stallion had little time to think about it as she kicked over to him, waiting either a sassy comment or a new hole in his cheek from her spikes. Yet what happened next he could barely comprehend let alone fathom that prediction. At first thinking it was simply seaweed or a brave fish which brushed against his leg, he was downright shocked when he felt her tail curl more securely around. So much of a shock infact that he'd forgotten to actually respond as a blank look crossed his face as he looked down into the murky depths unable to see what was going on. Snapping out of it he put on a grin, cocking his head to the side in a non-chalant manner. "I thought that was a good enough warning of my intent." Deep vocals returned the sly remark...before once more finding himself speechless. This was becoming increasingly annoying...
"Why...I thought you needed to cool of-" Instantly silence as his eyes ever so slightly widened, his own heart began to pound in an unruly fashion against his ribcage....honestly believing that his lungs had gotten into his throat. Why....why the hell was she so close? Her hot breath tickled his cold nose, able to smell the fire on her breath...he couldn't breathe...he dare not breathe incase somehow she could sense the strain in his intake. Was she onto him? Did he even know what he was infact into? As soon as she turned towards shore, he let out quietly a giant sigh, having also forgotten to keep himself afloat as he sunk down into the depths to his nose where he sulked there for a moment.
She wasn't like any other mare he'd met. Abattie was a lovestruck fool, he enjoyed toying with her heart because it was just so easy....like a little puppet. The little flutter mare was interesting...so skiddish she was - although he'd admit he thought about crushing her with his hoof a few times...then there was Nyx. The Angel of light and dark...stuck inbetween. She was so reserved, so cautious...he really had to work with her. Yet Iolanthe....she was a perfect mix of give and take, he didn't have to strain himself to get to her...yet at the same time he was actually put to the test every now and then. In a sadistic sort of way...he enjoyed this thrill.
Finally following her to the shore as his hooves sunk into the sand, his long wet locks stuck to his dark pelt as he gave himself a moment to shake off his water logged form before formulating an answer. "Every Dance has to end sometime...I figured while we were at a lake, you know." Stretching the long leathery wings into the night air he gave one monsterous flap as droplets which had pooled flew everywhere. Folding them neatly at his sides, his own gaze shifted to the femme fatale before him, his ears ringing as she spoke in that oh so delicious tone.
"Mmmm, I see....Well, we don't want you drooling before the hunt has even begun. Shall we persue the next task of the night? We don't have that much longer before daybreak...." Although it was a new moon, he still had a general idea of the time by the level of darkness in the stars above...never did he lose track of the time of night it was.
Such a move could proove fatal.

“Mm… you’re right.” She glanced up at the sky, seeing that the darkness was getting lighter; if she didn’t feed herself she’d be grumpier tomorrow night, and she was loathe to be grumpy when she intended to find Lon once more. She just couldn’t leave him alone… not now. Not after what was happening! She had to find out what he was doing to her. Still, though, she delighted to see she affected him so deeply, and they had just barely started. Tonight, perhaps, was the first night she hadn’t stopped grinning, though some of it was less than innocent. Still… she had been rather tempted. So close, and yet so far… A stolen kiss, a quick nuzzle, she had been so close to him, but she had decided it was better off to play hard-to-get; or rather, more sassy. It wasn’t like her to be like… well, like that, as she’d seen other lovestruck mares to be. Fools that they were, they still knew the love emotions—wait. Did she just…? No. No. No! Don’t fall! He is nothing more than a passing prey… a friend, a companion, what are you thinking!? Her inner self shouted at her. Pfft. She had to laugh at herself, somewhat. Too early… far too soon. Yes, that’s what it was… just mere lust. After all, he was irrationally irresistible; she could see how less females fell head over heels for him. What a pity for them, then. Iolanthe had her fangs in Lon, now—too bad for those idiotic mares who hoped for his attentions…!
She turned her gaze to Lon, a smile sweeter than sugar lacing her mouth at the thought of a good hunt. “You think me to be the type to drool, Lon? My, I would have thought by now my sense of being would give you a better impression!” Still, her stomach was rumbling some kind of ferocious, and she hardly felt embarrassed; she was hungry, that was that. To her, if a stallion couldn’t stand to be with her regardless of her manners… well, what did she care? She hardly had manners equal to what those lesser would prefer. She had the manners of a predator. And, if she was right, Lon wouldn’t particularly care… she hoped. Hold on, hold on. What am I hoping for? I do not need to put effort into this! I have always been able to take pleasures without even trying… so why am I…? Bah! These thoughts, these thoughts! They were so frustrating! Lon was not cute as he sulked in the water, just before he came out, standing next to her. That is, of course, until she herself was splattered with excess water as Lon dried himself. A wry grin replaced her sugary smile. “And I suppose every Dance ends with a very interesting splash, since you figured we were at a lake and all.” She was dripping wet again. Bother. At least her purple fur was easy enough to dry; she just needed to find a scorching hot summer day sometime to soak.
Iolanthe never appeared during the day too often, and she did not have many allies, nor friends, nor enemies. In fact, while she was a playful, sassy character, Lon was perhaps the first to get under her skin. She never remembered names, but somehow, Lord of Nightmares had made his presence with a demand unlike any other… Not that he did it purposefully, but still. …Damn these pathetic wishy-washy thoughts! She was no lovestruck mare, nor was she a loser like those simpleton lessers! “Come with me, my dear Lord of Nightmares…” She turned towards the forest that surrounded their lake of dancing. “I’m interested in that taste of yours, you see. Perhaps we can pull off an alliance…?” It was obvious she was trying to avoid asking for his companionship; she already abhorred the thought she was even growing soft enough to consider him a friend this night. Something was happening, but she hated to admit it, but she was truly frightened to find out what was happening with her… And of course, she blamed it on Lon, but he didn’t have to know that. Yet.

Lips curling into a most devious smirk the stallion let out a snort of mocking intent, eyes only for the mare before him as he spoke in a sassy tone. "Oh you've left some lasting impressions my dear yet mentally speaking, those who have their eyes set on something so strongly...and for you its usually hunting prey. By pure habitual instinct your body will be getting ready for food...therfore you'll produce more saliva....drool in short. Shall we open your mouth and see?" Golden orb closed into a wink as his body shifted to a low trot as he returned to her side, matching pace instantly as they moved onto their next item on the menu. ...quite literally.
"As you wish...Lady Iolanthe." Lon bemused with a chuckle, before sinking into thought.
Fortunate for the cool night air as it chilled his wet pelt his eyes wandered to the depths of the dark woods around them. Now, Lon was by no mean psychic or anything of that sort...yet being whom he was he'd learned by his observations certain senarios often came true and most had faultered by not listening to baser instinct. Simply put, there was just something about the silence around them that made a pit of uncertianty blossom in his stomach...an ominous sign as he felt his spine tingle. Yet how could anything go wrong? Surely no one would be mad enough to approach Iolanthe and himself in the depths if the night? Maybe I am imagining things? My mind isn't in its right state, obviously. He convinced himself, casting a thoughtful glance her way...ever since he met her and they passed that testing toss of conversation, his usual games and thoughts had been tossed out the proverbial window. Lon didn't wish to just cast that feeling completely aside but it was just so...odd to have that feeling now of all times.
"Alliance..." He echoed and let the word drift off as he thinked, she was indeed confirming that she wanted to continue to see him, or did that only apply to the end of the night and hunt? It would be quite a bother if he had to stalk her from the shadows if she denied him seeing her anymore...yet it wouldn't be his first encounter with distance observing. I'll do anything for what I seek...yes. No matter what her intentions are...I don't have much of a choice in the matter. Satisfied with said reason, his lips curled up into a rare...rather happy looking smile will no alterior intent behind it. Pure, simple, warming. "I would like that..." No need to hide that he was content with the mare...he assumed she already figured that out by his continued presense as well that he enjoyed playing their little game.
"Now...how about you show me how a master hunter starts her search? Im afraid I missed it when we first met due to our....cautious start." Nudging her shoulder with his own, he wondered what kind of sesnses she must have had...perhaps a very accute sense of smell?

Iolanthe had similar thoughts to Lon that it was oddly quieter than usual around the dark forest that loomed before them, but she ignored such a thought over just finding food to calm her growling stomach. What did it matter if there were hardly crickets chirping about, anyway? The silence was probably due to her and Lon's presence, as both of them were predators, and usually prey could sense when there were predators about, anyhow.
"Really, you want to see me to open my mouth? If you want to kiss me that badly just say so, geez!" She joked. If Iolanthe had hair, she would have tossed it, but instead she sent a sexy smirk Lon's way, and then returned her gaze to the dark forest, observing it silently as she tried to find movement among the shadows; she didn't care if all she caught was a measly rabbit at this point; it would at least satiate her hunger for a couple of hours, and they were pretty easy to catch.
There! The softest sound of a rustle had her tense with anticipation. As her leg muscles loosened so that she could get ready to chase and attack, then burn and skewer her prey, Iolanthe made one last, quiet remark to Lon before taking off at the fastest speed possible, "Watch and learn, Lon! And I'll have you know I'm no lady, merely a dragoness!" Off she went, quickly vanishing into the forest, unknowingly heading for more trouble than she might wish for.
It was a good thing she could see clearly in darkness, unlike those lessers who had trouble seeing their left foreleg to their right backleg. It was just more fun at night to hunt, too; she was mostly nocturnal as it was, only coming out during the day were it to be highly heated temperatures. Soon, though, Iolanthe would find herself questioning what Lon truly was to her, but for now, she put him to the back of her mind, wanting to focus on her hunting. The air smelled of deer... perhaps, she might luck out and kill a deer instead of a rabbit. The thought excited her, and so she followed the scented trail.

Ooooo that mare. What a cheeky thing she is...if I had toes they'd be tired from standing on them all the time from her.. He mused silently in his head, shaking it with a grin as he followed her into the depths of the night. There she was flaunting that raw beauty she held...almost breathtaking really...yet what he didn't know was how beautiful she evolved into when she was in predator mode. Focused, in tune with everything....a lethal killing machine. Without a word he watched in awe as she took off into the abyss with a barely caught shout back at him...he very well could have missed it all together but he knew he had to keep his head in the game.
Slowly moving from a lazy lope to a gallop as he attempted to follow and learn from her expertise hunting, the massive stallion soon found himself skidding to a hault as a a flash of black, red and white filtered into his vision. A kalona? No....she had a unicorn's horn. Was this an elusive Unikalona he'd heard about....an offspring shunned by all? He stood silent, watching...his mind racing with questions, concerns...but most of all...what was she doing?
"My..." Raven purred, it had been a while since she'd seen such a magnificent specimen such as he...it excited her that on her midnight hunt that she would instead find this....something much more delicious. "What do we have here? Aren't you just a stud, hmmm?" The mare flashed a mouth of sharp, glistening teeth as she approached him in a most seductive mannor with hips swaying at each step. Raven was always an extreme of any set emotion at a time thanks to her heritage, but there was always such a strong lust for power....often she'd try to devour those stronger than her to gain their strength...but imagine what their combined genes would make?
In such a strange set of mind, the mare smirked and trotted right up to him as she nibbled on his neck suggestive manner...no need in beating around the bush!
"Ah....my.....well I don't exactly kiss on the first date...excuse me..." Lon went to move, yet she quickly countered his move.
"Oh....you're not going anywhere..." She grinned, flicking her tail. "So why don't you just play along..."

She was right; she had indeed found a deer—it even was a buck! Her luck was definitely looking up tonight! First, a sexy stallion, then a delicious meal, and now… Where was Lon? Iolanthe finally glanced up from gorging herself to the now merely skeletal buck as she peered around for her partner. He was supposed to be following her, but he was nowhere in sight. It was then that Iolanthe sensed a tension in the air like no other; another predator was around, but it certainly wasn’t the air of her boy-toy Lon. In any case, where was her sexy stallion of a boy-toy? Finishing the last of her meat and licking her lips clean after a thoroughly enjoyable hunt of cat and mouse, she returned to where the general area of where she and Lon had first began their hunt only to find a sight she found herself to be very infuriated with. That… that mare! Didn’t that mare know Lon was already taken!? He was her prey, not some other frivolous *itch’s prey! Eyes narrowing, a raging aura of anger surrounded Iolanthe as she slowly approached. It didn’t matter if Lon returned that mare’s attentions—that mare was Going. To. DIE! No one, and she meant no one, took her prey from right out under her nose without expecting any retaliation!
Iolanthe was so infuriated that she didn’t even give it a second thought as to why she was angry in the first place; in fact, Iolanthe had never been angrier in her life than now. That was her boy-toy that mare was flirtin’ up a storm with! Hers! “Hey, *itch!” she hissed, coming up behind the Way. Too. ****ing. Close. kalona… a single horn? “That’s my boy you’re lickin’ all over, and I’d appreciate it if you’d just back off, and if not, be prepared to get torched!” Flames were already flickering from her mouth as her eyes narrowed. So this was the ever elusive uni-kalona breed… tch, ugly, ugly, ugly. This mare was horrid to look at… no wonder these breeds stayed elusive, they were just… awful. Even regular/kalona offspring looked better than this! Well… all right, maybe she was going too far, but whatever, she just wanted the damned mare to get the hell off of Lon! “Snap to it, *itch! Get away from him now or not only will I scorch you I’ll skewer you a new one!” Well, if the mare was skewered then she was dead… but either way, the mare was going down.
Iolanthe was obviously seeing red… or green, if one looked at her closely. The dragoness herself didn’t think of it was jealousy, but still, she was very possessive of her favorite prey, and no other predator was getting their fangs on what was hers! She was already shaking with such emotion, it was amazing she still hadn’t attacked the mare otherwise; but the mare was close (Too close, too close, get the **** away from him!) and she didn’t want to ruin Lon’s handsome features with her flame breath. Or that’s what she kept telling herself. In reality, deep, deep down past her denial she just didn’t want to hurt Lon while in the middle of trying to kill off a, dare she say it, a rival! Her tail was twitching eagerly; she desperately wanted to kill this stupid mare—hell, she hadn’t even gotten to nibble him, or even really kiss Lon yet! But here… this mare was bold enough to come close and get a nibble of Lon…! Argh! Blunt and to the point when angry, Iolanthe gnashed her fangs. She was dying to just even wound the idiotic mare. It was just too much!

This was something new...never had anyone been so bold and demanding of the Lord of Nightmares before, it made him a bit curious of her mental state yet more pressing...it was annoying the flying frack out of him. "Listen you..." He glowered, standing taller as his wings flared out in an agressive mannor to push her back a ways...NO one pushed him around like this....even if it wasn't his usual style to pass up endearing information that she may posess about her species...well, he already had a project on the go. A much more interesting and....beautiful project. "I will ask you once...leave or you will be forced to leave. You'd be wise to heed my words..."
"Don't patronize me, blackie. I want you. Now will you do as I say or do I damn well have to bloody make you..." The mare hissed and with a lightning fast move that even caught the Lord of Nightmares off guard, slashed her horn against his shoulder.
A rather odd reaction was set off in the male, his pupils seemed to nearly dissapear against his golden orbs...heart pounding as his blood ran cold. Already he could feel the red stain his black pelt, oozing down on the ground as if his very life was slipping away one drop at a time. He'd....never bled before and the sharp pain was a shocking new sensation to him. Was this...how fragile his life really was? How could these creatures live knowing that at any god damned moment like this...it could be taken so fast? Still in obvious shock and not acting at all like himself he backed up slowly, eyes shifting from his wound to the mare as she licked the few droplets of blood...HIS blood from her muzzle as it dripped off her horn. "s...stay back." He stuttered, his tone having lost all its previous life.
"There....listen to your master my pet... be a good boy and I won't hurt you..." She smirked, drawing closer before the crude voice of Iolanthe ran through the air. Turning her head around with a fury of anger, she spotted the freak looking dragon kalona. What was with these woods and hosting so many freak mares? "Oh really? I don't see your god damned name on him? Besides, you're pretty retarded to leave a fine catch like this all alone....but thats alright. He's found something better than a scaled freak like you." She sneered, fangy smirk felt like it could have curled right up to her ears. Raven might have been crazy, down right derranged....but the moment she saw the fire lick around the mare's muzzle she knew she was in over her head. Why did she hesitate? By the way her aura screamed destruction and death....yet as she caught the subtle glance she made at Lon....she knew her pet would be her savior too.
Taking the prime opportunity to snuggle up against the big black male as he seemed to be lost in himself standing like a frozen statue, she licked at his wound...just to poke the fire a bit more. "Mmmmm, tasty." She smirked, her tail curling around his leg for a little bit more of the taunt. "Come on...burn me. You won't even notice the burns because we're both beautifully matches blacks..." She coyly blinked, curious what the mare would do.

Her eyes widened slightly as the black unikalona suddenly slashed at Lon, and then she saw red. Nothing more than red... Blood... it was in the air... the very scent... That mare was looking mighty delicious about now. "You... you..." She hissed, her flames within her mouth getting hotter, brighter, stronger, as her anger fed her power. "How dare you to think that I'll take that standing here! You had your chance! Now, die!!!" Iolanthe released a multitude of fireballs at the mare and Lon, not in the least bit worried about burning Lon. Sorry, Lon... I'll make it up to you later... if I feel like it. An evil smirk graced her face as she practically danced on her hooves. "Come at me, coward! Hiding behind a wounded, you probably suck at fighting! C'mon, *itch! Let's see who's stronger, some half-whipped useless cursed half-breed like you or a dragoness of purity!" She taunted, smoke coming out of her nostrils as more flames began to make their way through her mouth.
She didn't even hear Lon as he weakly tried to tell her to stay away--or was that him telling the hybrid that? No matter, she'd tend to him later and admonish him for not paying better attention to their surroundings. "I'm a scaled freak, now am I?" She flung another fireball at the dark mare, trying to provoke her. "I'm not so weak that I'd leave my own prey alone as you so believe..." But when the mare began to lick at Lon's bleeding wound, Iolanthe's regained controlled fury now froze her with so much anger she could only watch as if time had slowed down dramatically, and then she approached, a more menacing aura than before. "Come, *itch." Her voice was oddly calm, but her eyes nearly glowed with the anger that raged within her very being. The mare had dared to injure her prey, had dared to call him hers, had dared to try and control Lon in a way that even Iolanthe found repulsive. Lon was a magnificent stallion, and so to see him go into shock--had he never been injured like that before?--was enough to sent Iolanthe's sanity over the edge. She'd fix up Lon later.
Right here, right now... she was going to destroy this mare. "Hear me, *itch. Know that you will die happily for you are going to be killed by a pure dragoness... Enjoy the torture of the dancing flames!" Iolanthe then release a stream of fire, lighting up the whole area better than lightning bugs as continued her approach, controlling her stream of flames and training it only upon the mare. She didn't know why she cared to have Lon together in one piece nor did she care to want to know why. All she knew was that she had to protect what was hers, and that was that. Her draconic instincts were screaming at her to protect, protect, protect, and just kill the damned intruder. At least she was getting to be savage tonight; her luck really was looking up after all! I'll singe you a new coat! Beautifully black her a**! Only Lon could pull off that look, she decided, and no one, and she meant no one--stallion, mare, bird, wolf, etc.--got in her way or interfered. Ever. Iolanthe was going to singe this mare a new fur coat and maim her a new leg if she had anything to say about it!

Raven's smirk grew even wider as the mare seemed so shocked that she would harm her little pet, yet that was the way she liked them...totally helpless, like little puppies for her to get her way. "Come and get me, b*tch....He kinda looks sexier with wounds..." She debated giving him another while he was still in shock just to proove a point but found she barely had time to think before seeing the balls of fire flying towards her and the stallion. Managing to duck under the first few the second and last erupted against her hair and face as her pelt singed and crisped. Patting the flames from her hair quickly with her wings, a crazed look glistened in the unikalona's eyes.
That was the last F*cken straw.
Lon, on the otherhand took the brute force of the fireballs...which conveniently snapped him right back into reality as his pelt burned and wings singed against the flame. "Son of a b*itch!" He cried, shocked in a whole new sense as he quickly wrapped his wings tightly against his ignighted pelt to cut off oxygen so the flames died quickly. Stumbling back as his heart felt like it would burst from pounding so fast at the rush, he looked around to try and assess what was going on. At least that scratch doesn't hurt as much anymore... He thought with a bitter sneer, yet pushing aside his concerns about his well being he looked on to see an Iolanthe like he never in his wildest dreams could fathom. The look in her eyes, the way she stood and the mere tone of her voice would have sent him packing if it was directed to him...
Raven hissed viciously at Iolanthe, her spade tail itching to sink into the side of the mare but her fireballs were too much to evade and even try to get a hit. Unfortunately she was unprepared for what was next to come. "I will die happy knowing you perished by the hooves of a cursed halfbreed and that I will own your little boy toy!" Too cought up in her retort she did not have time to react to the stream of fire which lit the grass up instantly, spreading over the ground. Fool... Raven spread her wings and prepared to fly, but after the initial take off flap the mare cried as she didn't realize how badly her wing was hurt. Without time to think as the flames were shot right at her, the let out a cry of anger as she jumped right at Iolanthe through her stream of fire which burnt at her neck and chest....only when close enough ducking her head under the flame to aim at her neck/shoulder area.

Triumphant in the fact she had managed to provoke the mare away from Lon's side she was completely unprepared to get skewered in her neck area. Never in her life had a Soquili been sane enough to go through her scorching flames to attack her, and as such, the result was a nasty slash across her neck. She had barely dodged as she stopped her streaming flames, blood now dripping dangerously from her neck to her shoulder. Gasping as her air flow was beginning to diminish thanks to her neck wound, Iolanthe turned swiftly, adrenaline pumping as she quickly whipped her tail around hopefully connecting with the mare's body, having already injured one of her wings seriously. Her throat burned hotter than she could stand; already she knew she could no longer breathe flames; not if her neck was injured this badly. Furious beyond belief Iolanthe managed to move away in time to take one last harsh breath before focusing her eyes on the burned mare.
Unable to truly talk because she was fighting to keep her sight thanks to the rapid flow of blood loss as she moved, the only thing she managed to retort was, "DIE!!!" It was a good thing Iolanthe was skilled in the art of combat; such was her life as a dragoness, otherwise she'd be darned stuck on how to survive were she ever to lose her ability to breathe flames, like now. Rearing, she charged, lowering her head so her own horns could tackle the mare. Her eyes were practically dark with so much fury it was surprising she could see through all the red; however, Iolanthe's senses had become more acute; so focused that she was able to at least instinctively sense when she was being attack. It was becoming hard to hear and see, however, even breathe, and if she didn't kill this mare now she'd faint from the blood loss flying away from her neck and shoulder. Oooh, she'd hear about this and be made fun of later, she knew it! Dragons do not get hurt, for if they were to get hurt, how would they protect what is theirs? Her mother's voice echoed darkly as her lips turned into a vicious snarl.
It registered with her that Lon was all right, but she shoved that to the back of her mind as she continued to charge, shifting her wings close to her body in order to gain more momentum, and she sped up, faster, faster... She would take her vengeance first for Lon, and then apply her personal revenge later. She still didn't know why she bothered to care if he was all right; all she knew was that he was hers; her prey--he was HERS!! Nothing would stop her from claiming that, even if Lon himself didn't know... yet. Eyesight blurring worse as she came closer to the mare, Iolanthe nearly stumbled; maybe it hadn't been so smart of her to continue moving around with a wound like this... not to mention it would take her days to heal up... perhaps even weeks, maybe a month. Her basic instinct, however, was taking over her reasoning; for the time being, all the purple dragoness knew was that she had to kill the intruder, terminate the interferer. "...!" She hissed painfully as her wound began to stretch wider, actually stumbling this time, right in front of the unikalona's hooves. Damn...!

As time slowed for the unikalona, a wicked smirk drew across her pain ridden face as horn tore through flesh...blood splattering on her face. Letting out a roaring triumphant laughter as she landed, albeit burning and wounded on the ground she had no time to register the thick clubbed tail lashing out towards her. "s**t!" She cried, feeling the impact against her ribcage to send her toppling to the ground with a fresh wave of pain from her cracked ribs. Gasping for a breath of air she at least managed to with great pain pat herself down with her wing to douse the flames. Burnt, internally bruised and bleeding...Raven's heart began to race more rapidly as she didn't know how much more she could take of this....instinct to flee approaching fast.
"No...no...NO!" She screamed, terror filling her veins as the dragoness pushed through the pain to charge at her...she was dead! Unless...getting a brilliant idea she curled her wings around the dirt at her side, her wing moving up to spray the dirt at her eyes..
WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING? Lon screamed mentally at himself, standing at the sidelines like some moronic lesser. Why hadn't he helped her, the mare who had stood up when he was far off in god damned lala land. What. The. Hell. Furious with himself at this point he'd notice like if it was slow motion the dragoness's leg giving out, her body thrown askew while the unikalona's dirt covered wing motioned to toss dirt at Io...into that deep wound. "Iolanthe!" There would be no stopping infection if it got into there...so he acted as fast as he could and stormed over to the pair with his wings to propell him faster. With lady luck on his side he'd managed to skid infront of Iolanthe and ducking just a tad he'd cushioned her fall against him while lifting his other wing up to shield them both from the dirt.
Raven of course seized the opportunity and took what was left of her pride and burnt body and forced herself to flee the scene as fast as her hooves could carry her into the night.
"Iolanthe....are you alright?" Lon's voice filled with concern, slowly trying to lower the mare to the ground as gently as he could. Golden orbs rolled over her wound as he winced...making his looks like a little scrape in comparison. He needed to act soon...it was bleeding far too much to be remotely okay for the mare to just 'walk off' Why did I freeze up like that? Mentally he continued to kick himself but he'd save the beating for later...now he had to worry about her.
"Stay awake for me now....I need you to blow your fire on your wound...we need to seal it to stop you from bleeding to death. Don't worry about me...i'll be fine." Panic actually rose in his throat, his mouth incredibly dry as he lowered his nose to her neck to push hard against the side of her neck to close the wound together...even if his nose would be scorched in the aftermath and it would hurt Iolanthe...it was the best option he had since well...the only unicorn for miles just ran off....
..and probably wasn't game to heal Iolanthe at any rate.
"Please Iolanthe....try, now before you pass out from how much blood you lost..."

Someone was calling to her, but who? All she knew was that she had to go after that mare... Iolanthe had yet to realize she had stumbled; she hadn't even noticed that Lon had come to her aid, cushioning her fall as he protected them from the dirt thrown at her. Most likely intended to blind her, perhaps, but because she had fallen, the dirt had missed and most likely would have landed on her wound and caused an infection, had Lon not shielded her. When had she become so weak as to let a male protect her like this? Iolanthe's gaze was blurring, images fading in and out, her mind whirling with senseless thoughts as pain made itself known within her body.
She was falling...? It seemed she fell on something soft; what was happening? Iolanthe was delirious, her half-lidded gaze falling on Lon's form as he faded in and out. He was mumbling something, but she couldn't really hear him clearly. What was he saying? "...blow... fire... wound..." Iolanthe's gaze soon shifted to see what had happened to the mare, but it seemed the coward had run off after all. Too bad. The mare actually had put up a fight. At least she got pointers for that. But that was all she was getting... She winced as Lon moved to try and close her wound, and much as she wanted to talk to tell him it was all right, she could barely breathe, let alone produce flames. However, she wasn't one to give up, and so she struggled, releasing a small, pitiable flame on what she could reach of her wound. The slash of the sharp unicorn horn had gotten her at the base of her neck sliding down to her right shoulder. It ached something fierce as she struggled to maintain consciousness long enough to administer "first aid" while Lon himself was getting burned as he tried to keep her wound closed.
Throat parched as she finished, the wound finally closing up, she gasped, "Ah... ha... apologies, L-Lon... it's not like m-me to..." Water! She needed something to drink, she was so thirsty... Her vision was somewhat returning, and then as true awareness also returned, she realized she was leaning against Lon, his warm, strong body giving an oddly soft cushion. She found she didn't mind it so much, but at the same time thought it was a little too cutesy for her own personal tastes... but that mattered little at the moment. "...Water..." she murmured, shifting to stand, still slightly wobbly but managing to stand on all four. She turned a pained smirk at Lon, moving so she could lick at his leg wound, breathing warm flames to close it as well. There. His fur would grow over it in time... now, for that darned elusive water! Limping slightly the general direction of the lake beyond the forest, she soon paused and turned to look at Lon, intentionally waiting for him this time. She wasn't up to the idea of "leaving him to himself" this time around, in case another mare decided to take her prey. "...Lon...?"

Come on...thats it.. Closing his eyes as the fire spilled from her lips to burn at her and his flesh to close that wound. Even as the flames licked at his nose and face he kept pushing the wound together, smelling a rancid combination of burning blood and skin. It was almost potent enough to make his eyes water but he managed to hold off as the flames dissipated and she began to move against his form. Immediately tossing his head to the ground to snuff the flames against the dirt, he sighed in a bit of relief before jumping again with a wince as the flames licked and closed the wound on his leg. "Thank you..." He breathed, don't get him wrong it just like something feirce...but he supposed it was much better than becoming fatally ill with infection where no fire could heal.
Listening carefully as she tried to speak, his brow rose when she'd suddenly stopped and seemed to struggle a bit mentally with her train of thought. "Io.." Water? Oh! Well of course with such exertion that she'd done hunting and fighting of course she'd be thirsty! Watching a few moments as she limped off...Lon had to secretly wonder what was wrong with the mare...in all honesty he didn't expect the outcome of such a battle to be the way it was. She was a prime killing machine, yet he also supposed one didn't come across a Unikalona everyday. No doubt though if such a fight were to be rematched...Iolanthe would have no trouble. His name brought him back into reality as he gave her a bewildered look for her waiting there....but seeing as his delay last time had caused all of the crap to erupt he quickly hauled himself to his hooves to follow her with a steady lope.
Why had she done that though...fight her off? Lon cast her a glance as he walked along beside her to the water. He very well could have taken the mare himself if he hadn't been so weary of his massively shortened lifespan...yet Iolanthe...she wasn't afraid to die, die for him? It didn't make a lick of sense since they had just met....he couldn't possibly fathom she was like this to everyone...why him? Why me? Lon tried to wrap his brain around it...but it wasn't an easy task. That’s my boy you’re lickin’ all over... Mentally he took a 360, blinking as he couldn't help but look at the mare... Did she really say that? He thought, knowing he'd heard that but hadn't even reacted to it thanks to his well...other more pressing issues at the time. She couldn't...
....s**t. What if she DID?
Iolanthe wasn't just a mare one could brush off, or kill off like he did for those really instistant mares that wouldn't leave him be after he bore of them. Yet really...he wasn't even close to getting any information he wanted from her...even then he wasn't sure if leaving was in his agenda. So....was our game more than....a game? He questioned...frack...this really changed a lot of things in his perspective....little did he know though that he'd been staring off in space a long time as he walked along with her.

No need for thanks... I was just protecting what is mine, she thought, a lopsided grin at his breathy thanks. What in the world was he thinking? A faint smirk appeared on her face as she limped towards the lake, practically falling into its shallow depths (but careful to keep her wings dry) as she greedily drank in the delicious cold water. Not that it was that cold, seeing as her body temperature was higher than normal, not that it kept her from feeling giddy about feeling Lon's own body against hers. Now that she was back in her right mind it was so much easier to think. She had already determined that Lon was hers, her prey, her... friend, her companion... partner. Ally. So many words. All of them had basically the same meaning to her, but she did not go further. They were the meaning of friendship to her and had the potential for more, but she honestly didn't want to think past that.
Now that her throat was no longer dry, she lifted her head from the watery depths of the lake's semi-shallow shore, turning to observe the stallion staring off into space. "What's wrong, Lon? Tongue-tied? Silly. Don't tell me that was first time you've gotten hurt? Don't worry, you'll heal up fine in time." Hoping to snap him out of his strange deep thinking she lashed her tail lazily in the water, eyeing the sky. It was getting lighter... didn't he mention something about how dawn was coming soon? It had been a couple hours since she had hunted and battled, so... "Let's go find a cave, Lon. Unlike you, sir, I'm quite tired and would like to sleep." No longer limping thanks to the cold water numbing her neck and shoulder wound, she flared out her wings, seeing that they were finally dry after the first initial "dive" into the liquid depths. For now, she didn't care that Lon probably preferred to be on his own; she would keep her eye on him in case he nabbed another surprise like that unikalona mare.
Well, more on that later. It was fit that her prey be protected by her, since he was prey, but somehow Iolanthe had gotten the inkling he probably could have protected himself. Oh well, what's done is done, she decided. Whatever happened, it happened, and one doesn't dwell on the past unless they need to review their mistakes. She wondered these days how her family was doing, but then put that thought aside, too. Her mind was wandering and it only proved that she was fatigued, though normally she wouldn't be. However, because she had run around with open, bleeding wound, it was no surprise she was terribly exhausted... at least she wasn't hungry anymore. Getting out of the water and shaking her head clear of random thoughts, she glanced around the forest, trying to see which way towards a cave; there had to be at least some mountainous area around here, otherwise there wouldn't be such a forest or a lake this clear.

"Hmmn?" Lon blinked, fully ripped from his thoughts as he didn't even realize he'd been standing lost in his own world near the lake while Iolanthe drank her fill in the cool lake. His own cheeks burned under the question...dare he say? He didn't see the harm in it...afterall it looked like they were going to be spending a lot more time together in this near future that she'd figure it out sooner or later if not already thanks to his distant demeanor. "In a fact....yes." He said plainly, grimacing with displeasure at the blood sticking to his frame as he too moved into the waters to wash away the memories of the battle. It was blissful the way the cool waters lapped at his burns and healing wounds, his own wings folded high on his back to keep dry even though they too were a bit crispy from the fireballs.
"I suppose....I've never had to worry about brushes with death...i've been careful not to get into such situations. I was a bit shocked that life is indeed so....fragile." Moreso, he had been concerned about Iolanthe even though she was very much capable of handling her own as she demonstrated....but it was the first time he'd actually cared wether someone but him lived or died. The guilt lay heavy on him, but luckily he did not let that show in the slightest as he drank a few large gulps of water before returning with her to shore. "Honestly I sometimes don't understand why soquili put themselves out there like that knowing it could be all over in an instant." Perhaps...they did not see the value of life like he did, they were given life while he had to seize it, and cost him everything.
"Cave...?" Shooting his eyes up to the lightening sky he also felt a new sense of panic arise...he'd....forgotten, completely letting time slip his mind. "Yes...let go, now." Urgency laced his voice as his wings spread, lifting off with a small gallop as he took to the dawning skies. "The one I used yesterday is just to those hills ahead. Its an abandoned bear's burrow, it will due for now." Besides....he didn't have time to be going out looking for a bigger cave. He knew she could keep up so cutting the dawdling he flew towards their destination, when close enough landing in the small clearing which held a hefty tree raised by the boulders amongst it's roots, and inbetween the two rocks was a cave fit for a grizzly, open enough to when bent host two large horses untill further back it opened up into a bigger pocket room.
Lowering his head and tucking his wings close he ventured inside quickly as the sun's rays hit the tops of the mountians above, once inside the larger den he dropped to a laying position while looking out to make sure Iolanthe wasn't far behind. "Made it..." he breathed, usually not one for making such close calls with the sun.
