Also, do any of you take offense to being called a bookworm (if you have been).

I dont mind being called a bookworm, i love reading and i dont think being a bookworm is a bad thing, although others might.

I don't particularly care when someone calls me a bookworm though no one ever does, it's kind of outdated. However, I'm so not going to read that article. xp

I did think the fat cell was kind of cute.

I never used to mind being called a bookworm as a kid, but I don't hear anybody call me that anymore. Usually people call me a bibliophile if they call me anything. It's amazing what college does to your vocabulary.

That's true--I don't hear older people being called bookworms as often. Then again, I have heard the less kind terms "geek" or "nerd".

I wouldn't take offense if somebody called me it. I'd be flattered lol. However on the other hand... don't real bookworms destroy books? D: sounds dreadful.

Real bookworms eat books. Human bookworms "eat up" books quickly, as in read them really fast, I guess.

I wish people would call me a bookworm more often, actually.

I don't know anything about the origin, but I totally don't care if I'm called a bookworm. It's probably the truth anyway.

Sorry, I have no idea where the term bookworm comes from. But my guess is some who dives into books like worms dive into dirt. If someone calls me a bookworm, to me its a compliment, but they would do it probably to bother me.

I love being called a bookworm. If I had to be reincarnated as an insect, it would be a bookworm. I'd love to curl up in a nice Shakespearean play. Quite literally.

I agree, about wanting to be a bookworm if I had to be an insect. It would be quite nice to actually sleep between the pages of a wonderful book.
