I would say the Materia system allowed more customization the other systems I have tried.

i like the materia. it gives me alot ofd choice on how i want my characters to be and im not limited to haveing certain characters everytime. my favorite materia would be slash x2 (master x 4which for me 4 x 9999) or slash all master (flash! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Plasmetic101 vincent_valentine_67 I love the materia system better than the stock system of ff8 the only true use of magic in 8 was for statts. other than that i just use GFs or normal attacks FF8 was far too easy, just have low level characters with high stats from magic and you were all set

The two best systems, in my opinion, were FF7's materia system and FFT's job system. FF7 allowed for more command set customization, I think, as well and super-powering your characters (4x cut and KotR FTW) while FFT allowed you to get down to personal preferences with each character. If Square could somehow combine the two systems, I believe they would make THE perfect system.

I loved the Materia system. However, I think that having to level them up as much as was needed when you're trying to get the Master materias was a bit much. Selling them was nice too. (Master All = lots of Gil)

Materia was sweet... I liked the fact that after prolonged use of a particular element, a character would be more apt to resist it, or add it to their attack. My fav materia? Black materia, naturally!

i thought it was the best, what would've made it really awesome was if you could learn in totally after a while and you wouldnt need it to take up space so you can go and learn more like in the ff9 i loved all+cure it was really useful through most of the game even if it is basic

I personaly thought the Materia system was pretty unique and very easy to work with. Not only did you have to levle you characters but your Materia grew in rank allowing you to use much stronger attacks. Not to mention adding materia to a certain character to create a brand new strategy.
