"No," Meleager said with a shake of his head, "I don't think so. ...I'm sorry. I didn't want to do this. But now... I need some time to think." He paused, offering a shrug and a slightly forced smile by way of apology. Really, he should go to sleep, but he thought he would probably go for a run beforehand - he didn't know where yet, but somewhere far enough to work off his excess energy and give him a chance to think. A good run and a bath, and then sleep. Since tomorrow was going to be interesting... he had to be sure of his thoughts before he spoke to Jocasta.
"I'll see you tomorrow?" he asked. "After I've spoken to Jocasta, I expect..." He wasn't exactly looking forward to that conversation any more, either.

Castor nodded his agreement. “Yes, of course, tomorrow then... Goodnight Meleager.” Offering a hesitant smile. Castor moved over to the other stallion and nuzzled his neck briefly before turning and setting off across the clearing. So it was done, and Meleager wasn’t angry with him. That was a success. It still didn’t feel like one though. Meleager was upset by this, he was sure of it. Still, there was nothing to be done about that; he had acted in the only way he could. Sighing internally, still wishing he hadn’t needed to come here tonight, Castor pushed through the bushes and headed on towards hi own clearing and, with luck, some rest.

Meleager leaned into the nuzzle, closing his eyes briefly - and Castor turned away to leave. The grey Reya sighed. He didn't blame him, of course - he'd as much as told him to leave, and it was the most sensible thing to do. But still... Meleager watched the tendril-winged tactician leave with a sigh. He couldn't focus on him now, but tomorow... Tomorrow he would handle all of this better.
And that was that. He was still itching with pent-up annoyance, and he couldn't stand still now. With a last glance around the clearing, Meleager turned and headed out in the opposite direction to Castor. This way was open ground, quiet valleys, and, some distance away, a shallow lake that was beautiful in daylight but would be deserted at night. Perfect. Pushing through the trees, the herdleader found a well-used path and set off at a rapid canter. His hooves ate up the ground before him, and soon the dappled Reya was far gone, nothing of him left behind but the echo of hoofbeats.
